Before a ball was kicked Hull were relegation certainties, Burnley likely candidates and Sunderland tipped to struggle.
The current bottom 3 are Stoke, Sunderland and Southampton and the two above them are West Ham and current Champions Leicester.
Almost every team (bar Southampton) seems to have strengthened over the summer and despite Hull's off the field travails the first 11 of each of the promoted teams seems pretty strong to me.
Still far too early in the season to draw any sort of firm conclusion about any club's ability or form but I see the relegation fight this year going right to the wire and involving far more clubs than previously the norm.
I genuinely can't see any team being cut adrift although I would love to see West Brom go down and West Ham to at least continue to struggle.
Could the likes of Leicester, West Ham, Southampton and Stoke really be threatened by relegation?
