Sort of a fan of them for their sing along tunes... hearing a few of the songs from Ghost Stories seems OK, will take a few listening though.
Defo stereo typed though.

Anyone know how Sow is doing at FC Honka. I have tried to read up online and he seems to have played a couple of part games and then a full game and then out of the squad for the last one. Injury?
Just wondered if any of our Finnish fans know anything? Also spotted the coach there is no other than S Kuqi. Surely it has to be . . . . .

Rules are as follows
1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.
2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)
3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).
4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.
5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.
6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.
7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.
8 Singles and upwards accepted.
9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.
10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2
11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.
12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.
13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..
14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You cant shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.
15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher
16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)
17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Not a suggestion!
Seems a bit of a strange one to me. I thought he was bought as a long term replacement for the aging Xavi and Iniesta yet he's sold just as it looks like Xavi and Iniesta are in the final stages of their career. His record over there is very good so it's not a case of him not being good enough. Can anyone with a bit more knowledge of Spanish football shed any light on this?

Sorry Dave - another how to download a photo thread
I've downloaded photos a hundred times to thread on here by various means, usually by right clicking the photo and choosing something like copy link etc.
I've also done the same using Flickr for personal photos etc.
It seems this has stopped working for me. Flickr seems to have got all copyright conscience or something, but surely it should allow my own photos to be copied?
Am I missing something, or do I need re-educating on how to do this?
Insert head banging smilie.

World cup songs 2014
Shakira does it again (after her great success in 2010, her waka waka with over 650 million youtube views now..big numbers for a football song that). 2014 edition:
To view the link you have to Register or Login
Just something refreshing with Shakira..and seems like the profit from the song will go towards the UN world food programme..Catchy tune (as football songs go) as well.
Pitbull with the official official world cup song..we are one..rather prefer Shakira again..

Santana also trying his luck with a world cup song..works so so ..

'Palace Hall of Fame'
I don't know if this has been discussed on the Boards before. If so I apologise.
When we eventually have a new Main Stand, shouldn't it incorporate a 'Palace Hall of Fame' ?
If so, what should be the criteria for a player, or manager to gain entrance ?
There are obvious candidates....
Peter Simpson. (1929-35) Still our leading goal scorer, with an outstanding tally of 165 goals in just 195 games.
Johnny Byrne. (1956-62. & 1967-68) England internationally while he was with Palace. And we were in the lower leagues at the time. Imagine that happening today ?
Sold in 1962 for a British record transfer fee of £65,000.
Steve Coppell. Need I say more ???
Jim Cannon. (1972-88.) Record number of appearances. A massive 571.
On a personal note, I would have to nominate Don Rogers. One of my all time favourites.
Although his spell was relatively short at Palace, he was in my opinion one of the classiest and most skillfull players ever to don (excuse the pun..) a Palace shirt. His goals in the 5-0 thrashing of Manure will never fade from my memory.
As I said if this thread has been done before, I apologise.
So, who would you nominate for 'The Palace Hall of Fame'...and why ?

Romantic European winter getaways
Hi y'all,
I was thinking of planning a romantic few days away somewhere in Europe for the wife and I. The only problem is we'll be visiting in early Jan 2015 so likely to be cold. We've done Paris in the winter before but was thinking of somewhere else. Salzberg, Austria randomly came to mind. Can anyone recommend any of Europe's other city's/towns for romantic winter getaways?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Copyright from articles pasted from the web
Know Dave doesn't like this without a source.
Have a work project where I am going to share some educational information, so far, so good. But I wanted to set up a website or blog where you could link to the original articles, with maybe a precis of what the article was about on the blog. Where do I stand on copyright, do I need to let the originator know I am sharing their article (there wouldn't be any comment on the quality of the article or debate on it). I know there are several blogs (even politicised ones) who just link without a second thought, but unfortunately, I have to be whiter than white in my job role.

McAfee Anti Virus Renewal
jeudi 29 mai 2014
I moved away from PC's a few years ago to Mac but I have just noticed on my bank statement that McAfee have renewed my subscription for another year for another £50 odd. But my payment card details changed in November last year, but when I logged into my McAfee account they have my new payment card number. How the f**k did they get the new number it's only the last 2 digits that have changed but I definitely didn't tell?
I have turned off the auto renewal now but I am perplexed how they got the new number. Anyone got any ideas?

