Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

CAN SOMEONE AT THE CLUB CONFIRM THIS , 1000 or 1250 .?

When you Boil it Down- how Many of our Players are Premiership Standard?

I say we have eleven definites and four maybes/on their day's.

Definites are: Speroni, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare, Cabaye, MacArthur, Bolasie, Puncheon, Zaha, Wickham. (Our first 11)

Maybes/on their day's: Jedinak, Ledley, Hennessey, Kelly.

The rest simply aren't up to it.

Looking at that one could argue we have over achieved somewhat in the past three seasons....

What makes a good manager?

Reading all the time whether Pardew should stay or go but what is the job description of a successful manager? and how has Pardew compared to that criteria?

Recruitment?

Tactical awareness? Prior to kick off

The ability to change things correctly during a match?

Player motivation?

Choice of Back room staff?

Set plays...both offensively and defensively?

Appropriateness of the Work on the training ground?

Playing style and team ethics?

For me recruitment has to be questioned........last year the French league which from his time at Newcastle he should know inside out boasted PAYET and KANTE and CABAYE....not too sure we got the best deal there.......WICKHAM? LEE? SAKO? ADEBAYOR? McCARTHY.

Tactical awareness........ok at setting teams out to defend but always seemingly at the expense of scoring goals......never gets the balance right.......relies almost totally on individual brilliance rather than a well planned and thought through plan of action.

The ability to change? During a match???? Not sure he would have supporters suggesting this is a strength.

Player motivation.......seems to believe that giving players freedom is the best form of management

Back room staff........not really his call

Set plays.......still benefitting from the Pulis regime here

Appropriateness of training......I cannot comment as not party to what goes on but the recent run of defeats suggest this is also not a strength

Playing style / ethos.........not really sure I know what this is in relation to Pardews footballing philosophy..........IH wanted to play like Barcelona and TP like Stoke....not quite sure what Pardew believes in

Player Ratings And Reviews: Newcastle (away)

Hennessey 6 His critics will say he was at fault for goal. Maybe he was (I don't think so btw) but some good saves/handling/alert keeping too in any case

Souare 6 Fine. Defended very well i thought, against a tricky opponent
Delaney 7 MOM Our best player, blocks, headers, tackles, leadership. Showed Mitrovic who is boss
Dann 6 Looks a little out of sorts. Pulled Townsend down for the goal but correct thing to do as Delaney was out of position
Ward 6 Some good headers in first half. Abysmal in possession

Jedinak 6 Solid enough
Cabaye 6 Should never have taken pen, awful pass completion in 1st half especially but has the nous

Bolasie 6 Excellent first half, well struck shots, pace, strength etc but faded massively. He's not fit enough to play in midfield
Mccarthur 7 Great to see him back - good energy, playing way out of position - he's not got attacking ability
Puncheon 5 Did very little of note in an attacking sense.

Wickham 6 Held it up ok, classy touches, no support

Subs:

Sako 5 Didn't affect the game. Some decent footwork but nothing of note
Adebayor 5 Nothing
Gayle 5 Nothing

Great to see Wickham and Mccarthur get game time. Formation was all wrong - Bolasie should have been through the middle. Subs just don't offer enough. We missed our POTY massively. Don't think the tactics at the start did us any favours. The best player on the pitch by a mile was Townsend. Quick, worked bloody hard, great free kick, a constant menace. If only Jedinak had taken the pen we could have bought him but they will probably stay up now.

Jedinak takes pens, Punch takes free kicks

Please please please

Suggestion: Deandre Yedlin

Pacy right back, gets forward, works hard, young. Down the pecking order at Spurs. Thoughts?

Wenger - Arsenal Fans need to get real

He has done a brilliant job and Arsenal will be in a good long term position.

He deserves better support from the fans.

At the same time, with my Palace hat on, I am quite happy for them not to be careful what they wish for.

Palace fan (Mum) floored at semi

Just to let you know the lady in question (my mother) is ok and making a slow recovery.

My only grievance in all this was that the two blokes involved didn't once ask mum or my wife if they were ok and disappeared off into the concourse. Poor effort!

Time for Tony Bloom to step down?

If the unthinkable occurs, and plucky Brighton's £200m promotion wave finally pops them onto the hallowed beaches of the PL, will Tony have to step down?

I understand the FA's fit and proper person/owner test is somewhat more stringent than the League's, and it is difficult to imagine them looking kindly on a man who allegedly makes his fortune profiting off the weak minded gambling addicts who frequent his seedy betting underworld dominion.

