I'm a fan of stats to an extent, within context. They can be useful as one part of evidence only.
For instance the stat discussed on Palace pods about goals scored with Wickham in the team isn't helpful in context, considering 5 of the goals were vs Newcastle, which destroys the sample, which is a small sample. Also many other factors are not included.
However, Ozil's assists are useful as it means I have to recognise that he contributes more than I thought, although I am still not convinced.
With this in mind here are some interesting stats on the Prem which include Palace players:

Punch makes sense as he's been poor. Was surprised Adam was so high, but then I guess players like these will have low %s as they shoot so often, but on the other hand too many players are scared to shoot and when Punch is on it lifts the crowd and team when he's challenging the keeper (last season).
Was surprised by McArthur as well as Lukaka. McArthur's stat doesn't look great due to his role, but we know he's had a good season.
Interesting starting points for discussion though.
If you like such debates, please check out my podcast here: To view the link you have to Register or Login which is very much a similar approach to debate. Recent pod includes using stats to debate whether we look back in history with too much respect in football, by analysing Zola & Zidane's record and discussing whether in this day and age with the OTT coverage they'd be less rated
