24 Hours in Police Custody

Anybody been watching this? Episode 3 was last night but it's repeated tonight on 4/7 at 9:00. If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth watching. It's a fly-on-the-wall documentary about the procedure between arrest and the decision to either charge or release set in Luton.

The first featured an investigation into Conspiracy to Murder. I don't think I'm being too contentious in saying that the bloke featured appeared to be bang to rites. His lawyer wisely told him to keep schtum which turned out to be the winning tactic. His co-conspirators all went down; this guy got away with it by no-commenting such incriminating questions as 'how many children do you have'? I guess it's reassuring that the principle of beyond reasonable doubt won the day but the suspicion that he got away was quite compelling.

The second concerned 2 cases of domestic violence and harassment. In one case we had a stereotypical white-trash scumbag with a depressing history of violence against his partner who seemed genuinely bewildered as to why he was there. Sadly/predictably the girlfriend eventually declined to give evidence. On the other hand we had a MILFy woman accused of harassment. Again she appeared to be guilty as charged on the face of it. She clearly had mental health issues to the extent that it made for pretty uncomfortable viewing. The look of apparent incredulity on her face when it was suggested that it's unreasonable to climb through a window when nobody answers the front door was a bit unsettling.

Yesterday's was an uncomfortable look at a couple of child abuse cases. There was a wee bit too much detail in a couple of instances. The banality of the most serious offender was disturbing; the other bloke and his lifestyle had to be seen to be believed. I'd be interested to hear people's views about it so far; presumably it's available to watch on OD.
