206:
207:
208:

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after.

Suggested Team and Formation For: Newcastle (away)

Guaita

Clyne Dann Kouyate PVA

Milivojevic Reidewald

Ayew Eze Zaha

Mateta

Player Ratings And Reviews: Wolves (home)

Guaita 7 a couple of decent saves you’d expect him to make

PVA 7 Pace, dealt with Traore
Dann 6 solid enough
Kouyate 6 fine
Clyne 6 good coming forward, beaten in air is trade off

McCarthy 5 went to ground too much
Milivojevic 6 decent game apart from set pieces.

Zaha 7 came to life second half, unlucky to hit bar
Eze 6 great strike. Poor and negative until then
Ayew 7 did his job well. Held it up and good skills.

Batshuayi 5 some nice touches but missed easy chance

Subs:

Riedewald 8 MOM Felt for him not being trusted to start. Covered PVA, protected the centre backs with Luka. Kept us solid in the middle and decent passing. Our most important player.
Townsend N/A
Ward N/A

Hodgson 8 My man of the match. Or should he be? We set up in a 4-2-3-1 to begin with, which will have send vast swathes of our fans into ecstasy. However, would McArthur have started but for the injury? Anyway, as predicted, without McArthur in the middle (who has a tendency to rush forward out of position to leave us exposed) we had a double shield in front of the defence and rarely looked troubled defensively as a result. So much better, Royball was back. Eze scored the goal with a fierce strike on his left foot (and great movement to get there) but passed backwards and contributed nothing defensively or offensively before then. An extremely talented player, but a passenger for huge chunks. Zaha was poor on the left and didn’t beat the full back once. Looked much better when through the middle, pulling out on the right when Hodgson switched us back to 4-4-2. Pleased to see Jairo come on. Solid and can pass: LM and JR by far our best centre midfield pair. Shame we had to wait until injuries to both JM and JM in late Jan to see it but better late than never. So great to see us in control defensively and not run ragged. Let the quality of Zaha and Eze be the difference. Great win. A step towards survival and then Roy can sail off into the sunset during the summer and the rebuild can begin. COYP.

permanent concussion substitutions trials across the Premier League

"With player welfare the priority, the protocols will allow a maximum of To view the link you have to Register or Login, with the opposition side able to use the equivalent number. The additional concussion substitutions may be made regardless of the number of substitutions a team has made already."

A good idea IMO - health and safety is important.

However, I'd be happier if there was a neutral medical staff member doing the assessments. While I'm quite sure that players with concussions won't be able to continue, I do wonder if sometimes players who aren't concussed may be "sent to the tent" to allow an extra sub, especially by the bigger teams who have longer squads. I think we can all remember the way players were "injured" in rugby games when subs were only allowed for medical reasons.

Kicking on, crossroads time for Palace

I've supported this team actively since 1974, in that time I've seen some highs and many lows. Players and managers and Chairman come and gone, so many false dawns.

We've been in the top flight for a record time now and have never been in a better place to kick on but the last few years have become increasingly underwhelming.

Having waited so long I really want to win something. I'd love to really challenge the top 6.

We need investment to do so. Maybe a change at the head of the club although I admire Parish for what he has done to date.

Those years of yearning are still there and I'm 58 now I want to enjoy and see some success before its too late.

I'd like us to spend big, get some proper quality in and go for broke cos its not really doing it for me at the moment.

If we mess it up and we fail spectacularly, end up in Div 1 with the likes of Ipswich, Portsmouth, Charlton so be it. I'll still be there.

At least we would have given it our best shot, rather than just tred water on a budget, being passed by other clubs and then we eventually drop out anyway.

Car insurance cancelled advice

My car insurance policy has been cancelled from December 2018. Letter says..."

We're sorry we won't be able to continue insuring your car because the changes you've asked for mean you no longer meet our underwriting terms"

They then say they will refund my last 3 years premiums.

What does this mean? Will it affect future insurance - do I have to declare it? I presume I haven't been driving round illegally for 3 years!?

For context they alleged I was fronting for my son, which I disputed, and this was the outcome. The above is apparently all the info I needed.
I tried the insurance ombudspeople but they are busy.

