Delaney post FAC final interview.

mardi 31 mai 2016

10 days after the final, I have only just brought myself to watch the MOTD Cup Final highlights. What struck me most was the superb honesty and sportsmanship shown by Delaney in his comments when interviewed on the pitch. No bleating about refereeing decisions or near misses. Just an admission that United were the better side on the day and we didn't quite do ourselves justice. His comments were a lesson in how to accept defeat with dignity.

Of course Clattenberg screwed up when he failed to play advantage. But do we really think that even had Wickham scored, Palace would have held on for 60 minutes? There was no disgrace losing to a club who have spent millions and millions putting their squad together. We gave it 100%. Pardew's tactics almost worked. But in the final analysis we just fell short. Don't forget United also hit the woodwork twice.

The real reason we lost wasn't Clattenberg. It was the fact we were playing against a squad of top class internationals. We just fell short. But how good to see Delaney able to accept defeat with dignity and without the hint of sour grapes which most teams offer up whenever they lose.

Delaney - Top Man!

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Had an excellent season with Oxford Utd, resulting in being called up to the Republic of Ireland squad with every chance of making the Euro squad.

Midfield/playmaker who is very quick and skilful, I accept it's a big step up but definitely think a great investment for a couple of seasons time.

can someone help me understand

all of this palace hatred on the internet, including from some academy players for AFC Wimbledon? Yes, I know Hiram was playing for argyle in the league two final, but there is something more.

Generally, I have always liked phoenix clubs, especially when the owner is at fault, one of the reasons I hate Dons almost as much as milwall and charlton.

seven promotions in 14 years, this is probably one of the most successful new clubs in english history.

Suggestion: Robbie Brady

He's exactly the kind of player that we should be at least looking at to strengthen the squad and offer something different. He can play left back, left midfield and left wing so has versatility which, as we have learnt this season, is a massive bonus when injuries start to pile up. It's unfortunate that he's been in two relegated teams, but I personally don't think this is a reflection of his own ability.

Obviously stats don't mean everything, but this is quite interesting. You'll find him at number 53.

Suggestion: Alan Judge

Too good for the Championship, surely with Brentford not coming up this would be a good buy for us.

14 goals this season and 11 assist, all around game is brilliant and isn't afraid to get stuck in. This guy is the type of player we need to be looking at. We need to stop going for shit like Adebayor and go for the type of people who got us here in the first place and the likes of which who kept us here. People with something to prove!

Discussion: Pre Euros speculation

From the first ball is kicked this tournament people will be suggesting every Gary Breen and Joel Campbell as the solution

I thought it would be interesting to start a thread on who we could target at the finals and compare that afterwards to the names being touted around after.

There's always a premium paid on players who have a good tournament so if you get your voice in early, then you can stand on your high horse at the end and tell people you said it first.

England U21 win Toulon Tournament

Suggestion: England U21s

With England U-21s winning the Toulon tournament is there value in us looking to pick up some of these players (on permanent deals) to improve the squad?

Chambers, Redmond and Grealish have already been mentioned, and I think there's value in us looking at their availability, but there's potential value in considering moves for the following:

Chalobah (Chelsea - but not getting games)
Iorfa (Wolves)
Holding (Bolton)
Hause (Wolves)
Woodrow (Fulham)
Baker (Chelsea)

Anyone know if we're scouting any of these players?

Selling your music online

dimanche 29 mai 2016

Does anyone on here do this and have some good advice on which digital distributor is a decent one?

Recently I've put on You Tube a few educational songs that I've written and recorded over the years for schools. One of them - a good luck/moving on song - seems to have attracted a lot of attention without me publicising it on forums or anywhere actually. Have had quite a few requests for MP3's of the song, so thought it would be an idea to have them available on iTunes/Amazon etc...

Have heard Songcast and CD Baby are popular distributors to use. Can't see me selling in a large quantity, so I don't want to be shelling out loads each month on subscription to one of these companies if I'm selling only a few.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Usa looking dangerous

America is finally looking like they will have a huge future. With players like nagbe, bobby wood, pulisic, zardes, and john brooks. Usa legend Landon Donovan even said that usa will win a world cup in his life time. With the decrease of football comes the rise of soccer. With England looking as bad as ever, are you afraid of the free world?

Our Season : A good innings overall ?

Last August , had i offered you :
- Palace staying up with a couple points to spare and a good goal difference
- A couple of massive clubs relegated from the Prem
- A small club winning the Prem
- Brighton staying down in the Championship
- Millwall staying down in League One
- Charlton Relegated with boardroom tussles
- A cup final at Wembley after getting past 4 prem teams. With the boys at Wembley doing us proud and the sour bitter taste of a dodgy referee.

would you have ripped my arm off or looked this gift horse in the mouth ?

Tory Election Spending Scandal - criminal investigations

Why is this not getting the coverage it should?

To view the link you have to Register or Login

As the Conservatives go to court to prevent police investigating its South Thanet election expenses, Channel 4 News reveals fresh evidence of undeclared expenses there, and the scale of the operation.

Channel 4 News understands that there are 18 police forces up and down the country that have been given or are seeking an extension to the time limit relating to election expenses.

The Conservative party is currently only attempting to block in South Thanet an extension to the legal time limit that the local police force has to investigate election returns.

Today, new evidence obtained by Channel 4 News reveals that an important battlebus visit on election day to South Thanet, up to a dozen promotional videos made for the local candidate, and a conference room used by a minister to campaign on local issues for the candidate appear to have never been declared.

Red card rule change

samedi 28 mai 2016

To view the link you have to Register or Login

So a rule/law change that I believe will stop players being punished with a red card for denying a goal scoring oportunity as well as a penalty if it's an accidental foul. The old double punishment issues. All very well but are we again relying on referees consistancy, which lets be honest is questionable a lot of the time, to determine if it's deliberate or not.

I must admit these law makers don't make things easier do they. Nothing now to stop a player stopping a last minute goal deliberately, then claiming it was accidental. You're then reliant on the official to make a correct call in his opinion. The team would still need to score the penalty. So you could take one for the team on the sly. Referee judges it was accidental in his opinion so player doesn't get sent of and then you miss the penalty.

