Flight delay compensation

Apologies if there’s another thread but couldn’t find one.

My daughter has just endured a 22 hour delay to her flight back from Tenerife to Manchester. Obviously going to be claiming compo.

Just interested in any tips and hints re doing this. Seems pretty straight forward but always worth enquiring with the great minds of the BBS (WCB and SC need not reply).

Flight operator was Jet2 and reason given for the delay was simply ‘operational reasons’. Sounds like they simply didn’t have enough planes for whatever reason.

They had around 6 hours waiting at the airport on Thursday evening and we’re told various times of scheduled departure which never came to fruition and the flight was officially cancelled around midnight. They were taken to various hotels and eventually got to their rooms for the night around 2am. Collected at 3pm next day to be taken back to the airport but without any detail of what time flights out would be. Eventually left at 8pm on a flight scheduled to leave at 6.45pm. Landed 12.10am this morning.

If anyone had had similar experiences and then claimed compo, I’d be grateful for any hints, tips etc.