It’s time for a diamond midfield?

mardi 26 janvier 2021

We can’t continue with 2 in centre mid as they are being overrun. Townsend is out of form (if we are being kind). Eze is a No10. We don’t have any wingers in really. McArthur in a 2 is leaving the DM exposed with his constant forays up the pitch. So diamond is the only way to go. We certainly don’t have any wingers good enough to deserve to start. Our top goalscorer Zaha needs to play right up top: we NEED his goals. What are people’s thoughts on this?

—————————Kouyate/Milivojevic————————————
———McArthur—————————————Riedewald—————
———————————-Eze/Ayew—————————————————-

Passing Accuracy

I've no idea where GG and the like get their stats from so they could probably dig something up from somewhere but I went back to basics tonight, having got to the end of my tether in previous games with screaming at the TV each time a pass goes awry or is intercepted.

Now I concentrated this basic stat on when we had the ball in the The Spammers half of the pitch.

These stats do not include bona fide crosses, corners or free kicks.
I simply looked at where the interplay broke down between Palace players.

In the first half we had 6 passes go astray/intercepted.

I don't know what our possession stats was in the first half (certainly in the Spammers half) but I dont think it was great.

Second half I made it 17 passes were picked off or misdirected. (I believe our possession stats second half may have been higher.)

However I even think the co-commentator (female) picked up on it at one point.

We all know it has been bad but to me these stats bring it home.

Essentially we had 23 attacks break down because of sloppy passing in the opponents half.
Even if you were to dispute my tally as being subjective (although I dont see how, a pass either got there or it didn't) or I can't add up, so deduct a third, that still equates to 15 attacks that were lost because we simply cannot pass the ball accurately.

This has been going on all this season and for most of last.

I'm not sure Roy can be blamed for this ineptitude but it has to be questioned, why is our passing so bad ?

Watching Palace on your birthday

Anyone have eventful Palace games on your birthday?
Every year, top of my birthday wish list is to watch Palace wherever they are playing. Maybe in style. And being fortunate that my birthday is mid-season there is sure to be lots of opportunities over the years.
So you would think. My birthday is 26th Jan. Often an FA cup 4th round date. So with our awful third round record lots of chances whizz past with an empty fixture.
There have been a few near misses. Spurs in FA Cup a coupe of years ago got moved to 27th. Newcastle away in admin season also got moved to 27th.

I am talking 40 odd years now with the only one I recall is Liverpool home about 20 years ago.
I also think we had a friendly home to West Ham mid eighties as both had been knocked out of cup. Anyone know about that?

This year we finally have a game on my birthday - a London Derby at home too.

NO FANS!

Pension Bee

Anyone used this? I don't have anything particularly sizeable pensions but i have small amounts here and there from the companies i've worked for over the years.

I like the idea of transferring all of these into a single pot so i can better track what i have where, rather than relying on keeping paper records of the different pension accounts. Under my current workplace pension with Aviva, if i transfer this to Pension Bee, does my employer continue paying their contribution to pension bee or do i lose it?

Or, do i just transfer the total amount and continue receiving payments from the employer to the Aviva pension?

Rumour: Demarai Gray

samedi 23 janvier 2021

Crystal Palace are in the race for Leicester’s out-of-favour winger Demarai Gray.

The Eagles will swoop for Gray as a replacement for Andros Townsend if he leaves this month — or at the end of his deal in the summer.

Gray seems sure to seek a fresh start after Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers sidelined him.

He has only played one Premier League game in a season that has seen Leicester storm into third, two points off the top.

Roy Hodgson’s Eagles are looking to sign a handful of players, as many of his squad are set to leave this summer.

Gray, 24, would have a better chance of playing with them as they reshape their group.

Leicester’s wide man has other interest at home and abroad but Palace are emerging as serious contenders.

Christian Benteke, 30, may be the next to leave Selhurst Park after the arrival of Jean-Philippe Mateta from Mainz.

The 6ft 3in Belgian striker Benteke is hoping to be released and given a pay off to explore possibilities AFTER the window shuts as a free agent.

He is in his fifth season as a Palace player and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Benteke has managed just three goals in 13 league appearances this term - including a brace in last month's 5-1 thrashing of West Brom.

Palace training video

Just watched this session can’t believe how much it differs from our match play passes we’re played quickly and forward crosses put into the box runs off the ball can’t understand why we don’t translate our training sessions into our matches.
I get that the pressure isn’t the same but to do this in training then play the way we do is quite a shock

Drinking At Home

I’ve bitten the bullet and purchased on of these home beer tap machines.