On a side note is anyone else getting pi**** of with these deliberate fouls. Personally I'm sick and tired of them and actually think it should be a straight red card offence. Rojo on ward last week and Smalling when he finally got sent off. That second yellow deserved a straight red as it was a deliberate rugby tackle. Also saw a couple tonight in the champions league final. It's getting beyond the joke now with players deliberately stopping an attack and willing to take one for the team not even in a sly way. We're now seeing open rugby tackles on a football field. As I've mentioned on a previous thread I saw earlier in the season a player actually get sent of for a deliberate foul to stop a breakaway but he classified it as serious foul play. I think if players were sent off for deliberate fouls, stopping attacks no matter where on the pitch, then the paying public would see a much more entertaining game.

Pardews new contract?

Does anyone know if this has been signed? Haven't seen anything confirming it. Just seems a bit strange that it's been on the table for over a month but seems to be dragging on?

15th and fa cup final or 5th and early fa cup exit?

As thought of earlier in the season, Several fans were questioning what they would rather have. Would you have a repeat of last seasons dissapionting league performance just for another fa cup shot, or would we rather have a great league season and an early fa cup exit. I was afraid at some points of the season that we would not wake up and be sucked into relegation, but it was worth it to be in the fa cup.

Rumour: Shane Duffy

FA Cup finalists Crystal Palace look set to bolster their defense with the signing of Irish defender Shane Duffy. Pardew had identified Duffy as a potential replacement should Scott Dann leave. According to the Daily Mail, Duffy is now considered the chief transfer target for the FA Cup runners-up.

The Eagles have been linked with Duffy since March, when West Brom were also rumoured to be interested in the former Everton defender. Duffy played 41 times for Rovers this season, forming a formidable partnership with Grant Hanley as the team finished 15th.

The 24-year-old is expected to cost Palace about £3 million, joining Damian Delaney in the heart of the Eagles defense.

Duffy has two caps for the Republic of Ireland. He looks like he'll be the main beneficiary of Marc Wilson's unfortunate injury. He is likely to start against the Netherlands this evening. Crystal Palace's interest can only be a positive thing for the Blackburn Rovers centre-half. Martin O'Neill won't name his final squad until after the Belarus friendly on Tuesday night.

Discussion: Are we going to leave it too late again?

Article today in the Croydon Advertiser with quotes from Parish on the importance of the Summer Transfer window. (I won't link to the page because you'll just end up with a pop-up advert for lady shavers that you can't close down - disgusting site).

Anyway the key SP quotes are:

"a lot of work to do" this summer.

"We'll start making plans and put plans in place. We have another 38 games to keep our status next year and it's going to be as tough as ever."

"There are a lot of good teams and clubs will be strengthening in the summer,"

"We have got to do the same and look at games which didn't go our way this season and see what we can improve.

"Josh and David have got to know the manager and the team and they wanted to be part of it, a winning team.

"They want to be part of our journey and hopefully we'll work together and get a better team."

Now some of this sounds very promising, but to me this reads like we haven't started making or putting any plans in place at all yet. Surely other clubs will already be making approaches?

Are we going to leave it too late and end up with a scatter-gun list of names dismissed by Pardew on 31 August? Have we not learnt from January?

Or am I being overly concerned and read this out of context?

FA Cup Quarter Final replays scrapped from next season

jeudi 26 mai 2016

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Even the BBC seems to report the removal of replays from another round of the cup as primarily being a loss the smaller clubs earning a 'lucrative' second game against bigger clubs. :(

Midweek replays (away from home) can be a pain to get to, but I'll never forget that amazing goal-fest at Wolves in 1995, what a night!

Makes you wonder how long it'll be before someone decides it is only fair that if there is no chance of a replay, then it is best that the quarter finals are played at a neutral ground??

Suggestion: Christian Pulisic

Why not splash a million for a winger as talented as this kid. Plays for Dortmund and he is the face of america. Would be a great signing if we sell bolasie. Youngest player to ever score two goals in bundesliga. Targeted by Liverpool and Real Madrid. To view the link you have to Register or Login (Game vs Shalke)

Getting a degree in a commmunist country

I was watching a documentary on North Korea and one of the things they showed was a university; it got me to wondering how a degree from, say, North Korea or Cuba stands up in the rest of the World. I can't imagine it means a lot but maybe someone knows different.

An Evening with Neil Shipperley and Andy Johnson

Had a good night out last night down at the Palace at an Evening with Neil Shipperley and Andy Johnson.

Load of money raised for the academy, met Neil Andy and Kenny Samson who were brilliant hosts and very giving with their time.

Good comedian in Paul Boardman.

Just thought it was worth posting as if you get the chance to go, do it, they are good nights.

Who is Grugg? Joined late last year.
Anybody know him?
Everybody I've spoken to has never heard of him and doesn't know him.

I have had some weird messages fror him. For example:

On the open board when I wrote what I saw at Wembley
'Wow , mentalists.....
****have you got any idea how pathetic that sounds?****'

As a visitor to my profile.
'ooohhhh big brave keyboard warrior, i'll have to watch out for plastic flagpoles being used as spears by you ......melt.'

'what so you can give it the large one safe in the knowledge youre surrounded by stewards and old bill ?'

'exactly , and you'll give it the big'un safe in the knowledge as soon as i chin you i'll get nicked'

Private message.
'mug
and you are very deliberately missing the point , if i come and find you , its so you can call me a mug to my face , if you do that i'll chin you and i'll get nicked , but you know that really, thats why youre so happy to give it the large one asking me to ''come and find you , id be more impressed if you offered to meet me somewhere out of the way and THEN start calling me a mug.'

Some sort of weido? I think so.

Who are Palace's Best/ worst Palace signings of all time?

No set criteria, whatever you like - who are your top 10 Palace signings and who are your worse 10? I have chosen mine only including players I watched (so late 80s onwards) and based the selection on their impact (or lack of) at Palace and factored in how much they cost too - so value for money. They are in order of the transfers (I think) not in preference.

Best 10

Ian Wright - obvious choice, bargain, unknown and probably the best player we ever had.

Geoff Thomas - very low cost, terrific player, terrific leader and key cog in our best ever side.

Mark Bright - plucked from Leicester so cheaply and huge impact at club. Another key figure in our best ever team.

Nigel Martyn - The last one from that great side. Served us so well and for many, many years

David Hopkin (1st time round) - what a superb player, such quality on the ball and in front of goal - good at curling one at Wembley.

Andy Johnson - We got £4m plus AJ for Morrison. A joy to watch and took us up, almost kept us up. Loads of goals and a lot of assists too. Such a huge impact on that team and so likeable too.

Darren Ambrose - Free transfer who supplied so many great moments and was vital in keeping us up at the time of our greatest need. Plus that goal at Old Trafford!

