Discussion: Best ever Palace transfer rumour

Signing Diego Maradona and Gazza are the two that spring to mind.

The post World Cup 1994 Kennet Andersson saga was both beautiful and tragic.

174:

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Fenerbahçe, farewell to a star due to the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rule. The former Yellow-Lacivertlists, who previously made names such as Nani and Kjaer to create a transfer source, sat in front of Crystal Palace, one of the Premier League teams for Josef de Souza.

Because of the offer to Josef de Souza in the club only, Sporting Director Damien Comolli, who asked Phillip Cocu for approval to sell this player, decided to sell Josef and buy a striker and a stopper for the money he would come from.

Fenerbahçe , farewell to a star due to the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rule. Yellow-Lacivertlés, who previously made names such as Nani and Kjaer in favor of creating a transfer source, sat down at the Crystal Palace , one of the Premier League teams for Josef de Souza .

After convincing the Dutch teacher , Damien Comolli, who started negotiations with Crystal Palace, the only club that asked for Josef, made a big deal with the English team. Fenerbahçe's door has been opened to 15 million euros, it is learned that the transfer will be officially announced in the coming days.

Who is posting as CPFC2010

This was originally intended to be any one of the four - was mainly Steve B with some from Steve P. Until a couple of days ago that seems to have been the case.

However the post about the spare ST's in block B in the Holmesdale doesn't look like either of their styles and read like an advert from the marketing department. Can any mod clarify if CPFC2010 sign in has now been extended to club employees as well for future reference?

Pubs for: Fulham

dimanche 29 juillet 2018

What pub will the majority of Palace fans be drinking at? Always a great day on the river.

Suggested Team and Formation For: Fulham (away)

13 days to go. Sounds like the incoming signings will be inferior to what we already have in the squad, so we can get going with the XI and just keep a couple of spaces on the bench. With that in mind, let's go:

------------------------Hennessey------------------------------
AWB---------Tomkins-------------Sakho----------------PVA
Andros------Milivojevic-----------McArthur-----------Schlupp
--------------Wickham-------------Zaha------------------------

Subs:

Guaita (needs to improve his English)
Ward
Riedewald
Joniesta
Benteke

Man bags - are they acceptable?

I’m not sure if there’re a thread on this already, can’t find one but got a sneaky suspicion I’ve read something on here...

Anyway, since I’ve recently had to purchase reading glasses I find myself leaving the house with the following:

Car keys
Phone
Wallet
Sun glasses
Reading glasses
Something else

Too much stuff to fit in my pockets.

Is a man bag ever acceptable?

Bet365 Live Streaming (football)

I've noticed recently that when you click the 'Live Streaming' link on Bet365, some football matches won't play, the screen is blank. All other sports play and most football matches do, it's just a minority. For example, Austrian league games this afternoon, e.g. Salzburg v Linz. Games like this will play on the player at the top right of the betting screen, but not on the larger 'Live Streaming' player.

Anyone else had this? Any ideas for a fix?

Any suggestions for a UK long weekend for my girlfriend and I? Driving distance from SE London with as little driving as possible otherwise (long walks not minded). We have already been to Bath, Cambridge and Brighton so somewhere new would be good!!

Rear View Cameras (Autos)

samedi 28 juillet 2018

Anybody have a vehicle with them?

After driving for 40+ years and looking every which way when reversing, I'm having trouble with these new fangled reversing cameras in a new vehicle.

What are you supposed to do... focus on the screen and not look behind you or in your mirrors?

It is taking a huge leap of faith on my part.

I need a second opinion - so am asking the BBS where I am sure to get one (or 2 or 3 etc., etc...)

supporters display for Liverpool

hi lads, gonna try and be positive under the circumstances , like most I think the most important thing is to keep going what the young lads have started , I aint saying we can replicate it but I have just retired from 25 years of service to a young palace supporters club palace guard and I do understand the core quality of what they have achieved so my proposition is this , I sit in row 20 of block b and enjoy the atmosphere , I need a group of supporters to assist me with a proposed display for the first game , many of you know me from the guards and some members of the HF used to play at the guards, if your interested in helping out for the display to show unity and togetherness regardless of the HF circumstances please PM me and I am gonna arrange a meet prior to the first game display, we are gonna do our very best to keep this alive UNTIL circumstances improve for the HF, I don't need to be shot down , I am a fan like you lot , I am not Pro or negative anything when it comes to support , if we can get enough in the group we can then discuss ways forward and maybe the HF can sort out their differences and take over again but IMO I don't want to stand around and do nothing, the very reason I done 25 years voluntary work for the club was to promote and increase support from the younger lads , this is a way forward not a replacement , keep the displays and try to maintain some of the atmosphere with a bit of togetherness , at the back of block b there's loads of lads that will support I would imagine, block b always has been the most vocal , I am not a club rep nor am I suggesting this on behalf of the club, I will set up a funding page for the display if enough are gonna help , again this is not a alternative to HF , its not a rival group , it is supporters that want to help maintain some of the good work that the HF have done from their existing seats , id like to hear some positive feedback on a display for the team first game if anyone's interested rather than moaning about current rights and wrongs, all we need is to start simple and grow it, I understand we may not be side by side in the block but if enough get going together we can generate enough noise as we always have , I am gutted the HF wont be there I really am , I have enjoyed it but we need to unite as a Stand , who's with me for the display?

A unique opportunity to move to Lower Holmesdale Block B

A Unique Opportunity to move your season ticket to Lower Holmesdale Block B

CPFC has been advised by the Holmesdale Fanatics that they will no longer be present as an organised group at the front of block B of the Lower Holmesdale stand.

The club would like to thank the HF for their fantastic, vibrant and passionate support - especially the brilliant displays at Selhurst Park and their outstanding contribution to the 2013 and 2017 Wembley finals.

In collaboration with the group, the Box Office has always held back 100 seats at the front of block B for exclusive use by HF members. As all Palace fans know, this is the most vibrant, passionate and noisy part of the stadium but it has previously been impossible for other supporters to purchase season tickets in this “singing section”.

