SAM ALLARDYCE is keeping a close eye on Kieran Gibbs contract situation at Arsenal.
Big Sam needs a left-back at Crystal Palace and Gibbs has emerged as a target with just 18 months left on his current deal at the Emirates.
Gibbs was on Palaces radar before Allardyce landed the job to succeed Alan Pardew at Selhurst Park.
And they could make a move when the January transfer window opens next month, with Arsene Wenger aware his player value will drop as his contract runs down.
Wenger is set to weigh up whether he needs Gibbs for a title challenge as the England full-back is behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order.
Gibbs started in the 1-0 victory over West Brom on Boxing Day but suffered a kick to the knee, according to Wenger, and was forced off after banging knees with Claudio Jacob.
After the match Wenger said: Its a kick. I dont know how bad it is, but its a kick on the knee.
Swansea have also shown interest in Gibbs, although staying in London and Premier League safety looking more likely with Allardyce in charge could make Palace a more attractive proposition.
Should Wenger decide to keep Gibbs in the squad, it would increase the pressure on thrashing out a new deal before entering the last season of his current terms.