I sense the honourable, morally untouchable followers of BHAFC would welcome the news. Bloom's money is already in the bank, and they could now cut him loose in the knowledge that his revenue stream could be transplanted directly with TV money. It is an open secret in football that it has been an emotional struggle for their fans to continue their moral crusade against basically the whole of football whilst their club's own success has been built on the salty tears of recovering alcoholic divorcees with inappropriately large ownership of two and a half inch long pens that only work for three minutes.

So far, Tony Bloom has declined to comment

Suggestion: Victor Valdes

Free agent in the summer.

Rumour: Cyriac Gohi

The Adder reporting that Palace and West Ham interested in 25 year old Oostende striker Cyriac Gohi, who was born in the Ivory Coast. Scored 10 in 14 games according to Wiki, but at 5'8'' maybe too small to play as loan striker, probably better behind the front man. Anyway it's all hypothetical and probably Agent talk.

Weird Chrome rpoblem

Hi,

Been using chrome for many a year on multiple devices without any major issues but for a while now if I scroll the screen goes blank and it seems to refresh and go to the top of the page - not back to where I was.

This seems to happen to various degress on the ipad, W7 and W10 and TBH today it's got to the point where its unusable.

Anyone else had anything like this?

Official club website

Looking at the official club website, it is difficult to believe we have reached the FA Cup Final. Still no mention of kits or stadium ends despite that info being available a couple of days ago.

And you might have thought there would be something about when kick-off time will be confirmed or when they expect to have ticket details.

We're in the Cup Final for God's sake. Can't we at least recognise that achievement on the official website.

On my way to stay with friends in Newcastle. Just been told it's snowing at the moment!

Cheap Air Fares

jeudi 28 avril 2016

In need of a bit of advice if there is anyone who has or regularly buys cheap air tickets?

I am aiming to get to Athens for just a few days at the end of May on a bit of a budget but the cheapest fares on easyjet and lastminute are way out of my reach.

Newcastle game - lift offered or sought from London

Yep, I've got my Newcastle ticket all sorted, but the original plan to stay up there the night before went all wrong due to other commitments.

Then the price of the train tickets became stupidly expensive.

So now I can drive up in my own car from south London and drive back, or not go, or become a passenger in someone else's car.

Therefore does anyone want a lift to Newcastle and back? I can take 2 non-smoking adults as passengers in comfort. Very early start Saturday morning and come back after the game.

I have done this with fellow Palace fans to Cardiff City away on a Boxing Day, and Blackpool away on a Bank Holiday.

Or - if you can take a (non-smoking) passenger, and bring me back to London afterwards (no hurry), then can I come with you?

If you want to get a lift with me, then I can pick you up/drop you off anywhere within reason on route between London and Newcastle.

It is very short notice so please send me a PM asap.

Uber a viable alternative?

Wondering if anyone out there has any information of whether uber is an actual viable alternative to get from Heathrow to Wembley (hotel is near the stadium). Or if the express to Paddington is still the best since it is still early enough to get a decent priced ticket? Any thoughts?

A question about aircraft..

A plane is standing on a large treadmill or conveyor belt. The plane moves in one direction, while the conveyor moves in the opposite direction. This conveyor has a control system that tracks the plane speed and tunes the speed of the conveyor to be exactly the same (but in the opposite direction). Can the plane take off?

Mark Farmer RIP

I am very sorry to learn of the death of actor Mark Farmer at the age of just 53.

Maybe quite a few younger members won't know him, but those of a similar age to me (53) should do.

Mark was in Minder, Grange Hill and Relative Strangers to name but a few, but for me my strongest memory of him was when he played the lead role in the magnificent BBC 1983 production - Johnny Jarvis.

If you missed it at the time, you missed a great thing. Never repeated but can be found on DVD if you look creatively, Johnny Jarvis is something you won't regret getting hold of if you like good acting, a gripping storyline, dramas set in London and fantastic music along the way.

Thank you, Mark, for your acting work in general, but above all for your role in Johnny Jarvis. I won't forget you. RIP.

I've just become aware that CPFC Foundation are offering free sessions, aimed at men & women > 40 years old;

I guess it'll be similar to the Fitter Fans scheme they used to run up until last year, which I can vouch for as radically changing my life for the better.

Only one team in England does the "We Love You" football anthem justice and that is the Crystal Palace fans in full voice.

I have just seen a Leicester Choir no less singing it on Sky Sports News and Sky saying that it may catch on.

Sky's love-in with anything Leicester is cringeworthy to the point of being annoying.

FA Cup Final Record

Please can we have details of the above in due course.

