El Clasico

jeudi 31 mars 2016

Massive game this weekend. "The Classic."

One team, flying high. Spearheaded by an attacking triumvirate, whose playmaker possesses extreme talent and has been magical with a football this season. Pulling the strings in midfield, a local lad, raised from the famed academy.

The other team, underperforming. Featuring a grumpy, talismanic striker, out of form, who many say is self-centred, doesn't play for the team and is past his best. A club who unceremoniously dumped their long serving keeper, a club legend, at the start of the season.

Anyway, enough of Payet, Noble, Adebayor and Speroni. Apparently there is some sort of game on in Spain too.

(Fingers crossed for a Palace-Barca double victory).

doctors of the BBS

This is an appeal on behalf of a very good friend and his wife, bit of advice really, she has been complaining of ill health and pain for a couple of years, she has been in and out of her GP and A&E countless times and they must be sick of seeing her almost on a weekly basis she is in her mid 30's. First of all she read somewhere that she thought she had a problem with her pancreas, blood tests and a £1000 bill for a private endoscope at St Anthony's revealed nothing , then she felt there could be other problems with her internal organs so he paid for her to go back home (South Asia) and have a full medical check up in one of the best hospitals in her capital, she paid for an MRI/CAT scan as well, again doctors found nothing , she came back to the UK and demanded another MRI scan which her GP granted her which again revealed nothing, she has had numerous blood tests nothing whatsoever has been found, she has been tested for Crohns/Parkinsons and MS and still all negative, she has had her womb tested as well its is really starting to get him down, only a couple of years ago she was the life and sole of any party now she cant even sleep in the same bad as him, she complains of pains all over her body on a daily basis, she has even tried medical cannabis, new age remedies! what I am thinking is that she possibly needs psychotherapy and another issue is can the human body produce so much pain yet not display any symptoms at all? I really wonder?

Leaving the EU - Will It Affect Us?

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Had never really thought of how the EU Referendum could affect football until now.

This article claims that 332 players in the top 2 tiers of English football could lose their rights to play in England, should we leave the EU (no work permits). It mentions players like Payet and Kante being affected, but would any of ours be included in the 332? Surely Cabaye would be fine?

Travel Information FA Cup Semi Final Coach Tickets

Hi Steve B or anyone that knows,

Q1) Any idea when coach tickets will go on sale for the FA Cup Semi please?

Q2) Can we use our Coach Voucher we had with our season ticket?

Q3) Can we use either the Sainsbury's or Palace Car Parks on the day too?

Kind Regards Stuart

FA Cup Final question

mercredi 30 mars 2016

Jumping the gun a bit here however, I have a holiday booked back to the UK leaving Auckland on June 3rd. If (big if) we get to the final, I will be looking at changing my flight dates so I can attend the match. I am currently a member with around 800 points so am pretty much guaranteed a ticket today for the semi. Can anyone confirm that the points per phase will remain the same for the final should we get there? Would like to know before I pay the extortionate price to change flight dates.

Apologies if a similar question has been asked previously.

Cheers.

Turntables

I have a large Vinyl collection from 60/70 and 80's.
Not had a turntable for 20 odd years since CD's became the fashion, but fancy going back to them in my twilight years.
Have a lot of blues LP's, Johnny Mayall and the like, and would like to spin them again.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Budget £ 300 tops
Thanks all

Credit Reports - Advice

Evening all.

I am in the process of buying a house, and what with that comes all the credit searches etc, how ever the issue I am having is that companies seem to keep checking my score, thus lowering it over all.

It's companies such as insurance for cars etc, I have absolutely no need for these companies to carry out searches and worry that it will have quite a dramatic affect.

Is there a way I can stop this from happening, I only need the bank in question to check it rather than all these poxy companies.

TIA.

Upton Park Memories

So Saturday will be the last ever Palace match at Upton Park or Boleyn Ground or whatever the hell you want to call it. In 16 previous competitive matches we've won just 3 of them but both of the last 2.

Any memories, good or bad?

Jedinak's penalty guaranteeing Premiership survival 2 years ago or the lights going out in 1997 when the Asian betting syndicate pulled the plug after Frank Lampard's equalizer. Mine are mostly bad; that FA Cup replay in 1984 was one of the few times that I've genuinely feared for my physical safety at a match.

Gary Neville Sacked

Official

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Valencia will continue to be known as "Gary Neville's Valencia" though.

Suggestion: Joe Allen

with him hardly featuring this year and klopp likely to bring new his own signing in...if we stay up Would Allen be worth a punt? Tidy little player, creative and would fit in nicely with Cabaye and MacArthur?

Dog Attack - Question...

Afternoon All.

Need a bit of advice.

When walking the dog (Ayla) in South Croydon earlier, she got attacked by another dog, which the lady who owns, says is a “Wolf Dog”.
The lady dropped the lead and it just went for Ayla, sinking her teeth into her thigh.
Ayla is half husky, so can look after herself thankfully.

She eventually managed to get her dog away. No apology or anything.

Ayla seemed ok at the time but wouldn’t let me touch the back of her thigh. However, my wife checked on the dog and there was quite a lot of blood and now she won’t let my wife near her.
She’s now going to the vet to have it looked at (which is going to be traumatic for all involved!).

I see the lady a lot, and don’t want to cause that much aggro. However, I don’t think is the first time her dog has gone for another dog.
My missus says I should speak to her and tell her muzzle her dog, and if it happens again I’ll go to the police.
Colleague at work says call the police and report it.
I want to call the police, just to make them aware in case it happens again but not take it any further right now, and then I’ll tell her to muzzle her dog.

If I was to report it, would the police take it seriously?

What would the good dog owners of the BBS do in this situation?

Windows Media player on 10 Malware

samedi 26 mars 2016

Odd one here,

My wife's laptop has been upgraded to win 10 and yesterday I opened the media player and on most of the album artwork icons a face of some Spanish looking guy has been superimposed over the album artwork faces.

Looks quite amusing at first but something dodgy is obviously going on.

I've done a few google searches but can't find anything but then again it's a hard one to put into words for a search engine.

Wanted: Kitten / Young cat

My brothers and I are looking to get our mum a new cat for her birthday which is on Monday. Late notice but we've been searching on Gumtree etc with very little luck (not to mention some rude people - why advertise and then be rude and abrupt when somebody contacts you to enquire??).

Does anybody know anyone that's looking to sell? Ideally in the Surrey / Sussex area.

Thanks in advance.

