Rumour: Romain Thomas

lundi 4 janvier 2016

Probably a load of old cobblers but anyway, here's a report on Romain Thomas.

Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City have been linked with Romain Thomas.

According to a report in Telefoot, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion have joined Stoke City in monitoring the progress of Angers defender Romain Thomas.

The 27-year-old has been one of the team’s outstanding players this season as the newly-promoted club have taken most by surprise to challenge at the top of the table.

Thomas has featured 18 times for the minnows this season, helping the team keep a number of impressive clean sheets and concede as few as 11 league goals.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, his superb performances have attracted the interest of Stoke City as the Potters also eye up his fellow team-mate Cheikh N’Doye.

And now French publication Telefoot, via Get French Football News, cite Palace and West Brom as two more suitors, with the Premier League duo keen to exploit the under-rated French market in order to strike a potential bargain.

Thomas’s rise up the ranks has been extremely noteworthy considering he was playing semi-professional football for the Angers B team only two seasons ago.

It has been a somewhat fairy-tale ride for Angers but their success will now have repercussions as a number of English clubs look to prise away their crown jewels.

Thomas stands at six feet and four inches and is predominantly a centre-back, averaging 4.4 effective clearances, 1.7 interceptions and 1.3 tackles per Ligue 1 encounter.

The Baggies and Palace both prefer to have tall centre-backs, making Thomas an ideal January option.
