Eddie Presland RIP

mercredi 4 août 2021

Found out this morning that Eddie passed away on Sunday aged 78, he had been suffering with cancer.

Eddie came to Palace from West Ham in January 1967 making his debut at Leeds at the end of the month. He played at left-back and missed only one game until his final first team appearance at Bury on 24th August 1968, a contentious game that included the sending off of Mark Lazarus and captain John Sewell receiving the only booking of his career that, I believe, was later rescinded. Eddie then lost his place to new signing John Loughlan in October 1968

Eddie made 65 first team appearances but continued to appear for the reserves until the end of the 1969-70 season. He was loaned to Colchester for five games in October 1969 and after Palace moved into non-league as a player and then manager.

Between 1964 and 1972 Eddie represented Essex Cricket Club in a total of 54 County and one-day games.

Our thoughts are with his wife and family.
