I am a Season Ticket (ST) holder Holmesdale Upper tier, supporter for 50 years and have read all the various posts and statements relating to the singing section. Whilst my sympathy lies predominantly with those in the Holmesdale Lower Tier (HLT) and the club I understand the benefits of having a singing section. I do however feel the Holmesdale Fanatics (HF) proposal is flawed and put forward the following proposal which addresses the concerns of those in the HLT. This could be put to the club if the feedback is favourable:-
1. ASAP CPFC announce that from season 2019/2020 the HLT will be a designated singing section.
2. CPFC announce that by 31.01.2019 all ST holders (except those in HLT) must either
a) Renew and pay for their ST
OR
b) Release their ST and register for the Singing Section HLT.
Many fans wait to see if we avoid relegation before renewing which together with those who have vacated their seats to join the singing section will ensure there is a large amount of good seats available throughout the ground.
3. Feb / March 2019 ST holders in the HLT are provided with the opportunity to either:
a) Register for the singing section
OR
b) Offered the opportunity to pick and move to the seats now available elsewhere in the ground.
c) If they decide to relocate away from the HLT they are offered a 20% discount on their ST to compensate them for moving (this is paid from interest received by the club as a result of the early ST sales, therefore no financial loss to the club).
d) If they are unable to find a seats suitable they are offered the opportunity to stay in their current seats or a seat of their choice in HLT on the understanding that the HLT is now a singing section and it is likely to be more raucous and people may stand for long periods.
4. April / May 2019 seats in HLT are allocated along the lines of the HF proposal namely long term ST holders / loyalty points or those that show a preference for sitting in a particular block (not everyone will want to be centrally based). It is important at this stage that those who want to sit together have made the club aware.
5. June-August remaining seats throughout the ground released, initially to ST holders who did not renew in January and then to new ST holders.
This would provide a satisfactory outcome for all those affected.
If agreed between CPFC and the HF, the HF could return to their original seats this season pending implementation. The 35 fans who have purchased ST would be asked to move to seats of their choice of available seats this season and provided with compensation (£100?).
For next season offered
1. Opportunity to renew their current ST at 20% discount in January
2. Register and obtain a seat in the HLT (no discount).