Kids Posters

Looking for a favour from someone. My boy wants to get the Scott Dann and Wilf posters from the match day programmes which I believe we're Chelsea and Sunderland games. Happy to pay postage etc if someone still has the programmes with the kids section in the back. Failing that I'll see if a friend can pick them up at the club shop for me.

What ever happened to the guy

Who streamed the game in the U.S (Richmond?) via periscope or some other streaming app. Did he eventually make it to Selhurst as he had hoped and planned to?

I was randomly thinking about watching that game yesterday as it was streamed with commentary from him and his drunken mates:D

It was a great unique way to watch Palace

Crystal Palace all-time England XI

Pretty much picks itself.

The inclusion of a couple of loan players is a bit iffy... I would put Sansom in place of Cole, move southgate to center half (Upson FFS!) and put Steve Kember in midfield (not sure he got a full cap, but certainly an Under 23 Cap).

Am I missing anybody?

Fan of the Year 2015/16

The Crystal Palace Supporters’ Trust has been asked by CPFC to organise this year’s Fan of the Year Award which will be presented at the Player of the Year Awards, to take place on 12 May at The Odeon, Leicester Square.

The voting will take place in two stages: firstly, we are asking fans for nominations. The Trust Board will then whittle this down to the top five entries. These final five fans will then be voted for by Palace supporters. The winner will be the supporter that gains the most votes.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday 3 April 2015.

Running the London Marathon before going to Wembley

Wondering how many others are doing the London Marathon on 24/04/16 and then planning on going to the FA Cup semi final at Wembley.

I am aiming to do a sub 4 hour marathon so time wise it is feasible. Whether my legs can handle standing on a packed tube and then all the steps at Wembley then doing it all again after the match is another matter.

What are other marathon runners planning to do?

Negativity Does Nothing To Help The Team

The attacks on Palace's management and the negative attitude by supposed Palace supporters is quite frankly sickening to see on a Palace board.

It helps not one iota and just fuels the media.

At this time everyone needs to pull in the same direction as Palace fans have done in the past.

Certain BBS posters should be ashamed of their negative attitude towards anything Palace and clearly must have a different agenda to the majority of Palace supporters who are disgusted to admit that we have such fickle supporters within the Palace fan-base.

There is no magical solution at this time as the transfer window is closed and so Palace have to make the best of what they have got after an injury crisis has greatly reduced our options and completely changed our season.

Before losing so many important players this Palace side were flying and in 5th place and so there is not a lot wrong with our first choice team when it is available.

Even though players are returning to the team they will need time to get back up to speed and regain match fitness having missed games.

Palace still have a cushion to the drop zone which will buy us some time and allow the team to get back to what it was before the loss of so many players within the space of weeks.

Steve Coppell had a 15 game winless run but he has not faced the same vitriol as that aimed by some at Alan Pardew at this time.

Palace do not need negativity at this time as it does not help the situation.

I was watching Countdown today, for my daily fix of Rachael Riley and Susie Dent and some intellectual stimulation.
So there I was, Kleenex at the ready and trousers by ankles

Bl00dy hell, one of the contestants (reigning champion) was wearing a black HF T-shirt. Connor was his name, and he beat the other contestant to a pulp.

Weird issue at moment

Hi

This might not be the BBS but because I spend so much of my life - sad but true - weeping over threads right now I am seeing the problem here constantly.

When I try to scroll the page (W7 PC using the mouse' scroller) every now and then the browser screen goes blank for a short while and then the page reloads at the top of that page. My first thought was that it was my PC but I am not seeing it anywhere else other than the BBS.

Its not like you could miss it. Actually thinking about it I am getting the same on my ipad too I think. I will check that. Use Chrome mostly but I think it also happened using IE.

It would almost be as if the page was auto-refreshing somehow but not sure why the scrolling would trigger that unless its perhaps because the other content hasn't fully loaded? Bit weird and super irritating. Soz

Great Games part XII - Millwall 1-Palace 4 - 30th March 1996'

Let's jump back into 1996' for 5 minutes. The Prodigy - Firestarter was top of the charts, you couldn't pick up a paper without some mention of the BSE crisis impacting the the European Union and we were three months away before Football supposedly came home in Euro 96' - 20 years ago this month, we were having our very own party in our nearest rivals back yard.

We'd been on a run which had seen only one defeat in twenty league games and first up in our Easter schedule, we'd make the short journey to the New Den against Millwall who were in free-fall at the time (and ultimately relegated despite being top at Christmas) Palace sat third in the league before going into this match. This game wasn't only a huge win against our nearest rivals but also provided a moment of comical genius thanks to Millwall's mullet haired Yank keeper Kasey Keller.

It was a scrappy first half, Alex Rae who was linked on numerous occasions with a move to Palace had a penalty saved before Hopkin fired in the opener early in the second half with a low rifled shot after some decent approach play down the left flank by Ndah.
Kenny Brown making his debut in Palace colours after his midweek loan move doubled the lead, tapping home after Houghton's shot was only parried. Kenny was such a canny acquisition and although rarely remembered did a sound job in the three months he was with us and was a top guy.
Gareth Davies our other "Ginger nut" who will most famously be remembered IMO for giving it large to Jamie Smith in the Play-offs in 97' conceded his second penalty of the game and Millwall cut the deficit, before Ndah scored a third with a low drilled shot from a Hopkin pullback when Kellar went walkabout.
Three points were in the bag and then the icing on the cake to complete the rout.......Houghton dinked the ball in to the area and Ndah with his back to goal tried a spectacular overhead kick, Kellar came to collect and the ball proceeded to bobble and trickle into the goal. It was a calamitous goal to concede but a delight to watch. This period probably culminated in Ndah's finest spell as a CPFC player.
2002' was probably the most intimidating atmosphere's I've seen at the Den but the locals were none to pleased back at New Cross after that one :p

Crystal Palace neighbourhood is also Premier League

the Evening Standard has just declared the Crystal Palace area to be 'the best place to live in London'. Abandon ye all hope Charlton with your obscure postcode and rubbish football team. Laugh at Brighton whose residents must commute on expensive packed trains for centuries every year just to get to the workplace. And as for the other team in the Battersea/Bermondsey area....nobody cares about the Battersea Dogs home five-a-side team. Nobody likes them cos nobody has heard of them.

Car audio in Beckenham/Bromley

Anyone recommend somewhere to get a car stereo plus installation in Beckenham and surrounds please?