Couple of things I am wondering from all the experienced drinkers on here;

How much does the glass matter? I am currently drinking Heineken from an exceptionally old Stella chalice pint glass, and it’s not as carbonated as I’d like it. Seems to flat fairly quickly. Could the glass being very old and used a million times in the pub be the issue? Should I order some new glasses?

The actual machine is a sub compact made by Krups and I’m impressed so far, although mastering pouring a decent pint without wasting too much beer is proving hard work, especially when the average price is around £3 a pint!

I only drink mainstream lager so my choice is limited to some extent, but any suggestions from people that have the same machine on which lager pours and tastes best would be good!

Rumour: Benteke to WBA

No one spotted this? (BBC reporting story in Mail)

Sleep Apnea

vendredi 22 janvier 2021

Have not seen a thread on this subject but just had all the tests and turns out I am really up there in the high point scoring with 69 events per hour with sleep apnea.

So tonight I will be putting the star wars mask on for the first time ,my wife is already bored with me breathing heavy and saying "luke I am your father" saying you are 62 years old and you find that funny:rolleyes ?

Yeah...

Just one thing being serous here the doctor said my machine sends her all the stats/info, if you knock one out with the mask on can that can that be defined or detected?

Hopefully this is a good thing (not the above^) and I will get used it and from what I'm told its a game changer, anyone else use one of these machines ?

Prince - A Video Retrospective

jeudi 21 janvier 2021

First thing's first, there's absolutely no way I'm chronologically wading my way through this guy's back catalogue, so this is an arbitrary wander through some of my favourite moments in the little man's career. I don't want to hear any bitching.

First up, 'U Got the Look'

Song 5/5
Video 5/5

Perhaps the most commercial single from his Sign of the Times album, this song features a sharp little vocal from Scotland's finest, Ms Sheena Easton. Lyrically, it's pretty much an ode to Cinatra's of Croydon, whereupon Prince spies a rare seductive siren amongst a sea of munters at closing time. Even the harsh lights they shine in your face to make you down the twenty half consumed pints you've accidentally amassed during the course of the evening due to constant interruptions by 'Come on Eileen' and 'I Found Lovin' fail to diminish her beauty. Musically, it's got funky guitars, a thumping drum beat and an eerie, echoey sound. Throw in some jacked up helium vocals, and we're good to go. Smashing.

The video is set up as a dream sequence in Paris. After ironing his underpants, the drudgery of domestic chores causes Prince to doze off momentarily and we enter a dream sequence. Not surprisingly, this seems to encompass a number of scantily clad people of both sexes, some human wheelbarrowing, and Sheena's knockers bouncing in and out of a bra top. Prince's drummer, the great Sheila E, kicks off festivities dressed as a kinky cowgirl wearing a spray on white ensemble leaving little to the imagination. Never has a woman simultaneously handled two sticks with such consummate ease and panache. She leads out Prince's team of musical superheroes, including the similarly alluringly attired Cat Glover.

Prince himself of course is dressed in half a dead ostrich, skin tight trousers with holes cut in the hips, and heels. He has the last laugh though, because he was probably banging your girlfriend at the time, plus stealing her eye makeup.

There's some fun choreography, Sheila humping the shit out of her drums as usual, and Prince looking rightly smug when Sheena tells him that his face is jamming. Sheena herself is looking good, but despite her attempts to look edgy, she does somewhat look like she's a paralegal from local law firm who was slipped some rohypnol by an androgynous biker gang during an after work drinks party.

The video concludes amidst a screeching guitar solo refrain with a prince being dragged away by Cat in a semi consensual male rape scene. It breaks off at the end to Prince 'waking up' from the 'dream scene'. In reality, we all know it wasn't a dream, but more a factual retelling of a standard day in the great man's life. His wry smile at the end tells you all you need to know - he doesn't even have to say the words "yes, of course I banged every bitch on that stage".

Here we are, folks - the dream we all dream of....

Family Solicitor - Purley (recommendations)

I wondered if anyone could recommend a local family solicitor (close to Purley) to get some advice relating to child support and how care should be managed between the parents. The couple separated a few months ago, but his ex-girlfriend has become obstructive in relation to how time with their children is managed. On the whole, they get on well but she's failing to grasp the fact she's meant to take the children in the morning so he can work (basically they top/tail their work schedules).