Mile Jedinak - Another free (I think?) Superb player, headers, tackles, a few goals, a few assists and a great leader. Key figure in promotion and keeping us up.

Yannick Bolasie - Bargain buy who has improved so much, helped us go up and arguably has been our most regular match winner in last 3 seasons

Scott Dann - exactly the right player at that time. Essential part of keeping us up for these last 3 seasons and very, very good price

Special mentions: Armstrong, Freedman (2nd time), Jansen, Delaney, Ward

Worst 10

Gareth Taylor - can't remember the fee but I know it was big and wow, he was poor. Did he just get 1 goal?

Neil Emblem - Didn't we spend around £2m on him? Don't even understand the logic or idea with this one. Was never, ever going to be worth that.

Valerian Ismael - Record signing but a disaster - day a good player in there but his time at Palace was awful

Lee Bradbury - Think we paid close to £2m for him - complete flop although I thought he tried at least but we sold Marcus Bent for peanuts and signed him for a lot -crazy!

Ade Akinbiyi - We were desperate for a good strong striker, we didn't have much mk ey to waste and we bought a player whose confidence was already destroyed by a very expensive move. We paid around £2m?

David Hopkin (2nd time) - so, so poor and again we paid a significant fee.

Jon Macken - Another very expensive flop. Didn't suit us at all and barely scored any goals even in a decent Palace side.

Nick Carle - Around £1m spent on the basis of one good game vrs. us - pathetic scouting policy. My brother works at BC and they were already disappointed by Carle there - only played in play offs as Lee Johnson injured - they couldn't believe their luck when we came along with the bid.

Jimmy Kebe - Believe we played around £2m and a few poor performances that was him gone.

Zeki Fryers - Desperate for a left back and we signed this guy for a significant fee, I guess big wages and he is nowhere near the team

Special mentions: Florian Marange, David Ansalem, Michele Padavano, Itzik Zohar

So what would yours be?

Which party would run the UK better after a Brexit ?

Labour for me .

BBS Betting Masters – EURO 2016 special

Join in the EURO 2016 betting fun..

Just like the real Euro2016 we’ve hopefully got 24 participants and 6 groups. The best 2 from each group goes through to the next round. Only bets on the European cup is allowed.

Each contestant gets picked (by random) one of the national teams competing in the competition. And then they have to do 5 bets related to their team (can bet against them and so on).
After the league stage the people with most points go through (top 2). They are then up against a person from another group (following the same schedule as the real EC, A1 vs B2 and so on, in the next round).

Number of bets:
Group stages (24 participants): 10-22.June – 20 bets (15+5) – 36 games to bet on.
2. Stage (16): 25-27.June - 10 bets (8+2) – 8 games
3. Stage (8): 30-03.July – 10 bets (8+2) – 4 games
4. Stage (4): 06-07.July – 10 bets (8+2) – 2 games
5. Stage (5): 10.july– 5 bets? (0) – 1 game
(in the last couple of rounds..bets will be pm'd hidden to me (or someone else) before posted..when few matches to bet on.

In addition to the regular bets, one can also do 2 “long-term” bets.
1. Who do you think will win the EC?
2. Top scorer?
Search for the best odds and put it up (name the bookie), I would recommend using To view the link you have to Register or Login
These bets will only come into play if you are one of the 2 finalists.
Bets have to be placed before the start of the tournament.

*The regular rules..
1. Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2. Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 14 days. Maximum bet on a single game is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis.

3. After the group stage the qualifiers all start on 0 points (same for each round).

4. Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission

5. Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

6. Singles and upwards accepted.

7. For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

8. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

9. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

10. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

11. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

12. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together.

Various rumours in Germany/Turkey that several lower level Bundesliga and Premier clubs, including an unnamed South London club, are after Herr Grosskreuz.

I imagine paper talk, but thought I'd post it.

The official 'best of luck Brighton in the 2016 play-off final' thread

This is it, ladies and gents. The day of reckoning where our longstanding, vastly superior (according to all metrics other than match results and league positions, which as we all know are essentially irrelevant these days) rivals finally join us in football's promised land is just three sleeps away.

Brighton And Hove Albion are understandably on a high at present. Saturday evening's New Wembley appearance will see them try to better ours exactly one week beforehand, in the final match of football's most esteemed knockout competition. That, of course, ended in a humiliating 1-2 evisceration by a side with so few honours (3 Champions Leagues, 1 Cup Winners’ Cup, 20 Championships, 12 FA Cups, 4 League Cups) they might as well be non-league.

In contrast, Brighton are already assured of defeating the clearly inferior Hull City, who famously don't own a tinpot to piss in. No wonder their tails are up.

This New Wembley occasion will also see them look to better their previous appearance at the national stadium, when... er... well... okay, that game seems to be missing from this year's Rothman's Football Yearbook. Rest assured I shall be writing a strongly worded letter of complaint to its editor concerning this oversight. Or would it be, if it still existed.

The current play-off campaign is Brighton's second in four years. In their lone previous attempt to score a Premier League berth, the Seagulls were unfortunate to be eliminated by Derby 2-6 on aggregate, all six opposition goals coming from penalties awarded by Mike Dean. And scored by Mike Dean. Had it not been for Mike Dean, they, and not Leicester, would currently be celebrating this season's Premier League title. It is known.

The team might have fancied its chances in the 2012/13 campaign, finishing above rivals Palace in the only season in recent memory for which records still exist. But devastatingly, all play-off matches were famously cancelled due to a series of nearby university open days clashing with the semis, and a Peppa Pig day-nighter conflicting with the final.

Brighton and Palace have definitely never ever ever met in the play-offs. And if they had, the winner's bragging rights would be rendered null and void within thirty minutes of the final whistle. Because… because… your mum.

Many expected Sheffield Wednesday to be named victors of this year’s semi-final tie with the Albion. In an encouraging sign for the Owls, they succeeded at kicking the spherical thing into the rectangular thing more often than their world-renowned opponents.

But the Yorkshire side hadn't bargained for poker god and Brighton owner Tony Bloom. Proclaiming he’d had his ace of hearts unjustly confiscated in the Mickey Mouse town of Middlesbrough, he instead lay his sympathy card and reminded the officials that flags were flown and songs were sung. This led to an 'Amex Index' multiplier of 7.21% being applied to the given attendance numbers, and Brighton were awarded their long-merited place in the final.

Brighton will fancy their chances on Saturday, with the club's 73,000 season ticket holders having pre-booked their match tickets as soon as they went on sale in 1979, and the entire population of Uganda being flown over for the fixture courtesy of Tesco Value Air.