Battlefield 3 PC Free On Origin To Download Until 3rd June
Origin's free download this week is the full game of Battlefield 3
It is a 19gb download and it took 20 minutes to download using my fast fibre optic connection.
Their is a massive online community and it is very easy to find a game.
The game looks amazing running on the Ultra Graphic settings if your PC can manage it and there is no lag online.
Easily the best game so far that Origin is giving away in its monthly free game offer.
This free offer is only available until the 3rd June 2014 and you have to open a free Origin gaming account to access the download.
No catches just a great PC game for free.

Suggestion: Ikechi Anya - Watford
Remember this guy when we were in the Championship and saw him again for Scotland last night.
Has always looked like a very decent player. Lots of pace and skill on the ball - loves getting down the line.
Seeing as we have just released both of our left backs, Anya is one I would like to see come in and replace them - even if he is initially brought in as back-up.

A third of britons are racist

I'd imagine the racism debate has been done to death on here, but it seems the recent rise of UKIP has led to people being more open with their views (see the comments section).
Is this an acceptable rejection of over-zealous political correctness or is it a devolution threatening the advancement of the human race?
Personally, I think the following parts are most telling:
"Education had an impact with 19% of those with a degree and 38% of those with no qualifications reporting racial prejudice."
"The survey also found wide variations currently across the country: 16% of people in inner London admitted to prejudice but the figure was 35% in the West Midlands."
So racists are stupid and ignorant, who would have thought it?

Support Tower Hamlets mayor or risk riots, says advisor
My voting evening was tame compared to this:D
"A senior adviser to Lutfur Rahman, the extremist-linked mayor of Tower Hamlets, has said there will be street violence unless people stop questioning the manner of his re-election.
The Electoral Commission is to hold an inquiry into polling in the east London borough after dozens of reports of voter intimidation and a chaotic count that took more than five days to declare a final result."
"Rachael Saunders, a Labour councillor in Tower Hamlets, said: There were huge mobs of people at the polling stations, shouting, intimidating, actually making it quite difficult for people to vote.

Cardiff to storm championship
Cardiff are the bookies favourites to win the Championship and come straight back up to the Premiership. We have already signed Javi Guerra - who scored 15 in La Liga last season..A young Austrian called Guido Burgstaller...Man Utd's Federico Macheda and now Adam Le Fondre and we're still in May!!

Not sure if this should be in transfer thread or here,
Looking at the squad at the moment, what strikers would you say would be in our price range and wage structure? As well as being an improvement on what we have got (Chamakh, Gayle, Murray)

George Howard
I should probably put this in the 'World of Football' forum, but I think more people will see it here.

Travelling the middle east, BBSer advice sought...
Good afternoon all, mods I did have a hunt for a thread of a similar nature but couldn't find anything...
I was looking to travel around Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Israel this year. Either late August until mid Sept, or late Sept to mid Oct.
I note that Lebanon and Egypt have had a few trouble spots recently and was wondering on what any BBSers based around there could tell me about it all. I THINK that Lebanon will be safe in the coastal towns and Beruit.
My brother, who I'll be holidaying with, is in to his architecture and is pretty pissed off with it kicking off in Cairo of late but knows there are plenty of things to see in Jordan and Lebanon. Obviously Syria is a **** no but we are hoping to pick up Petra, the Dead Sea, Red Sea, Jerusalem and the other big draws, possibly returning via Istanbul too.
I am aware that certain countries are funny about having an Israel stamp in a passport and you can you visa stuck on a separate bit of paper to avoid these problems.
Hoping to blag about 3 weeks off work to get a taster tour for this wonderful part of the world.

