Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year to all Palace fans wherever you may be.

Suggestion: Callum Wilson

Bump, could we have a chance signing this guy? Not getting much time at Bournemouth and looked good before his injury

Suggestion: Gareth Barry

Always been a fan. Left footed. Can hold in midfield. Getting on a bit and will surely slip into a centre back yet again. If Everton are going to continue to snaffle our transfer targets at centre mid (Gueye and now Schneiderlin) let's take their player who will lose out as a consequence. Far better player than McCarthy, and could play left sided centre back as well as holding mid. Thoughts?

Suggestion: Barrie McKay

Rangers left winger seen him play few times tricky winger only 22 time to improve

New Years Eve. Is it just me ?

Hate it with a passion

Love Christmas. Hate New Year.

I seem to be a lone voice in this round my way. Wife wants to go out and party and I would rather eat my own arm.

That's all.

Suggestion: Jan Kirchoff

I see that Kirchoff at Sunderland is out of contract in the summer. Was a brilliant signing by Allardyce in the last January window and can play central defender or defensive midfield. Would be ideal for us and potentially a good price given only 6 months contract left. Had some injuries this season though.

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Discussion: Out of contract players

jeudi 29 décembre 2016

We have nine players of of contract this summer:

Crystal Palace (9): Joe Ledley, Wayne Hennessey, Martin Kelly, Mathieu Flamini, Fraizer Campbell, Zeki Fryers, Damien Delaney, Julian Speroni, Kwesi Appiah.

Looks like we may have a fairly big rebuilding job regardless of what division we are in.

Why is the Swansea game just 48 hours after Arsenal game?

Why did the club agree to move the Swansea game back just 24 hours to Tuesday night instead of 48 hours to Wednesday night? It hands Swansea a huge advantage with an extra 24 hours recovery time, coming back to bite us in the arse with the amount of injuries we have too. Just doesn't make sense, surely after the televised matches were announced they could of re scheduled for Wednesday?

Mid-Season Crystal Ball: What will be our final position?

This is the traditional thread at this time of year. You simply need to vote to say where you believe we will finish.

By all means post your thoughts on the thread if you want to, but to score points in the Crystal Ball competition you must vote in the attached poll, because that's what will be used to record who voted for the winning position - 5 points if you get it spot on, or 2 points if you are one position out.

There is, of course, a deadline. Your vote has to be recorded on the poll before the second half of the season gets under way - so, before we kick off against Swansea.

And if you want to recall how you voted in the same poll pre-season, you can find out here. To view the link you have to Register or Login If you then click on any of the vote numbers, it will then display the names of everyone's votes for all the positions.

Boateng Recalled By Palace From Loan

Palace have recalled Hiram Boateng early from his loan at Bristol Rovers.

I would love to see him now included in the First team squad as he has a lot of qualities that Palace are missing in the team.

Rumour: Allardyce is apparently prepared to sell Zaha

Apparently Allardyce is angry with Zaha for deciding to play for Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations, and is prepared to sell Zaha for £30m in January. I really hope we keep hold of Zaha, who would we get to replace him?

Don Bradman 17 [All platforms]

I purchased this yesterday; however having difficulties in transferring my creations (Teams/Players) from Don Bradman 14 though advised was straight forward.

Anyone know how to assist?

Things to know:-
* DB14 was on XBOX360, DB17 on PS4
* Username on XBOX360 is different to that on PS4 (you can find context by Username so shouldn't be an issue)

Apart from that, how are people finding it? Love the badge/ground creation modes too.

Really hope we get him, class player. Wanted us to sign him for years.

Suggested Team and Formation For: Bolton

I know it's a bit early for this, but I'm wondering how the new boss will approach this one. He's got a reputation for prioritising the league and, in current circumstances, that seems fair enough this season. However, we're pretty much playing all our fit players anyway.

So, is this an opportunity for him to try out some of his ideas by picking the first team or does he give a load of kids their debuts? Maybe debuts for a new signing or two and a recall for Kaikai too? A run out for Remy at last perhaps?

There has to be a very good chance we'll see Speroni, so that will be worth the trip for those of us who want to see a bit of history.

BFS Relegation

So we have BFS and relegation for many is no longer a possibility.
What Happens then if BFS takes us down?

I'm scratching my head trying to think of suggestions.

I also believe there are one or two other clubs looking for the same.

Suggestions?

Does death scare you?

Personally I'm absolutely petrified!

I'm 50 so seeing all these 'not so old' celebrities dying makes me realise that, relatively speaking, it's almost over! It's hard to believe that it's 17 years since the millennium; it just seems like a couple of years ago...time flies!

Dying scares that absolute poop out of me!

Pape Souarè

Sad news, Pape Souare has just posted on his facebook profile that his father has died. :sob:

Buying stuff from the shop online

Has anyone else had problems with the online shop. Ordered a kit for my 4 year old for Christmas - way before the announced deadline (I ordered it on 9th Dec) and it still isn't here. I didn't chase it before Christmas as I did make a mistake on the address it was ordered to - not a problem as I could collect it but unfortunately they were away until Christmas Eve. Then when I discovered there was no parcel or card to collect form the post office it was too late to do anything about it.

I called the club shop this morning but they said i had to email, they couldn't deal with it as it needed to go to the mail order team. I already emailed them on Monday evening but no response so far (although to be fair I don't think they were there yesterday).

It's not much to ask is it - to get my children's Christmas presents to me on time? Every other retailer I ordered through managed it!

It could be Royal Mail but as I now see from the website that i was supposed to get a dispatch email and I didn't, I suspect it was never dispatched.

Bloody stupid idea. 32 teams for me is just the right amount as you don't end up with teams playing silly buggers as much as you did with 24 teams (as shown in the Euros). 48 teams and two of three from each group going through just sounds proper shit if you ask me.

Rumour: Kieran Gibbs

The Sun saying we are targeting him in the window.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

SAM ALLARDYCE is keeping a close eye on Kieran Gibbs’ contract situation at Arsenal.

Big Sam needs a left-back at Crystal Palace and Gibbs has emerged as a target with just 18 months left on his current deal at the Emirates.

