Here we are, January and comfortably sitting inside the Top 10 of the PL in our third season here, no realistic fear of relegation, big infrastructure investment arriving, all things looking generally good and only a handful of poor performances all season, yet on here you would believe that almost every single player on our books is sh*te and needs to be replaced as a matter of urgency before we plunge into oblivion (or conversely have to change to allow us rise to the Champs League places immediately)
Since we got AP in place and things settled down (and maybe longer) you can count on one hand the members of our 25 man squad who don't get regularly slated by some set of posters or another. Probably the only ones to escape are Dann, Delaney, Bolasie, and maybe Cabaye & McArthur (although they have their critics too). Hennessy may have crept into the list now but all the rest are regularly slated and called either useless signings or not good enough for our new elevated position. It really has got rather sad and boring. This is not just criticisms of specific match performances (which is perfectly right) but persistent negativity about the basic squad that has secured us three seasons and almost certainly a 4th in this league.
Sure, players decline and fade over time and will move on, but since promotion there has been a consistent stream of criticism of virtually every purchase (even Dann was a waste of money when he arrived) with no respect given to the management of the club in the decisions they made and the fact that we are where we are due to the players getting slagged off.
Sure, this is a discussion board, players get discussed, but in the years I have been on here I have never seen such a tedious set of Player XXX is crap and should be sold threads and posts. I pity the next youngster who breaks through, be it Gray, Kai Kai or whoever as they will probably get one half of one match to prove they are the new Ronaldo before the BBS consigns them to the bin.
It really has gone beyond sad now.