For those arriving early to soak up the greatest atmosphere in the history of Wembley – if not sport itself – the club's official revisionist historian and general internet thundergonk 'Tozza' will be signing copies of his book, 'Palace 3 Liverpool 3 And 12 Other Message Board Threads I Deleted In A Green-Eyed Hissy Fit, Even Though Our Rivals Have Nothing On Us' at various areas around the stadium. [Entitlement Boulevard, Clackers Close, The Magiko Circle, Premier League Ready Way].

All fans should be aware that fire drill testing may be carried out at random intervals from the 82nd minute onwards.

Tickets, with bespoke designs celebrating landmark years in Albion history, are available now and priced at £5.00 (commemorating 2002), £3.02 (2005), £3.01 (2011), £3.00 (2012) and £2.00 (2013).

The club's official cup final song, 'The Only Way Ain't Up', by Kaz & The Plastic Population, is available on iTunes now.

Best of luck, friends, enjoy your glorious day out, and see you in the 2016-17 Premier League.

His absence last season was due to a long term injury, and he had a foot problem this season, so there won't be huge competition for him. Also, he signed a new deal during the long term injury which show Soton had faith in him and means it won't be a massive wage he's on.

Soton just might sell, especially if managers change again.

I know would I'd rather have between Frazier Campbell and him!

Discussion: Jordan Ibe

I've just been on PaddyPower's website and the most interesting thing I saw was that we are only 8/1 to be Jordan Ibe's next club, haven't seen any rumours or even suggestions so why are our odds so low? Discuss.

Becoming a Cup Team

I want us to give the cups a real go in future. Up until this season I never really felt it was a priority for us, even when we reached the league cup semi a couple of seasons ago.

I know that during the 2000's because of the financial gap between the big 4 it was out of reach to pretty much everybody but now the gulf has closed and we are slowly becoming established in the Premier League I wouldn't mind us defining ourselves as a proper cup team.

Growing up I used to associate Forest and Wednesday with cup competitions as they always seemed to be in later stages and finals when I was growing up and more recently Seville always seem to be in cup finals.

Dougie Freedman Interview

mardi 24 mai 2016

As part of Holmesdale Radios end of season show, we spoke to Dougie Freedman on Tuesday night. He was VERY generous with his time (90 minutes) and very generous with the free flowing information and quite brilliant stories.

We talked about his playing career, how he got into management, his infamous switch to Bolton, Cardiff 'Spy Gate' and much much more.

If you're one of the Dougie haters following his departure and do not want your opinion changed... don't listen.

You can listen to the interview in full on our live end of season show this Sunday from 7pm.

£5million down on last year. No surprise considering we finished 6 places lower than last season and had the least number of UK live televised games. Arsenal having 27 out of 38 games broadcast live in the UK is just silly though!

Blackwall Tunnel

Has been closed all day. My 15 min drive to work this morning took an hour. Just tried to leave work and got to the end of the road before deciding to go back, park up an walk home instead.

When the tunnel shuts down, all of south east London shuts down. At least we have a cable car and we're getting a garden on a bridge.

Half time stragglers at Final

One thing that amazed me at Wembley was the number of fans that were still wandering back to their seats 10mins after the 2nd half had kicked off - missing nearly a quarter of the second half!

It's one of the biggest games in our history. Couldn't the burgers wait till after?

Why 2016-17 will be a great year for Palace

It's written in the stars folks. We may even 'do a Leicester'

Palace losing at Wembley = league greatness the following year.

We've done faily well at Wembley over the years, with a slightly better than 50% record but on the occasions we've endured heartache, the response from Palace has been great

1988 - Lost in 1st Round of Mercantile Credit Trophy Cup thingy :sob:
1989 - Glorious promotion :D

1990 - Robbed in FA Cup :sob:
1991 - Greatest season ever - 3rd place in top flight :D

1996 - Last gasp heartache v Leicester :sob:
1997 - Last gasp glorious promotion :D

2016 - Moral victory and gallant defeat :sob:
2017 - ........

And for those of you nervous about this modern trend of the team losing the Cup Final then getting relegated, we smashed one of those trends in 1991 when back then for the previous few years, the team playing Man United in the last game got relegated (which was Clownton in 1990 by the way :clown:)

So take pride in our colourful and vocal effort from Saturday and get ready for another great year. :lux::lux:

Feel free to add other omens/reasons as to why we're going to enjoy next season.

Direction of the club through the eyes of the fans

After 3 years in the premier league and pretty much establishing ourselves a premier league club, where next?

I appreciate for the chairman/Board etc it is all linked with profit and success, but what about from the fans?

You can see subtle divides in the fan base on here of people want from the club and where they want it to go. People drawing inspiration from Leicester and others cautiously looking over their shoulders at Aston Villa.

I think the transfer dealings this summer will suggest a lot about the ambition and drive of the club and whether the ‘core’ of the squad will be changing to a ‘Premier League’ side.

Personally I belong to the ‘South London and proud’ category, I want the success and glory for the club but I don’t want it with a team of Adebayor’s. I want the team to represent the soul of the club, Zaha, Puncheon, Williams, Speroni, Jedi, Delaney etc Those that have brought into the club or been brought up in the club, they know what it means to play for this team and they know what it means to us to pull on the shirt. Looking over at the United support in the final, I’d lose that final every time to have come away with what we achieved and with whom we achieved it with. I want Johnny Williams to make it, I’d rather he was in the squad being slightly less of a footballer than having Jordan Mutch in the squad, I’d rather Speroni was our number 1 this year instead of Hennessey this year, I’d rather we kept looking to get more and more youth players coming through than looking in the French leagues. I’d take being relegated with a team made up of honest Palace players than sitting in the top 6 with an unrecognisable starting 11. I think the club would lose its edge and its identity by evolving into a Stoke or Sunderland who have an unrecognisable starting 11.

I know for many we all want different things and success brings about different expectations, I hope the unity in the stands from the final continues long into the future, wherever the Palace journey will take us. :p

Changes to the 25 Man Squad

So...who would you keep, who would you get rid of etc.

For me:

Goalkeepers

Hennessey/McCarthy/Speroni - All Keep

Defenders

Dann/Delaney/Kelly/Souare/Ward - All Keep
Hangeland/Mariappa - Release or Sell

Midfielders

Bolasie/Cabaye/Jedinak/Ledley/McArthur/Puncheon/Sako/Zaha - All Keep
Yong-Lee/Mutch - Release or Sell

Strikers

Gayle/Wickham - Keep
Adebayor/Campbell/Chamakh - Release or Sell

So by my reckoning we need 2 new defenders - both centre backs, 2 new midfielders and 3 new strikers. However, I suspect I would change that to 2 defenders, 3 midfielders and 2 strikers and get a more "even" balance.

