Oriental cooking tips and recipes.

I am asking in relation to Chinese, Thai, Korean, Malaysian, Vietnamese food rather than extending it to Indian.

The latter I simply take out of a jar and it works well enough for us. I also think it is nigh on impossible to create that authentic, hankered after UK curry house taste in your own kitchen.

While the missus is usually in charge of the kitchen, mainly becasue she is great at cooking, it really fall to me to come up with the more exotic dishes.

Or at least those involving a wok.

While I am in Santiago I would like to stock up on an essential armoury of must have base ingredients, but without getting too picky about it. I am not interested in trying to source some rare leaf that has been shit out by a panda,

It's more about recipes with essential flavoured oils and how to use them and combine them with other flavours. Sesame with Soya etc..

I can get pad thai sauces and we have had some nice food. But if I have rice noodles, some veggies and chicken, how do I put something to gether that can match that if I don't have the ready made sauce to hand.

Thanks..