Buying a new TV. Advice Please !!
We are considering buying a new a TV, done the normal Currys / John Lewis thing and found its a minefield !!
Were looking for the best LCD Flat screen with as many HZ as possible and around 50".
We were told about 4K ? and THX something to do with sound ?
Is it possible to get the above from Sony or Panasonic for under a grand ?
Is it right that Sony and Panasonic are the best ?
Does the price of HDMI leads make a difference ?
Thinking about waiting a little while as Im guessing there will mega sales before the world cup, BTW we watch a bit of football and normal tele stuff, no gaming on this TV.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Many Thanks :)

Quote:
This weekend, a small town celebrated their football club's promotion to Spain's top flight. These celebrations were tempered with a sense of realism and the preparations that come with inevitable disappointment as their promotion may be all but guaranteed because of a simplistic, yet nonsensical financial provision in place. Because of an economic principle, Real Decreto 1251/1999, in place to govern the finances of clubs in Spain's top two levels - formally classified as 'professional football' - SD Eibar could find themselves relegated back to the Segunda Division. What is most frustrating about this is that it would be at no fault of their own. Real Decreto stipulates that every club must have a capital equal to 25 percent of the expenses (average) of all teams in the Segunda Division, with the two sides with the biggest output and the two with the smallest not included. It's a simple means of ensuring the financial viability of Spain's professional sides, but it's also on a scale incomparable to the modest expenditures and means of SD Eibar. At the moment, the club's capital sits just above 422,000 euros. Based on the stipulations of Real Decreto, the club would have to raise that to 2,146,525 euros to meet the standards that other clubs have created with their financial practices. Other clubs, that unlike SD Eibar, are in serious debt, mirroring the country's economic downfall, collapsing industry and abysmal unemployment numbers. Simply put, the club need to raise 1,724,242 euros by the beginning of the next La Liga campaign. In August, club members will be able to buy shares at 50 euros a piece, and shortly thereafter, sales will open to the public. That's a lot of money for a town of 27,000 in a nation crippled by a poor economy. |

Rumour: Liverpool set to bid for Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie
To view the link you have to Register or Login
:( But it is the Daily Star
Quote:
The Reds have made a firm enquiry about the 25-year-old winger after he starred against them in the final week of the season. Bolasie inspired Palace's fightback from 3-0 down to earn a dramatic 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park as Tony Pulis's men delivered a fatal blow to Liverpool's title hopes. Rodgers is a long-term admirer of the £2.5m-rated midfielder going back to the days when he was in charge of Swansea and Bolasie was at Plymouth. He has kept tabs on the Congo international ever since as he has continued to catch the eye during his rise up the divisions to the top flight. |

My car just rolled into a wall
I live on a hill with lots of elderly people, and normally leave the car in 2nd as the handbrake is a bit iffy. Came back from the school run and was sitting indoors when I heard a car alarm going off down the road. Looked out of my window and could see a car parked at a crazy angle against a wall. Was thinking 'stupid old bastards' to myself when I noticed the numberplate :( Ran down to the car and amazingly it only has a few scratches on the bumper, considering how far it rolled. Been rubbing it down and respraying it all morning since. Could have been well worse though.
So if you've got a dodgy handbrake, get it sorted :p

Classified Section
Have recently noticed that over the years I have used the bbs to source an accountant, a plumber and a mechanic. All Palace fans and all with success and a nice discount :)
I was wondering about the idea of having a section/forum purely for Palace fans/bbs members to advertise their business and for those to post looking for a service/product?
Obviously rules would need to be in place to stop blatant 'advertising eg. must be a member for 2 years, at least 200 posts etc.

paul vaessen book
Just read the paul vaessen book, stuck in a moment by Stewart Taylor.
Its honestly the best football biography ive read.
For those that don't know pauls story.
Brought up in Bermondsey, he signed as a schoolboy for arsenal in1977.
And made history at 18 coming off the bench to score a last minute winner against juventus in turin in the 2nd leg of the European cup winners cup semi final.
At the time juventus had never lost a European cup tie at home in there history.
And arsenal were massive underdogs after drawing 1-1 at Highbury.
The next day paul was on the back page of every national news paper and seemed to have the world at his feet.
Within 2 years of that night, he'd suffered a terrible knee injury that all most crippled him and lhad to retire from football.
2 years after retiring hed lost his wife and child and was living on the streets of south east london with a 120 pound a day heroin habit.
Its one of the most moving and powerful books ive ever read.