I literally can't believe how much Halfords want for installation.

Wide options (lack of)

While we all disagree on many subjects on here, one statement that seems to be universally accepted is that we operate best with two wide players in our team. We like to reminisce on teams gone by, and it seems to me that our success in recent years (even up until Christmas) has been completely underpinned by our wide options.

Our form dipped massively when Yala, and then Sako (our only other real wide* option) got injured. Collectively, I think we all felt ‘get Yala back, get some natural width again and we should be OK’.

What bothers me, however, is that we appear to be conducting this extraordinary experiment, in which Joe Ledley plays left wing and Yala floats about in the hole.

A side that has quite clearly enjoyed sustained success with two wide players is now as unbalanced as I have seen it in years.

I am not trying to start another Pardew out/what’s he doing thread, but I find myself increasingly concerned that, having gotten the squad back to a place where we could field an 11 akin to our most effective side, we have not only chosen not to play the personnel, but have proactively changed the shape, too.

Why do people think we have done this? To what end?

We know 4-2-3-1 suits us, our key players are used to it, and we have the players fit to execute it.

I have seen some understandably justify the move by saying it protects Souare, but, we did this against West Brom who have limited wide threat and against Reading. Surely Pardew can’t think Souare needs protecting from an average Championship side (as much as I think he is League one at best).

So what can possibly be the logic behind this?

*'wide' as in winger, not chunky

Women's Tennis

I see that the issue of professional women tennis prize money is in the news again.

I have never understood how they justify equal 'pay' when they play fewer games and attract fewer spectators.

In fact generally in women's sport if they want to be treated the same as men it seems logical that they should compete with men on equal terms.

What kind of football do we play?

Genuine question.

I'm not someone who is overly concerned with how we play, though of course, I'd prefer to see us go with some flair, attacking prowess, etc. I think most people do.

In all the years I've been going to Selhurst, the only time I've ever thought of staying away was under Taylor's stewardship. That was some of the worst football I've ever seen but I'm digressing here.

So what kind of football are we playing right now? I don't really know but what I would say is that I don't think it is 'open' or 'expansive'. I've read that a fair bit on here recently used as an excuse for why we're losing so much. But I just can't see it.

Once Wickham & Puncheon returns

I genuinely believe that we will survive. We have an international break now and its time for a regroup. I would have thought that Pardew and the coaching staff have some plans already in place for this break. Wickham and Puncheon return giving us some much needed guile and fire power and hopefully with the inclusion of Martin Kelly for Papa Souare and perhaps Brede Hangeland replacing Delaney, i really can see us moving out of trouble.

So when is the ground going to be rebuilt ?

Genuine question as it's frustratingly slow progress seeing that most other clubs at our level have or will be redeveloping their grounds soon .

Are we 'NP' or 'OP?'

samedi 19 mars 2016

So here we are, the only club in the football league without a win this year, can't buy a win and Lady Luck and refs are playing a part too. Yet if we stay up and address the issues in our squad, we stand to make potentially giant strides in the general development of the club.

So are we thinking in ways 'Old Palace' (OP) or 'New Palace?' (NP) at this point?

'OP' thinking clearly states that, with our history, as the only club relegated fourth from bottom, possessing the record number of points, Oldham, ect, we are doomed to make further 'Typical Palace' history and somehow get relegated having been fifth at Xmas. And it will happen with eight minutes of the season left, on goal difference, at Charlton, scored by Mark Hughes, the shot having gone through both Richard Shaw and Nigel Marytn's legs.

Or are we thinking 'NP?' With a reasonable cushion against pretty dismal teams below, a lot of injured players back or close to returning and Lady Luck due to give us a break after Sunderland and Liverpool? And a chance to really change our history and perhaps stature next year?

I'm trying to think 'NP' and am fighting off 'OP' thinking with a whip and a chair. I need solidarity here. Anyone else refusing to be 'OP' and are choosing to be fearlessly 'NP', as our leader, Stevie Parish wishes?

F@ck off pardew

Pretty much the only team left in Europe to not win a league game in 2016

Said yesterday palace don't want us fringing out wins, they'd rather us play a certain way or shay ever the **** it was....???? Pardew you c@nt we're not West Ham demanding a way ffs??!!

As for slating warnock in the press days after the Stoke game, show boating like a cocky wanker saying 'he didn't do a very good job here'
Well Pardew, that was December, it's now nearly April, and we've picked up 4 ******* points and no wins

Is Pardew Right?

In his pre-Leicester press conference, Pards said something to the effect of: I could set the team up to grind out results, but I don't think that's what our fans want. We're not going to change, we'll continue to take the game to the opposition, etc etc.

So... is that what we want? Given our current predicament, would you be happy trading style for results? Or do you think Pardew's approach is correct?

Suggested Team and Formation For: West Ham (away)

----------------Hennessey--------------------
Ward-----Dann-----------Delaney-----Kelly
-------Cabaye---Jedinak----Puncheon
Zaha--------------------------------------Bolasie
------------------Wickham-------------------

Keep it nice and solid. Puncheon in for Ledley due to better mobility. 4-5-1 and try to grind out a point.

My game review chatter

Well. How to balance the resurgent feelings of positivity with the reality of the situation.

It's all so typically palace. The should have been our best season ever. We should have been pushing alongside the likes of West Ham and Leicester against the establishment of the big six (ish) clubs. Instead we have embarked on a slide equalled only in stature by the survival from relegation by Leicester last year. Just the wrong way round.

Let's get to the game. Pardew said we would go toe to toe with Leicester and he wasn't wrong. We lined up the same way we always have been doing recently, virtual best 11 save wickham, potentially swapping puncheon for Jedi or Ledley, which, given the attacking prowess of both those players would be welcome. Sadly puncheon only made the bench and didn't make an appearance, wickham back after international break.

With the games opening exchanges it was a tight affair with Leicester shading it. The biggest thing I noticed was simply how destructive their game plan was. Hustling and bustling to the ball, never letting palace settling into a rhythm even if meant giving away a free kick, nothing cynical but enough to stop them finding a rhythm. Then when palace do manufacture a breakaway the sheer numbers that work hard to flood back are unreal, something in all honesty palace lack completely. Here is the first, biggest difference in the two teams.

The second is the speed of their breaks. Palace are often described as a great counter attacking team but our players take two touches or want to go and beat a man. Leicester do it by one touch football and through this a great chance is created for mahrez who, one on one, is denied by a good save from henessey which is cleared away by Dann.

