I watched a video of Inter vs Lazio in the UEFA Cup final the other day. Ronaldo was such a good player. I don't think he gets anywhere near the recognition that he should have.
Then I stumbled across this post on the Jonathan Benteke thread. I don't know if his legacy is clouded by the fact towards the end he got overweight and didn't really try.
But surely got to be one of the greatest ever players to grace the game? Such a natural finisher, with skill and pace to match. Maybe because the end of his career overlapped with the uprising of Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi?
When talking of great footballers he never really gets a mention but he won everything in Italy and Spain including the UEFA Cup, he won the World Cup (twice!) And the Copa America but now all I hear if he does come up is... Oh what Fat Ronaldo?!
Great great player who probably should be remembered a bit more fondly than he seems to be, especially as his career was still pretty recent.
Just thought I would add 352 goals in 518 games, and 68 International goals (including Olympics) in 106 games.