We now have a unique opportunity to offer these seats in the front rows of Lower Holmesdale Block B to vocal supporters who currently have season tickets in other blocks (or further back in Block B) and who would now like to move to this area.

We expect demand to be extremely high so supporters who are interested in moving to the front of Block B are asked to email the Box Office immediately with their details quoting “Block B” in the subject box.

Furthermore, the club is very keen for the tradition of flags, banners and drums to continue in the block. If any supporters are interested in this they should e-mail Sharon.lacey@cpfc.co.uk who will be happy to put them in touch with each other and assist in getting approval from the stadium manager and safety officials.

CPFC DSA (Crystal Palace FC Disabled Supporters Association)

I have been elected to the CPFC DSA committee as Social Media Officer

Please if any of Palace's disabled fans or their carers have any suggestions or views on issues related to disabled fans at Selhurst Park or at away games can they post them on this thread.

The CPFC DSA was set up at the request of the club to give disabled Palace fans a specialist group to liaise with CPFC over matters involving the matchday experience of disabled fans at Palace matches.

Our patron is Palace legend Julian Speroni who kindly attends our annual Social event which was held last night at Selhurst Park.
Also in attendance last night was Danny who is the CPFC Player Liaison Officer as well as their Kit Man

The CPFC DSA has now been going for two years and any disabled Palace fan or their carer can join the group for free.

The group circulates a regular newsletter updating our members on issues that they have raised or changes made and being made to improve the disabled facilities at Selhurst Park and in the close season once again there have been many improvements to the disabled facilities within the ground.

(Mods please can I ask that this Official thread is pinned)

And a great character, a really funny guy.

Convection / Conduction vaporising ...

Anyone use these?

Just ordered a Storz & Bickel Mighty. I'm hoping it lasts longer than my more recent purchases.

First I bought years ago was the Arizer Solo, which I must admit was wonderful, and is still going, although the tech has developed a lot and it now seems old and overly chunky.

Next I tried out the V2 Pro Series 7. It was OK, got very hot when vaping though and with no replaceable battery died a death after about 6 months.

Onto the Arizer Extreme Q. Which is, I must admit, wonderful but not at all portable - a desktop vape. So whilst I still use this (with the balloons mostly) I was back in the market for a portable very quickly.

Onto the Xvape Fog. Marvellous in everything except it broke the mouthpiece within 2 weeks of owning. No return available as damage my fault apparently. My first portable convection vape - amazing flavours!

Which is why I've now gone for the Mighty. Its a convection vape, portable-ish, loads of batter power, and the final thing that got me, with a fast draw, not restricted like all the other portables including the Firefly2 and the Davinci IQ/Miqro which I was also looking at. Its on order and on its way. Shall sample tomorrow evening.

So, have I bought right? Anyone with any tips / experiences?

I seem to have forgotten my password or username to access the Gallery and edit a picture text I put in there...

I was horrified to see this today and amazed it isnt already receiving comment. I have to say though and here I hesitate to go where angels fear to tread but were it thought to have racial or political motivations more might have commented rather like the farright mp murder threat thread. Still it is a vicious attack and I hope any found guilty go down for life whatever their reasons

THREE for ****s sake

Roma kids taken from home

Just watching a BBC programme about the systematic taking away of Roma children from their parents in Hungary.

It’s horrific on so many levels. The raids of police in riot gear smashing down doors and ripping babies out of their mums hands, the horrendous poverty of the Roma communities, the abuse in the care homes they are sent to.

This is a far right government in action.

Countdown to Brexit 2019 thread .

The current Brexit thread is stale to say the least so I thought a less agressive and constructive thread thread should be started .
I myself am happy to let Brexit happen in roughly 248 days and engulf the changes come what may .

P.S , I will not be we contributing to the debate as I am happy with the referendum result and the Tory Government and Labours oppositions pledge to honour Brexit .
I don't accept the remoaners have a valid argument but that is my sole opinion .

In the interests of fair play and reasoned argument I will not be posting until March 2019 and hope the staunch remoaners and brexiteers will do the same in the interests of democracy .
The silent majority should have there say on this thread unopposed IMO .

Will this coming football season be the last?

Well? Will it?

Your personal examples of a catch-22 situation

Brexit and its complexities, particular over the Irish border, had me thinking of other apparently impossible situations to resolve.

When I was a member of Shrewsbury Men's Hockey there was an attempt to merge with the women's hockey club.

A meeting was held to vote on the issue. An advocate of not merging raised an objection as soon as the meeting commenced, arguing that the meeting was unconstitutional as many members of the club had not been informed of it.

As passions on both sides were really high, this caused lots of arguing before the chairman suggested that the only way to resolve things was to have a vote on whether the meeting was unconstitutional or not.

That idea ended when it was pointed out that it if the meeting was unconstitutional then the vote to determine whether the meeting was unconstitutional or not, was in itself unconstitutional.

:)

Suggestion: Lazar Markovic

Bindippers have not used him wisely. Could be a real option if RLC beyond us. Good AM. Price will be a factor and we’ve been screwed on past deals buying from them.

Jairo Riedewald or James McArthur?

The likelihood due to the paucity of money flowing around Selhurst is no new signings. So, who would you choose to be Luka Milivojevic's partner, assuming we don't bring in another centre mid?

Suggestion: Marko Grujic

22 years old, Liverpool would be open to an offer. Extremely good in the air, decent in the tackle and at intercepting. Would know Luka from the national side. A potential replacement for Cabaye?

Rumour: Jack Butland

Guess I will create it...
Assume its BS given our keeper situation

SSN:

Quote:

Stoke's Jack Butland is among Chelsea's list of potential new goalkeepers should Thibaut Courtois leave the club this summer, according to Sky sources.

The England goalkeeper, who played backup to Jordan Pickford at the World Cup, is believed to be available at the right price this summer - but Stoke believe he is worth the same money that Pickford joined Everton for, around £30m.