Then a third difference that comes courtesy of the commentary. When palace pass the ball the players react to the pass, whereas Leicester players are reacting and then the player passes the ball to them. So we are knocking the ball down the line and once hit zaha is off running to it. The other way round vardy starts running and the pass then goes to find him. It's a fundamental difference and very true once you start looking. Our defenders are hitting these long hopeful balls that don't come to anything but the opposite way round the balls seem to be finding a man.

Then came a key part of the match. Two chances for palace. One cross beautifully flighted and as it heads towards the far post ledley is under it but falls over trying to rejig his run. Otherwise it was an easy header in. Instead it fells awkwardly to zaha who messes up. The second I watched in disbelief. The cross comes over, bolasie heads it back across and Ledley stands there dumbfounded as to what he was supposed to do, clearly showing that he is not an attacking force. He should have received the ball and scored, you have to watch it to truly understand it.

What followed that bit of play, with palace clearly on top, was a goal. For Leicester. Ball comes over, vardy smashes a cross shot into the box and mahrez puts it away. Frustration and whilst not the end of the half may have well of been.

The second half came with two changes, sako on for adebayour - who had done pretty much nothing - and Kelly on for soare. He had picked up a booking and was looking dodgy the whole first half. Refreshing to see changes straight away but once again it brings to mind the question that he just doesn't start with the right team. There was also a distinct change in the way we were playing with the defence sitting much deeper.

Bolasie was now playing up front which was kind of working and kind of not. He was proving to be a far better outlet for the pass out, holding the ball up or breaking forward but he was also drifting into the winger role too much.

This leads me into my fourth difference. Leicester have a striker. Who is capable of running the channels but also of getting into positions that are dangerous, also wingers who are able to do the same. We do not have this. God we need a striker. Selfish, demanding of the ball. Courtesy of the bbc stats we crossed the ball 31 times. 31. Read that out loud to yourself. How many chances did that create? 5. That's not goal scoring chances, just where something came of it that was not just cleared. So 26 times the defence just headed clear or it flew over harmlessly. I would love to see the opposite stat for Leicester as they scored from one and really didn't send many in. If I were Pardew I would be demanding The wingers got into the box all the time, that one of the midfielders did the same and the same of whoever is sodding upfront for the game. Then once they understand that spend a good week teaching said wingers how to cross the ball too.

And that was the story of the second half. Palace dominated possession, put in repeated crosses, corner after corner but all were easily dealt with hitting the first man or having no one on the end of them. Leicester always posed a threat on the break but with Kelly being on the pitch it made us more resilient and delenay was an absolute monster all half. Nothing was getting past him. He had the biggest chance of the half too in stoppage time with a beautiful chest down from a corner and the volley smashing off the top of the bar. But sadly with all the endeavour getting the ball to the final third we just didn't fashion anything really worthwhile. With that note the game ended 0-1, the run continues.

So let's talk about the game. We were not bad, I think we were the better team even though the radio immediately said Leicester deserved the win. I guess I could see that from a purely chance created fashion even if we had more possession, more shots, more corners, were fouled more, played the game in their half. God reading that I don't know how we didn't win, oh wait I do. We didn't have a striker on the pitch. The same issue, repeated time and again. God I wish we hadn't sold Murray, even if he was just on the bench to come on he would do a great job. He isn't even freaking playing for Bournemouth!!!

Let's look at the players quickly.

Henessey was good, did everything well, no chance for the goal.

Ward, decent enough, needs better distribution.

Soare looked shaky defensively and whilst loves getting forward has zero final ball and contributed a lot to the crosses failed stat. Off at half time for
Kelly - solid, did his job well and passed well too just not in the same areas of the pitch soare was getting too.

Dann decent enough, again needs to calm the long balls down although he did spread a couple of beauty's.

Delaney. A rock. He was immense second half. Facing up to the pace of their forwards and never letting them past, either putting it out for a corner or clearing completely. Like a wall. Then almost scored to top it all off.

Jedinak was good, every game he looks a bit better and closer to the player he was. Kept trying to get into the box but that's not really his game, but you can see that leading by example spirit you would expect of the captain.

Cabaye - shut down a lot but the ball moved through him a lot, done well too. It's just sad that he isn't in a position to do more damage. We still need that creative player we all hoped he would be.

Ledley, decent enough but was clueless when getting forward!

Zaha largely anonymous, when he did get the ball you could see him coming really deep then trying to beat a man in our own half, pointless and born of frustration. Had some good moments still going forward I just want to see him in the box more, gambling more.

Bolasie, easily our best player going forward, full of tricks again and when moved to striker was a threat, just lacking direction at times and isn't the gambler in the box we need.

Adebayour - looked disinterested and was poor. Touch not there and the glimpses of link up play between the forward three was not there like the week before. Subbed at halftime for
Sako - came on to cover the wing where bolasie was and was good, he shouldn't be trying to beat players but his balls into the box were dangerous and just dying for a striker. Had a strong shot saved too.

Gayle came on for Ledley after 78 minutes and I don't think touched the ball. Give him longer on the pitch or ship him out.

We didn't play badly but the same problems are there and without the set piece goals we were scoring earlier in the season we will continue in this vein. Wickham best come back soon and get Murray back to coach him. We don't have a nice run in and we have to HAVE TO beat Norwich for starters and also Newcastle or we are, simply put, ****ed.

Noticed their ad flash up around the ground today , so out of curiosity had a look at their very innovative food/drink/lifestyle website.

FA Cup win and safety...but would you still want Pardew?

Given that Pardew has managed us during the worse run in our Premier league history and has been far from convincing when called upon tactically, and clearly lacks any real sense of identifying appropriate players for recruitment and has a history previously of doing exactly what he has done with Palace this year at Newcastle ..........even if we won the Cup and managed to limp over the safety line would you really feel convinced that he is the man to take this club forward next season.......

Lost Oyster Card

Hi all, not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if it is wrong!

Just thought I would check on here before handing in this card. It is a Junior Oyster card found on the Holmesdale Road heading home after the game. Belongs to C.A.G and was found inside a season ticket wallet from last season (the one with Murray and Jedi on the front).

If you have lost an Oyster or know someone that has then give me a shout. I will hand this in next week if no one comes forward but all they will do is destroy it so I thought I would try and save someone a new cars few!

Punch needed!