At this stage it’s looking at options going forward, before things escalate and he's primarily looking for some advice, and would welcome any recommendations for family solicitors local to the Croydon/Purley area. I hasten to add the father has been extremely flexible and patient wherever possible and has turned down work to accommodate his sons even he was scheduled to work.

Rumour: Jean-Philippe Mateta

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Crystal Palace are considering a move for Mainz 05 striker Jean-Philippe Mateta to reinforce Roy Hodgson’s faltering attack.

Christian Benteke has scored just three goals in 13 Premier League appearances this season, while Michy Batshuayi’s loan from Chelsea has proven ineffectual, with the striker yet to register a single goal for the Eagles.

Palace have been assessing potential options and Mateta, who has scored 10 goals in 17 games in all competitions for relegation-threatened Mainz, is understood to be high on the club’s list of options.

The 23-year-old, who represented France at youth level, joined the German side from Lyon in 2018 and currently has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.

Mainz have not ruled out selling Mateta this month, but the club would demand a sizeable fee to let go of their prize asset.

“A forward who is fit again and has the perfect age is in demand despite the virus,” Mainz’s sporting director, Rouven Schroder, recently told Bild.

“[If an outrageous offer comes in] we would then need to sit down and discuss it. We rejected something last winter and in summer, too.”

What team should Roy have picked for Man city away?

Roy picks the team but what was the point of last night, we know it doesn't work to defend for the whole 90 minutes. :frown:

We still had enough quality in our ranks to attack the game, moving Eze into the center would educate us more for the future and PVA on the wing to give a Schlupp like counter attack threat..

Ethical supermarket shopping

I just saw some data on supermarket prices and how Lidl was the cheapest and Waitrose the most expensive and they brought up free range eggs at £1.27 vrs £2.47
Now I happen to know, as my son did some certification work for MAFF, that although both are claimed free range the environments are worlds apart. The density is double and the access to the outside requires a trek over all your crammed in mates to the one door with a scratch yard.
So my point is are we simply encouraging a race to the bottom whilst chasing price?

Podcast featuring rave host and ex-Palace hooligan, MC Flux

samedi 16 janvier 2021

Hi all, how are you doing? Well done on securing what looks likely to be another year in the PL!

I thought you might be interested in a podcast interview with rave host and former Palace hooligan, MC Flux, where he talks about growing up in South London supporting Palace, fighting in their name, and all about the darker side of the '90s rave scene.

As I am new to the page, I'm apparently not allowed to post links (which is frustrating) so head to YouTube and search for 'ROAR: The '90s Rave Podcast' and 'Flux'.

Enjoy!

Matches are coming thick and fast.

After last night's solid draw at the Gooners, we travel oop north to Manchester. Our first trip to that city this season was to Old Trafford for an excellent 3-1 win.

Please predict the score and scorers.

Which Palace story would make a good film?

In the vain of ‘The Damned United’, which Palace events/era would make for a decent football drama?

If I had to make one, two come to mind:

Coppell 84 - 93: would be an inspiring and drama packed movie. Would centre on the young Coppell and Noades unlikely relationship, building the club from such a low base, alongside the Wright and Bright story - both coming from very difficult childhoods and making something out of nothing.

Would explore the tough start when the young players clashed with the older lot ending with the unbelievable juxtaposition of the Liverpool 0-9 and semi final triumph/Cup Final.

The Big Mal years: Kind of writes itself. Would make a great 70’s retro film with classic soundtrack - Bowie/T-Rex etc. The Fiona Richmond scenes would be worth it alone.

Ward--------------Tomkins------------Kouyate----------------Mitchell
Townsend----McArthur-----Milivojevic--------PVA-------------Eze
--------------------------------Zaha--------------------------------------

Last time we won at Man City I remember Zaha played up front on his own. Obviously not ideal, but we need 5 in midfield for this one. I'd bring in PVA and try him left side centre mid - has pace, a left foot and could potentially win ball and bring us forward. If not PVA then McCarthy or Riedewald. Hopefully Eze can carry us up the pitch. Zaha needs to take them on in this one.

Birthday programme search

jeudi 14 janvier 2021

Hi all,

My brothers 30th birthday is coming up and I thought it would be a nice idea to get him the programme's from either side of his birthday (there was no game on the day of it).