Summer transfers 2016

Deals being done already:

Joey Barton - Burnley > Rangers - Free.
Joel Matip - Schalke > Liverpool - Free.
Eder - Swansea > Lille - £4,000,000.
Toni Martinez - Valencia > West Ham - Undisclosed.
Havard Nordtveit - Borussia Moenchengladbach > West Ham - Free.

Ousmane Dembele - Rennes > Borussia Dortmund - Undisclosed.
Mats Hummels - Borussia Dortmund > Bayern Munich - Undisclosed.
Renato Sanches - Benfica > Bayern Munich - £27,500,000.

Palace fan Wayne Woodward in BGT 2016 Final

Good to see Palace fan Wayne Woodward wearing his Palace hat on last nights Britain's got talent. He won his semi final and is now in the final Saturday. Be great if Palace fans gave him our support :p

Sir Steve part owner of football club!

Apparently Sir Steve is joint owner of fc United of Manchester as of last month.

Guess he won't be doing too much for us.....

Unless we pick up some non league gems....

Bolasie must play up front next season

If he stays, Bolasie should play up front next season. I appreciate it's a bit "out there" for some. The FA Cup Final showed he simply doesn't have the energy or fitness to get up and down the field in the same way as Zaha can on the wing. As different as the stamina for a long distance runner and a sprinter is, Bolasie may be explosive but it is wasted if it shows up on the half way line.

The guy has improved massively his shooting. It used to hit the corner flag or the top tier, now it is usually on target, and it is fierce. His predatory instincts have improved. He is scoring goals with his head, his left foot and his right foot from inside the box. He is the only player in our squad who likes to go in behind and he is quicker than most in the Premier League with the strength to hold off centre backs with ease.

He's not a targetman or lone striker. He needs to play with a targetman like Wickham. But he should be given a chance to play off Wickham, or in a 2 with Wickham. I appreciate it's a new position for him, but I hope Pardew promises him the opportunity. Hopefully it'll enable us to keep hold of him this summer.

BBC Commentary and Post Match Reflections

After a couple of days recovering from Wembley I just got round to watching the Final on BBC. A few thoughts:

1) BBC had a lot of shots of our display and it looked impressive. I can't understand why some others have said it only appeared for 15 secs.

2) The BBC constantly praised our support, pointing out we were making all the noise. At one point they even ignored the match to announce the start of "We love you".

3) I think it was because we were making so much noise the poor girl missed her cue and fluffed the national anthem. The commentators seemed to suggest this.

4) United 'customers' were even more embarassing then I realised. At Wembley I thought I heard them singing, I now realise what I was actually hearing was the Palace fans to our left. :)

5) Utd actually look like a busted flush as a football club. They are so packed with tourists they can't generate any atmosphere. They are the club that have eaten themselves. If FC United of Manchester get in the league (which they will) the process will continue further.
They are a brand, nothing more.

6) Football is changing. We started it, Leicester have taken up the reins, others will follow.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Season 2015/16

lundi 23 mai 2016

It's finally over. Whilst we had a good idea over the course of the season, it's in the big games that you really see how good the players are, and I will adjust my ratings accordingly.

Hennessey 6.5 - Whilst much maligned, bar a spectacular error at Villa Park and perhaps an issue with footwork defending free-kicks I think he has been fairly solid. Far from perfect, but not making regular errors. His name is not Speroni, but his handling, punching and distribution is pretty good. Good enough for a little while longer

Speroni 6
- Great performance vs Man Utd in the league, he was quieter vs Southampton. Getting on, but a Palace legend. Hope we keep him in the squad next season, and that he eventually becomes our goalkeeping coach. Top guy by all accounts

Mcccarthy 5 - Found out in pre-season and made more mistakes in being slow getting down to shots in early part of season. Rightly dropped, but a lovely guy by all insider accounts, and he is still very young for a keeper. We should loan him out next season to the Championship.

Souare 7 - dip in form due to not being used to the intensity of the Premiership imho. Was superb at the beginning of season and MOM in FA Cup Final. Showed he can defend against all but the trickiest opponents. We need cover for him, but should rightly start as first choice left back next season. Still young, our best crosser and will improve again for the experience next season I reckon. Solid buy.

Delaney 7 -Had Costa in his pocket. Some mistakes but vastly experienced and very fit. Real desire and leadership. His distribution is not of Champions LEague standard, but it is easily good enough for us if we have a targetman in situ. Should start at centre back next season\

Dann - 7 - Scored 5 goals, and should at least replicate that next season. A beast in the air and very solid with good distribution. Suffered a dip in form in the big games but more than capable of learning and kicking on

Ward 7
Lack of pace but fine when we defend deep - kept Martial very quiet. Not good enough in the air to be converted to centre back, he is the perfect right back if full backs are given instructions not to venture forward and we don't keep a high line. Average in possession but a decent defender. One to keep

Mariappa 5 Found out, and will surely be moving on despite his mobility

Hangeland 6 Slow but classy. Old and now injury prone, he moves on with our thanks

Kelly 6
Fine for a game or two, he is a good utility player but hasn't really got enough acceleration to play full back, and not tough enough to play centre back so far.

Jedinak 7 Very poor earlier in season, once match fit he performed solidly. Nothing remarkable but his leadership, aerial ability and tackling saw him through. Is he a starter going forwards? Perhaps not. But he deserves his place in our squad at the very least, and I for one hope he stays as he offers attributes that very few in the Premier League can match.

Cabaye 7 A storming start to the season, he faded. He doesn't have the energy to press or last 90 mins anymore but his passing is normally solid and he is our best tackler and reader of the game. A classy holding mid. No more, no less.

Jimmy Mac 6.5 His energy is superb, and he is a technically good footballer, but he doesn't have the discipline or tackling ability to hold or enough creativity or ability to play No10. A great squad player, but can't see where he can play going forward as we need a tougher defender alongside Cabaye (imho) so as not to leave us exposed, and more ability for a No10 (imho).

Ledley 6
Too slow for this level, other than holding but IMHO Jedinak is better at it. Ledley doesn't win enough ball for my liking, although positionally rock solid. Happy if we want to keep him as a squad player.