Why was Jason puncheon not used today? The team were crying out for his style of play it's what we've been missing... Wilf and yannick need his balls out of defence setting up breaks and his by far the best player to thread balls into danger areas!
Punch is also needed to take corners and free kicks, Yohan Cabaye does not carry the same dangerous threat.....if fit why the **** was he not used today? :(

Text Messages From The Club

Ok so like everyone, I am now thoroughly ****ed off with this run which has well and truly reached crisis point. So I really don't need a text message from the club saying they hope I enjoyed my afternoon. I suspect many others got one.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Leicester (home)

Poll to follow

So what seems to be the problem?

OH YEAH ..... We havent got a fit credible striker and so rarely score - we didnt have one at the start of the season with Wickham injured, we didnt have one in January window with Wickham injured.

Obvious really - only thousands of fans were saying it and have been saying it since we were promoted. Who have we bought, huge leaps of faith and so far they've all back fired up front. 3 years in the big bucks league and still we dont have a striker worth his weight in feathers let alone gold.

All the pressure on Pardew when in reality it's a disgraceful mismanagement of the club from the board.

To those who feebly try and justify it with FFP - well bollocks since we are paying Adebayor a huge weekly wage to not score.

Everyone is accountable and its about time Parish shows some humility and admits to us the loyal fans that he ****ed up.

I dont want heads to roll as I think thats backward thinking, he's a good chairman, Pardew is a good manager, the team are full of good players but it still doesnt mean mistakes arent made, they are but to treat us like mugs, tens of thousands of loyal fans is just rude.

We gave Adebayor £80k wages a huge salary and enough to attract any number of top quality active strikers rather than pin our hopes on someone clearly past it regardless of how many headers he may win - christ Peter Crouch would have been better!

So pissed off by it all always doing things on the squeeze, tight as **** and by the skin of our teeth.

I'm almost certain we'll turn it around and win a few games but it didnt need to be this way and certainly not when we were such an attractive proposition in 5th position when the window opened.

--------------- would anyone buy Gayle for a £1?

Tapping it about at the back

Pards, please stop us doing this. Especially when we're losing. Thanks.

The Bolasie Through the Middle Experiment

When will AP stop this idiocy of playing our best player out of position? Sure it worked a few times when it surprised teams but Bolasie has scored 8 goals in 82 games for us in the Premier League and hasn't scored more because he's NOT a good finisher!! His value is beating left and right backs and putting crosses in the boxes and at worst getting corners not getting on the end of crosses.

Palace fans running the London Marathon for charity

Creating this thread for us poor souls who will be plodding round London on the 24th while every other palace fan gets p!ssed up and has a great day watching our team smash Watford.

It seems most of us runners will not finish in the 2/3hr time that would allow us to get to the game. Personally, as a regular for 37 years, I'm gutted but my training commitment over the last 5 months and to my charity out weighs the option of pulling out. I will be showing support by running in a palace kit around charlton and the isle of dogs so I'm sure there will be some banter with the locals!

Can other palace runners add their links to this thread so people here can choose who/if they fancy adding a pound or two to our totals.

Fish Kettle

I picked a really nice old aluminium French, fish kettle, complete with its lifting tray at a market last week. The peasants were selling it as planter ! I'm going to poach a whole salmon and I've got the various recipes for the poaching liquid. What I want to know is do you cover the fish in the liquid, gently bring to a simmer and then turn off the gas and let it cool or put about half an inch of liquid in the kettle and steam the fish? Google has not been much help.

Anyone got a clue when the Everton home game is going to be, my wife needs to do her work availability and I'd like an educated guess. I reckon 10th or 11th May. Any better idea's or ITK's ?

Deluded Pardew?

Trying to put a positive spin on things, or is Pardew completed delusional?

AP today: "We're in a really good place, our last six or seven of games have been a couple wins, couple of draws, couple of defeats.

"We're in really good form but of course not enough of it has been in the league."

Earlier in this run Pardew was still talking up this could be our best ever season, now he's saying we're in really good form. After the point against Swansea he talked in the past tense that it had been a bad run of form. Does AP understand the problem?

Odd one here and I hope not too sinister.

Storyville and other documentaries

Just finished watching an episode of Storyville on iPlayer. This one's about James Randi who attempts to debunk psychics and charlatans. It was pretty interesting and got me on here looking for other recommendations, but was surprised I could't find any threads. Here's a few that I enjoyed in the hope that you might post one that you liked...

The two Escobars - Pablo and the poor bastard that scored that own goal. Fascinating, if tragic, story with some incredible world cup footage.

The Endurance - This one's about Ernest Shackleton and his big adventure in Antarctica. The don of all documentaries imo.

Shooting Bigfoot: America's Monster Hunters - All about the people this one, and there's some real characters in it. At times a bit sad, others dark, but often very funny.

Suggestion: Who?

We are all quite good at suggesting which positions we would improve/replace but less good at who.

This is intended to be a brain dump of which players people would look at in terms of coming in, rather than a suggestion thread for each one.

So we have: GK, RB, LB, CB, DCM, ACM, Winger, Striker

GK: Timo Horn (£6m), Loris Karius (£5.25m), Asmir Begovic (£9m), Jeroen Zoet (£4.5m)
RB/LB: Ricardo Pereira (£3.4m)
CB: Nicolas N'Koulou (Free), Issa Diop (£300k), Jannik Vestergaard (£5.25), Jonathan Tah (£7.5m), Joel Matip (free)
DCM: Julian Weigl (£6.75m), Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (tribunal)
ACM: Mahmoud Dahoud (£6m), Davy Klaassen (£7.5m), Hakim Ziyech (£7.5m)
Winger: Nicolas de Preville (£2m)
Striker: Arkadiusz Milik (£5.25m)

Fees are transfermarkt 'values' so clearly a bit more needed to get them.

Nice one. Labour may have a few anti-semites lurking in the lower ranks (er, so does every UK political party) but it takes the tories to play an openly racist card in a major election campaign for a global city.

Just in case anyone has forgotten, hindu/muslim "communal violence" has claimed literally millions of lives in the past century and is ongoing in India today, at least partly inspired by Indian PM Modi.

Now the arsehole that is James Goldsmith wants to stir it up here in London. Disgusting tactics and playing with fire.

Anyone want to defend this shit?

Old Shares Certificate

While looking for something else at my Mother-in-Law’s, as tends to happen, we found an old share Certificate from 1987 for 50 shares in an old Canadian Gold Mining Company.

After some reasonably extensive research I found the company has gone through two acquisitions and 2 name changes, but I have ended up with what appears to be a publicly traded company that can be traced back to the name on the share certificate.

