1. Gareth Barry is a Brighton Legend. Gareth spent 2 years as a trainee at Brighton between 1995-97, before moving to Villa, still as a trainee. He has gone on to make 53 appearances for England, and almost 600 League appearances, none of which were for Brighton.
2. Liam Brady is a Brighton Legend. "Chippy", a flamboyant star for Arsenal and Juve in the late 70s and 80s rocked up to ailing Brighton as a manager after an unsuccessful spell as manager at Celtic. Under his stewardship they managed mostly lower mid table positions in the third tier. He was involved in a failed consortium aiming to take control of the club. Brady later returned to Arsenal in a backroom capacity.
3. Lewis Dunk is a destined for greatness. No he isn't, he is dirty, and shit.
4. Buckley is better than Zaha. How did that work out for you lads?
5. Brighton have won a major trophy. Back in 1910, the Charity Shield (now known to us all as the Community Shield, was a match played between the League Champions and the Southern League Champions. Brighton beat Villa 1-0 in this fixture. It is known as one of the longest running friendly fixtures in this country, and nobody gives a shit about it, other than the worthy causes who benefit from the monies raised.
6. Brighton have "played" in the Premier League, back in the 1980s. No, it was called the First Division, and all you stattos will know it was also part of the football league. The Premier League was initially created by the FA, and Brighton have never played in it.
7. Brighton are a "sleeping giant". Well, if spending many decades in the lower divisions, and having boasted of a 4 year stint in the old first division is among your greatest achievements, perhaps you should have spent more time awake in the first place.
8. Brighton have one of the finest academies in Europe. Really? Well by all accounts it looks very nice, but the new Messi has yet to be identified. Even Youth Cup glory has so far eluded our South Coast friends.
9. Palace players not good enough for Brighton's first team. An oversight, in my humble opinion. Perhaps if you had players of this quality you may have enjoyed more success.
10. CMS is better than Glen Murray. After leaving Brighton on a free, CMS, now 31, is plying his trade for Luton Town. Murray now a year older, at 32 recently joined Premier League Bournemouth for a reported fee of £5M.