Gibbs was on Palace’s radar before Allardyce landed the job to succeed Alan Pardew at Selhurst Park.

And they could make a move when the January transfer window opens next month, with Arsene Wenger aware his player’ value will drop as his contract runs down.

Wenger is set to weigh up whether he needs Gibbs for a title challenge as the England full-back is behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order.

Gibbs started in the 1-0 victory over West Brom on Boxing Day but suffered a “kick” to the knee, according to Wenger, and was forced off after banging knees with Claudio Jacob.

After the match Wenger said: “It’s a kick. I don’t know how bad it is, but it’s a kick on the knee.”

Swansea have also shown interest in Gibbs, although staying in London and Premier League safety looking more likely with Allardyce in charge could make Palace a more attractive proposition.

Should Wenger decide to keep Gibbs in the squad, it would increase the pressure on thrashing out a new deal before entering the last season of his current terms.

Behind the Badge - Watford

New series and this season and it is Watford's turn. I hope it screws up their season like it did Palace's last season.

Anyway I watched it yesterday and it appears Watford are about, if not worse when it comes to ground and training ground facilities than Palace.

As it is not Palace, it definitely is not as interesting but on the other hand it's amazing how similar everything is.

Jedinak

Having a good season with Villa. I can't help but think Sam would have loved him. I was never hugely in the #PardsOut camp but this is one thing that still doesn't sit right with me.

Collymore on Wilf

Have a look at what that women beating Cock has said about Wilf in today's Daily Mirror. Basically he doesn't rate him, England shouldn't pick him and his a diver.

Well what about you gobshite woman beater and general failure

Silly Palace game

OK - who are these recent/current Palace players?

Mikatarian's goal

Watched Moan v Sun yesterday and saw that goal by Mikatarian(sp). A few points:

1 yes, it was spectacular
2 yes it showed athleticism
3 yes it livens up a game

But

It was offside!

The media drool over the goal. Sure, it was offside, they say, but how could you disallow it. I mean, it was Moan, Old Trafford, full house, they're winning. Why spoil an otherwise great day and a great goal?
This is why referees feel they can give the likes of Moan benefits. Otherwise, the media will crucify them.:grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:

Thank Goodness 2016 is over.

27 points from 37 games. Just horrific. Hopefully we start afresh with a positive result against Arsenal on 1 Jan. Onwards and upwards. COYP.

CPFC Singing Redacted v Watford

It would appear to some of my family that Sky redacted many of our chants especially about Clattenburg. As I was at the game I've no way of telling. Is this right?

Pep doesn't seem to rate him that highly? Could be a loan option for the rest of the season?

Player Ratings And Reviews: Watford

First half I thought we played extremely well. We looked fluid and a threat every time we got the ball forward. Flamini seems to bring a calmness to the midfield and does the simple things very well. We should have been at least 2-0 up at half time.
Second half was very scrappy and Clattenburg took over with some strange decisions for both sides. We looked very shaky at times and then gave the most softest of penalties. Think our energy ebbed away and with not much options on the bench I am happy with a point. I think once BFS sorts out the fitness levels the concentration will come back. We need to acquire a left back in the window as we look very unbalanced. However All bodes well for the rest of the season.

Starting 11 v Arsenal

With Delaney suspended we have some problems at the back.

We also have an important game v Swansea 2 days later. However a very good thread was created recently highlighting the importance of getting points against the top 6

McArthur and Ledley were missing today. Hopefully they will come back for the next games.

Defence for arsenal..

How the hell are we going to set up with Damo suspeneded and tomkins injured?

Fyers-Dann-Kelly-Ward ? arsenal will have fun..

Our penalty taker?

We can't bring Jedinak back so who should we go for, wasting golden opportunities at the moment.

Suggestion: Allan?

CDM from Napoli.

Best band/artist from south London

With the passing of David Bowie and now Rick Parfitt left me thinking that south London has produced some pretty memorable acts and musicians. Obvious ones are David Bowie, Status Quo, Peter Frampton but also the Damned, Siouxie, through to Basement Jaxx, Pixie Lott, Alabama 3, Pete Tong, . Showing my age here but in your opinion, who is the best act from South London?

You Tubers

Are there any BBSers out there with there own channels? Have you or anyone you know actually become so popular with views that you've made some money?

I've got two on the go. My first is one I think most of you have visited: 'nicktimo11', the home of my 'Palace Minute' animations. I did that purely for pleasure and never monetised them, but despite that have managed to pull in over 800 subscribers.

My second channel; one which I'd like to be in a position to earn on, 'Bubble Education', is one I've only recently got off the ground. I work in education - in an additional needs school - and have always wrote songs to aid the children's learning. Decided to put my musical skills and animation to good use and started making educational videos for young children - nursery age/P1's and for children with learning difficulties. Here it is:

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Noticed that some similar channels get ridiculously massive viewing figures. One guy who writes simple guitar tunes for kids on a backdrop of simple but moorish videos is raking in £40,000 a month: 'KidsTV123'.

Just wonder if anyone out there has any good advice and experience about building a channel and maximising subscribers? So far I have a poultry 90 :(. Apparently you need 1,000 before you can join AdSense and start making money off your channel's hits. I've tried boosting views through eye catching thumbnails, appropriate titles, good tag keywords and opening up a Facebook page in conjunction. This has actually helped garner quite a bit of interest in many foreign countries.

Am I wasting my time? Is making money off You Tube a bit of a lottery win? Noticed when I uploaded my latest video that for some reason You Tube have switched off my option to Monetise the videos for some reason.

Find it all a bit confusing at times. Any informed advice would be gratefully received.

Hair

Just been watching the news and see that Prince William proudly confronting his folliclly challenged genetics by doing absolutely **** all about his rapid receding head of hair, which makes him look like a bit of a sex offender.

Luckily (despite looking like a sex offender anyway) i have been blessed with a luscious head of hair, however if in the same position it would have to be a skin head, surely? Or go down the fat granny shagger route and get a shit hair cut surgically installed on your bonce.

What would you do?

Hate the 2017 calendar

Why have they changed it? The out line of the player on a white minimalist background is shite. The normal ones of the players on grass has worked for the last 15 years why change it now? :veryangry:veryangry:veryangry Christmas is ruined so they better get 3 points tomorrow to make up for it and whoever thought this new design should be follow Pardew, and hopefully the new stadium announcer, out the door.