This gold mining company has evolved into what appears to be some kind of electronic money transfer management company (probably headed up by Russ_UK!).

My question to the oracle that is the BBS, is a company obliged to honour a stock issued against one of its former incarnations? And if so… how the **** do I sell the damn thing.

I should add, that it would seem that from my best guess the value of these 50 shares might be around $550 at best, so I’m not going to be able to bid of a hostile Palace takeover bid just yet.

P.S. The website of this current company is non-existent, which is not a good sign.

Match Updates: Barca vs Arsenal/Bayern Munich vs Juve

obviously everyone's going to watch Barca humiliate Arsenal (Wenger hasn't even put out a full strength side lol) but the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the world (arguably) are also playing, with Bayern having the advantage on away goals after it finished 2-2 at the Juventus Stadium (bit of a boring name for a stadium). Barca on BT Europe, Bayern on BT 2. There's probably some way to watch on Kodi as well.

my predictions: Barca 4-1 Arsenal, Bayern 1-0 Juve

Have looked online and tried to ring for information on what to apply for so was wondering if anybody has any advice as at this moment I have no money coming in at all. I know I may not get anything due to me leaving my last employer but it was work related stress. Any help Palace Family be greatly appreciated. Gonna see my GP tomorrow.

Budget

What do we think?

Certainly a lot busier than anticipated. There's going to be much interest in this new 'lifetime' ISA. 25% bonus for everyone under 40? That's about as close as it comes to helicopter money. I assume it'll be means tested.

Sugar tax an interesting one. Two year lead in should hopefully nudge the industry into action before then.

Stevie Wonder - Hyde Park

SO so chuffed just had to tell someone - and as im alone in my office its you lucky lot!

Just managed to buy 2 tickets to see who i think is properly on the 'legend' level this summer in hyde park.

His only european date ... cant bloody wait!!

Will Gayle get 90 minutes anytime soon?

I like Gayle and I think he could strike up a good partnership with Wickham when he's fit or with Adebayor. I hear some people think he's lightweight which I don't agree with but there is also the argument all the managers he has played under at Palace don't play him so why offer a 4 year contract to him to sign? I would play him on Saturday vs Leicester but wouldn't be surprised if he's on the subs bench. I think we can get a result on Saturday so what do we think about Goalmachine?!

Things you are reading/watching something about

mardi 15 mars 2016

big fan of the Things you are... style of thread on here and here's another one. What interesting things are you currently reading about on wikipedia or somewhere or watching a documentary about?

I'm reading a thread on another forum about the Hatton Garden heist which led me to a video of how the drill they used to get through the vault walls works (apparently two holes with a gap in between drilled then they drilled through the middle). Apparently it'll set you back £3,500 so if you've got a score in mind then maybe have a look

Why aren't league cup "runs" not as celebrated as FA Cup "runs"?

Given that our place in the Semi final of this year's FA Cup has been confirmed, this year will join the historical folklore of 1976, 1990 and 1995 but it seems that fans seem to think more favourable towards FA Cup runs than league cup runs.

Why is that? Is it Glamour? Is it Prestige? Is it perception?

Birmingham and Swansea fans will happily tell you that winning the League Cup was a special highlight in their (recent) history, i'm sure that if we had lifted that trophy, we would be waxing lyrical about how wonderful it was and it heightened the profile/brand of the club etc.

We were a penalty shoot out away from the final in 2012 yet that team nor that "run" are talked about with any fondness apart from that rocket from Ambrose at Old Trafford (which wasn't even the winning goal on the night). Joniesta's first goal for the club versus Wigan & Calvin Andrew getting the winner versus M'boro in the earlier rounds have been lost to history.
Likewise, the "run" in 1994/95 is barely spoken about, only been beaten by the eventual winners in Liverpool. Those exciting and emphatic results against Villa and Manchester City felt special at the time but are not held in the same regard as their FA Cup counterparts.

Just curious really.

Things more likely to happen than Wenger leaving Arsenal

There is the possible, the probable and the downright unlikely.

So what is more likely than Wenger leaving Arsenal.
He is the Arsenal-Barnacle. Fastened to the rock and going nowhere.

For starters :
1 Ken Livingstone will remember the name of Selhurst Park
2 Kim Kardashian will be impregnated by Steptoe
3 John Terry will win sports personality of the year

Question to Steve Browett RE New ST Holders getting a Ticket for Wembley

Hi Steve,

I posed this question to you on the main thread about the cup semi final but it looks like you didn't catch it amongst all the other comments and debates on there.

As a result of going to plenty of games and seeing us win many of them over the past three years a few weeks ago my Mum took the plunge and bought herself a full season ticket for next campaign. Does this mean that she is now eligible to buy a ticket for the forthcoming FA Cup Semi Final (and possibly the final) along with all of this year's season ticket holders and members?

Just to confirm that she bought the season ticket on February 29th so this isn't a sneaky ploy just to ensure she gets a day out at Wembley following Friday's result. Your response would be much appreciated.

Cheers

MV

Match Updates: Leicester vs Newcastle

Massive match this imo

We could do without Newcastle getting that new manager bounce.

2-0 Leicester with Vardy and Mahrez both injured would suit me.

Who will we draw in the semi final?

I say Man Utd on Sunday.

Assisted Living/Senior Care facilities

Currently getting my Mother-in-Law moved into an Assisted Living home, and have found the whole process rather eye opening.

I was wondering how our experience compares to how it works in The UK.

Firstly, all the brochures and websites for these facilities show healthy people enjoying playing shuffle board or laughing and smiling in groups having a fine meal. The impression is of being on a seniors cruise ship.

In reality when you tour these facilities, most of the residents are using walkers or wheelchairs, many have oxygen going, and they seem insular, lonely and certainly not smiling. The odd one or two will be talking or sharing a dinning table.

Secondly, the staff are non-medical, the facilities cannot do anything other than distribute medication. They cannot take blood pressures, or change bandages - to have this type of care requires going into a skilled nursing facility and additional cost. Any medical problem will result in the paramedics being called, or the resident being sent to a doctors office.

Basically the places are an all inclusive hotel, with the addition of care to help you dress and bathe (at additional cost), and to make sure you take your medications.

The places are incredibly depressing, despite their efforts to make out the contrary. Whoever coined the phrase, "God's Waiting Room" nailed it.

I'm going to have to watch some re-runs of One Foot in the Grave for inspiration!

Discussion: How many players do we need?