2 years after retiring hed lost his wife and child and was living on the streets of south east london with a 120 pound a day heroin habit.
Its one of the most moving and powerful books ive ever read.
Ched Evans
Ched Evans the convicted rapist is set to sign a £3M contract with Sheffield United. He's due to be released in October after serving half of his five years inside.
Absolute disgrace in my opinion that clubs employ rapists, murderers and women beaters. Sheffield United hang your heads in shame, that's Evans and King they've had at the club. Nigel Clough has even been visiting him behind inside!
Thankfully that would never happen with 2010 in charge of things, I think it puts a huge emphasis on the appreciation of the owners.
Shocking.

Going to Japan (Tokyo)
I'm off to Tokyo in July, and am just wondering what people recommend to do in the city and surrounding areas?
Bees in the wall at the end of my garden
Seen a lot of bumble bees flying into a small pipe in the wall at the end of my garden. I assume there must be a nest/hive in there. Was thinking of calling the pest control people out to deal with it as don't really fancy getting stung and they're always getting in the house and stuck in the closed windows (stupid flying insect style).
Thing is keep reading we need to start being nice to bees.
Any advice?

Pulis as pundit
It was mentioned yesterday on Radio 5 Live, that TP will be in Brazil as a pundit for the BBC this summer. I didn't catch if they said for radio or TV or both.
So firstly, congratulations to Tony for the chance to give his footballing opinions to a wider audience and to earn some extra money.
Secondly, it shows how high his stock is with the media after the successes of this season.
But thirdly, is this going to affect our activities in the transfer market for the 4 weeks that he is out of the country - or is that what Mr Moody is at the club for?

Has anyone read this?
I feel bad for posting this as I'm posting about the alleged perpetrator of a very recent horrific crime that killed 10 people and I'm somehow I'm not thinking about the horrendous loss of life.
But having spent the best part of my Saturday evening reading 140 pages of a fairly well written but incredibly disturbing manifesto/memoir written by the latest nut-job to go on a mass shooting spree in the States I simply had to say something somewhere (so I picked the BBS instead of talking about it with anyone I actually know in real life).
It's just a bizarre insight into the inner-workings of a guy so out of touch with reality that I don't know how to feel. Obviously there's the horror that he committed such atrocities but reading his words and he was obviously so broken that I cannot help but feel a little sorry for him. He could only see how people had constantly wronged him at every stage of his life. For example on the video he says "You girls have never been attracted to me. I dont know why you girls arent attracted to me, but I will punish you all for it."
Just crazy. And very sad. I hope the victims families are able to get some solace somewhere. The shooting is one thing but reading the manifesto and it's a crime that can become so voyeuristic it will be hard for them to ever move on.

Liverpool experts
Having seen the end of Match of the Day with Hansen, Lawrenson, Murphy and Hamamn (there's probably more who I can't' think of), I thought we'd seen the end of the experts from Liverpool. Forward to the CL final. Quick look on itv and there is Stevie Gerard. Knowing how rubbish itv is at everything, I switch over to Sky. Not wanting to be outdone in the Liverpool Expert Stakes, they have four - Carragher, Redknapp, Souness and Xabi Alonso (though he has just made a quick exit). Roll on the World Cup and let's see how many others they call upon for there expertise.:veryangry:veryangry:veryangry
Crystal Palace Season Review 2013-14
Any word on this seasons review? Is Super Al making it again this year?
There is normally a thread with info by now but I haven't seen anything so far this year. Last year we never got the HD copy many of us were craving. Hopefully we can push the boat out this year.
The players will be on holiday so I guess interviews and things will already by done.
I'd love to see us use Kickstarter or something like that with tiered options. I'm sure a review of this season would be a big seller. It's the interviews and extra that I really love about season reviews though. I'd love to see a really in depth review made rather than just brief highlights.

David Luiz WTF
Bought for £21m - been up and down for Chelsea over his 3.5 years and then selling for £40m. The world of football truly is ****ed.
Hes certainly a talented footballer but I fail to see why he's worth any more than the original fee if that.