Fat Sam

Dodgy ex-England 'manager' aka knocker-boy takes the reins for the crystal pikeys, how appropriate.
Geezer's got a reputation to try to mend after queering his last pitch.

It should be amusing to see his mass on your sideline.
'Pie arse squared'. Bwaahaha

Your manager is so fat, smaller managers orbit him.
He ties his belt with a boomerang
When he gets his shoes polished, he has to take the shoeshine boy's word for it.
His arse cheeks have separate postal codes.
When he 'hauls ass' he has to make two trips.
When he got lost, the poster went all the way round the telegraph pole.

Lets all celebrate Status Quo

And in GCC.

Down Down would be in my top ten tracks of all time.

School tv programmes that you used to like

samedi 24 décembre 2016

I've done a huge Google search but I'm still no closer to finding the name of this programme.

It was about 2 families. One that owned a factory and another one which was poor that worked there. Out was set pre world war 1 and during. I was so into it at the time and none of us can remember what it was called. This must've been during the mid 80's and I really can't remember the title. I'd love for my step daughter to watch it. Can the good people of the bbs help?

Were there any school programmes that stuck with you?

Rumour: Kone £15m..

Express linking us with kone from Sunderland £15m...

Also states boardroom split over BFS appointment... to be honest the article is terrible.. link to follow

Flamini

It's been a common theme from BFS and parish about tightening and winding the dial back. With our squad there is not many current options in defence so holding midfielders are likely to be the change we see, is this the time for flamini, definitely has the experience ... could he become the difference?

Pardews Legacy

Personally i liked Pardew and its sad that in the end he had to go .

But in the 2 years he was here I cant think of a single player I would call a Pardew "type of player " .

Also I cant think of a Pardew style of football .

And finally if Pardew walked into a new job in the new year I cant think of a single player who would leave us to sign for him.

It's a shame but apart from the cup final (which it could be argued was luck) he has left us we nothing

Rick Parfitt

Dead 😢

'Big Fat Sam'

Can we please stop with this West Ham thing of calling him 'BFS' and just call him Allardyce?

I'm not even a big fan of his but it's just awful. Up there with stuff like 'Manure' instead of Man Utd.

Best palace team since promotion?

Pardew's 2014/15 team where we rose up the leauge in imperious fashion is still to be beaten.

Speroni
Ward Dann Delaney Kelly
Ledley Mcarthur
Zaha Punch Bolasie
Murray

This was the team that beat city, 2-1. Also a very similar team beat liverpool 1-3 in possibly our best performance since promotion. I think, Zaha aside, all the players on that list have since regressed, and the likes of Kelly and Speroni have not yet been convincingly replaced. If BFS can get the likes of Punch,Ward, Dann, Ledley to form we havent seen for a good year at least we have a good chance.

What the US owners do know about football.

vendredi 23 décembre 2016

You're out of a job Alan.

Parish and investers probably started looking into other options after the Swansea game but does any one else think the substitution of F Campbell against Man U was fatally what cost him the job, regardless whether you think it affected the game or not but if we had got a point against Man U, would Pardew still be in charge? His gung ho attitude rather than tightening up for a draw showed he was a risk taker rather than a considered tactician. Sometimes gamblers at the track win a race but often lose, and then bet more. Looking back at Pardew's time I saw alot of risks taken which I admired at the time but in hindsight can see this isnt the level headed approach you need to be a successful manager. He obviously took his chance to have a pop at the other investors and it back fired with his comments after the Southampton game, had we picked up more than one point from those 3 games after he could have had another transfer window and a job? I think so, or do you think Parish and the investors machavellianly were just buying time for Allardyce to be appointed?

Carrie Fisher

"Massive heart attack" on a plane from London to LA.

Doesn't sound too good.

Rumour: Yann M'Vila

This has got us written all over it now - and Sunderland fans seem to think so too (and are gutted about it)

Played brilliantly under BFS at Sunderland.
French International Defensive Midfielder (a position we need!!).
Contract up in 8 days time (31st Dec 16) so will be a free transfer.
Cancelled his move to Sunderland in early December and no-one seems to know why..... about the same time BFS was being linked to the Palace job & sending Dossiers to our owners.

For what it's worth I think he'd be a great free transfer as he is meant to be brilliant on the ball, have superb vision, is 6ft tall and loves a tackle - albeit with a very good disciplinary record......

Sounds perfect for us!!!

Mark Curtis

Assume and hope the board have taken a sensible approach and banned him from the club?

Have The BBC jumped the gun or have the Palace Official Website gone home for Xmas

Nearly 1 hour since BBC broke news yet nothing on Official Palace website.
Are they useless or have they given up and gone home for Christmas?

allardyce will "sort players out"

To quote Keith Millen. I am just a humble supporter but WTF is Keith saying here? Anyone have some credible opinion?
Which players need sorting out and in what way?And why would Sam be able to do what Pardew couldn' t if there is such a problem.
Please advise or my turkey will be spoiled.

Welcome Sam Allardyce

Crystal Palace have appointed former England boss Sam Allardyce as manager on a two-and-a-half-year deal, a day after sacking Alan Pardew.

All the best Big Sam. Your moment to become a Palace legend has arrived.

January Transfers 2017

Since there isn't a topic already, we should probably start with this one:

Quote:

Chelsea agree £52m fee with Shanghai SIPG for transfer of Oscar
• Midfielder will move to Chinese Super League side in January
• Brazil international to earn £400,000 a week in China

Discussion: Allardyce's First Window

So who will he sign? Is Kevin Nolan still registered?

Clattenburg???

Joseph Bulcock's Grave

A friends son is in the Chelsea Acadamy and played in the recent Premier League's Christmas Truce Tournament in Belgium. The event was covered by Match Magazine and the proud dad sent me a picture of his son in action from the mag. Kevin Hicks - 30yr missing appeal

Surprised there has never been a thread on it’s own (but I assume numerous mentions somewhere in the archives).