After a quick search on Ebay, it appears I may be in for a tough search. The games were a 1-0 away win to Nottingham Forest (goal scored by Eric Young) on February 2 and a 0-0 draw at home to QPR.

If anyone could point me in the direction of programme websites, programme collectors or thinks they may own a copy that they wouldn't mind selling then please do get in touch.

Happy to pay slightly above average, but not too much. :)

Player Ratings And Reviews: Arsenal 0-0 Palace

Good point, we had the better chances and we’re unlucky not to be leaving with 3 points. Thought everyone played well, Luka, James Tomkins and Christian in particular, we looked less likely to score once Big Ben came off. Xhaka played really well for them, this Arsenal team is the weakest they’ve had since pre-Wenger IMO

Press Conference Live: Pre-Arsenal Wednesday 1:30pm

Summary from club Twitter feed...

Roy: Sakho is still being looked at to see how bad the injury is. Schlupp is still out. The long-term absentees are still out. Cahill is fit to play.

Roy: The resurgence, the way they're playing, they have a lot of dangerous attacking players and are defending very well, it's a tough time to play them. They're still one of the top teams in the country.

Roy: To have 22 points at this stage is somewhat comforting but we have to build on that and look to get points away at Arsenal and Manchester City which we know is a challenge.

Roy: We can hopefully trust our own play and our quality of players to make certain we can give both of these teams a very good game.

That's it from Roy! The press conference will be available in full on To view the link you have to Register or Login later today.

Employment advice- return of a (previously) mean boss

Hello all, I wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation or can offer advice. I work in publishing advertising sales and have done so for about 15 years. About 12 years ago I worked at a company where the policy was very corporate. I had a boss for while who I complained about to HR and then in revenge disciplinary action against me, to cut long story short this resulted in not only a year of much misery for me in the workplace, but also bonuses I had worked hard to earn being stopped many times(to the tune of a few £000s). Any way I left that company 10 years ago and now the old boss I had the grievance with has just been hired at my company now and in the role where she is my boss again! I appreciate it was a long time ago and I am much better in my role now and feel much safer now as I am quite highly thought of in my company plus we will both be in a much better less 'toxic' environment but it is still a bit concerning. Any advice?

Palace v Mamelodi Sundowns 1986/7?

mardi 12 janvier 2021

I've had a request from a guy working in the South African film industry who's doing a documentary on one of their top teams, Mamelodi Sundowns.

He's asked about a friendly that the Sundowns are supposed to have played against Palace when the Sundowns owner paid for all the team and their girlfriends to come to London to watch the F.A. Cup Final in either 1986 or 1987.

There is nothing showing in newspaper archives of the time and nothing recorded in Ian King's list of official friendlies in either year; but their was a UN block on sporting links with South Africa at the time so it would probably not have been an official game.

Dos anyone have any knowledge or recollection of this game? The guy is particularly interested in who played for the Sundowns.

Any info or recollections would be helpful

Thanks

Sky Go Help

After cancelling my Sky I am now having to watch live sport through an in-laws Sky Go through my Xbox One.

The picture quality is poor, even though my TV is 4K, HDMI cable etc. It seems to lag/stutter every few seconds and is extremely annoying, to the point where I’m actually considering getting Sky reinstated! :D

Has anyone experienced this? And if so is there a fix?

Having a little look on google and it does seem to be an issue when watching sport.

Cheers all.

Greatest individual performances in a Palace shirt

Bobby Kellard RIP

I have heard the sad news this morning that popular former Palace player Bobby Kellard has passed away.

2 spells at Palace, 1963-65 winning promotion from Division three under Dick Graham and back at Palace between 1971-72 in the 1st Division when he was captain and very much led the team.

Bobby was incredibly popular with Palace fans when he returned to some supporter evenings just over a decade ago, and had many entertaining stories to share of his time at the club.

RIP a Palace hero.

Mortgage settlement

Just a sense check of what others may think is the best course of action

Currently have c £65k outstanding on our mortgage

We are in the fortunate position where we can clear it immediately, however this will attract a penalty of c £3.2k at this time

We could continue monthly payments until August 2022 and then clear, avoiding the charges

However this would cost about 2k in interest

So paying it off now probably costs us about £1200 more overall

I think we would prefer to settle and clear the mortgage now, despite the potential it costs a little more

Just creates a good feeling (I imagine?)

Any strong thoughts one way or the other?