Best oppo players at Selhurst
Which opposition players impressed you most this season at Selhurst?
Obviously Yaya was exceptional but for me a few others stood out, in particular Cabaye (why Newcastle sold him I'll never know).
Also, what about surprise performances? I thought Mulumbu for West Brom looked quality.

At about this time we were in Hamilton Hall at Liverpool Street and already on the Jack Daniels
Rumour: Tendai Ndoro
To view the link you have to Register or Login
Mpumalanga Black Aces striker Tendai Ndoro is set to undergo trials with Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Reports from Bulawayo say Ndoro will be at Palace for one week in early June in a move which, if successful, will make him the fourth Zimbabwean after Bruce Grobbelaar, Peter Ndlovu and Benjani Mwaruwari to play in England's topflight.
Ndoros agent, Gibson Mahachi, confirmed his client would be going to England for the trials, adding that there are also a number of other European and South African clubs who have shown an interest in the Warriors forward.
Ndoro joined Aces on a one-year deal, with an option to renew, after finishing as the top goalscorer in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League when playing for Bulawayo side Chicken Inn. He was also selected among the 11 soccer stars of the year.
Ndoro, who signed for AmaZayoni last year, only joined them in January as he could not get his international clearance in time. Nevertheless he impressed, scoring seven goals for AmaZayoni.
The in-demand striker is back in Zimbabwe for the offseason break and is part of the Warriors squad that will play Tanzania in the second leg of the preliminary round of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
qualifiers. Zimbabwe lost the first leg 1-0.
Word has it that Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns are also after Ndoro.
He played for a team called Chicken Inn :)

Suggestion: Nicklas Bendtner released by Arsenal
Just been released from Arsenal, personally would be pleased if Pulis picked him up.
Julian Speroni Released
Not confirmed as of yet, but it's all over social media that the unthinkable has happened. Sad day for Palace in my opinion. Don't think Hennessey is any better, in fact, I know he's not based on previous history.
Pulis has done a fantastic job at Palace, but for one of the greatest Palace keepers, in the form of his life, to leave without much of a fight is a bit of a shocker from an outsider's perspective.

Would you want our rivals promoted to the Premier League
Should Palace stay up for decades?
We want the best for Palace and to cement ourselves as strongly as possible in the top flight. We have bags of potential with catchment area etc etc etc. But, at what point would you want to be playing your rivals again? It means everything in those derby matches, who the hell wants to gamble on the cups? I want to be playing these bastards occasionally at least, and it would give me a ton of pleasure to see them (Gayboys/Thugs/**Clowns) get stuffed into a relegation spot every other season.
One can only laugh at their suffering for so long, the relationship has to be kept alive.
**You can say they aren't but we always get a big crowd and a lot of hatred thrown in their direction even if we deliberately pretend to ignore them to wind them up.

Ideas: Playing at PPL Park before Palace
So, I'm currently studying at University in America. I play for the rugby team here and we have our biggest tournament of the year next weekend. It just happens to be being played at PPL Park, where CPFC will play the Philadelphia Union about a month later.
The question is... what should I do about this information? My initial reaction was to try and hide a scarf in the away changing room, but the chances of this being successful seem small and ultimately, unless I then told someone at the club to go and find it, nobody would ever realise.
So... what can I do (short of criminal damage please)?

When a tube dies....
My home practice amp is a Kustom Tube 12A using a 12AX7 valve.
It now turns on but I get no output, I have tried other leads and another guitar so I'm beginning to suspect that the valve has died. It suddenly happened, not whilst I was playing though, and the amp never gets moved. So, what happens when a valve dies? Does it just die like a light bulb or fade out?
I'm wondering because I'm either going to buy a new valve or it is something else which has popped and it needs to go to the shop for fixing....
Thanks for help and advice

How much......
.....did the club actually receive at the end of this season, and once a definitive figure has been agreed on by you guys how much do you think should be made available to TP for transfers/wages?
Having been reading the John Ruddy thread and seeing a lot of comments about the lack of money available it made me wonder just how much do we have.Ive seen the Prize money breakdown but do we not receive a "parachute payment" on top of this, and if so how much? Bearing in mind the importance of staying up with regard to the mid/long term plans for upgrading Selhurst and improving the Infrastructure,it would be interesting to see who thinks what if we know what the club has to play with give or take.