But 2016 saw the 30th Anniversary of Kevin Hicks going missing. I have always been aware of it – as I lived in Fernhurst Road, just yards away from where Kevin went to buy a pint of milk, or what have you. And he never returned home. Kevin lived in Sissinghurst Road off Blackhorse Lane.

For those who have no idea what or where Sperrings is/was, it’s the site of the now soft play area in Addiscombe on the corner of Fernhurst Road. Opposite the Black Horse pub site. That was once Blckbusters, and before that Sperrings (supermarket /grocery store).

It seems there has been a fresh appeal for information regarding his disappearance recently and they have pieced together enough evidence to indicate that they believe he was murdered the following day. (and seen later that evening on Shirley Road).

Something I never knew existed, was the fact that in 1996, someone contacted the police to tell them where his remains were, but they searched the area and couldn’t find them…

It's always been a little too close to home for me so always aware and always wondered what happened.

The Transition; what now?

jeudi 22 décembre 2016

With Parish's comments about winding our style dial back to being more solid again, I immediately thought back to an article I read on the Beeb earlier in the year. It was an interview with Les Reed regarding the Southampton model, and one of the key quotes for me was around their succession planning and how they identify managerial and player targets in line with unique KPIs and performance metrics that Reed and his team set. In effect they know what they are looking for regardless of who the manager might be, they don't buy in to specific situations but rather base all of their decisions on a core set of club values, and use all of their metrics to assess how individuals fit with those values.

Reed's view was that clubs can be too influenced by managerial crises and lurch from one playing style to the next without ever building a club identity and a balanced squad, and as such somebody to oversee the footballing side of the club (Director of Football if you like) is actually a fundamental part of building long term, continued success.

We have heard from the board that they were up for the transition to a more possession based brand of football...do we think that's truly out of the window now? And going forwards, do people think a DoF would be a good fit for us (disregarding Ian Moody for the time-being) to build long term success as a Premier League club?

Clinton and Phil brown on talksport this morning.

Think it's the breakfast show rather than that twat Jim whites show. I guess brown will comment on possibly BFS being interested or not in Palace job.

Does Allardyce play negative boring football?

I recall an analysis, I think on MOTD, where his formation was 5-3-2 or 5-3-1-1 but really playing 8 defenders.

Did West Ham fans want him out due to his style of football?

Does Allardyce play negative boring football?

Bournemouth (a) Tuesday 31st January 2017

What are the chances of this fixture being changed?

As far as I can workout if ourselves or Bournemouth get to the FA Cup 4th
round and either of the fixtures get moved to the Sunday then the game would get pushed back to Wednesday 1st February?

Could a 4th round cup tie get moved to Monday 30th and take precedence
over a PL fixture? If so when would the PL fixture be moved to? Pushed back to Thursday 2nd and the home game against Sunderland pushed back to Sunday 5th February?

I'm trying to take all possibilities in to consideration whilst booking up a 'Palace Tour' for some of our American supporters that I met on July's tour.

Any thoughts more than welcome.

Thanks

Fan needed for live interview at Selhurst tonight - 6pm

Can anyone can get to Selhurst to do a live interview this evening for the official PL station?

The station airs in over 100 countries with an audience of several hundred million.

I've done it a few times but can't make it this evening - it usually lasts about 2 minutes for the live segment, then around 5 minutes for a recorded version. The whole thing takes about 30 minutes start to finish.

You'll need to get down there for 6pm. It's good fun.

Obviously the topic will be Pardew and who could replace him.

If you can make it give Conor a shout on 07875240707.

New (first) car advice

Hi all, as title says I'm after some advice.

Passed my test last year but now looking for first car as soon as possible really. Anyone got any tips as to what would be a good choice for a first timer and where to get it from?

Looking for something pretty decent in great condition really... Any other considerations that will factor please ask. Budget is more about cheaper insurance than cost of car.

Thanks in advance :p

Give us money, that's what we want.

Just read in the New York edition of the News Shoper, that our American investors have offered BFS ten times more than what he was getting from England, Convert Selhurst into a 150,000 all standing stadium where he can display his dazzling skilful football and give him $99,000,000,000 to spend on Real Madrid and Barcelona's best players.
Also buy the Andrex stadium as a new home for our academy

I just can't understand what some people have got against our Filthy rich American backers.

I say don't allow club membership to anybody who earns under £5,000,000 a year.

Let's make Manure and chelski look like peasants.

20 Years Ago Today,Palace 1 Charlton 0 21.12.96.

Anyone remember this game? After the goal glut of September/October our form had tailed off badly following a 3-0 Thumping of QPR at Selhurst infront of the SKY Cameras on Rememberance Sunday,we were 6 games without a win going into this game,Thankfully a late volley from Niel Shipperley which squirmed through the hands of a fishy sounding Clown keeper by the name of Mike Salmon was enough to secure the win & send us into Christmas in good spirits :p

Unfortunately it was to be our only league victory until a winner from Hoppo secured victory in the reverse clash with QPR at Loftus Road on February 1st! This near 3 month midwinter spell of just 1 win put paid to any hopes of keeping up with Bolton in the hunt for automatic promotion,it also no doubt sowed the seeds of Bassetts departure to Nottingham Forest in late February 1997 & Sir Steve's Ultimate return & ultimately playoff success.:lux:

I do wonder though, how things would've panned out with Bassett,if that poor spell didn't happen,we kept pace with Bolton,Bassett stayed & we won automatic promotion??

It's an interesting thought, that Alternative reality,As opposed to what REALLY happened in 97-98!

*Fantasy* London Orbital Line

Complete fantasy, but I have spent (as you can tell) ages gathering all the relevant information to create a brand new fantasy TfL London Underground network called the London Orbital Line.

Running roughly around the M25 all the way around the outskirts of London it will enable users to avoid Central London for interchanges and cut travelling time drastically.

Starting in the East of the City at Gravesend, going clockwise will take you through Ebbsfleet, Bluewater, Dartford, Sevenoaks, Whyteleafe, a spur to Croydon, Leatherhead, Guildford, event day only services to Twickenham, Heathrow, event day only services to Wembley, Rickmansworth, Hemel Hempstead, South Mimms round to Epping and so on (see the map for all the stops)

It will also have interchanges with the Central, District, HS1, Metropolitan, Northern, Overground, Piccadilly & Queen Elizabeth Lines as well as all major national rail track companies that will improve connectivity to the rest of the country.

