Player Ratings And Reviews: Vs West Brom (away)

samedi 25 octobre 2014

Speroni 6 One good save, benefit of doubt given on crosses because he was fouled.

Ward 7 Felt he was pretty comfortable

Hangeland 7 Solid + good goal

Mariappa 6 Lacked nous, but not woeful

Kelly 6 Defended ok, but despite his pace he lacks mobility

Jedinak 7 Good pen, and rock solid. (Loses a point for penalty)

Ledley 7 Got through lots of work.

Bolasie 7.5 MOM felt he ran the game in the first half, and our most threatening player in the 2nd

Chamakh 6.5 Great to see him back. Won headers, and tackles

Zaha 7 should have had a penalty. beat their left back for fun. Tracked back brilliantly. Not given enough ball.

Campbell 6.5 Lively

Subs:

Hennessey 5 Didn't have a save to make did he?

Puncheon 5.5 looked bright (but loses a point for their 2nd goal)

Guedioura 4 Shocking. Nowhere near the standard required.

A lot will be made of the referee. I felt he got a lot right, apart from 2 pens for us (1 given on Bolasie that shouldn't have been, 1 not given on Zaha that should have been), their first goal, and a booking for their left back that wasn't forthcoming. I felt that Warnock got his starting XI spot on. Shame Chamakh and Zaha are not matchfit to play 90, and shame Warnock used this game to bring the subs on early. I love Chamakh playing in the hole. I think we look solid, and will look even more solid when Delaney, Dann and Speroni play 90 vs Sunderland. The one weakness for this team IMHO is the striker. I think Campbell had a decent game. I think Gayle is a top class finisher, and Murray should have been retained. But none of them have the sheer presence of Jerome. That's what we are missing to complete the side: a striker who can go in behind and score goals whilst having strength/pace to chase lost causes. We must look for that player in january. Other than that I honestly feel we will be fine. Bring on Sunderland.
