Buying tickets for abroad sporting events

Has anyone used ticketmaster.com to buy tickets for stuff in the States?

I bought NY Knicks tickets last night but when I go online it still shows the seats as available. I did it by phoning up Ticketmaster as it wouldn't let me do it online.

Anybody else been through the same?
