Should you leave your PC on 24/7 or just fire it up as needed then shut it down when done?
I've been doing the later ever since I've had a computer, but starting to think leaving on 24/7 would be less frustrating. Many times a lot of background "stuff" seems to happen when I turn it on slowing the damn thing to a halt.
Looking at various settings it would seem a lot of updates and back-ups would happen in the middle of the night is the PC was left on.
I guess I'm old school where anything electrical had to be turned off when not in use (goes back to putting shillings in the meter under the stairs).
What is the wisdom of the BBS say on the subject?