Leicester, whose own No 1 Kasper Schmeichel is understood to be another Chelsea target, are also thought to be keen on Butland along with Crystal Palace, but Butland is keen to join a top-six Premier League club.

Router help

I have a Huawei router from TalkTalk that seems to lose wireless connection to all devices (2 x ps4's 2 x fire tablet 2 x galaxy tabs) in my house bar mine and my wife's phones (sam galaxy s6's) and a google mini.

I've rung them (3 times over the weekend)and they say that they do a channel change from there end which does seem to bring back connection only for it to drop out within a few hours, I also perform the channel change through routers browser plus soft and hard resets but to no avail.

I'm just wondering if anybody else has had an issue like this?

Fulham Away tickets in 'neutral zone'

Thought I'd post this as separate thread title.

You can get 2 tickets per Fulham season membership (£40) by logging onto To view the link you have to Register or Login

At time of last looking (about an hour ago) there were approx.

200 tickets left in the neutral blocks P2 & P1. On the basis that there are still tickets left in the home areas, I assume that most of neutral blocks have been sold to Palace. bit pricey but still cheaper than ticket trading/stub sites that want about £200 per pair

Suggestion: Vincent Janssen

He actually has a pretty good history in leagues and internationally. I know he didn't get any kind of performance at spurs but he was against Kane for a place. What if we could get him on the cheap or even loan? I'd take the gamble, give him some love and see. Could probably do better than 2017/18 Benteke...

Good afternoon all

Just a quick reminder of the same fixture again next Saturday. The last was a huge success with many first team players in attendance. Rumour has it, that it will be the same again this time round.

The pub is still standing (just). It has now officially been sold to a developer but agreements have been made in order for the possibility of another smaller pub being built on the site and funding dependant. Long story...

Please make it if you can and support both CPFC and pub. Thanks

Bath or shower?

I know that we have discussed this a few times before, To view the link you have to Register or Login, but I am interested to know how many of you prefer a bath to a shower (and vice versa).

I have had a bath almost every day since I was a boy and only shower at the gym. I enjoy lingering in the bath, reading my Kindle or doing a sudoku, and just relaxing.

Yes, I know that showers are far more environmentally friendly than a bath and probably more healthy (the argument about stewing in your own juices), but I would hate to abandon my morning bath and simply shower instead.

I think I am probably in a small minority in this - so how many of you share my preference?

Palace Are Much Better Than You Think

Palace's current form is :

9 games unbeaten
Scored 25
Conceded 8
18 games unbeaten with Tomkins/Sakho centre back partnership
Only lost 1 of our last 20 games against teams below 7th place in the Premier League.

Why so much negativity as if it is not broken why fix it.

Palace are much better than you think and those stunning stats prove that Roy Hodgson now has Palace playing attractive attacking football, scoring for fun and solid at the back.

Looking forward to silencing more doubters next season.

The 1960s-1970s Hippy Trail - now a complete Horror Show

Unbelievably for those youngsters on here who dream of packing off from Mum and Dad or ditching the office routine to go travelling the world, once upon a time, that was a readily available choice - many called it the 'Hippy Trail'.

It was based on a fairly widespread acceptance of hitch-hiking, easy-going camp sites, hostels and even just being invited to stay and bed the night with complete strangers.

The main routes from the UK were ferry to France, then hitch down to Spain, pssibly via Pamplona and/or Barcelona, maybe a diversion to the Balearics which were almost uninhabited, and onwards south, across the Straits of Gibraltar to Nirvana itself, Morocco, espeically Marrakesh.

By the 1970s, this route had fallen out of favour. Francoist clampdowns in Spain and mega-tourist develpment meant hippies were no longer welcome, whilst the beginnings of a clampdown on drugs, espeically hashish, meant Morocco was not so friendly either - towards hippes.

So it was the really long-haul south-eastern route that beckoned. Again you got acros to France on a ferry and stuck your thumb out aiming for Yugoslavia usually via Austria. Trains were cheap, and plentiful and quite easily fare-dodged. Just pretend you couldn't speak the lingo.

Everything was cash. No phones, No cards. No computers. Poste Restante for vital top-ups of TCs - the currency of the Hippy Trail - Travellers' Cheques - insured money - if lost or stolen then instantly refunded.

You wended your way through the Balkans, taking in some Adriatic islands like Hvar, Korcula and Mljet, again almost completely non-tourist, only Yugoslavs. Wonderful wonderful places.

The first mega-destination was Athens, where of course you paid homage to the classical forefathers of western civilisation whilst sleeping on some hostel roof in Plaka, at the foot of the Pathenon, for a few drachmas a night.

Next stop, real adventure: Istanbul. Here was the Terminal of the (real) Magic Bus. Painted yellow and starting from Istanbul, Magic Buses offered cheap and easy rides to all points east.

You would bed down somewhere in the Sultan Ahmet district, get some dope, blow some cash on food, supplies, visas perhaps, check out your Post restante in the hope of some more TCs from Mum and Dad, send a few postcards, and negotiate your ticket to ride.

Firm favourite as a first stop was Tehran - yes, Istanbul to Tehran for maybe a fiver, no sweat.

Some went to Israel to do Kibbutz for a while. Some just stayed in Turkey and went back eventually.

But for many the Trail was only just starting so off you went to Tehran, a teeming, booming, hustling city which was the gateway to the seriously mysterious East, the East the Hippy dreamt of, alternative life values, karma, nirvana, peace, love, no money, no work, drugs, heaven on Earth.

And so the Magic Bus would start off once more - to Kabul!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, you read it right, Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, the epicentre of hippydom.

Tens of thousands of Scandinavians, Germans, Brits, all west European countries really, saw armies of young people, perhaps two-thirds men, arrive by bus in Kabul, with a rucksack, a straggly beard, and a clutch of TCs, looking for dope, smack, a hut to stay in and some music and vibes.