Express services will run every 5 minutes stopping at a select number of stops only. All station services will run every 10 minutes, both in the clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.

So now instead of travelling into Central London to get from Croydon to Wembley for Palace in the FA Cup you can just use this service (for example) and be there in under an hour.

Who wants to help bank-roll it with me :hi:

Results against the top 6 won't define our season. Well, actually, they might

I keep hearing people say we were good against United and Chelsea and some people see that as a reason that we will be OK. There is this common view that results against the top 6 (Man U, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea) 'won't define our season'. So defeats to those sides are just written off as expected.

However, let's look at that in reality. Matches against those 6 sides are 12 of our 38 games - so virtually one third of our season - you simply can't write off that many games, turn a blind eye and accept defeat in all those games. We will lose more than we won't, of course, but we could also pick up some very valuable points.

Last season we took 8 points from those 12 fixtures (a win at Liverpool, a win at Chelsea, a draw v Man U and a point at Arsenal). With 8 points fewer, we would have been relegated.

The season before (we finished 10th) and gained 13 points!! Without those 13 points we would have finished on equal points with 18th placed Hull. Depending on the margin of defeats in those games, we may have been relegated, if we only lost them all by 1 goal we would have survived by the skin of our teeth, by 2 goals.

The first season we were up we only got 4 points from those 12 games so the impact would not have been drastic. However, it is still worth remembering that beating Chelsea (who I think were top) was the springboard for our huge improvement which earned survival.

Anyway, my point is that so far this season we have taken 0 points from 5 of these games and if we don't improve our record against the big boys it could well be the difference of staying up and going down. The likes of Burnley have beaten Liverpool, as have Bournemouth, Middlesbrough took a point off Man City, West Ham did from United.

When Sunderland escaped in 13-14 it was precisely victories against the big boys that saved them.

We can't use two plucky home defeats to two big boys as evidence that Pardew is going to turn us around (especially while the other results have remained so poor). We do need to pick up some unexpected points too and against United, Chelsea and not long ago Man City, there were points there for the taking and we blew them all through lapses (and twice very late in the game).

In 1 Calendar Year

Crystal Palace have dropped from 6th in the Premier League to 17th picking up 7 league wins in that time period. However, the thing that intrigues (angers) me the most is that actually we have only beaten 5 sides. In order our victories have been:

Stoke City - Dec. 19th '15
Norwich City - Apr. 9th '16
Stoke City - May 7th '16
Middlesbrough - Sep. 10th '16
Stoke City - Sep. 18th '16
Sunderland - Sep. 24th '16
Southampton - Dec. 3rd '16

All I can say is thank God for the Potteries...

To all in our lovely red and blue family, wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy new year.

Do we need a Millwall/Fulham/Southampton moment?

For Pardew to get the boot?

We've lost frequently but not badly - generally by one goal - throughout this dismal run.

Does it take a three or four goal pasting to see him off?

I'm guessing that Parish is buying the "stats show that we're a mid-table team not getting the results we deserve" line.

Would a thrashing change that?

Pubs for: Arsenal

Any meeting spots planned pre kick off?

Turkey for Christmas

And each year the Mrs and the kids say "How about something different"

We eat beef, chicken, lamb, fish throughout the year and eat Turkey once a year at Christmas.

Christmas is Turkey with all the trimmings and nothing else is going on my table.

Your current 5 most played albums

As befits a man of my age here is my top 5. It's what my son calls 'that ******* hippie crap'. :afro:

Pink Floyd - The Division Bell
Jefferson Airplane - Best of
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - So Far
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
Bob Dylan - Desire

I'm sure you can improve on that.

We are Going to Beat Arsenal at the Emirates

There. I've said it.

Merry Christmas and goodnight.

Suggestion: Jordan Pickford

This kid is only 22 and could already save Anakin from the dark side. After Zaha, he is the best thing shown on MOTD. One for the future is an understatement, this boy will be getting caps before long.

Our fanbase seems to universally unhappy with anyone we have put between the posts. Sunderland supposedly have no funds for their January window so maybe they can be tempted. Make moves before he ends up going somewhere for £20m.

'Fans' should be ashamed of themselves

All the hysteria about the 21st minute walkout but when fans leave on the 40thminute nothing is said. The low and behold, this is when Chelsea score.

As we have seen, 15 out of the 32 goals conceded this season have been in last last few minutes of each half, the time when fans are more interested in filling their stomachs with warm lager and horse meat burgers rather than supporting the football club.

Well done. Proper supporters.

A suggestion.. pardew threads

I can understand this is the popular topic at the time. Not everyone wants to talk about it 24/7 though. Yesterday, a discussion on referees was hijacked by pro/anti pardew arguments.

There are many threads on the subject, and I contribute to them at times when I feel I have something to add to it. But when I go onto for example the ground improvements thread, a referees thread, or a general humour thread, I don't want to be starting another debate about pardew, or having the thread hijacked as such!

Can a work around be discussed that suits all parties (ie constrict all pardew related arguments to pardew threads).

Suggestion: Robert Snodgrass

Looks like he's refusing to sign a new deal at Hull, would bring the creatively we desperately need at a reasonable price.

Discussion: How many will we sign in January 2017

samedi 17 décembre 2016

Well , here we are . Deep in the shit , clueless manager , players that are underperforming , picking up injuries , or just gone missing .
We heard all the shite that we had identified players we were going to sign in 2017 and had put things in place .
We have the chairman keep teasing us about progression , and reminding us how he has smashed the transfer record 3 years in a row ( without mentioning of course that the net spend is very low ).

We had about 14 players leave in the summer , didn't even buy half as many to replace them. The crap about not being able to spend money because either we didn't have any or not allowed to spend it

So how many players do you think we will actually sign ?

New song - We're CPFC

OK I give up what's the words to the newish HF song.

Fitness

I firmly believe that the root of our problems, and in fact all for all of Pardew's teams is a lack of physical and mental fitness. i actually think other than that he is a good manager. He seems to be able to motivate his players well and his tactical issues are mainly due to desperately trying to fix bad runs.