Koop signed 17 his first season at Borussia and then at least 10 every season he was there. Yet, he is seen as a great manager, I know we question AP's signings, but Klopps policy suggests how hit and miss the whole process is. So what do we need/ do?

When do the clocks go forward in The UK?

It's time for Hedgehog's annual time change dilemma. And to avoid the wrath of Dave (wherever he may be) from bumping an old thread, I'm starting a new one.

We put them forward last night here in The US.

My usual questions... when do you do the same in The UK, and what is the time currently in The UK (i.e. +7 hours from PST, or +9)?

This of course is all because of Palace, and missing the start of game, or getting up 2 hours before I need to.

Obviously I will never get the hang of this...

League or cup?

So what would everyone prefer, staying up or winning the cup?

Cabaye to Liverpool.

Anyone know if he is unsettled at Palace as was reported in the Mirror this morning?

New England kits for 2016

Ok these haven't been officially unveiled yet, but given that I read months ago ALL Nike kits this year will have "contrasting socks", I have no doubt these are real or at least close to the actual kit that will be released.

For example I know Inter Milan for 2016/17 will play in traditional Black and Blue but with Flourescent Yellow Socks.

Wembley Admission Prices

The prices for someone like me living in Scotland and been off sick for a few months off work so money is tight means I won't be at Wembley this time. It cost me a small fortune for the game in 2013 but I loved every minute. Now if that makes me a plastic so be it but I been a fan for nearly 40 years and I was one of those 5,000 regulars back in the early 80's and only missed one game from 1978-1987. I will be in a pub or at home and will be Loud, Proud and PALACE

Win the FA Cup or stay up?

If I had to decide, it would be win the FA Cup.

I'm in my 50s and have been a fan for 40 years. I cherish the memories of that semi and the 1990 Finals. Great memories, but I want us to win something!!!!!

I would die happy if we lifted the Cup!!

:o

Mike Dean

Referees usually get a lot of criticism. More often than not for good reason. But I thought Mike Dean was excellent yesterday, I can't think of any decisions he got wrong. Even the penalty decision, which was soft, was probably the right call.

Comparison ps

Mid level championship side
Play in blue and white
Nice shiny modern grounds with poor transport
Fans that think their team is bigger than it is
Night time KO
Clackers to ensure noise from plastic fans
Oh 2-0 to the away team and they get to go to Wembley

If Carlesberg did away games......

It would have to be Reading took 30 mins longer to get to than Selhurst we got straight to the car park, checked in to hote, had a nice meal, back to room quick stroll to ground, great view, half time wife collected my six year old, we won, 5 min walk to hotel, got up swim with DD full English and 90 mins to get home don't get much better than that

Reading Palace review

If you are reading this, you must have survived the celebrations……..

This has been hard to write, feeling rough from said celebrations but almost a mighty shout out to the guy using a circular saw outside my window at 8:30 this morning, blatantly a Seagull….

Now forgive me before you start reading this, but I feel I need to qualify the tone in advance. The performance made me feel odd, we talked about it on the night, it was almost an empty victory. Have we changed the way in which we view the club that much? The win against Spurs felt great, this one was more about relief than anything. To quote “Is this how Man U fans feel like after every match?”. It was Reading, we were fully expected to win this, they are not a good team and we are a premiership team, so my expectations were higher than they should be. It’s the sodding cup and however annoying the BBC adverts are ‘anything can happen’ so I should have been expecting that. For some reason however, I did not. I cannot put my finger on it.

The team line up was no shock, Hennessey back in goal, otherwise the same team line up as the Liverpool game. When the game started though the way in which the team was playing was not the same – Ledley seemed to be playing more as an attacking midfielder with the defensive duties not needed, Bolasie was also roaming again, to the extent that the left wing looked completely abandoned. The start of the game however was nothing like the way in which we started the game against Liverpool. There was not the same fluidity, it felt disjointed again. The passing was not crisp, the movement was not there, it was as if they had forgotten how to play as a team once more. There was some encouragement up front though, the front three of Bolasie, Zaha and Adebayour were looking good together, with some interesting passing moves, flowing forward. The problem was the same though, that with the great movement the final part was missing – GETTING IN THE BOX.

I am going to stop for a rant now. Who is our attacking coach? Why does he not tell the forward line up to get into the box? Mark Bright is there doing training, he used to always get in the box to great success so why isn’t he whispering in their ears? Ian Wright watches a lot of games; he must be tearing his hair (erm nose hair?) out watching the striker force. Broken record time but if Murray were playing he would be in the box, throwing himself at the ball, gambling as to where the ball could potentially be, like all great strikers do. We have seen Bolasie do it for a game, bag a hat trick. Zaha did it for a few games and was picking up goals. Why are they choosing to not attack like this? It seems so simple and yet consistently we are not doing it.

Back to the game. It was going ok, more due to the fact that Reading were too poor to do anything about our average performance. When they got possession they were pretty much just giving it straight back to us. Their only outlet was tricky left winger but a lot of the time his final ball decision making was wasting anything that he created. So the game was Palace putting some pressure on Reading, winning free kicks and corners, lots of corners, but nothing was really coming out of it. We were not creating a multitude of clear cut chances. Instead we were painting rainbows over their box, the ball being the brush. Over it would go, Adebayour 3 yards back from where he should have been, recycle and put the ball over and Ledley would be the furthest forward, recycle, ping it over and no one is in the box. Cabaye seemed to have his eye in when it came to deliveries and direct free kicks too, but the keeper was up to the task. There were 2 solid free kicks that were saved during the match, just lacking some pace.

Chances wise the ones of note were a breakaway – yes we were still managing to have break-aways in spite of Reading really not pushing forward – where Bolasie laid the ball off into the box for Adebayour but, under pressure, his shot was well saved from close range at the left side of the goal. A decent chance and you think a fully fit Adebayour puts it away. Other than that the only one I remember of note in the first half was another Bolasie moment, pushing forward to the right side of the box and beating his man, shooting well but saved by the keeper with the rebound falling to Ledley who smashed it over, stretching and under pressure.

Actually we did have a few chances, maybe I am being harsh. Bolasie had an effort he smashed just past the near post, then a similar one a short while later. A combination of their keeper and our inaccuracy proving key. The second attempt saw Bolasie breaking across the box and you could see him curling it with his right foot into the far corner but instead he smashed it wide of the near post instead.