Does anyone remember the South Korea World Cup scandal 2002?
Just spent the past hour watching various World Cup videos on YouTube where I stumbled across this video, I completely forgot about the controversy of the 2002 World Cup. South Korea, the host nation surged into the semi-finals beating the like of Portugal, Italy and Spain on their way. There were an uncountable amount of awful decisions, off the ball kicks, violence and leniency in their games.
So I'm just asking the question, who thinks/thought it was a genuine cheating scandal or just a conspiracy theory against an achieving underdog nation?
I for one think it was an example of match-fixing and dishonesty within FIFA and South Korea.
Here's the video with dodgy music that reminded me of such accusations.

Fundraising Ideas
jeudi 22 mai 2014
The other day I was told about a fantastic opportunity by my school to go on a trip to Tanzania organised by a global organisation called World Challenge. I am feeling very serious about going on this trip because I feel it would be a great experience.
However, we have to fundraise £3,000. I don't have any real ideas on how to fundraise it, so I thought I would ask the bbs! I would also like to know if anyone has had children or even done it themselves and how they did it!

What Materazzi said to Zidane
I don't know if this has been covered on the BBS before, but I always thought Materazzi said he would never reveal what he said to Zidane. But in this article he's pretty blunt about it:

But the rest of the game was a grind. France were tough, smart and strong. It went into extra-time and we were hanging on. Buffon made a simply outrageous save from a Zidane header. It was one of those moments where both were perfect, the effort and the save. On the next cross I was close enough to Zidane to stop him jumping. I put my arm around him and gave him a little tug, with my body on him. Pretty standard stuff; it happens hundreds of times a game. I quickly apologised, but he kept saying, over and over again, that if I wanted his shirt so badly, I could have it after the game. He wouldn’t stop. So I said that, instead of his shirt, I’d rather have his sister. That was it. That’s all it was. |
Bardsley gone to Stoke
Stoke announce they have signed defender Phil Bardsley on a three-year deal from Sunderland
Bardsley will officially join the Potters on 1 July 2014 following the expiration of his contract.
The defender arrives in the Potteries after six-and-a-half years at Stadium of Light where he made 200 appearances.
Really wasn't expecting this move as Bardsley has been one of Sunderland's better players this season

Telling the family Palace "secrets"
As the football season is over and there is no transfer news about Palace flying about I've become massively bored. Listened to an interview of yours earlier and you said (SB) that you have 4 sons that are all Palace fans so got me wondering... Do you ever tell your boys/family the players Palace/Pulis are after or wages on contracts etc. the sort of stuff you would never tell fans on here or media?
on now.
Sky 192. Alex Harvey. Must find out when its on repeat. Tripped over it flicking about.
SENSATIONAL.
SENSATIONAL.
Suggestion: Jonathan Soriano
havent seen any big clubs that are interested in him but this guy is a goal machine and prob the most prolific striker in europe behind all the big named players. just a thought ?

