Travelling the middle east, BBSer advice sought...

mardi 27 mai 2014

Good afternoon all, mods I did have a hunt for a thread of a similar nature but couldn't find anything...

I was looking to travel around Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Israel this year. Either late August until mid Sept, or late Sept to mid Oct.

I note that Lebanon and Egypt have had a few trouble spots recently and was wondering on what any BBSers based around there could tell me about it all. I THINK that Lebanon will be safe in the coastal towns and Beruit.

My brother, who I'll be holidaying with, is in to his architecture and is pretty pissed off with it kicking off in Cairo of late but knows there are plenty of things to see in Jordan and Lebanon. Obviously Syria is a **** no but we are hoping to pick up Petra, the Dead Sea, Red Sea, Jerusalem and the other big draws, possibly returning via Istanbul too.

I am aware that certain countries are funny about having an Israel stamp in a passport and you can you visa stuck on a separate bit of paper to avoid these problems.

Hoping to blag about 3 weeks off work to get a taster tour for this wonderful part of the world.