Maybe relevant but we would like to move within the next 12 months, if possible, so having no mortgage to redeem would also make this process slightly easier?

Player Ratings And Reviews: Wolves v Palace (FA Cup) 08/01/21

vendredi 8 janvier 2021

Ok I'll start.... (can someone add a Poll thingy)

Buckland – 7 I was quite impressed. Looked confident and some good kicking and passing. Looked more assured than Vincente

Clyne - 6 Really no more than a Championship player these days. Able & steady that’s about it.

Tomkins -7 – did no wrong ..cannot fault his performance

Sakho - 6 – would have got more possibly if he’d appeared for the second half. Did nothing wrong first half.

PVA – 5 – Not his finest hour. Even when pushed forward, failed to make an impact.

Ayew – 6 better than recent sub appearances. Still holds onto the ball too long. Always looks for the foul. But no cutting edge.

Jairo – 5 Disappointing – again. He made no claim to be starting games.

Eze – 6 Drifts past players well enough, but sometimes too casual and gives the ball away. Worked hard.

James McCarthy – 6 Been out for so long, understandably rusty. But put himself about a bit.

Benteke – 4 I’d forgotten he was playing…I try to be supportive and claim he didn’t get the service…which he didn’t tonight…but..when he did get possession lost it immediately and passing was awful.

Bats – 4 as above. No impact, one offside = no change there then.

Subs - FWIW – 5.

I’d love to know our stats re passing back v. forward passes. ? !

Very disappointing and two hours of my life I won’t get back.

On paper with what, 9 Internationals ? you would have said that was a fair team to put out.

Suggestion: Siriki Dembele

We should perhaps be looking at a young talent like Dembele....Suggestions are that £2m plus would get the deal done. Don't like dealing with Peterborough much as they oveprice their players but this seems a decent value prospect to me.

Summary from club Twitter feed...

Roy: We can't put a time frame on Schlupp's absence but he will be missing for a number of games.

Roy: Other than Jeff, we are doing quite well on the injury front. Cahill is recovering well but tomorrow may be one game too soon.

Roy: Jeff is such a good player in that wide midfield position. He gives us so much going forward but he works hard too. You get all of the benefits of a technical player without losing the defensive element.

Roy: I have no doubt that whatever squad I pick tomorrow will be raring to go and ready to prove themselves if they aren't currently in the starting squad.

Roy: I have not lost any faith in Michy. He's been perhaps unfortunate that Christian has come back so well and that we've decided to play Wilf up front this season. I am sure that, come the end of the season, he will have played a major part.

That's it from Roy! The press conference will be available in full on To view the link you have to Register or Login later today.

Rumour: Cenk tosun (returns)?

Probably a load of B.S but I kind of want this to happen because he didn’t get his chance last time due to injury and it will annoy a lot of pro Roy fans ......

Selhurst park 3D construction toy

I got one for Christmas.... after Santa bought the player construction box last year and I found even that more fiddly than it should have been.

So should I spend time building it or will it drive me up the wall and re-gifting it a the option?

Rumour: Max Meyer 2021

Quote:

Ronan Murphy
@swearimnotpaul

Köln are looking at bringing Crystal Palace’s Max Meyer back to the Bundesliga, according to the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.
Unclear if this is meant to be this coming window or the summer given apparently his contract already ends then, likely not looking at alot if anything on the fee side

Still think we wasted him but now with Eze here I really cant see a place for him so I hope he goes and finds somewhere to actually crack on

Help - Clutch problem advice

I currently have a problem with my clutch, where the clutch pedal sometimes goes to the floor and stays there, and I cannot change gear. This problem has suddenly appeared so had no prior build up or concerns re changing gear or engaging properly. Brake fluid level not at the top when I looked but sufficiently high, as I could tell, to provide the fluid for the clutch mechanism.

I had a garage come out and look and said there was a leak and that I needed to replace the clutch. They have quoted circa £850 to fit a new one. In talking to them they then said that it may simply be the clutch slave cylinder and therefore a far cheaper repair (circa £450). They have inspired me with no confidence in them whatsoever, but I am a total ignoramus re cars, so anyone able to diagnose what it sounds like and what needs to be done?

The car is drivable, though particularly an issue at junctions if the clutch pedal sticks to the floor.

The car is a Mercedes A150.

Executive pay

On an hourly basis the bosses of FTSE 100 companies will have earned more by 5.30pm on Wednesday 6 January than the average worker will pick up across the whole of 2021.