We must keep up the tradition of an FA Cup Final record. Download it, buy it on vinyl, do whatever.

I doubt I'll ever see another Final, so come on.

Please note this includes an open top bus through Croydon, we are in it to win it. On our day, we are as good as any team.

FA Cup Final - Travel ex USA/Canada

The point of this thread is to be a place to swap travel tips for those heading to Wembley from North America. Air fares around this time seem to be pretty wacky - I looked yesterday and Economy fares on BA from NY were more expensive than Premium Economy. Both were around $1900. I ended up booking Coach on AA to Edinburgh for under $1000. I'll make my way south by train and spend a few days in Scotland on the way back. They had similar fares to Man.. arrgh.
Other options from NY in include LA Compagnie which is all business class from Newark to Luton (a small town near Watford) at $1600 and Norwegian to Gatwick from NY,Orlando and Oakland .

Abide With Me

For me as a 15 year old this was very very emotional at the 1990 cup final, remember feeling so so proud of my little club and yes there were tears.

Wembley semi final ticket use

So I'm not normally a sentimental type of fan, have never kept programs or tickets from games but when I was emptying out my jacket I came across my Wembley ticket and couldn't bare to throw it away. I've decided that no matter what happens in the final I'm going to frame a Palace shirt with the semi and final ticket in it.

Anyone else doing anything with their Wembley momentos?

Cabaye and Newcastle United

Interesting article from a Newcastle United fan on how Cabaye's time in Newcastle compares with his time at Palace:

All celebrities that share a surname must be related!

Back in the 90s there was a daft rumour going around that Paul Gascoigne's Dad was Bamber Gascoigne, who was the presenter of University Challenge at the time. For some reason I was reminded of that recently, so thought I'd start a thread listing names of some other celebrities who "must" be related.

So, to start: the Roman-era historian Mary Beard is married to Frank Beard, the drummer in ZZ Top.

Suggested Team and Formation For: Newcastle Away

Half-way through the week now, time to put the FA Cup in the cupboard for a while and concentrate on pressing business.
A key game, how to win it ?

Is your business or company supporting Palace in the Cup?

Suggestion: Borja "Bastón" González (striker, 23)

I think we should try and persuade Atlético Madrid to loan us Borja Bastón (real name Borja González), currently at Eibar in Spain. He's been loaned out by Atlético for the past five seasons, last season he scored 22 for Zaragoza in the Spanish second tier and this season has so far scored 17 for lowly Eibar in the top division. He is currently valued at £3-4 million but Atlético probably will want to hold on to him so may be willing to give him some Premiership experience, as they already have more strikers than they know what to do with, what with Vietto, Griezman, Fernando Torres, Correa, etc.

I doubt they would sell him (in spite of being on loan for five years). However, his contract is up for renewal this summer and Atlético are not allowed to buy any new players for the next two years, so will be keen to renew Bastón's contract, but Bastón can say to Atlético Madrid "up yours" if he wants - and would be a free agent to come to us or anyone else. This is unlikely, though, what with Atlético being his childhood team, and he is more likely to squeeze out of Atlético Madrid a really good contract, because there's nothing in the rules to say that Atlético can't improve existing contracts over the next two years.

Which of course will mean that he'll be available to go on loan again, unless Atlético really feel he is ready for the first team ahead of their other existing stars.

Definitely one to keep an eye on, and he already plays in the red and blue of Eibar!

The difference between Crystal Palace and Watford fans

Well it made me laugh... :D

The Premier League 'goal difference' table

Very often, the teams which win on points also win on goal difference. And the crap teams for points also have a crap goal difference.

This year's Premier league is interesting for many different reasons. The team at the top, do not have the best GD. Villa are not just rubbish, they have been dogsh1t. Bournemouth and Stoke are good on points but weak on GD. There is also a yawning gap between ManUre and the teams above them. And, most interestingly for us, although we struggled to pick up points this Springtime, our GD if better than the teams around us.

That really does suggest that we played well and were unlucky a lot of the time. It also suggests Stoke have been very lucky with their outcomes after leaking a lot of goals and not scoring so many themselves.

Play attacking football, play the Pulis conservative football, play the Leicester 1-0 victory every time. Its all in the Goal Difference. Follow the link and see....

1990 best football year - here we go - this will be better

1990 holds very fond memories of FA cup hysteria in Croydon, Italia 90....De ja vu all over again except this time we will beat the scum and England win the euros. Coming 1st or 2nd next season would be a bonus:)
Have rewatched the semi and I think we look even better than Being there. Have had a second look at the highlights and still can't quite believe that was us, can't quite believe we are in the FA Cup Final but I am starting to believe it. My oh my, I am so chuffed - we are going to face off with Man U again. How F'ing absolutely brilliant is that! So so happy😀

Dream scenario

If Manchester United finish 7th and we beat them in the final we'll qualify for Europe and knock them out of next season's Europa League in the process.