Puncheon 6.5 A poor season apart from 3 goals towards the end. I feel he is too slow and left-footed to be an effective No10. Love his Palace heart, but he is also too slow to play wide, and too defensively weak to play further back. Not suited to our style, other than as an attacking option off the bench. He has energy, and I would like to see him as first sub going forward.

Sako 5 Great contribution away to Chelsea, the guy has a hammer of a left foot, but little fitness or pace and doesn't like defending. Will stay in squad, but shouldn't be in contention for a starting berth.

Zaha 7.5 POTY
His energy getting back and going forward makes him a deserved recipient of POTY 2015/16. Probably the fittest player in our squad, he adds so much to the team - it's not just his skill. Would like to see his crossing and shooting improve, and hope he can add more goals next season. IF we can get him in more central positions, e.g. goal vs Stoke, he could run riot. Big season next year for him.

CYL 5 - Excellent technical ability, for example his goal of the season, but too ightweight and not enough pace. Not suited to our style, I hope AP moves him on.

Mutch 5 - a generous score for a player who I liked at Cardiff, but who won't ever make a top half Premiership player. He's too slow off the mark, and whilst he is technically decent he doesn't have enough ability to make up for lack of speed. We should move him on too.

Chamakh 5
- Sad to see a guy who played well in previous 2 seasons suffer so much this season. Yes, injuries haven't helped, but I feel there's been a lack of effort to get fit and when he has been on the pitch too. Such a shame as couldn't wait to see him in the hole playing with Cabaye, Bolasie, Zaha and Wickham. Time to move him on.

Wickham 7 Looks a superb targetman. Holds it up very well, wins headers, works hard, scores headers and with left foot and right foot. A bit of pace for his size, decent feet. Once he has a run in the team, and as long as he has some support (he is not quite explosive enough to play the lone role) he will excel. Cracking signing

Gayle 6
Our most natural goalscorer, but fluffed his lines in final. Good movement and excellent leap. Coulf still make it, and definitely worth keeping for squad.

Adebayor 6 One excellent goal aside, he hasn't made an impact on the pitch. Sounds like he did make an impact off the pitch, but we should definitely thank him and move him on for next season.

Bolasie 7 Quiet season, except when scoring goals. He's shown an improvement at winning headers including 2 goals, and his shooting is so much improved. Has pace and willingness to go in behind, and skill is still there. Can cross too, but lacks fitness to play wide and get up and down the line. Has shown signs of linking up with Wickham in a 2. That's where I see his future, if we can keep hold of him.

Campbell 5 - Not good enough for this level despite efforts. He moves on with our thanks.

Crystal Palace are interested in Shanghai Shenhua striker Demba Ba, according to France Football.

The French outlet reports that West Brom and West Ham are also weighing up a move for the former ewcastle and Chelsea forward, who has two years left on his contract in the Chinese Super League.

Crystal Palace are considering a move for Inter Milan full-back Davide Santon, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian, 25, played for Alan Pardew at Newcastle before moving to Inter.

Did you leave at the final whistle or later?

Bit of a poll. I left straight after the final whistle. Couldn't bear to be there any more. What about you?

IN PARDEW WE TRUST

Another uncalled for thread but I don't care PARDEW is the man to take us forward. So what we didn't win the cup I'm just as gutted as everyother palace fan but why all the negativity were all a palace family. Don't divide Unite and back the boys and Manager COYP.

Pre Season European Friendly?

Appreciate its not been long since the final to talk about next season, but with the other fixtures appearing at certain times. Is a European friendly all but off now with the USA tour?

Probably be a bit much to travel back and then set off again? Especially for one game? Or am I being too soft!

Apologies if there's already been another thread on this and I've missed it.

Alan Yardley - RIP

As if this weekend wasn't bad enough I found out yesterday that a stalwart of the main stand passed away early Sunday morning. Alan had been a season ticket holder in the Director's Box for thirty-odd years, well liked by many around there who had come to know his Winston Churchill-esque stature and witty comments aimed at whichever poor palace manager was in the hotseat right in front of him at the time. He worked in orthodontics and operated out of Warlingham and he taught hundreds of kids to swim in his spare time and retirement. He became close to Ron Noades' and Steve Coppell's families and he had the early 90s team over for bbqs a few times, I think because Ron couldn't be bothered to host! In 1990 he lost a bet to his young daughter who was desperate for a pet pig. He really wasn't keen but he told her that if Palace beat Liverpool in the semi-final (it was a safe bet after the 9-0) she could have what she wanted. Fate took over and he watched a Vietnamese Pot-bellied pig named Four-Three destroy his garden over the next few years! He struggled to make games over the last year or two as ill health took its toll and we knew the end was near in the last week. We like to think his aim was to hold out for the cup final and we knew he listened to it in his care home. We'll joke at the funeral that it was palace that killed him and I know he would have laughed along with that. We really wanted the team to hold the lead for him on the day, and he would have rolled his eyes when the equaliser came, expecting nothing less. He was a great man, loved by many, and he will be sorely missed. RIP Alan.

This should cheer you up...

Brilliant memories.

Suggestion: Michael Carrick

Looks likely that is is out of contract at ManUre.

Wouldn't mind seeing him in the red n blue.....still has a lot to offer especially if Cabaye moves on.

If we had won the cup

I think even if we had won the FA Cup, our achievement would still have become a side show to the LVG sacking/ Mourinho media frenzy, causing the BBS to go into a conspiracy theory/ "The BBC hate us" melt down.

It is sickening how everything the "big teams" do, becomes of national importance in the eyes of the media. :veryangry:veryangry

26 Years? Unlikely.

One of the main things I am taking solace in in the aftermath of saturday's crushing and deflating defeat is the hope that it will not be another 26 years until we reach the final of another major tournament. In all likelihood, we will have a number of opportunities to reach the final of a major tournament and, hopefully, put these ghosts to rest and actually win something. How have I come to that conclusion? Well, history.

In the 26 years between losing against United at Wembley and losing to United at Wembley, we have actually had a number of opportunities to reach a cup final. At times this was even despite being pretty rubbish.

1992-93 - League Cup semi finalists (lost to Arsenal)
1994-95 - FA Cup semi finalists (lost to Manchester United) and League Cup semi finalists (lost to Liverpool)
2000-01 - League Cup semi finalists (lost to Liverpool)
2011-12 - League Cup semi finalists (lost to Cardiff)

So in the 26 years that fell between our two cup final defeats we have had 5 failed semi final appearances. If we have a similar record in the next 26 years then I am confident that we will get ourselves to another major final and have the opportunity to win the major trophy that I know we all dream of seeing our side win. We are in a position of strength at the moment and, with the major sides often not prioritising the cup competitions in the early rounds, we are capable of making waves in the cups if we treat them with the respect they deserve, something I am sure we will do so long as we are a Premier League side. Bolster the squad with the quality we can now afford and give the cups a major go, even when we were rubbish we have come close! How much of a missed opportunity was Cardiff?!

