Player Ratings And Reviews: Hull vs. Crystal Palace (2-0)

samedi 4 octobre 2014

Speroni - 6.5 He had no chance with either of the goals. Had very little to do besides that.

Marriapa - 6.5 He showed a better understanding going forward with Puncheon than Kelly has had. Defensively a little less composed, but overall competent. Should be first choice while Dann is out.

Kelly - 6 He struggled a bit early, but once switched to CB he looked much more comfortable. His defending for their second, however, was shocking. His only responsibility in that situation is to prevent Jelavic from cutting back in.

Delaney - 6.5 Besides one major slip up in the second half, was our best defensive player. Had a great header at the end that was cleared off the line. Needs to take a huge leadership role in organizing the defense with Dann out.

Ward - 5 His worst game in a while for Palace. Looked poor in almost every facet of the game. Unfortunately, this entire season has seen a big drop off in form for him. Need him to turn it around because he looks our starting LB for the foreseeable future.

Ledley - 6.5 Started brightly, and was part of some great link up play in spurts, but faded a bit down the stretch which culminated in giving the ball away for their 2nd.

McArthur - 7 Not quite as influential as he has been, and gave the ball away uncharacteristically at times. Nevertheless, he was reliable in the middle and is already one of our most important players.

Jedinak - 7.5 Maybe lost in this performance was how great Jedinak was. He won countless headers, made numerous tackles and interceptions. He has rebounded so well after his disastrous performance against Burnley.

Bolasie - 6 Unlike the last two games, it just didn't come off for him today. He was given plenty of the ball, but with slightly less room to operate than usual, he struggled to make things happen. Wasn't as influential in the air as he has been recently. Was responsible for one of our only shots on target, and it was a cracker.

Puncheon - 5 After a string of four straight games with 7+ ratings, he came back to earth in a big way. Was given opportunity after opportunity and was wasteful on nearly every occasion. On another day he may have scored three today. Heading the ball backwards when he was on their goal line typified his performance. Inconsistency has been in abundance during his Palace career, but he must retain his place.

Campbell - 5.5 Started brightly but faded out of the game. Offered very little yet again. It is well known I firmly believed Chamakh should have started this week, and I think that change will happen against Chelsea.

Chamakh - 6.5 Instantly provided a spark. His passing ability and class on the ball is unparalleled in this team.

Gayle - 5 Had almost no involvement (and little service). Zaha was the better choice to come on.

While the loss certainly hurts, and it wasn't a great performance, the loss of Dann may be much more devastating. It is not an area we have much depth in, and he has been one of our best players this season along with McArthur and Chamakh. Just have to hope it is not too serious.