Wouldn't that be nice? Especially if Wilf happens to get the winner :)

FA Cup Final Song 2016

Reckon the squad should record their own version of this little beauty?

(P.S. This is meant to be a light hearted post before people start tripping over themselves to whinge how embarrassing this would look to Millwall fans)

(P.P.S Personally I wouldn't mind if the squad did record an FA Cup song. Especially if it was a charity record and all profits went to Scarlett's Wish to Walk for example).

One off or a revolution?

With Leicester now almost certain of PL victory and us in the FA Cup final and 90 mins away from winning probably the most famous and historic national knockout tournament cup - if these underdogs both pull it off, is 2016 the year when football changed.

It would be highly ironic if just as PL money kicks in to make revenues absolutely eye watering that the teams winning all the accolades prove to be those run in teh black, in accordance to FFP, with relatively sensible wages and annual expenditure, with an eye for all round club and team improvements.

I hope we stuff United - like many we can remember that **** Hughes scoring with 6 mins left and how unfortunate we were that season to only have wrighty for 30 mins.

Come on you Palace and give me something in my lifetime for me to remember, please!

Stewards For The Disabled At Wembley

Wembley took on board all of my points raised about the bad experiences I suffered from at the Play-Off Final and this time at the FA Cup Semi Final the service provided was first class with clear directions and staff only too willing to help.

They accepted that some disabled fans had brought their own food and drink and allowed it in and had a very good knowledge of where the disabled facilities were toilets etc.

Personally shown to our excellent seats and there was even a lift available for our use.

Many thanks go to Pam for the excellent service that she provides for disabled Palace fans at home games and when it comes to tickets for away games.

Can anyone recommend a surveyor

Hi all,

I'm in the process of buying a house in South London, and having been less than impressed with a couple of surveyors who I have used previously, I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a surveyor who they have used who might be able to take the job on.

It's a fairly standard 3 bed post war house, so nothing too unusual building wise. Does anyone have any suggestions for who I might use.

Many thanks.

Which Man Utd XI would our current team fare better against in the Cup Final and why?

You've made your choice (hopefully), so let's hear your reasons in relation to what you perceive to be the strengths and weaknesses of our current squad against the respective United sides of both then and now.

Hillsbo

The Hillsborough verdict has been reached today, by the jury. Result to be announced tomorrow.
To view the link you have to Register or Login

I've had my eyes opened by 'some' of the evidence/statements released so far.

Leaving aside the fact that fans turned up late (allegedly ticketless and boozed-up), I think the Commanding Officer should be found guilty of manslaughter.

Rather than do a reccy of the stadium to familiarise himself with the layout, he conducted 'other tasks'. This was his first visit to the stadium.
He doesn't recall what the 'other tasks' were, so I'd assume he was in the pub too.

Any guesses on the verdict ?

I really hope someone goes down for this, even though it is 25 years too late

London Marathon

What a day yesterday was, I ran the London Marathon in my target time of under 3.5 hours before heading straight to Wembley to watch a great performance.

The Marathon was the first of two events I am doing this year to raise money for two fantastic small South London charities - I am also doing a half ironman next month.

I am raising money for the Maypole Project in Bromley that helps kids with complex and often life threatening illnesses and supports their families and the South East Cancer Help Centre in Purley which is one of the most remarkable places I have ever been provide guidance and complementary therapies for those with cancer.

Because of the size of the charities most of what I raise will be spent on the front line and if anyone can spare any pennies I'd be incredibly grateful and apologies for the grovelling nature of the message!

Tickets help - Flying to UK all the way from New Zealand for the Cup Final

I am not a part time palace fan (maybe a part-time bbs'er), and have done many long trips.. just to get to a game. Also we (current overseas members) do have to suffer weird hours of nights to access to watch a live game or suffer the crass MOTD review.....

so to the point is - I need HELP, as i am in New Zealand, and my main source of tickets is my best friend and brother.... when he goes to buys his slots of FA cup Final tickets, .... this time around..... i am out of the ínner circle. he has kids to consider, so i said that is great..... grrrrr but understand,

So when FA Cup tickets details come out, if there is any kind hearted CPFC fan season member, I need a FA cup final ticket, will pay full price and also donate to neil witherow and also to the season member charity of their choice - and also buy lots of drinks.