Something else that really got my goat happened not only once, but twice. Cast your minds back to that penalty we conceded from a corner, a bit of tugging in the box. Fair enough that it was a foul, but let’s come back to this game. An almost identical challenge happens, the referee blows his whistle with the corner incoming and goes ‘boys, cut it out, take the corner again’. What the hell is that? Different rules for different teams. The second time was even more farcical. Same blow up by the ref but this time Zaha was literally pushed into the back of the net. Undoubted foul, if you walked up and pushed a player off the pitch anywhere on the park it’s a foul so why not here? It was blatant, Zaha wouldn’t just run into the net mid corner, so why is it not a foul? Someone needs to have a word.

With that the game strolled into half time. Palace were doing ok, reading were shocking to be honest. They really didn’t look like they would pose a threat, palace looking like they didn’t know how to score still.

The second half started pretty much the same. The pressure was starting to ramp up though, one of those Cabaye free kicks well saved and from a wide free kick the ball landed on Jedi’s head and his powerful header was again well saved by Al Habsi. It was starting to feel like one of those traditional cup games, a string of saves by the keeper whilst the defending team hope to snatch something to win 1-0.

Their moment almost came. They pushed down the right and a deep cross is allowed into the box and the overlapping man at the far post gets a free header, luckily Hennessey is up to the task and keeps the ball out with his legs. No idea who was marking that man and why the ball was allowed into the box so easily. That was their chance to score and snatch it and I don’t think that Palace would have been able to recover from that, the confidence would have been totally shot to hell.

With all this pressure building something silly happened then. Zaha got involved in an innocuous argument with a reading player which then became a massive case of handbags with the first man flying in was Delaney, face lit up ready for a brawl. The referee looked dumbfounded and confused as to what was going on and sauntered about – to steal someone’s description – looking like Jasper Carrot! Those of the right age should be able to picture that. It all ended with a couple of yellow cards, but more importantly the referee lost all control of the game for 15 odd minutes. It was suddenly very scrappy, fouls, cards, the flow was being completely disrupted and I feared that all the building pressure would be ruined by Zaha’s indiscretion and the referee’s confusion.

The game continued and palace were continuing to attack but we just didn’t look like carving out that clear cut chance that would decide the match. Until a key moment and I guess its focussed around the referee again. A recycled (feels like my word of the day that does) ball is pumped back direct into the box, almost like a rugby up and over, with Bolasie bursting onto it. The pundits question whether he would make it but I think he would for sure, as he runs in he has his eyes locked on the balls flight and the reading defender sticks out his arm and drags him back. Inexplicable really, like that moment a defender stops the ball going over the line with his arm, almost like instinct but the result is a penalty and the defenders marching orders. He will be kicking himself as it was not necessary and the form their keeper was in, he most likely would have saved it anyway!

Anyway up steps Cabaye for the penalty. I haven’t felt his tense in a long time, I almost cannot watch. The last time I felt like this was when Super Kev was lining up his effort. An interesting point of comparison in my eyes as it makes me think about how important this fixture could potentially be to the club – cup run continues, the hope it will change our form in general, lift the teams spirit, maybe it’s the key to Cabaye turning his own season around. Cabaye runs in and blasts in just off centre, the keeper barely moves and the balls hits his hand….. oh god he’s blown it, our season is over, how do we come back from throwing this? Then the balls bounces, its inside the post, the keeper only parried it and didn’t manage to keep it out! Palace score and the relief in the pub is immense. A wave of emotion outpouring, pent up frustration gone, belief coming back into the faces. The atmosphere restored.

The game then continued with reading having to do something but not really looking like they will be able to, however palace were continuing to give them the best chance they could. Our defence looks completely lacking in composure, suddenly we are slicing clearances back into our own box, hoofing the ball clear back to their midfield, giving away free kicks. Luckily they were not able to manufacture anything out of these opportunities and it enabled palace to keep trying to break away and waste time. One moment between Cabaye and Bay Bay in the corner a great example but the big man was caught offside in the process, typical palace I was thinking.

Then came the final moment, late in the game Zaha is having none of this time wasting malarkey and sets off on a mazy run, beating 3 defenders but they create an effective wall so he lays the ball across to Adebayour who puts a fantastic first time pass back into the box and Campbell is breaking into the area – WAIT! Campbell? When the hell did he come on? Has he just run on the pitch from the bench of his own accord? – he passes the ball to the keepers left but he gets something on it and the ball hits the inside of the post! AAAAAH typical palace finish, but wait the ball falls nicely for Campbell and he is able to smash the ball home from 1 yard, just ahead of the despairing dive of the keeper. I wish we could score goals like this more often and we should. That run made by Campbell was what we were crying out for all game and that moment of quality from Adebayour the same. I hope it provides the lift to the players that it gave to the fans.

And that is the game. Done and dusted, the team are off to Wembley for the semi-finals of the FA cup! Could this be our year? I am hoping so although there are no easy teams left now so we will need to improve our form a lot by the time that game comes around. Believe.

Looking at the players during the match there were some questionable displays I want to pick out. Firstly, between the sticks Hennessey, another questionable day where he just doesn’t seem to have the confidence of the defence, notably Dann heading the ball pretty much out of his hands at one point. A cross came in that he completely misjudged and flaps at deep at the far post where Ward was shepherding it out, so instead it falls to a reading man who fluffs his lines and cannot carve an opening for himself. It’s getting beyond a joke now, he had such a good spell but at what point does a player need a break to regain his confidence, as his is shot to hell.

Soare is the other man to pick out, he looked suspect all game. He almost gave away one chance when he completely lost the ball between his feet. Then every time the ball came to him his control looked suspect, clumsy and his passes were too strong, misguided or simply just hoofs down the line to no one. A couple of times he needed his pace to make up for his errors in positioning or a poor challenge.

Otherwise the rest of the team did a job, nothing outstanding, nothing of real note to pick out. But as a whole the performance was OK, it seems like the media were loving it and saying how great we were but that is not what I saw on the pitch. We were definitely the better team that is without doubt but still far from our best. Never did we reach the level that we did against Liverpool for example. A better team would have put us to the sword I feel before we finally got our break. I honestly expected us to put them to the sword and win by 4 goals, to banish the demons, I was shocked that the odds were 13/10 and thought that was easy money on the palace win! How wrong I was.

Next up we welcome Leicester to Selhurst Park, I have heard they are a small team, shouldn’t pose too many problems to our team, especially as they are favourites to go down. (information may be a little out of date).

Things could be far worse! COYP