I’m not sure even our most ardent Tory’s can defend this can they?

Take this bloke from Ocado for example. How have we as a society allowed this to happen?

Suffrage the little children?

I was listening to the "Talking Politics" podcast yesterday, every now and then they do a theme monologue in which the presenter and politics boffin David Runciman takes a Long View at political problems, gets the telescope out instead of the microscope. This week, he had a crack at a macro view of the tinkering you could do to make democratic govt better responsive to the needs of citizens. To view the link you have to Register or Login

He posits that, if you wanted to make one big change, the most interesting one would be to extend suffrage downwards in age (to six year olds, in fact!). Election results are slanting towards what old people want, and it's inefficient, as elections determine the future, not the past - they are serving a vanishingly small number of remaining-human-years and not delivering what the people who are actually going to be around want. I reckon with fixed term Parliaments, it's pretty easy to argue that the vote should be given to anyone who's going to be eighteeen within the next five years. I wonder if you could also weight votes so that votes were worth less according to how far the voter is from average mortality age.

Wonder what the BBS thinks? - here's a poll to help us decide.

Millions of flats can’t sell - HOUSING CRISIS

Thought I would try a Daily Express headline.

But it is a serious issue and one I’m in the middle of trying to sell.

Basically since Grenfell to sell flats with cladding lenders require an ews1 form do say they are safe. This was originally meant for blocks over 18m and with cladding. It’s now applied to basically any block of any size and even with no cladding. RICS surveyors are increasingly just ticking the box to say one is needed to cover themselves whatever the circumstances. The government in November tried to clarify when its needed but have managed to make the situation worse by highlighting the issue and making surveyors even more cautious.

Without an ews1 your flat is basically worthless if lenders want one.

There are very few specialist surveyors who can do the surveys so people are having to wait two years or more in some cases. And in many cases freeholders are just refusing to allow it to be done and you legally have no right to make them. Even if one is done, if work is needed it will then cost leaseholders tens of thousands of pounds and huge time scales.

To cut it short it basically means millions of people now can’t sell their flats. It’s still a total lottery whether a mortgage provider will ask for one in many cases but as said increasingly surveyors will.

Rumour: Ozan Tufan (again)

Fenerbahce reporter on twitter with 267k followers:

“Crystal Palace is preparing to give the most serious offer for Ozan. Ozan and his manager met yesterday. His manager also explained the details of the offer to Ozan. The English club will make an offer close to 10 million Euros. The status of the transfer will become clear soon”.

They have seemingly agreed a deal with Mesut Ozil so may need to offload some wages and raise funds. Wonder if this is the window we finally get it done

Living in Hastings/St Leonards - What's it like?

I seem to remember there being a few BBS'ers who live down that way.

My wife and I are tentatively looking at moving down to Hastings/St Leonards from Leytonstone, with our 7 month old son. I was wondering if anyone might be able to give an insight into what life is like down on the coast. We spent a bit of time down there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it but I know that a sunny, boozy weekend in June is very different to living somewhere permanently!

I have read so many conflicting opinions on whats its like. Any advice/thoughts on good areas and areas to avoid would be appreciated.

Cheers :p

BM CLC27 will go from January 2021 to May 2021.

15 bets pr match (2 weeks pr match).

Two matches against each-other. Home/away rule; Away teams bets have to finish before midnight (UK time) on Saturday evening.

Minimum odds limit 1.2.

We are mainly using BM rules, that means for example that;

Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

In-play betting is not allowed. With exception for events that goes over several days; For example after 2nd round of a golf tournament has been completed or before play starts on the final day of test cricket.

The contestants will be seeded for the group draw (based on overall performances in BM competitions).

For a bet to be valid, it must be placed before the published start time.

Remember fair play. Duplicating you’re opponents bets are not allowed.

The bets must be possible to do in real life.

Rumour: Jason Knight

dimanche 3 janvier 2021

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Crystal Palace and West Ham have joined the race for rising Ireland star Jason Knight.

The midfielder, 19, is at the centre of a three-way Premier League tug of war this January transfer window.

Burnley have already expressed an interest in the Derby County star who made his senior international debut in October.

But Mirror Sport has learned that the Hammers and Eagles are serious about landing the highly rated Dubliner.

David Moyes and Roy Hodgson both have the former Cabinteely ace towards the top of their respective shopping lists this month.