I will sort out my Air flights from Auckland NZ to London in a few day.

Pls private message me if you think you can add me to your FA Cup Final ticket purchases - as a jet lagged international travelling crazy palace fan - i assure you,,,,, you will make my year/decade(s).... i was at the 1990's!!!!

Dallas Eagle (irish Paul) Fitzsimons

I also think - is New Zealand the furthest you can travel 'from'in the world, to go to a FA cup game?

Suggested Team and Formation For: Man Utd (Cup Final)

A bit early? Here goes anyway:

------------------------Hennessey--------------------------------
Ward------------Dann-------------Delaney---------------Souare
----------Cabaye-------Jedinak-------Mccarthur-----------------
--------Zaha-----------------------------------------------------------
-----------------Wickham------------------Bolasie---------

Subs:

Speroni
Kelly
Ledley
Puncheon
Sako
Adebayor
Gayle

Game plan:
Cabaye to stay very deep to nullify threat of Martial. Mccarthur in to add more defensive solidity and pace in centre mid. Get the ball into Zaha's feet and long to Wickham and Bolasie (all 3 will need to press Carrick and their defence extremely hard when we don't have the ball). If we keep Martial quiet we will win.

HF Display

The flags across the lower tier looked great now I've seen a few pictures and the replay, very effective especially with the bigger flags in their section.

Man Utd will no doubt have a club/Wembley-paid for display for the final, which I know that our Owners will and should turn down.

It should be their time to shine their display skills across the world in the Final, as there's no doubting they are the front bearers of the Ultra movement in this country, as shown yesterday by Watford who have pretty much copied everything sung by Palace fans.

Semi Final at Wembley - thoughts after the event

I was very critical of the semi-finals being at Wembley, and would not have considered making the effort to get there just because it was at Wembley, but I have to say after watching the game and seeing the Palace fans, I have mellowed a bit in my thinking.

I know I was not alone in this thinking... What is the feeling today of those that went?

Happy it was a Wembley, or would it have been the same at Old Trafford or Villa Park.

Crystal Ball: Newcastle

A win in this fixture puts us in the desirable but uncomfortable position of needing one more point.

Score, scorers and attendance please.

1990/2015 Starting eleven 'mix up'

OK ... a bit of fun

The starting 11 in the final of 1990 was;

Nigel Martyn GK

Defence
John Pemberton/Andy Thorn/Gary O’Reilly/Richard Shaw

Midfield
Phil Barber/Geoff Thomas/Alan Pardew/Andy Gray/John Salako

Forward
Mark Bright

Who from todays starting (SF) 11 and that from the final of 1990 would be in your 'mix up' team....

My pick would be

Martyn
Ward/Thorn/Dann/Shaw
Zaha/Cabaye/Thomas/Puncheon/Salako
Bright

It's a tough choice between Salako and Bolasie for that LH side but I feel Salako would be the more consistant crosser of the ball

I was amazed to remember that there were only two subs allowed back then,,, so for this thread purposes I'll allow two subs, which means Ian Wright gets on the bench as does Bolasie

Anyone else want to fess up?

Alright, I will admit...

I felt it coming with a good 5 minutes before injury time and true enough come the final whistle couldn't help sobbing my eyes out.

I wasn't old enough for the last final so this means so much to me.

Can't wait for next month!

HOLMESDALE FANATICS/ULTRAS - Please read !!!

Whilst I am incredibly proud of your fantastic displays and have even donated to help with your displays in the past. Today i was absolutely disgusted with your behaviour, you behaved like bullies and total animals!!

We were sat in the front row of Block 111, I did not ask for these specific seats, I liaised with the Disability Co-Ordinator at CPFC. We did this to find the best seats suitable for my son Max, who is profoundly Deaf and has Usher Syndrome. This means he is losing his eye sight, has tunnel vision and has 10 degrees of remaining sight left, therefore needs a straight view of the pitch in front of him.

We arrived to our seats at about 3ish, a group of you then intimidated us and tried to bully us out of these seats, saying that they were your allocation. You tried immensely to persuade us to move using bullying tactics, my other son then explained to one of your group that we would not be moving, we had paid for these seats and he explained his brother’s condition. One of you then asked us to move yet again. You then started to get aggressive towards us because you wasn’t getting your own way, one of you then took your jacket off and offered my younger son a fight, he refused and remained calm. Your other HF friends pulled you away!! Max then noticed (bearing in mind he is profoundly deaf, relies on sign-language and can’t hear what you are saying) that a few of your group were pointing at him and making comments.

