Has anyone else noticed this?
For all the home matches so far this season, a good number of seats have been empty in both the Whitehorse (block 1) and the Main Stand (family section block J). I'd guess at about 100-150 in total.
Now, these areas are 95% plus sold out to ST holders, so I assume it is ST holders not coming along to certain matches that causes this. But they always, at a glance at least, appear to be the same seats. Whether the ST holder attends or not cannot be discerned from the total stated attendance (as all STs are counted regardless of whether they are used or not), so I'm guessing there's no way of checking whether the owner is actually at the match or not.
Why the bother? Well, these STs are the cheapest in the ground, and I'd like to think that they're going to Palace fans who can take their respective families at an affordable price. What I suspect is that these 100-150 in question have actually been bought by either touts or supporters of other clubs wanting to guarantee a profit/ seat for the big matches. If this is the case, we need to stop it and revoke the offending STs.
Of course, it could just be Palace fans who can only make a few games each season buying a ST anyway. Les heinous, but shouldn't they at least make an effort to pass on their ticket?
Take a glance during the Chelsea & Liverpool matches, note how full it is, and then do the same for Sunderland, Villa and Stoke.
Or is it just me that is irked by this?