And that would spark a bidding war as Knight is contracted to Derby until the summer of 2023 having signed a fresh deal this time last year.

Deleting chrome home page browser apps

Ok this is driving me crazy hopefully someone can help. When you click the 9 dots on the top right of the chrome browser you get a list of apps my account gmail calendar etc. There are a number in the first block that I have no use for and never will. My business, Duo, news and shopping, but others such as sheets and docs that i want at the top. For the life of me I cant seem to either delete or move these buggers. I have searched and got the chrome://apps link but they are not there. They seem to be hard wired in. Can anyone help please?

Bindippers Transfer Skills

Whatever you think of Klipetty Klopp - most of their recent transfers have been stellar. Some recent examples (purchases and sales).

Solanke -In Free. Out £19m
Brewster - Academy. Out £23m and buyback clause!
Coutinho -In £10m. Out £130m.
Benteke - In £20m. Out £28m (to us)
Sakho - In £18m. Out £26m (to us)
Kent - Academy. Out £6.5m plus addons.
Ings - In £7.5m Out £19.8m.
Ward (Gk) - Academy. Out £12.5m.

Their profits (and historic football legacy) enable them to buy quality - and not always expensive - Gomez £10m, Robertson £7.5m, Matip and Milner Free.

So beating them soon would make me smile COYP!

Suggested Team and Formation For: Wolves in the cup

samedi 2 janvier 2021

Butland
Clyne Kelly? Sakho* PVA*
McCarthy* Rieldweld
Banks Meyer* Ayew

*Unless they are avoiding being cup tied to get sold.

Not sure if it is 7 or 9 subs and whether you can pick 3 or 5 from them?

Bench: Henderson, Eze, Benteke, Dann, Ward, Kouyate, Pierick (Luka, Mitchell if 9 subs)

Rumour: Ozan Kabak

From To view the link you have to Register or Login

Crystal Palace join Manchester United, Leicester City and RB Leipzig in tussle for Schalke's £25m-rated centre back Ozan Kabak - with Roy Hodgson looking to offload defensive duo James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho

Crystal Palace have joined the clubs to have enquired about Schalke defender Ozan Kabak.

Manchester United, Leicester City and RB Leipzig are all monitoring developments with the Turk, who is available for around £25million.

Palace are looking to offload centre halves James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho who are coming towards the end of their contracts and are evaluating targets across Europe.

Palace also have Scott Dann, now 33, and Gary Cahill at 35 and want to reduce the average age of their playing squad.

The Eagles have only kept one clean sheet this season - the fewest in the Premier League - on the opening day against Southampton.

Kabak, 20, has attracted attention from Liverpool also but they are concentrating on other options.

The seven-cap international has played eight games this season for the Bundesliga's bottom side Schalke.

Kabak won a Turkish league title with Galatasaray in 2017-18 and was awarded Bundesliga Rookie of the Season in his first year in Germany the following campaign.

Cardo Mania

Poor lad had asked them to stop but Cardo's Iraqi fans are good value on the CPFC Facebook page.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Sheff Utd (H) 2-0 ratings

After all the worry and expectancy of a home defeat against the bottom winless club, it was probably the easiest matches we’ve had in the PL.

Based on today’s viewing, SU are surely toast in the PL.

A few thoughts

Roy got slated before but probably got it right with a clean sheet too although we weren’t as threatening at the other end as we could have been. He clearly set out like in previous seasons to keep it tight at the back.

Defensively sound and rarely looked threatened. Vicente the easiest game he’ll ever have.

Lovely first made goal and such a shame of Jeff he then got injured.

They said on the commentary that Benteke’s injury was a dead leg. Hopefully not too long as we’re always a better looking team with him up top.

Macca was great

Eze class goal.

You thoughts if you please?

Absolutely no chance we win today.

(I'd love to be wrong) can't see nothing but a win for the blades.

Croydon Wednesday League

Anyone remember playing in this league?

I played for a couple of seasons with Redhill Tech and found some of the opposition thought they could just kick us off the park as we were so young and hairy! We must have been pretty successful as we went to an awards evening in the supporters club at CPFC one year. Do remember a bad journey home on the bus after too many Pernods(?!!) though.

Do recall playing Stockwell Postal who were particularly rough and maybe Croydon Postal too. We are talking about early to mid 70's!!
