What makes a good manager?

samedi 30 avril 2016

Reading all the time whether Pardew should stay or go but what is the job description of a successful manager? and how has Pardew compared to that criteria?

Recruitment?

Tactical awareness? Prior to kick off

The ability to change things correctly during a match?

Player motivation?

Choice of Back room staff?

Set plays...both offensively and defensively?

Appropriateness of the Work on the training ground?

Playing style and team ethics?

For me recruitment has to be questioned........last year the French league which from his time at Newcastle he should know inside out boasted PAYET and KANTE and CABAYE....not too sure we got the best deal there.......WICKHAM? LEE? SAKO? ADEBAYOR? McCARTHY.

Tactical awareness........ok at setting teams out to defend but always seemingly at the expense of scoring goals......never gets the balance right.......relies almost totally on individual brilliance rather than a well planned and thought through plan of action.

The ability to change? During a match???? Not sure he would have supporters suggesting this is a strength.

Player motivation.......seems to believe that giving players freedom is the best form of management

Back room staff........not really his call

Set plays.......still benefitting from the Pulis regime here

Appropriateness of training......I cannot comment as not party to what goes on but the recent run of defeats suggest this is also not a strength

Playing style / ethos.........not really sure I know what this is in relation to Pardews footballing philosophy..........IH wanted to play like Barcelona and TP like Stoke....not quite sure what Pardew believes in