Again, Kabul lent itself to this bizarre pilgrimage. No harm was done. The place was stable enough. It was utterly unspoilt, beautiful and totally out of the world experience of western Europeans. Of course, the underlying poverty and feudality of the place was the real reason people bartered goods, offered incredible hospitality as a duty, and did not obstruct these strange westerners.

From Kabul, most headed to Nepal - Kathmandu - to get the Buddhist fix. And thence, at last down the Himalayan plateau to Thailand, which was so unspoilt that for a while it truly was a Paradise on Earth, not the chasm of shyte it has become today.

The other route from Kabul was south to India, whilst there was an Iran-India route as well. The Magic Bus itineraries must be collectors' items now.

There is hardly an inch of the old Trail which is not now a war zone hellhole of death, brutality and savagery, oppression, and cruelty.

It would almost be an incredible challenge for anyone to actually try and do the old Hippy Trail today.

Today's travellers have absolutely no idea of what a glorious time they have missed, what amazing days, unbelievably all gone in a few decades of humna development - ruined, destroyed, gone.

Match Updates: Lyon v Fulham (friendly)

Not really sure if the match deserves a thread of its own but here it is.

Lyon : Gorgelin - Dubois, Marcelo (c), Morel, Mendy - Caqueret, Ferri, Diop - Ndiaye, Depay, Traoré.

Fulham : Bettinelli, Christie, Odoi, Ream, Le Marchand, Cairney, Seri, Johansen, Kamara, Fonte, R.Sessegnon

The Balkan Tinderbox - ready for ignition again?

Reading up on recent disturbing noises from the Balkans, do you think it might all kick off again with a butterfly wing event similar to the Sarajevo assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in 1914?

Greece and (the former Yugoslav republic of) Macedonia, which is shortened to FYROM, have just about cobbled together a complex deal which allows for FYROM to join NATO.

After decades of obstruction, Greece has accepted FYROM can change its name to North Macedonia. This is extremely contentious stuff in Balkanology. The land of Alexander the Great is forever in Greece, as far as the Greeks are concerned, NOT some non-Greek place next door which might harbour Albanian-style ambitions to create a 'greater' Macedonia.

Citizens of FYROM, which was indeed once a federal republic inside Titoist Yugoslavia, called Macedonia, but NOT an independent State, understandably don't like the description FYROM. The majority Macedonians amongst them want an unambiguous 'Macedonia'. Minority ethnic populations of Albanians, Bulgars, Serbs, and Greeks, keep a wary eye on how 'nationalist' this urge might be. Ethnicity and nationalism in the Balkans has led to extreme disaster and bloodshed on massive scales.

Now the Skopje government is to hold a Referendum - a "consultative" plebisicite, please note, EU Remoaners. FYROM voters are to be asked if they want to join NATO and the EU, in which case they have to support the name change to 'North Macedonia'.

Because if they don't, Greece will block their NATO and EU membership applications. But Greece is relatively happy with North Macedonia so it supports Skopje's Referendum.

Step in Moscow and possibly Belgrade. The Russians have been up to their 'electoral meddling' trickery in little FYROM, to whip up a rejection vote of 'No' to NATO, 'No' to the EU and 'No' the the name change.

This has upset the Greeks big-time, and they've booted out a few Russian diplomats. This from a country which did NOT boot out any Russian diplomats in solidarity with the UK over Salisbury.

Outraged the Greeks have impugned their dignity and reputation, the Russians, traditionally solid friends of fellow Orthodox Greece, have abruptly cancelled an official visit to their Hellenic cousins by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Meanwhile an earthquake's tremor away in tiny Montenegro, another former Yugoslav republic, Russia not only stands accused of an attempted coup d'etat in 2016, but playing up worries that Montenegro's recent NATO membership is meaningless - after US President Trump agreed on US TV that he could see no point in sending any US military to risk their lives in defence of Montenegro. "Would you send your son to die for Montenegro," Trump was asked on Fox TV, to which he replied straightforwardly enough: "No".

Russia was strongly opposed, as was Serbia, to Montenegro joining NATO in 2016, hence the coup d'etat plot in Podgorica (formerly Titograd), as Russia is against anyone joining NATO.

But we have to ask ourselves as NATO members too - would we really lay down our lives to defend a piece of land in Kotor, or Lake Ochrid? Why is NATO so keen to expand into these sorts of territories? Why does the EU keep wanting to expand into these sorts of places?

It is little short of miraculous that there has been so little turbulence since the end of the Kosovo conflict in the Balkans. Has peace and love entered the bloodstream of Balkans peoples, or is a slow burning furnace beginning to heat up?

Is the hatred of 1930s and 1940s approaching?

Not sure whether this is too dramatic or not. Around the globe there is some hope and progressive movements in some countries is bigger than the far right.

But everywhere you look there is a rise in authoritarianism and far right, racist and fascist politics.

Trump, Brexit, Syria, Egypt, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Germany, France, Israel, China, Colombia. The list could go on and on.

And we haven’t hit the next recession yet, which in my view will make 2008 look like small fry as there isn’t the capacity to bail it out.

I’m still hopeful, but also fearful.

Connecting two monitors to one latpop

I'm a complete novice when it comes to this sort of thing, so I'm hoping someone can either help or tell me that what I'm trying to do isn't possible.

I have a laptop with only one HDMI input. I currently have one monitor connected to my laptop via this port. Each screen displays a different output i.e. I have emails on one screen and company software loaded on the other.

I would like to add a second monitor and have three different output displays (two monitors either side of my laptop). Being that I only have one HDMI input I can't connect the second monitor to my laptop in the same way. I tried a USB-C to HDMI converter, but the monitor received no signal at all.

I have looked at HDMI splitters, but believe the display would just be duplicated rather than allowing me to have three different displays.

The only other ports I have are standard USB. The laptop is an HP Envy x360.

Is it possible to connect two monitors and have three different displays, or am I limited to just one monitor being connected?

Liverpool splashing the cash

Interesting seeing Liverpools spending this summer.

The past 2 seasons they have made very minor slight profits in the transfer market and 2 seasons ago posted £40m profit.

