Parish's errors of judgement

jeudi 15 décembre 2016

For all the good Parish has done with the club, it's worth remembering some of his shocking decisions and that he doesn't always get it right. I fear that his faith in Pardew will be his biggest.

Press conference in 2010 announcing plans to move to new stadium in Crystal Palace park within 4 years. Many of us are still waiting for the much promised update on the Selhurst redevelopment that was promised before the start of this season!

Appointing Iain Moody as Sporting Director, who went on to make a habit of leaking every bit of insider info at the club to his friends at The Sun.

Being on the verge of appointing Malky Mackay manager on the advice of Iain Moody.

Showing complacency by talking in the press about the possibilities of European football last season when we were on a good run before Christmas but hadn't even secured top flight status.

Making public the offer of a new contract to Pardew last season despite our horrific run.

Going public on Talk Radio two days after the Southampton game saying that there is 'no way' Pardew's position is under threat.

Being far too close to Pardew - pictures of them socialising in New York show a professional line has been crossed. Can you imagine Pochettino hanging out with Daniel Levy or Bilic with David Gold?

That 'thumbs up' after the Southampton game.

Pushing certain players onto Pardew, namely £55k/week Sako.

Wasting money on sentimental signings - signing Andy Johnson when he was unfit, handing Paddy Mac a new contract when he hadn't kicked a ball in 18 months.

But Parish's biggest error was not getting rid of Pardew in the summer.
We are dropping like a lead balloon to the Championship and the chances of coming back up again will be lower than ever.