THAT HF DISPLAY

Please can fans post any high quality professional photos / videos they have sourced off in the Internet in this thread.

I was in the concourse queueing to get my last pint in before kick off when I glanced up at the screens and saw that fvck off eagle face in a sea of shiney red and blue flags.... I literally stood there in total awe as BTsports helicopters camera above Wembley picked it up from the sky.... Those piercing yellow eyes on that eagle could be seen for miles above it was a truly remarkable artwork.
Fvcking incredible work HF!

All I've found on the net so far are fans pics and a tiny bit on MOTD highlighting the work but would love to see some professional shots of it. Like I say BT sports footage seemed to home in on it more than the BBC's at the time but can't find it online.

Still a good day?

Seen a few people having a moan about experience at Wembley, just wondered what everyone else thinks.

All in all I actually quite like our days out at Wembley and enjoyed myself on Saturday despite the result (although it took me a good 12 hours or so to realise that I'd actually had a good day out). From having to ask a random woman to take my boy to the toilet as the queue for the mens was too long for him to wait (Thanks again, if you happen to be reading this), to the two guys sat either side of us, one of whom relayed a message from my son to me as I was walking up the steps "He wants some sweets!"...Top guys, and hope to see you around Selhurst one day.

For me, it's all about being with my family, having a meal together before hand and then singing our nuts off for the duration of the game, which is what we have done for the playoff final and the two FA Cup games (although sat in two separate groups on Saturday unfortunately)

Absolutely gutted to lose and seeing my 8 year old in floods of tears at the end of the game was really heart wrenching for me, but so many people, complete strangers, came over and tried to perk him up a bit with a pat on the head and some motivational words "We'll have them next time" etc. He now absolutely detests Utd and is begging me to take him to Old Trafford next season as he's convinced we're going to "smash them in revenge".

The moment I realized that I had actually had a good day out was the next morning when I woke up and heard my son downstairs, playing Xbox, seemingly over the defeat and singing "We're the pride of south London!", choked me up a bit if I'm honest.

Parallels to 1990

There are so many it's actually quite scary.

Coppell and Ferguson walking the cup out. 7 minutes away from Palace victory and then we lose it in what would have been in a replay back in 1990.

Maybe we'll finish 3rd next season....

Wedding photo editing

I got married a couple of years ago and paid a significant amount for what I thought was a good photographer.

Upon going through his photos after the wedding we were left incredibly disappointed, but hopeful that they would be cropped/edited in such a way that they would become a valued memory and we would have a wedding album we could be proud to show the family. Across three events, he only took a small handful of photos and we actually struggled to pick the best for the final album.

Many months later we received the finished album and the photos were more or less as we had seen them in their raw state. Some look as though they have been given the treatment of a preset filter and just about pass for a decent picture. A couple of years on and the album has been removed from its box only 2 or 3 times and none of the images have made it to print.

Having just moved into a new house I thought it would be nice to surprise my wife with a large framed print, but before I do that I wondered if any of the Photoshop experts could tweak the image a little. It's one of the few half decent photos and I don't think there's an awful lot that needs doing but I think it could look a little better.

I'm more than happy to pay for the service, so please PM if you think you'd be able to help.

Thanks in advance.

Bit Hungry

What for lunch?

Note for Parish

I strongly recommend you do NOT give Pardew his new contract until at least end of October 2016, otherwise I fear you will be paying out his contract in full by Spring next year. You and the board really need to review the following before committing to such a huge contract:

Fitness levels and training
Scouting networks and buys
Coaching (yes men), particularly up front
Timing of vanity projects
Fascination with nostalgia acquisitions amongst our set up

Out premiership performances over the 5 months have been alarming, and unless these are reviewed thoroughly we will continue to slide. I have been on for ages to mates that we have probably one of the most productive chairmen ever seen in the footy leagues. However, the last 6 months or so I think you taken your eye off the ball with various vanity projects and fascination with the FA Cup. This summer will be huge for us, we need some hard working, quality players that are comfortable on the ball to come in by mid July at the latest. Our squad needs revamping bigtime in order to improve and be able to take on both league and cup campaigns. Can a club the size of CPFC afford to pay huge wages for players like Adebayor and Cabaye when they continually under perform? It is simply make or break. Time to step up from all at CPFC...

Teams needed

Its the BBS 6 a side cup on saturday and we have had a couple of late withdrawals. So if anyone has a team and wants to play please PM myself or Tasty Snacks. Its £150 a team and finishes in time before the start of the beer festival and we usually get a few interesting spectators.(kieth millen and kevin day last year.)

Bolasie & Zaha... the dilemma. We need a new play 'A'.

PLAN 'A'

With next season possibly being a difficult one (we can assume that based on the form since December), is it time to evolve our style of play and not focus so much on these two.

You get the feeling that most teams know what to do against them.......on top of that Bolasie being very hot and cold and Zaha having virtually no end product at all ...2 goals and 2 assists all season (hes not young anymore..has he reached his peak), im afraid im in favour of bringing better players in.

On their day they can be unstoppable, but its so rare now im not sure this style can be relied upon.

Of course you could blame Pardew on the fitness issues with Bolasie and tactics (does Zaha offer Ward enough cover?).

BTW im not saying get rid, they just need competition.

History of the weaker team winning the game

we woz robbed by Clattenburg.

plain and simple. In football, the team that scores first always has a massive advantage. Who knows what would have happened but for a dodgy referee.

But in fairness, ManUre were a better team. With all their money is it any surprise ? In terms of possession, shots on target, corners conceded, bouncing off the woodwork beyond Hennessey's reach, tackles won etc etc...they were all over us. We played like heroes. Like 300 spartans at the gates of Thermopylae. We should have won.

Normally you do not mind when the best team wins. But ManUre didnt beat us, Clattenburg did.

So, what other examples of David beating Goliath.

For openers.....Glasgow Celtic beating Barcelona a couple of years ago.

what others ?

Glad all over rap please note urgent changes

Right please no more downloading of the glad all over rap it's time to get Susan Boyle back where she belongs with every palace fans favourite "I Dreamed a fecking Dream"

Dubai - family hotels

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced family hotel in Dubai?