However this summer they look set to take their spending to £175m with teh signing of Allison, which will put significant pressure on both PL and UEFA FFP rules i would have thought.

Cannot see how they cannot have to shift significant players out now or hamstring themselves in the market for the next couple of years.

Development Squad Pay Their Respects in Ypres

Good to see this from the club

To view the link you have to Register or Login

During their pre-season training camp in Belgium, Palace’s under-23 squad paid their respects to those soldiers who fell in battle at Ypres in World War I.

Richard Shaw’s Professional Development League South winners began their preparations for the 2018/19 campaign by visiting the Belgian National Football Centre in Tublize last week where they used the excellent facilities to put in some hard graft ahead of their pre-season friendlies in the home of the World Cup bronze medallists.

During their stay in the region, the squad visited Ypres and attended landmarks such as the Menin Gate, Tyne Cot Cemetery – the largest WWI cemetery - and Duchy Farm Cemetery, where a local guide provided the players and staff with detailed background to what they were visiting, describing the sheer scale of the war, the brutality of the conflict and the sacrifices seen.

At Duchy Farm the team laid a wreath at the grave of Jimmy Speirs, a footballer who played in the 1911 FA Cup final for Bradford City against Newcastle United, a game staged at the Crystal Palace. He would score the winning goal in the replay at Old Trafford but when football was suspended at the end of the 1914/15 season due to the outbreak of the Great War, Speirs volunteered his services.

He fought and was wounded in the Battle of the Somme in September 1916, but after returning to the conflict he was tragically killed in Flanders, Belgium in the Third Battle of Ypres - the infamous Battle of Passchendaele.

Shaw’s squad’s productive and poignant five-day trip came to an end last Friday, setting them up nicely for the season’s kick-off next month, while also handing them a reminder of the sacrifices made by their contemporaries over a century again

Danny Welbeck and David Ospina may be on their way out of Arsenal as the Gunners look to trim their squad, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Arsenal have already spent around £70m this summer under new manager Unai Emery, and with Welbeck in the last year of his contract, the forward could be first to depart.

Bernd Leno's arrival from Bayer Leverkusen also suggests Ospina will leave, with Petr Cech more likely to battle for the No 1 spot at the Emirates.

Russian woman charged with acting as Kremlin agent, 'infiltrating organizations'

lundi 16 juillet 2018

To view the link you have to Register or Login

A Russian woman living in D.C. has been charged for conspiring to work for the Russian government by establishing relationships and infiltrating organizations that have influence in U.S. politics, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Monday.

Federal authorities on Sunday arrested Maria Butina, a 29-year-old Russian citizen, and charged her “with conspiracy to act as an agent of the Russian Federation within the United States without prior notification to the Attorney General,” according to a DOJ press release.

The DOJ alleges that Butina acted with “the purpose of advancing the interests of the Russian Federation” at the direction a “high-level” Russian official.

“The court filings detail the Russian official’s and Butina’s efforts for Butina to act as an agent of Russia inside the United States by developing relationships with U.S. persons and infiltrating organizations having influence in American politics, for the purpose of advancing the interests of the Russian Federation,” the press release notes, citing the affidavit in support of the complaint.

“Butina worked at the direction of a high-level official in the Russian government who was previously a member of the legislature of the Russian Federation and later became a top official at the Russian Central Bank,” the DOJ says, noting she did this work from as early as 2015 until at least February 2017.

Earlier this year, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee claimed that they had obtained documents that suggest Russia used the National Rifle Association (NRA) “to secretly fund Mr. Trump’s campaign.” Butina was named in the panel's preliminary findings.

The Democrats identified Butina and Alexander Torshin, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Russia, as two people of particular interest. Butina worked as an assistant to Torshin.

The DOJ press release alleges that Butina continued to work for this Russian official, who was sanctioned by the Treasury Department in April.

Butina is being held after appearing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday.

The charge comes just hours after President Trump cast doubt on Russia's involvement in election meddling during the 2016 election, an astonishing remark that came as he stood beside Russian President Vladimir Putin at a press conference in Helsinki.

“He just said it’s not Russia,” Trump said, repeating Putin’s denials of involvement in the 2016 presidential election. “I will say this, I don’t see any reason why it would be.”

The remarks, made on a world stage, created a wave of astonishment that reverberated globally.

Members of the president's own party, who are usually reluctant to criticize Trump, fiercely rebuked his decision to side with the Kremlin leader over his own intelligence community, which has overwhelmingly concluded that Russia sought to meddle in the 2016 election.

The conclusions of the investigations led by the Senate and House Intelligence committees also support these findings.

The joint press conference with Putin comes just days after special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers in the 2016 hacking of the Democratic National Committee on Friday.

All 12 of the defendants are members of the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence agency.

Could be a good signing. Seems to have fallen out of love with the game. Still very talented in my opinion. Could Roy get him back to where he Was? Reduced wages, free and a box to box midfielder we need.

Thoughts?

West Ham suddenly rich?

dimanche 15 juillet 2018

West Ham seem to be throwing money around like it's going out of fashion this summer and that's just in the transfers they've completed. So many other reports from major news outlets of other large bids that have not been accepted or are yet to be completed.

Have I missed something? When did West Ham get so rich? Is this all a by-product of the move to the Olympic Stadium?

Rumour: Jack Grealish

Some bloke on Twitter who I have never heard called Glauber Berty reckons Grealish is coming to us for £18m.

I’m sure it’s rubbish but still thought it’s a rumour and a new player for people to talk about!

Didn’t see much of him last year but from before I was never that impressed and just think he needs to pull his socks up!

(He also mentions we are trying to sell a player for £20m that isn’t zaha to pay for Grealish and another. Possibly Antonio?)

Glaziers / stephenson / players lounges

If I buy tickets for the Toulouse friendly in either of these areas of the main stand , does it give you access to the lounges?
Probably a stupid question but my season ticket’s always been in the Holmesdale so never thought about it previously.

