Do we have one? I had a search, surprised I couldn't see one.
Thought maybe we'd like a place for all things parenting related, the ups and downs, the celebrations and the woes, the rants and the boasts.
As for me we have one kiddo, a little boy, just turned 9 months last week. He's a pandemic kid that doesn't understand that it's normal to walk around outside without a mask.
He's just starting to get the hang of standing up with support and loves doing it. Today, I positioned him standing up at the coffee table, pulled my cup of tea a little closer and then sat down on the floor by him. In the half second it took me to get down, he reached across (further than I thought he could) and grabbed the rim of my tea mug dipping his fingers in. I heard him scream and instantly pulled his hand out. He was crying like I've not heard before. An hour later we're at the pediatrician, kiddo with blistered fingers, being told he has second degree burns and and we need to go to the burns unit at the hospital tomorrow to get him checked out by a specialist. I feel terrible.
I know he's going to be alright, but he relies on us (me) to guide him through life and I feel I failed him. He's now comfortably sleeping, hand dressed with a sports sock over the top. Definitely not feeling like I'm excelling at dadding today.
I am however excited to come back to this thread with happier news in the future, like taking him to Selhurst for the first time.
