VAR

Initially when VAR came in I thought it would benefit the smaller clubs due to the big club bias of referees (headlines when refs get decisions wrong against the big clubs whereas hardly a mention when same happens to smaller clubs) but over the last couple of weeks the ‘clear and obvious’ criteria for VAR seems to have started favouring the big clubs again.

First the arse v city game and the decision not to get the ref to review what should have been an arsenal pen, and now tonight at Man U. Was it clear and obvious? The villa player didn’t run into cavani, it was the other way round, and cavani wouldn’t have stopped the header anyway.

I’m sure if you wanted to, you could find a foul at every corner taken with the holding, and shirt pulling.

Is it time to just use it for offsides and ball crossing line? Should the VAR ref have to come out after games and explain the review and non review decisions?