Suggestion: Phil Foden - Man City

Considering it's gonna be tough to get Loftus-Cheek back on loan is it maybe worth taking a look at Phil Foden from Man City as an option for a season long loan if they want him to get playing time. Could be another good fit for us.

If only England had chosen Wilf

What.A.Huge.Mistake.

England would have been more potent at WC.

Lucky us for having him fresh and fit for the season ahead.

Opposition defenders who are useless against Palace.

There are certain players who always seem to score against Palace (e.g. Defoe, Toure)

After realising last week Harry Maguire has played four times against Palace in the past two seasons and conceded 15 goals (7 with Hull, 8 with Leicester) are there any other defenders (or goalies) with shocking defensive records against us?

Rumour: Ollie Watkins

Two souces linking the Brentford forward with us today.

Watched him a bit last season and looks very talented with plenty of potential.

They may want a ridiculous fee...

Suggestion: Isaac Hayden

Handed in a transfer request at Newcastle. Decent squad player improving and could be on the cheap.

Bring through the U23s

Pre season is critical this year. We’ve lost YC,RLC, TFM, BS and fringe players and added only Guaita.

Joniesta has to deliver this year or sadly be sold. Staying injury free is critical. Same for Wickham and Dann once recovered. Punch has recovered but may be past his best. That is why Jach, KaiKai, Kirby and Lokilo are being tested by RH. Shame Dreher is a long term injury casualty as I think he has what it takes at PL level.

We’ve sorted keepers, FBs now. Midfield is where we need to improve plus a new fit striker. Sorloth gets full pre season and I hope provides a big pleasant surprise next season.

If funds are tight under FFP then our youngsters need testing. This is a BIG year for CPFC to see if we can bed in one or two of our own into our squad which is not too bad having been trimmed.

Just need Mutch’s contract to expire next June and that will have cleared the decks from the Pardew/Allardyce spendfest.

Any signings?

Seems a bit bare on the transfer front for you lot. Assume ya'll happy with the fully fit lot you didn't have last season? I would be.

I wouldn't want Juventus coughing up what Parish will be asking for Zaha though. That could change things.

Bothered?

Rumour: Diego Laxalt

We were linked before the World Cup to him before, but I couldn't find a thread so...

The excellent world played by the outside of Genoa with his Uruguay has contributed to increase its international appeal, with the boy finished in the crosshairs of the clubs of all the major European championships. To the well-known interests of Benfica, Galatasaray, Crystal Palace and Olympique Marsiglia, in addition to those of many protagonists of our Serie A, from Torino to Atalanta passing through Fiorentina, Rome and Lazio, are now added those of Valencia and several German teams.

The current edition of Repubblica, in its pages dedicated to the Genoese sport, reports the desire of at least three companies of the Bundesliga to win the performance of the 25-year-old from Montevideo. Wolfsburg, Schalke 04 and Stuttgart would be in contention. A competition that makes Enrico Preziosi smile, convinced to considerably raise the price of his jewel tag. The 15 million claimed by the Joker a month ago are no longer enough. To leave Laxalt, the Griffin is now ready to request no less than 20 million.

Peer to Peer lending, in particular Funding Circle

Does anyone have any experience of this?
I'm looking to get a somewhat better return on some of my savings, not easy at the moment!

Discussion: Mixed Messages ?

Just reading comments by RH . While talking about Sako , he said that he has made it clear to SP and DF what he wants and its up to them to try and deliver - depending on funds . RH said as a minimum he would want to replace Cabaye and RLC and would like 1 or 2 more as our squad is very light .
In reality we have lost Cabaye,RLC,Sako,Delaney, Lee since end of season .
Seems a bit at odds with SP who said we already have a strong squad ? Maybe I am reading too much into this but it appears that SP has indicated to Roy that funds will be low .

Suggestion: Jake Cooper

jeudi 12 juillet 2018

The 23 year old center half at Millwall, being linked with Rangers for £3M. In an area where I feel we need cover I think this would be a good option. He's at an age where he'll develop quite significantly as a center half, and in today's market if he shows any sign of promise he'll be worth quadruple that or more in a few years.

Millwall has the fifth best defensive record last season with a pretty poor keeper too. I think having Tomkins and Sakho mentoring him will also be good for his development. With Sakho and Tomkins history with injuries and Danns' most recent knock I think this is fairly important personally.

I think this is the type of signing we should be making now as opposed to throwing £20M+ on someone in a few years.

Thoughts?

Email with BT

Last few days I am struggling to get into my emails . After a while it says btmail is loading . On the rare occasion I get any further , I try to open the mail and it says trying to load data - then 9 /10 says connection lost . The other thing I noticed when doing a speed test - it says the download is fine 50Mbps but the upload is virtually zero . Any ideas ?

NB/ Seem to access other sites ok and just watched the Palace friendly .

Rumour: Payet

Been hanging out on a mates yacht in Marseille. Strong vibes here that payet wants a move back to the prem and that we are one of interested clubs.

Fantasy Premier League BBS league 18/19

existing players from last season will of course be automatically added.

Best of luck!

At some point in the future would fans like to see Gareth Southgate as Palace manager

I certainly wouldn't despite his success in Russia he is limited tactically .

How much do you care about England compared to Palace?

mercredi 11 juillet 2018

Inspired by posts on the match thread. Well?

Palace Ladies

Breaking tomorrow that the CPFC ladies have won their appeal and will be in the ladies championship :lux:

Red&Blue news tweeted earlier but were asked to take it down.

stadium approval

When will Kahn give decision on stadium approval, anyone know timescale.

South London and Proud

Is it time to restore this advertising campaign with a picture of Chris Coleman managing Wales to the European semi-finals and Gareth Southgate managing England to World Semi/Cup final/winners (wherever they end up...….)

We could use it to entice great players to Palace who want to think of their careers after playing, it also bodes well for midfielder General McArthur for his coaching badge and future career as Scottish Manager.

Especially as they can be mentored by Ex-English Coach and Manager supreme - Roy Hodgson.