His teams have excellent runs, like ours when he first arrived because he is generally a good manager, plus our team at the time had the benefit of a Pulis pre season, the confidence from the run covers up the deficiencies in fitness, but when things go wrong they don't have that stamina to fall back on to grind out results. Pardew then tries more and more bizarre things to try and turn the run around.

For this season we need to abandon the "transition" and just concentrate on being disciplined, with a rigid formation. Then in the close season we get in a modern day equivalent of John Harbin and get the team properly setup for next year. I think that would make us a top 8 team.

Watford away on Boxing Day...... Troy Deeney to score his 100th goal, against us

.......hes been stuck on 99 for 10 matches so you know it is going to happen!

Are our players a bit too nice?

Noticed a couple of things recently which raise this question.

On Wednesday from Block B, I didn't really get the impression that our players protested much about the Rojas lunge or the handball/offside goal. It wasn't until watching the replays that I saw how clear cut both incidents were.

Today, Costa and (eventually) Kante on yellows. Rile them up, get under them, force a reaction.

OK, the first doesn't change the refs decision and the latter is hardly sporting but it's the nature of the game and all other sides play it.

Is this related to the fact that we seems to lack much on-pitch leadership? Costa's goal came from indecision on Hennessey's & Dann's part - lack of communication, shouting, screaming...being too bloody nice?

Or is it just me.....?

Should the BBS keep taking the cash or let us have another poll

How many games till we are allowed a new poll on Pardew? Two defeats....

Match Updates: Weekend Matches 17/18/19 Dec

West Ham just scored
Swansea folded again
Sunderland 1 up, right on our tail now

Is Benteke too passive

Listening to discussion on sky , they seem to be in agreement that for a big man he is under performing . Yes he doesn't get decent service from us but he isn't aggressive enough and in my opinion just seems a bit slow and lethargic - we have a goalscorer in him but he really needs to up his game .

Craig Pawson sends of Vardy

Two footed tackle, studs up, out-of-control
Sound familiar?
Consistency.....that's all we want:wallbash:

Pessimistic question

IF Pardew stays and we get relegated and He still isn't sacked, would it put you off going to matches?

The Next Three Games - Key for Pardew

This has been said before, i know, however, I do feel like the next 3 games really is 'make or break' for Pardew. 4-6 points collected by Palace, and I feel like Pardew will get a stay of execution, and allowed a bit more time to bring in some more positive 'streaking'.

Maybe he'll have a positive 2017? 2015=good 2016=shit, maybe 2017=back to good? I've heard worst theories, not many mind.

Anyway, any points tally below 4 in the next 3 games, and I think he's gone.

Poll to follow

Transition

Anyone got a clue what this word means? Because I'm pretty perplexed right now...

If we're going to lose anyway, make some money

vendredi 16 décembre 2016

Bet on us losing but both sides scoring

Easy money:D

If we lose today at home .. Pardew must go! Pre match poll.

Yes the team is low on numbers....but that's partly down to Pardew's training over the last few weeks...
Yes Chelsea has the more expensive squad but we all know Pardew's form this year and he shows little sign that he can control his good or bad runs of form...or improve players...
The time is now.......to stay up we need a better manager and need him to have the Christmas window to get a few new faces in...
Pardew is taking us down throwing away our Clubs future! :frown:

Time to make our voices heard..

GET THE LEAFLETS OUT!!

GET THE BANNERS OUT OR I WILL!!

CHANT HIS NAME UNFORGIVINGLY WITHOUT REST BITE AND THROW TONS OF ABUSE AT THE PLAYERS IF NECESSARY!!!

TAKE DRASTIC ACTION TO GET HIM OUT!!!

Referee for tomorrow - Jon Moss

Of 'Old Trafford and multiple other appalling decisions' fame.

Great.

On the plus side we're odds on to lose anyway. May as well get the fat bastard out of the way before some winnable games.

Crystal Ball: Palace V Chelsea

Palace 1 Benteke
Chelsea 2 Costa, Moses

Fan zone

Anyone know when the fanzone is returning for the customers ?
My matchday experience is not what it should be and I am not enjoying the game either.
Also the blonde girl selling burgers was quite attractive

Liverpool v Palace tomorrow (FA Youth Cup)

Bit of a distraction from all the ignominy surrounding the First Team v Chelsea tomorrow.

The powers that be have decided that it is best to play our main fixture of the season at U18 level at a time and place that virtually no Palace fans will be able to make!

The match takes place at Tranmere's Prenton Park at 3pm, Paddy McCarthy has only recently been placed in charge of the Palace U18's.

Not a great season so far - and obviously facing a tough task against a Liverpool team that have one or two players with first team experience too.

Not expecting much, as the Youth are not in great shape just now, but a bit of a stage for names such as Victor Fundi, Kian Flanagan, Jason Lokilo and Francis Baptiste to impress against top opposition.

Our Squad for next month or so ?

With the following injured Mandanda Tomkins Souare Flamini Sako Wickham Remy Appiah Mutch , it only leaves 16 for selection .

Hennessey Speroni
Kelly Ward Delaney Dann Fryers
McArthur Puncheon Ledley Cabaye Townsend Lee Zaha
Benteke Campbell

Have we any youngsters that are anywhere near first team action and where is Williams (injured or on loan ? )

All looking very grim

Giving thanks in 2016

jeudi 15 décembre 2016

I'm tired of being pissed off in 2016 (seriously, my wife is telling me to get a grip, it's just a team) so here are the Palace Things I'm thankful for in 2016:
  • This website - really appreciate all of the work to keep the site up and active for overseas fans as well as you local lads
  • Chris Grierson - a great social media and club personality that has really come into his own
  • Wilf - pleasure to watch even when he's doing crazy stuff on the pitch
  • CPFC Website Videos - some great content on the website. check out the match day video recently posted if you haven't
  • James Mc - love the guy and is instantly recognizable in his hunched over defensive stance

Your turn. Let's keep the positivity going.

Flamini. Any idea why he came off?

Does anyone know if he's injured? I'm presuming he is as he was looking half decent. Shielding and organising.