Going for a wedding in December and taking 2 yr old and hopefully a 3 month old. And a wife.

Staying for about 6 nights probably. May be bored by the end!

Looked at Atlantis so far which has some reasonably priced rooms. Jumeirah seems expensive.

Thanks

Pardew out!

This guy is too arrogant, he deliberately dropped Puncheon because of personal issues rather than for the benefit of the team. You could tell that there was a serious issue when Puncheon scored. Pardew has the same effect at every club, starts well then from the 2nd season players just don't buy into his philosophy and for that reason he has to go.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Camera Found at Wembley

On Saturday, I found a digital camera which belonged to the young lad sat next to me. Obviously I am keen to return this to the owner given that the atmosphere and the fans were amazing and made it a great experience (despite the result). If you or your son lost a camera and can confirm where you were sat I will get this returned to you.

Cheers

I left the programme I bought on coach 2 on Saturday. As it was for the grandchildren I need to get a replacement. Can anyone tell me the website to buy online? I have checked with Kingsferry and CPFC but they have not had it handed in.

Using Brighton to cure Post FA Cup Final Let Down

Lets face it we are feeling incredibly down but luckily we have Brighton as our rivals to cheer ourselves up. Lets use this thread to at least try and make ourselves feel a bit better. I'll start

Suggestion: Juan Mata

dimanche 22 mai 2016

Can't see it happening but Juan will have no future if Mourinho rocks up at Old Trafford, so he'll be going somewhere

Scott Dann Injury?

Clearly Scott Dann was pretty badly injured given that he went up the steps to get his runners up medal on crutches and with his leg in a brace. Does anyone know what exactly the injury was and how it happened? I was at the game and missed it and can't yet bring myself to watch it on TV!

Suggestion: Will Grigg

fantastic goal scoring record (albeit in league 1)

but mainly this

Should we warn Atlético Madrid about Mark Clattenburg?

Real Madrid must be nailed on next week surely.

If I knew an Atlético fan I would prepare them for what's about to happen to them in the European Cup final on Saturday.

If you know one, will you be kind and prepare them or just let them find out when it unravels?
I think it helped me to cope yesterday to have 3 or 4 weeks to prepare for being Clattenburged.

Rumour: Paul Dummett

The Chronicle reporting tonight that Stoke, West Brom, and Palace interested in 24 year old Newcastle left back Paul Dummett.

Our trophies..

Now I know we're all still down from yesterday but I want to make a graphic with everything we've won on it, kind of like a timeline. It'll have a silhouette of the trophy and the year it was won. The only problem I have is I'm struggling to find pictures of the trophies! I can easily get the 2004 and 2013 play off trophies and I think 1996 may have been the same as 2004. I've also got 1994 championship and ZDS.
So I still need pictures of 1989 play offs, 1979 championship and 1921 league one which may be the hardest. Positive rep for any help, Thanks guys!

Suggestion: Javier Hernandez

Worth going large on?

FA Charging £10 For A FA Cup Final Programme

Normally I buy programme's at matches involving Palace but Wembley charging £10 is just ripping off the fans and I noticed just how few Palace fans had bought one.

Wembley tickets are dear enough without expecting fans to fork out a further£10 for a souvenir programme.

I bet Wembley had thousands left unsold after the game and this is further proof that football is no longer the people's game unless you have deep pockets.

Thankfully Palace do not adopt this policy.

Monday evening

Dunno if this is where this belongs, but I am leaving to go back to Texas on Tuesday morning, just wondering if anyone wanted to meet up in central London tomorrow evening for drinks or something?

Suggestion: Mandanda

Had a look through the recent threads and couldn't see this so my apologies if it has already been made!

Steve Mandanda is a 31 year old goalkeeper currently playing for Ligue 1 side Marseille. Although only keeping only 9 clean sheets this season, he has only conceded on average just one goal per game (even less considering their demolition by PSG I believe.) Through watching some games of the French league, it is evident that he is a top quality goalkeeper and is second choice for the French national team. Marseille finished only slightly above the relegation zone this season, relegation spared by Mandanda's quality in goal and the goals of Batshuayi.

Mandanda is out of contract this summer and so we would be able to get him on a free transfer. At 31, for a goalkeeper he still has the best years ahead of him and hence interest from Everton is there. However, on only(!) 50k per week currently and citing a move to the Premier League, the departure of Mccarthy and/or Hennessey would accommodate this. I feel as if we would be foolish not to try and sign him.

Touts @ Wembley

Posting this as I'm curious.

Loads of touts about asking for tickets (buy or sell) yesterday.

Was wondering if anyone bought from them ... and how much they were?

I know a few here were forced to resort to the touts for tickets sadly.

Palace goal from our end (warning !)

happened to be videoing so got our goal. In two minds about uploading but here it is for those that want to watch (in HD so set to HD if you have the option).
Gutted beyond belief :(

Yesterday I little part of me died

I know this sounds very melodramatic
I am now in my mid sixties and if history repeats itself it is unlikely I will live long enough to see us make another cup final or win anything of note
I enjoyed less than three minutes of ecstatic pleasure yesterday before it was cruelly ripped away from me and yet I reflect on the rapturous joy experienced by Leicester this season.
I so wanted to experience this and thought our name was on the cup.
So the part of me that died was my hope of ever witnessing by beloved club win something and realise its potential.
I do hope I am wrong and it may be post loss blues, somehow I do not think I am wrong
It is a very sad day for me today as I am sure it is for everyone else but still I will make my prilgimage to Selhurst in the hope that my fears disappear in some glorious campaign in the near future

Reasons to be cheerful

1: We're not Brighton

Side-o at Wembley

It was heart-warming to see Side-o (Clive) at Wembley yesterday after I received a request and was able to get him disabled tickets thanks to Pam Groves.

Many fans came up to say hello to him and some had their picture taken with this popular Palace fan who over many years has sold thousands of bags of roasted Chestnuts and Palace programmes at Selhurst Park.

I feel honoured to have been able to fix it for him to attend the Cup Final and my heartfelt thanks go out to Pam for making this happen.

I have lost count of the number of years of service that Clive has given to CPFC and its fans and it is great to see him out of hospital after his stroke and I wish him all the best.

Clive's friend that Pm'd me about the possibility of him attending the Final is a true friend to Clive and a regular poster on the BBS who wished to remain anonymous and I feel "Glad All Over" that I was able to answer his call thanks to Pam.

CPFC FAMILY in every sense of the word.