3rd / 4th Place Game

Personal belief is that this is potentially the most pointless game in football.

Its like saying to 2 teams 'hey ... yes your hearts are broken not making it to the biggest final in football, but wanna play a game anyway for no reason?'

Should be scrapped in my eyes and let the players who were so close to their greatest day just head home.

Lord Carrington dies

There's a certain irony that a politician who is probably most famous for an honourable resignation, should pass away the day after Boris resigns for pure self-interest.

Should we be making a move?

Scandinavian tour

I've seen the squad mentioned in passing but no thread for the tour other than the travel one. The squad list is below. Lokilo, Kirby, Innis and Kaikai all make it. No Lumeka. Sako not there but wasn't expected to be fit yet. Dann is there though but presumably a bit closer to being fit.

Which retail shop do you miss the most ?

Swansea apparently prepared to let him go either on a permanent or a loan.

Worth a shout? Especially on loan with an option to buy?

Would suit if we have a limited budget and would be a different type forward to what we already have.

world Cup Semi final : Croatia v England , discussion

England v Sweden was like a premier side taking on a lower championship side , we bossed it without getting out of second gear but Croatia will be a whole new level with players like Modric (R Madrid ) Racitic (Barca) Mandzukic (juve) Kovacic (R Madrid )
Pericic (Inter) all top players at very big clubs , will their midfield be too strong for us ? Or will our 3/5 at the back prove too hard for them to brake down ?
Croatias midfield took Argentina apart and for me this is where the game will be decided , how should we approach the game to combat their midfield ?

World Cup Final in New York

I’ll be in New York for the WC Final. Any ex pats got a suggestion for a good bar or pub to watch it at?

Spain appoint Luis Enrique as new head coach

I must admit I am slightly surprised, given how many Club jobs he has been linked to. Weirdly though Fernando Hierro wasn't given his old job back and has been replaced by ex Atletico Madrid and Deportivo goalkeeper José Molina as the Technical Director (whatever that role even entails?).

Thankfully means Marchena stays at Sevilla as he was heavily linked to the TD role having only just gone to Sevilla before the World Cup in a restructured backroom set up.

Pride and Prejudice

Anyone else following the extraordinary spat between factions at the Pride march?

Seems there's a lesbian/feminist group called 'get the L out' who are viewed as trans-phobic among the greater LGBTQ community. 'Get the L Out' want to remove lesbians from the LGBTQ set-up (hence the name)

IN a statement, Get the L Out said "The GBT community today, by supporting the rights of males who "identify as lesbians" (also called "transwomen") over the rights of lesbians to choose their sexual partners (on the basis of their sex, not how they "identify") is in fact enforcing heterosexuality on lesbians."

Blimey. They really, really dont like anything with a p3nis, do they?

Facebook to stream every premier league game in 2019

dimanche 8 juillet 2018

Facebook has agreed a £200million deal to exclusively broadcast Premier League matches in four Asian countries from next year.

It represents a major breakthrough for the social media behemoth after they saw off competition from television networks BeIn Sports and Fox Sports Asia in the auction for broadcast rights to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

The deal will commence at the beginning of the 2019-20 season and run until 2022 and means Facebook will livestream all 380 Premier League matches in those countries.

Help please: have you seen Phil Huffer?

Hello all

Many of you will know Phil Huffer, who is a fantastically loyal Palace fan and all round lovely bloke. Phil left his home in Hayes, Kent yesterday afternoon and has not returned. The police and his friends are looking for him. He has been under a lot of stress recently and we’re very concerned for his safety.

He was last seen in Hayes about 4pm yesterday wearing green shorts and a blue or green t-shirt.

We hope the Palace family can help. If you’ve seen him or see him please email me on tonymatthews61@icloud.com

Vancouver for semi-final

samedi 7 juillet 2018

Can anyone recommend a good child-friendly sports bar in Vancouver for the England semi-final 1100am on Wednesday?

Diving

Is it time to bring in a new penalty card for diving, say a blue card where if one gets penalised 3 times during a game they get sent off.

Diving really is putting off people that have a slight interest in the game from becoming ardent followers of the game. It's the biggest issue non-followers have of football

It's become a real problem and something needs to be done. So hence a suggestion of a blue card.

What do you reckon?

Great to see the Swedish v England game was totally free of this problem, so it's obviously not an instinctive part of the game... yet, but it's in danger of becoming so IMO.

Please stop logging me out!

Fow a while now I can't seem to stay logged in on the BBS. Multiple devices, browsers etc keep logging me out every minute or so. Can't even login at all using my phone browser (Chrome) any more.

I assume I am the only person suffering from this as nobody else seems to be moaning??

Watching the game funnies

Any funny quotes, behaviour or celebrations - let's hear or see them.

Quote from the wife: 'I'm worried that suicdes in Sweden' will go up. Hopefully not.

Match Updates: Russia v Croatia

Quarter Final

The winner will face England in the second Semi Final.

Kick off 19:00
Live on ITV

At Fisht Stadium, Sochi

Suggestion: Daniel Arzani

Arzani was the youngest player at this World Cup. Plays in the A-League but will almost certainly be moving to a European team next season. Stood out with 3 lively performances off the bench. Considered Australia's best prospect since Harry Kewell (who in spite of all the injuries, was very good) Will likely have significant interest from other teams though.

Just saw that Man City are likely to battle it out with Juventus for his signature. But could still be a loan option similar to Aaron Mooy going to Huddersfield.

Suggestion: Wahbi Khazri

Not much value in this market for quality CAM's. Khazri might fit the bill, wages should not be an issue, probably around 50k pw, no idea on signing fee, 12-15 mil?

New car / small SUV

Right, I'm due a new car. Been looking at small SUV's and have concluded that the BMW X1 or the Volvo XC40 is what I'm after.

I have an aversion to Volvo's though, and despite every review telling me the Volvo is the better car, I'm still not sure. Also apparently the BMW is a bouncy ride, which I'm really not into.

So ... BBS, what do you lot think?

