I see that big European leagues are refusing to let their players travel to South America for the S. American WC qualifiers, and an argument is brewing with the parties involved.
They seem to be hiding behind some Covid Red List country excuse. Not sure why Chile is still on the Red List TBH.
I say watch this space because AFCON is in January. Liverpool have Salah and Mane. I am thinking they are preparing the waters. Not like Liverpool to put club before country.
There is talk of switching the fixyures to mid October, but the likes of Inter don-t like that because it clashes with the league and Champion-s League fixtures. I
Based on that, the real reason on the embargo is pretty evident.
No problem for the Euros, or a Copa America in plague ridden Brasil, all in close season. And for a raft of pointles friendlies pre/tournaments. But now the serious club business is back on, it becomes an issue. Chelsea, for example, lost a player last weekend who got the virus while being free to play in The Plague Island League.