Because you still wasn’t getting your own way you then threatened another friend in our group, he said to you he was 44 years old and has been going to Palace since before you was even born and to grow up. My friend said he had every right to sit there just as much as you did. One of you then went towards him to fight him, however another one of the HF pulled him away. At this point Max sat down and cried his eyes out. You guys are lucky to have all your sight, all your hearing and be able to join in the fun. Do you not think my son would love to have that experience too ??

The game went on, we joined in your atmosphere, we sang our hearts out, we clapped and Max enjoyed feeling the beat of the drums which were behind us. We didn’t even mind when we scored and you was falling over us, it was all part of the joyous goal experience. BUT, then during the course of the game you decided to fight amongst yourselves, trying to pull one of your group away from a steward. What was he doing to get pulled away in the first place!? Luckily, police spotted that we were getting crushed in your brawl and pulled myself and Max out of the mosh-pit that you was creating.

You ruined a young person’s day today (he’s around the same age as most of you), because of your bullying tactics, your selfishness and your low life behaviour. I felt ashamed when police and stewards had to rush to stop you fighting amongst yourselves. It felt like the whole of Wembley were looking around to see what was going on, and you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I wouldn’t want to call you scum-bags but today you acted in such a way that totally infuriates me, makes me ashamed and embarrassed to call you OUR CLUB’s fanatics!!

On a positive note - we won :lux::lux::lux:

Player Ratings And Reviews: Watford (FA cup semi)

Thought they all played well. Great team selection from AP:

Hennessey 7 Faultless handling.

Souare 7 defended well
Delaney 8 gets an extra point for near post header
Dann 7 solid
Ward 7 fine

Cabaye 7 ok
Jedinak 8 solid. Game made for him
Puncheon 7 some good moments that didn't quite come off
Zaha 7 worked his bollox off. End product needs work

Bolasie 8 a menace throughout
Wickham 9 MOM not just for winner, he worked his arse off and held ball up superbly. Great finish.

Thought we deserved it and should have been more comfortable. Mccarthur great energy at end.

Merchandise at away games ?

Would it be a good idea for the club to organise a small team that could bring up a selection of club merchandise for away games ?

There must be a market for fans who don't get the chance to go to Selhurst that much but would like to buy some kit.

I know we have a website, but there are always size differences when buying off the web. I think I could easily spend a small fortune and perhaps others feel the same.

Might be a good opportunity to shift the current kits :p

Dougie Freedman comments on Semi Final/Adebayor

Quote:

On BT this morning: Adebayor's signing was a difficult one for me to swallow being a Palace man. He 'aint done it for me, the dynamics are not there for me.

"I think you may as well give the young kid from Peterborough a go, Gayle, you may as well throw him up front.

"I think that's been a disappointing one, trying to get goals in the team.

Talking about Palace's team and performance at Man Utd in the week: "Well that side there will get relegated, it's as simple as that. That's a relegation side, there's no doubt.

"Pardew's changed the team because of the semi-final and I don't blame him. That is a fantastic occasion and Palace fans will relish going there."

Travelling from Staffordshire/West Midlands tomorrow?

because the return trains finish so ridiculously early, and with there being a very good chance of:

1/extra time
2/penalties

I'm going to drive down tomorrow.

If there are any midland Eagles want a lift/share costs and discuss why Speroni is still clearly our no1, then let me know...

Claire Lomas - Vitality 10K

Everyone must have heard about this lady by now.

She's paralysed but walked the London marathon in 16 days in her bionic suit!!!! She walks for her charity supporting spinal injuries. She has been banned by the vitality organisers because under the rules no motorised assistance is allowed! Twats!

She says she's going to do it anyway.

Lets make it worth her while.

Is AP going to wear it at the match?

What would you personally pay for success?

In a totally hypothetical world. How much would you pay if you could guarantee Palace would make the final on Sunday?

In an alternative view, how much would you accept in payment (in terms of betting winnings) for Palace to lose?

Faggots!

I recall loving these porky balls of deliciousness when I was young

I've just had a pack of Brains Faggots in gravy with mashed potato and veg.

Guess what, they were rank! I thought they used to be fresh when younger but only in freezer section now. Would love to have a great faggots again.

Seems we paid just under £1.2m in agent fees over the January transfer window.

We only signed Ade didn't we?... Seems a bit steep for a player on a free looking for a club.

Will be fit again next season and will be well down the pecking order now Origi is doing the business at Liverpool. I think he will suit our style well and heavily linked to us before. Sign him up.