Rumour: Yann M'Vila

A few sources claiming us and Fulham are interested in him. He would be the perfect Cabaye replacement in my eyes, very good defensively but also good on the ball too. He's shown during his time at Sunderland he fits the bill perfectly at this level.

I read somewhere recently RH will have limited transfer funds

If that is the case then apart from any refreshing/improvements to a squad that heavily flirted with relegation until the very end of the season, surely we need significant funds to replace Cabaye and probably RLC, both midfield starters last season?

Best Man Speech Advice

So will be acting as best man for the first time at my best mates wedding next month over in Singapore.

I won't know 90% of the people there and from the sounds of it most of them won't be the kind of people me I tend to be used to hanging around with! In other words, being too risque is probably not a good idea.

I have to admit having been so confident and writing several versions I am now really struggling. It's very difficult to be interesting, funny and yet audience appropriate at the same time - especially when you don't really know it!

I've trawled through the net and watched plenty of video's but thought I would turn to the BBS.

Any words of advice or nuggets people can recommend? Inoffensive but funny wedding related jokes are particularly welcome...

Match Updates: Uruguay v France

Okay, looks like a dullsfest on the cards.

Interesting comment from Greizemann that Uruguay are like Atletico - boring, divers and in the face of the ref! I hope something was lost in translation. To view the link you have to Register or Login

Anyway, despite the buck toothed wanker up front, come on the magnificent Uruguay, amazing for such a small population

Over 275,000 sign petition for Colombia v England WC match to be replayed!

Not sure why I’m surprised, but I noticed this report - which for non Spanish readers, basically it is to lobby FIFA to replay the Colombia match as their fair minded and unbiased fans feel they were robbed as Kane fell after a ‘non existent’ foul for the penalty in the second half of normal time and that Bacda had a goal unnecessarily disallowed because they feel the referee should have ignored the flag because two balls were on the pitch.

Erstwhile footballing deity Diego ‘Handball’ Maradona has stuck up for his South American chums by claiming the decisions were ‘monumental theft’.

Insurance rip offs

jeudi 5 juillet 2018

In the last 4 years I've made 2 insurance claims, the first on my house insurance and at the moment have an on going motor insurance claim.

With both claims I have had nothing but hassle and hitting brick walls although with the house insurance claim it worked out fine in the end.

At present I am having major problems with my car claim. In a nutshell a woman stuck her car in reverse without looking and reversed into my car. Had witnesses and everything went smoothly to begin with. The car was still drivable and we were about to go on holiday so my insurance company delayed starting the claim til after our holiday.

On our return we were told by my insurance company Hastings direct that an accident management company called auxillis would deal with the claim. They sent a local garage to assess the damage. I pointed out to the assessor that the air conditioning, which was working perfectly before the accident had stopped working straight afterwards. At the time the car was 22 months old. The assessor said there were signs of corrosion on the air conditioning condenser but the accident was probably a contributing factor.

Auxillis gave us a courtesy car and ours went in for repair. It was delivered back to us last week on the hottest day scotlands ever had. The air conditioning was not working. I phoned the garage and the owner said that although he felt the third party was responsible they were refusing to admit liability for it saying it was caused by corrosion (the cars only fecking 22 months old ffs). I have spent the whole week arguing with my insurance company and auxillis telling them that although I was not at fault with the accident my car is not up to the spec it was before the accident.

I have taken it to the main dealer who are going to test it in 2 weeks but from looking at it they say that the corrosion is normal and because it is obvious the car has been involved in an accident it will not be covered under warranty. Hopefully they will write me a satisfactory report to send to the insurers but if they still refuse then u have the hassle of going to the small claims court.

Why should I have to be doing all this? If the third party insurance hadn't been so crooked and tight it woukd probably have cost an extra 300 quid. I've been made to feel like an insurance fraud when I'm totally innocent.

Any advice woukd be appreciated. I've contacted the ombudsman who are writing them a letter although I don't know what clout they have. I've also asked for auxillis complaints department to get involved which I've been told they are investigating.

I just think it's so wrong the way these companies are conducting themselves with little or no redress.

Discussion: Arsenal player sales

It's being reported Emery wants to sell players within their squad to fund other targets. There's a few decent talented players around the fringes of the first team squad, Holding and Maitland-Niles being two I think would be good additions for us.

Happy 70th Birthday NHS

A modern fairytale and a footballing dilemma

mercredi 4 juillet 2018

The Genie and the Brass Lantern

I was walking down the road and spotted something glinting out of the corner of my eye, I bent down to pick it up and it was a dusty metallic object. I gave it a rub to polish it up a bit and all of a sudden a genie appeared from it.

“Congratulations” said the genie, “you have been selected to take part in the trial of a new project from the Magic Lantern Genie Company. As you are probably aware, for many years we have been offering a premium product where you are granted three wishes of your choice, but we hoping to introduce a new budget service which we have code named EasyJeanie (our marketing people are still working on the brand name)”

“Oh yes” says I, “tell me more, what does this involve?”

“Well, instead of the traditional three wishes you will only be given one, and instead of being a wish of your choice it is one of our choosing, but we will give you two options from which to choose”

“Okay” I said with some doubt in my mind “what wish will you be offering me?”

“I understand that you like football” said the genie “so your options are, either England win the World Cup or your club team can win one game of your choice next season”.

“Just one game for my club, versus England winning the World Cup? Doesn’t seem like a fair choice, is that it?”

“Yes, just one game” said the genie “but it will be the game of your choice, and you can make your choice at any point in the season. Even retrospectively, right up until an hour after the very last match of the season”

“So If Palace are in a relegation spot, a couple of points below 17th place, I can choose for one of the six pointers that we lost to have the result overturned to keep us up? Or if a similar change of results mean that Palace will be in Europe next season?”

“Yes” said the genie

“Would it count for cup games too”, I asked “if, for example, we got to the FA Cup final and lost, could I invoke the wish then?”

“Of course, even if it was against Brighton”

So, having heard this fairytale, what would you do in my position? Club or country?