Christmas family games

I thought Pass the Pigs was genius in its portability/simplicity but has anyone played Dobble?

It's brilliant! And probably great at staving off dementia for a few weeks

Parish's errors of judgement

For all the good Parish has done with the club, it's worth remembering some of his shocking decisions and that he doesn't always get it right. I fear that his faith in Pardew will be his biggest.

Press conference in 2010 announcing plans to move to new stadium in Crystal Palace park within 4 years. Many of us are still waiting for the much promised update on the Selhurst redevelopment that was promised before the start of this season!

Appointing Iain Moody as Sporting Director, who went on to make a habit of leaking every bit of insider info at the club to his friends at The Sun.

Being on the verge of appointing Malky Mackay manager on the advice of Iain Moody.

Showing complacency by talking in the press about the possibilities of European football last season when we were on a good run before Christmas but hadn't even secured top flight status.

Making public the offer of a new contract to Pardew last season despite our horrific run.

Going public on Talk Radio two days after the Southampton game saying that there is 'no way' Pardew's position is under threat.

Being far too close to Pardew - pictures of them socialising in New York show a professional line has been crossed. Can you imagine Pochettino hanging out with Daniel Levy or Bilic with David Gold?

That 'thumbs up' after the Southampton game.

Pushing certain players onto Pardew, namely £55k/week Sako.

Wasting money on sentimental signings - signing Andy Johnson when he was unfit, handing Paddy Mac a new contract when he hadn't kicked a ball in 18 months.

But Parish's biggest error was not getting rid of Pardew in the summer.
We are dropping like a lead balloon to the Championship and the chances of coming back up again will be lower than ever.

Google Cardboard

Just bought a Google Cardboard for £4 on ebay :)

Anyone tried it yet?

Are You a Member of POM?

As this is an open forum and we have heard about the protest, who is a member then? It would be interesting to know.

Reasons why Pardew hasn't been sacked.

I'm bored....not just of Pardew and the current farce at our club, but bored of waiting for him to get sacked. Knowing the BBS there is some comedy gold waiting to be read for why Parish & Co haven't pulled the plug yet.....

So, why hasn't he been sacked yet?

2017 World Darts Championship

The World Championships start tonight running until the final on January 2nd, with the usual breaks on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve.

Schedule and draw: To view the link you have to Register or Login

Gary Anderson starts his defence of the title in the third game tonight, Van Gerwen starts on Saturday night, Taylor on Sunday and Lewis on Monday.

Despite not having the best year I have a feeling that Phil Taylor will win it this time. I think the World Championship will be the one Van Gerwen will always struggle in being done in the set format as he seems to be better in legs.

6 Wins in 41 Games. Defend that.

6 wins (6!) in 41 games. I mean, what the actual ****?

If you got in a goat or a pig or a horse to manage the team, as in literally an animal, and you just sat it there for 41 games and it spent 90 minutes each week grazing on the edge of the Selhurst pitch, you would still reasonably expect it to achieve a better return than 6 wins, just through luck or randomness.

6 wins in 11 and a half months can't be explained away by injuries or poor refs or bad luck, it's a sustained period of abject failure and the fact that the person most responsible for it is still here is astonishing. And even more so the fact that he's somehow managed to avoid pretty much any serious criticism from the mainstream press. Can you imagine if Alan Pardew's name was actually Pepe Mel or Felix Magath and he'd taken us on this run? He'd would have been absolutely slaughtered a long time ago.

Pack your bags, Al. The Championship awaits you and we're staying here.

F***ing Man U

Why do we ALWAYS get shit results against them? I knew they would score a winner. Our record against them is worse than any other team I think.

Two finals, two semi-finals, loads of league games. They made me cry when I was 12 in the FA cup final. And the cup final this year not only did they break my heart again (and my dad and cousin and uncle), they didn't even seem to care that they had won and booed their manager.

My only consolation is that when Cantona got sent off and the draw against them cost them the league.

But I have an irrational rage against them. It dipped a bit after that bastard Ferguson left. But Mourinho is nearly as much of a tosser.

At least they haven't won the league for a while and don't look like they will this season.

Rant over.

JD Sports

So it seems JD sports are being rumbled for having a warehouse that is Sports Direct-esque in terms of working conditions. Now I know the club (and to be fair the majority of football teams) aren't particularly concerned with the morality of some of our sponsors (e.g. gambling, alcohol, those awful ******* watches) but will / should we severe our ties with our stadium sponsors given what is coming to light?

Discuss.

A plea to all palace fans in the 21st minute on Saturday

Due to our shocking form over the past 12 months, the fans need to make their feelings known.

So, as leader of the fans group, the POM (Pardew Out Mob) we will be walking out en masse on the 21st minute against Chelsea.

21 signals the amount of league defeats in 2016 and our last home fixture of the calendar year we will be making our feelings clear and ask any proper Palace fan to join us and do the same.

Leaflets will be distributed in the pubs and concourses from 11.30am on Saturday.

Thank You

Sainsbury's Car Park Problem

Hi All,

I had to start this forum as I'm so annoyed from last night, and was wondering if anyone else had the same issue?

We always drive to Palace and park in the Sainsbury's car park as my Dad has dementia and now is in a wheel chair. We got there last night at 6.15pm (1hr 45mins before kick off) and the stewards refused us entry and said we were too late!

I explained my Dad's situation and even showed them the wheel chair in the back of my car, they didn't give a t**s and wouldn't let us in.

We then drove around for ages trying to find a space in the surrounding streets and then had to give up and go home and watch it on BT Sport.

Two things:

1) We have been parking in Sainsbury's for over 15 years and NEVER had this problem before, especially when you get there 1hr 45mins before kick off

2) We are long standing season ticket holders and couldn't see our team play and we have already paid for the game!

I have been supporting this club for over 35 years and my poor Dad has been for over 70 years, to say we are upset is an understatement!

Worst Underperformance in Palace History

Everyone here knows the stats, I think in 2016 it's now played 35 and picked up 26 points (0.74 points per game). But I cannot ever remember a time where the team was this good and we were this shit. The seasons we fought relegation was due to us being shit and the seasons where we either stayed in the Prem or got promoted were because of massive overachievement. This underperformance is the worst in 30 years of supporting Palace and as far as I am aware unprecedented in our history.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Man Utd (home)

Man Utd were poor but still dominated the game. We were commited but there was no energy or conviction in the team. We created very little and posed very little threat.