A little help

A friend of mine was robbed recently and he lost a gift from his granddad which was a watch given to palace people by real Madrid in 1962 when they came over. I think they used to give them out at lots of friendlies. I would like to replace it if possible.

Any help tracking one down would be appreciated.

Thanks

I was looking down the lower leagues and noticed John Egan, i couldn´t place the name. Wiki reminded me he was on loan with us a few years ago.

I hope we look at a few of the younger players as potential buys. Anyone got any recommendations?

Broken outside phone line question

jeudi 21 avril 2016

My neighbour employed a tree feller to trim a huge tree and whilst doing the job , He broke the telephone cable that runs from the telegraph pole to my property , I was out at the time and he taped it back together at the pole and where it pulled out of the junction box on my wall without telling me or my neighbour telling me . They also entered my property without my permission to bodge the junction box repair .
It's such a bodge job it's comical to think they thought I would not notice .

Now When you ring my home phone via my mobile you get a ring tone but the home does not ring and you can't dial out or get the Internet .

I have BT coming tomorrow and wondered who pays to reconnect the outside junction box to the pole and if my internal phone wire has been stretched from the junction box to my phone and Internet who is liable for that damage .

Speroni versus Pardew

who will you travel with ?

Les, thank you for responding to the thread however, as a BBSer for 17 years I was rather taken aback by being banned and furthermore by your justification in the thread above, then you locked it. I guess at this point you can just hit the permaban button and not even give me opportunity to flounce, or you can try to understand why the moderation has been paradoxical.

The reason given was
Quote:

"because you were being a twat like now on a wind up"
When queried by other members you justified it with

It was a little more than that

I agree, and that's what makes this place good. Only it does rather contradict that I received no warning and a ban. There's been no PM from any mod offering even a private explanation, summary or reasoning, just you saying I was being a twat, deserved it etc but there's no evidence because all of my posts were deleted, even posts on other threads nothing to do with any of it

As others were having trouble I posted him a link to Acestream, not a direct stream link but the main page to where they can be obtained. I did this because Acestream is the best you can get imvho, and quite a few people appreciated it.

BOOM. Banned, about 15-20 posts deleted - your evidence of me being a twat. No really, this is ALL that I said. I don't actually even know who did it, there's been nothing from anyone, just locking the last thread. The only thing I ask is that moderating on this site isn't biased, unfortunately it's pretty clear that I've been singled out for **** all and you know it....

Seeing multiple reports that he has died, aged 57 :(

New Song to stifle Durham Millwall et al

On the Steam Train thread one or two people have worried about our street cred with the likes of Durham

I say we take the wind out of their sails by embracing the whole idea

To the tune of the Conga we sing

'We're the Stripey Nigels, We're the Stripey Nigels, Na, Na, Na,Naa, Na, Na Na, Naa, Oi!
We're going on a steam train, We're going on a steam train, Na, Na,Na Naa, Na, Na,Na, Naa'

For Saints game last line becomes
We came on a steam train etc

If we've had enough beers we steam train - I mean conga - up and down the terraces.

If we've had even more beers we move our arms like steam locomotives

We will undoubtedly appear the coolest fans around (maybe)

Explanation request

Could a mod please provide an explanation as to why I received a summary ban from the forums during the match yesterday and had ALL of my posts deleted which I had made during the day.

I'd like to know if it matches the reason that David did it because he'd embarrassed himself with a technical gaff, whilst being unnecessarily rude, after I tried to help him to watch the match in HD last night. Did we just see some classic Irish poor temperament for which they are infamous for? And if so could this be put into the rules in order that nobody tries to help him again, even with his Velcro trainers.

Thanks

Semi Final thoughts facts and feelings

mercredi 20 avril 2016

So 5 days to go...

Thought we could do with a thread to discuss hopes, fears and nerdy observations in what is arguably one of our club's biggest games in its history.

This will be only our 4th FA Cup semi final appearance.

1976 0-2 Southampton
1990 4-3 Liverpool :lux:
1995 2-2 0-2 Man Utd

So every semi final, including Sunday's now, we have faced a club higher in the league than us.

We have failed to score in every league game prior to our semi final appearances:

76: Millwall 0-0
90: Norwich 0-2
95: A Villa 0-0
16: Man U 0-2

Personally, I'm finding it hard to shake off the feeling that our Play Off victory against Watford will by the hands of fate, be reversed. I know, crazy: different players, different managers but there it is. Just can't see myself leaving Wembley again with us celebrating and seeing Watford fans dejected. Mind you, I was at Villa Park in 1990, and I never in my heart of hearts for one minute believed we would do it.