BBS Betting Masters - World Cup 2014 special
Join in the World Cup 2014 betting fun..
Just like the World Cup weve hopefully got 32 participants and 8 groups. The best 2 from each group goes through to the next round. Only bets on the World Cup is allowed.
Each contestant gets picked (by random) one of the national teams competing in the World cup 2014. And then they have to do 5 bets related to there team (can bet against them and so on). Shouldnt be a problem finding bets as there will be 50+ bets possible to do on any one game in the World cup.
After the league stage the people with most points go through (top 2). They are then up against a person from another group (following the same schedule as the real WC, A1 vs B2 and so on, in the next round).
Number of bets:
Group stages (32 participants): 12-26.June 20 bets (15+5) 48 games to bet on.
2. Stage (16): 28-01.July - 10 bets (8+2) 8 games
3. Stage (8): 04-05.July 10 bets (8+2) 4 games
4. Stage (4): 08-09.July 10 bets (8+2) 2 games
5. Stage (5): 12-13.July 10 bets (8+2) 2 games (final and bronze final..)
(in the last couple of rounds..bets will be pm'd hidden to me (or someone else) before posted..when few matches to bet on.
In addition to the regular bets, one can also do 2 long-term bets.
1. Who do you think will win the WC?
2. Top scorer?
Search for the best odds and put it up (name the bookie), I would recommend using To view the link you have to Register or Login
These bets will only come into play if you are one of the 2 finalists.
Bets have to be placed before the start of the tournament.
*The regular rules..
1. Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.
2. Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 14 days. Maximum bet on a single game is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis.
3. After the group stage the qualifiers all start on 0 points (same for each round).
4. Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission
5. Players must quote where they're getting their prices.
6. Singles and upwards accepted.
7. For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.
8. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2
9. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.
10. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.
11. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..
12. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You cant shop around for the highest odds and put them together.
That was a lot of...if you got any questions, then dont hesitate to ask, either on here or via pms.

Coincidences
Ok, so I'm kayaking with a guy tonight and he tells me he's going to go to England in August to a friends wedding. When I ask him where, he tells me caterham. That's where I grew up!
Also, the last name of the person who is getting married is also the name of a family I knew there. Not sure if it's the same family.
Pretty big coincidence in my opinion. Anyone else had something like that happen?

FIFA WORLD Free PC Game On Origin
Released today was the new PC game Fifa World.
Download it for free on Origin.
The game seems to use the same graphics as the Fifa World Cup game that has recently been released on the Xbox 360 and it can be played by keyboard, mouse or gamepad.
It has many features of Fifa 14 including online seasons and ultimate team.
Most PC's should be able to run this and the download is 2.15gb.
On my fast connection this took 8 minutes to download and it looks amazing when running it on the ultra high graphics setting if your pc can manage it.
Currently playing as Palace and really enjoying it.
If anyone wants to add me on Origin my user name is hdcpfclondon

Confiscate All Profits For A Year
While trying to suppress my tears that M&S profits are down, a thought entered my mind about why profits are so important.
Throughout history man has prospered where people live together, work together and contribute to the local community. These scenarios unfortunately appear to have all collapsed due to the greed of outsiders or within.
So, as long as a company is producing something people need and making enough money to cover operating costs and to pay a decent salary to the employees, why does it even need to make profits? Does every company really need to be bigger and more cost efficient all the time?
I confess I know little about this but wondered what would happen if all UK Companies handed over all their profits for a year to go straight into a fund for central infrastructure like schools, hospitals, and affordable housing.
Gentlemen/Ladies, the floor is yours!

Property - Offering above the asking price
Is this a real thing?
I just saw a property on Rightmove that had an asking price of £210k, but in the property description it said that they've received an offer of £218k. It went on to say that if you want the place, you better get a higher offer submitted to them sharpish.
There were also a couple more properties on there with similar notices.
I just always assumed that people either paid the asking price or made an offer of less than the asking price. Is offering more than the asking price now becoming a normal thing?

New Crystal Palace Academy
mardi 20 mai 2014
Just been reading an article regarding Brighton banging on about their new academy
blah, blah, blah and I got to thinking.
Perhaps we should start to look at the massive opportunity that we have in our own back yard, namely the Crystal Palace NSC.
This run-down facility could easily be upgraded to a state-of-the-art sporting academy offering a sporting-oriented education, with the emphasis on football, for talented kids from the ages of 8 to 18. The model would be pretty much like the BRITS performing arts school, which has been a fantastic success.
Crystal Palace NSC is surrounded by a massive catchment area with 5 or so London Boroughs that could contribute to the funding as well as using our club funding, sponsors and whatever we could get out of the GLC and Central Government.
We could have a steady stream of football starlets all contracted to Palace like Simon Cowell achieves with anyone who appears on X Factor etc. If done correctly it could make the name Crystal Palace synonymous with sporting and football development, which is great for our brand.
Plus we could run rings around FFP regulations, which are only going to get tighter and, from onward selling fees, have a potentially large source of revenue to re-invest in the academy and our club.
Any comments?