As usual there were a number of odd decisions by Pardew:

Why play our best player out of position when he had been playing so well. We had no width and Man utd found it easy.

Why did Flamini start over Ledely? Why was he subject to one of Pardew's trade mark half time subs? Were injuries involved?

Why put Fryers on? For Width? If that was an issue at 80 minutes it wa an issue at the start of the game. Did it coincide with putting Zaha back on the wing?

If that's the case, and we had gone back to 451 (to see out the game) why change it 5 minutes later by putting a Striker on for a Midfielder?

Why is the manager experimenting with formations after 2 seasons and 4 transfer windows?

Why was our bench absent of any player that could come on and defend the point? Why was our squad left so under resourced in left sided players?

Had enough

Al Al **** off Al
Al Al **** off Al
Al Al **** off Al
**** off Alan Pardew!!!!

Fighting in the Holmesdale

Towards the end of the game 2 separate fights broke out when some fans started singing 'Pardew Out' and others started boo-ing them
A night to forget

What was the worst decision of the day then?

Close one?

Super Alan Pardew

Come on Palace family, keep the faith and back the CPFC legend that is SUPA AL :lux:

We're lucky to have such a talented, humble and tactically genius man in charge of our team so let's make some noise for the boys on Saturday!

Super Alan Pardew's Red & Blue Army! COYP! EEAAGGLLEESS :lux:

Gary Rowett?

Gary Rowett anyone?

It's all about you, it's all about youuuuuuu

F*CK OFF ALAN PARDEW, IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU!!

Dancing like a c*nt at Wembley cos he brought on puncheon

Thumbs up to the board after a flukey first win in six against a lacklustre Southampton performance.

Sub fuvk up after sub fuc k up.... sako left back against city
MacArthur off at hull, concede 2 in 5 minutes
2 minutes left tonight and he takes him off and goes 442
F*ck off we needed fresh legs..... that sub confuses the whole team in the last couple of minutes and the confusion leads to a United winner.... I can't even express how ****ed off and angry I am.... city & united have both been shit but have both taken maximum points at selhurst because of our tosser of a manager

When away fans in the home end get chucked out...

...do they actually get chucked out of the stadium or just moved into the away end?

Lots of wankers in the AW as usual, hopefully the idiots that leapt up to celebrate after the first goal got slung out on their arses and whoever sold them their tickets banned.

I'm so angry.

The club I love is being torn apart by the vanity of Pardew. This is so painful.

Just what the **** does he think he's doing taking off Jimmy Mc and putting on a waste of space up front, when what was needed was ten men behind the ball. His vanity has hurt all us Palace fans AGAIN.

Please Steve Parish - just f u c k i n g SACK HIM. NOW.

:veryangry :veryangry :veryangry:wallbash::jerkit:

Selhurst light show

Interesting

I thought it looked quite good :moo:

Are we the most tolerant fans ever ?

I can't imagine other clubs being this tolerant of our current run, either because of the manager's performance or guidance. Are we too forgiving as a club, either through our owners or fans ?

I know the BBS doesn't necessarily represent the fans who go week in, week out.....but why do we vocally seem to just accept our fate, and seem resigned to see this pass before our collective eyes ?

Trouble in Block A/B

Huge fight in A/B after the second goal. I know there are differences of opinion but to see grown men fighting like that and hurting many innocent people in the process is ridiculous. :veryangry

Has Pardew fallen out with Townsend?

Strange seeing Fryers play at left midfield for us to send Campbell on for McArthur. The substitutions killed a bit off the game of for us as we constricted ourselves to just using Wilf again as our only outlet.

Can only assume Townsend not coming on is down to him and Pardew falling out?

Act NOW

No more he is my mate he will keep us up give him till the next game etc etc SACK HIM NOW or give him a job in the club shop ffs but DO SOMETHING

The World is Watching

I'm sure a brainiac will confirm this, but surely this is the first time we have appeared live on the telly box 4 times in a row?

It's horrible to think of us having our pants pulled down for the world to see, as it's more than conceivable that we could lose all of them!

I'm just thinking back as to when we first appeared live?

An FA Cup game with Forest, late 80's?

I remember the ZDS cup ties were on the Sky Channel (pre Sky Sports in 89/90)

Then of course the Semi and Finals

Although I was there, the first top flight game I recall was the 1990/91 home game with Liverpool on Itv (Lineker was summariser for ITV)

With the advent of the satellite boom, and the championship being shown live, we must have appeared in circa 100 live games in the last 25 years?

Lowlights for me would be

The Arsenal league cup semi final home game 1-3
Wigan Away 0-5
Wimbledon Away 0-4
Wimbledon Home 0-3
Sheff Utd Away when we were dicked by an appalling ref

Any other notable times, when, if you weren't at the game you wanted to put your fist through the tv?

Eagles aftershave/perfume

I've just had an email advertising this. Has anyone tried it? What on earth does it smell like?

Why so few shots/goals from distance?

So many Palace goals this season have been from close range - in fact, other than Townsend's against Stoke, I'm struggling to remember anything from outside the 18-yard box. Why don't our players shoot more from further out? Is it a sign of low confidence? Lack of ability? Or something else?

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for anything that goes in the opposition net. ;) But I'm a bit mystified by the apparent reluctance to hit long-range screamers.

Gary Rowett sacked by Birmingham...

Bit harsh - won last night.

3 points off of third.

Support bands that sucked

I saw Genesis on the Invisible Touch tour 1987 at Wemberlee stadium.

Supporting was the hugely popular Paul Young. The crowd had been prepping itself an hour beforehand.
As Mr Young took to the stage and his band struck-up, hundreds of plastic bottles of pi$$ were thrown onto the stage.

"If you keep doing that, I'm going to walk off!", threatened Paul Young to the crowd.

There followed an avalanche of bottles of pi$$ being thrown at him,.....and Paul Young carried on. Some people just don't get subtle hints :jerkit: :D