I remember the build up to the Liverpool game, and the one hope (only hope) I heard muted was that some how Nige and the defence would keep out a barrage of Liverpool attacks for 90 mins. Then we get a free kick 30 yards out in the last minute and finally Andy Gray hits the target instead of row Z in the stand, and we steal it.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Man Utd (away)

Speroni 7 Excellent saves, poor kicking and distribution

Souare 6 solid apart from crazy tackle - should have seen red
Delaney 6 Own goal and good shot aside he was ok
Mariappa 5 Not up to this level
Kelly 5 Won't be giving Ward any sleepless nights

Jedinak 6 Passing ok, solid if unspectacular
Cabaye 6 fine but didn't help us win the midfield

Sako 4 Appalling lack of effort and defnesive ability. No crosses or shots with left foot. At fault for their 2nd.
Adebayor 5 Touch not quite there
Zaha 7 MOM wish he could cross or shoot. Skill is second only to Neymar.

Subs

Mutch 6 did ok
Mccarthur n/a fine
wickham n/a

no injuries or suspensions. team picks itself for Sunday. assume JM won't be fit to start. COYP

Julian Speroni - Pardew hang your head in shame !

We've endured 2 clowns in goal all season with a back four who cannot trust them, the double save Julian just pulled off was out of the top drawer, oh what a different season it could of been with our stalwart in goal.......

Barry Bannan POTS (Sheff Wed)

UCI Downhill World Cup

Hi all,

I have seen a few threads here following the road biking, but none for mountain bikes! Must be a few on here that follow the downhill WC.

The english have a real following around the world, with some of the quickest & stylish riders.

Round 1 was two weekends ago, with Danny Hart (UK) coming third in the elite mens, and Rachael Atherton coming 1st in the elite women's.

This weekend is round 2 that is held in Cairns. Weather doesn't look great which normally favours the UK riders.

Would love to here if anyone else follows the races!

Luke

Sydney Palace fans - FA Cup semi final

mardi 19 avril 2016

Calling all Sydney based Eagles.

Sunday night is going to be a big meet up. A pub crawl will be starting from 9PM at our usual hang out, The Royal Exhibition Hotel opposite Central station on Chalmers St.

The route will lead us to the Star Casino by around midnight which is where we will be watching the semi final, kick off 1am. This is the only place open and serving alcohol on a Sunday night.

Let's make it a big turnout so we can out number and out sing the Watford gang who will also be at the casino by all accounts. No excuses - ANZAC day on Monday for recovering before work! :lux:

PM me, or post on this thread or on our Facebook group if you need any more info. Cheers

Kit Announcements News & Rumours 2016/2017

It's getting to that time of the year where clubs start announcing their kits for next season. We normally have a general thread each year for kit announcements, so here it is! I'll get us started.

Here is the horrendous effort announced by Millwall today for their new away kit. Newcastle anyone?

Suggestion: Cédric Bakambu

Scored 22 goals in 42 games this season for Villarreal. Is only 25 so fits in with our squad also plays for DR congo, could the premier league and its new money deal draw him in.

50% off if we dont reach the play offs for 2016/17

Leeds United will offer their supporters a refund on season tickets if the club does not reach the Championship play-offs next season.

Leeds are 12th in the Championship this year and hopes of reaching the play-offs have been a slim prospect all season.

Yet owner Massimo Cellino, in his latest attempt to win over supporters of the Yorkshire club, has decided to offer money back if Leeds fail to finish in the top six next year.

Boat trip prior to Semi final 1st drink free

Just got an email from the M v Royalty people

A bit late in the day for me but still a good experience for those who haven't done a trip before.

Hello all you beautifully wonderful Crystal Palace fans,

Excited about your day out at Wembley on Sunday? Yes, we are too!

Still deciding what to do on the day? Well, Wembley doesn't come around very often, therefore, why not make a full day of it and join us for a bit of fun in the morning on the water.

For just £15, you will get:

Your first drink from the well stocked bar (seems to be the most important part to cover off !)
Three hours on the water
A DJ pumping out the tunes, with some recognisable sounds from the terraces of Selhurst (I know terraces don't exist these days, but hey ho!)
A great time with fellow "Red'n'Blue-ers"
Memories to last a lifetime for the special day

Embark: 09:45 hrs
Disembark: 13:00 hrs

The boat leaves from / comes back to Festival Pier which is just five minutes walk from Waterloo Station. From Waterloo, tubes can be taken direct to Wembley, or you can nip down to Clapham Junction for the direct overground service to Wembley Central. Easy peasy !!

What is also easy, is how to book your space . . . . .

Make contact with Grant Saunders:
