Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Players Autographs

Evening all,

Apologies if there is already a thread on this - I couldn't see one.

I have managed to bag myself a signed Palace ball recently and and it has 18 signatures on it. I can work out 11 as the player has put thier squad number next to their signature but I'd really like to work out the other 7.

Does anyone have an autogragh sheet with the players squad numbers so I can try and match them up?

Thanks in advance.

Financial fair play / our transfer plans

Does anyone know the likely impact of financial fair play on our transfer plans in January?
The were rumours that Murray needed to go before the season started etc...
Do players need to go before more come in? Thoughts welcome!

Bolton to go into Administration?

They haven't played their players wages for November.

Is this the start of there venture into Administration?

Filmed after their appearance at JD Croydon on Thursday.

As with the To view the link you have to Register or Login in August, I'm on the questions. JD Football get me involved whenever there's time with Palace players, which is a result.
There will be more videos with the club on their channel across the season. Four or five Palace videos so far this campaign on To view the link you have to Register or Login

Sound not great on this one due to the store setup but hopefully it's still enjoyable and insightful. Feedback welcome, of course.

How can I get tickets for the Stoke or Everton away game

samedi 28 novembre 2015

I'll be in the UK unexpectedly in 3 days time.... One of my Parents died.

Dont want to bang on about it.

However I wouldn't mind some time out and travel from North Wales to one of these games.

So seeing as Palace are playing relatively closely to Rhyl or Warrington which is where I'll be staying to the Everton and Stoke games, just wondering how I go about purchasing tickets in the away ends at these games.

Thanks for any information.

Pre match pub information would be much appreciated as well.

Great (Christmas) Party Game - Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

This game is brilliant. A computer game that gets people talking and having fun :)

A great game for Xmas day with the kids and family.

I'm looking at ways to use it in schools - especially with students who struggle with communication or those who do not work with others well.

So since Monday I have been waking up and my first thought.

F***ing hell we lost to sunderland!!!!

Can't wait till tomorrow morning!

:lux::lux::lux:

Amazing how footy affects your life.

Enjoy this team

I sat there today for the first time and was really looking at our team and appreciating it for how good it is.

I know Newcastle were really really poor but still couldn't help but think that this is a special time to be a Palace fan.

I used to always bemoan the weakness of our midfield, but I doubt it's ever been as strong as it is now. WE SIGNED YOHAN CABAYE FFS!

We can take off a player like Cabaye and still bring on a Jedinak. How good is James McArthur? Bolasie AND Zaha on the wings causing chaos, what other team has two wingers like them? Puncheon brilliant on form. Wickham hasn't scored but he was great today and there's a player in there for sure.

Yes there will be performances like Sunderland and Spurs but come on this season we've already won at Anfield, Stamford Bridge and recorded our biggest ever Premier League victory.

A Palace team like this doesn't come along often. Enjoy it!

The True Geordie

enjoy

Worst away team you've ever seen at Selhurst?

Newcastle were so bad today. I can remember beating Scunthorpe and Burnley within a few weeks of each other at the end of the 07/08 season, but we were playing very well by that point...

Brighton in 2002 :D

Please post your entries here.

Biggest ever top flight win

Off the top of my head today was our biggest ever PL win

I know we beat Man U in the 70's 5-0 but is this the biggest since? Remind me..

Lost Palace Flag

Like the silly sod I am,
I dropped my CPFC flag in Farnley Road after todays game.
It's a George Cross with Sittingbourne written across it at CPFC in the corners.
If any picked it up or lives nearby and can pop and have a look please....
It was dropped near the junction of Rothesay Road.
Cheers.

Cisse, you are a...

What a knobber.

Leicester plays a 4-4-2 and is atop the table. Why not Palace?

One thing almost accepted as fact on here is that a 4-4-2 doesn't work at this level. I know this because I'm a Dwight Gayle fan and I'm told hr would flourish in aa 4-4-2 bit that doesn't worknat this level.

Yet I'm watching Leicester. They play 4-4-2 and are leading the league with the leading goal scorer (a guy who had less goals than Dwight last year).

So is conventional wisdom wrong? Is it a total fluke? Or could Palace try it? Pace is supposed to be key to it. I know after today we are good for 5 goals a game with our current system.

As I type Vardy scores...

Match Updates: Other Weekend Fixtures 28th - 29th November

Vardy Vardy Vardy Vardy Vardy

1-1 draw with Vardy Scoring today please. After that I'd be happy to see Leicester and Vardy slide back in to oblivion

Player Ratings And Reviews: Newcastle (home)

Hennessey 5 not much to do. Didn't look confident though or command his box

Souare 7 much improved
Delaney 8 lovely header for crucial fourth
Dann 7 solid
Ward 6 below usual level

Mcarthur 9 MOM 2 goals but also everywhere
Cabaye 6 felt he was quiet

Puncheon 6 a couple of good crosses and a good attempt
Zaha 7 nothing came off but still scored, worked hard and classy

Wickham 8 Three assists, good on the ground, won loads of headers. Worked hard. Just needs a goal
Bolasie 8 well taken goals and a menace throughout

Subs:

Jedinak 7 won ball and passed well
Chungy 6 some good touches
Bamford n/a

Pardew 8 fair play to him for keeping the same side and transforming them. Newcastle may be going down but you can only beat what is in front of you Wickham and Bolasie both transformed by playing with each other up front.

SackPardew.com !

to the Geordie who came up with the SackPardew.com website, logo etc. I hope you choke on some dundee cake this evening, while crying into a pint of Newcastle Brown Ale. You wouldn't know class if it came and slapped your wobbly missus on her fake-tanned, scantily clad in icy weather, massive @rse.

.

Lets toast a pint of Palace Ale to the Pardew !!! :lux:

Which Player?

Young academy player, right back I think. Same era as Clinton etc. First name was Lee, blond hair, I think he ended up at Sheffield Wednesday. A handful of first team appearances.

Anyone, anyone?

Pub Close to West Croydon suitable for Wake

A friend's Dad died earlier in the week and was looking for a pub somewhere around West Croydon for the wake that will be able to do a few sandwiches as well as drinks. Any suggestions?

Chris Eubank paradox

Just watching him now on IACGMOOH (sorry) and I'm fascinated by the bloke

I know he's generally regarded as a bit of a tosser but I have always liked him

I just don't know how someone can get into the ring and go toe to toe with Nigel Benn at his best (and beat him) but also come across as such a sensitive soul.

I know he's said he was bullied by his older brothers which probably accounts for a lot of this but He would be top of my guest list. Just seems like a nice man.

Peter Taylor

In the pre-Newcastle training video Peter Taylor is standing next to Pardew in Palace in training gear, is on board as a coach now and if he is let's hope he's not doing to much of the tactical side!

David Attenborough narrates Black Friday.

CPFC Player Alphabet Name Chant Game

Bit of Friday afternoon bored in office fun for those that want it…

Here are the rules. Each letter of the alphabet needs a Palace player, current or former’s chant buy it. It can be one letter i.e “Deano” but that would be a waste if you could have “Darren Ambrose….I Wanna Know….” By that name, which could count for either D or A.

Likewise, it’s a waste to use Andy Johnson for J, because of J,J,J Julian Speroni for example.

The game isn’t, how quickly you can think of a player with first name or surname, it is how quickly you can think of one for each, using each letter wisely. Also – its for the best squad from the players – no need to use T or S for say, Tommy Soares if it can be helped!

I’ve made a start below.

If you want to play, please don’t just do a singular name, you need all the letters so you have shown where you have re-jigged a players chant, to include as many as possible, as below.

Winner gets a pint vs Chelsea in Red’n'Blue bar V Chelsea in Jan.

A Andy Johnson’s magic…
B Bruce, Bruce, Bruce Dyer
C Clinton Morrison, Clinton Morrison…
D There’s only one Dougie Freedman..

Proud Dad moment

This maybe merged with the display thread...or moved to Memory Lane but.....I wanted to share with the BBS a proud dad moment I had last week.

It was my sons 8th birthday last week, for those of you who dont know I met his mum when Sol was 2 years old and have regarded him as my son ever since. As a consequence Sol, and his sister (my daughter) Luna, have both been taught to support Palace. This is made even sweeter when you realise that my wifes family are Man Utd supporters. :)

Anyway, over the last few years I have been slowly introducing Palace games to him via highlights from MotD etc, this season he has sat and watched live streams of the WBA match, West Ham, Liverpool etc. For a lad who finds it hard to sit still for 5 minutes sitting through 90 minutes of footy was hard, but he was hooked.

As I said earlier, last week was his 8th birthday, after all the presents etc I was driving him to his karate class. The car was full of the sounds of The Rolling Stones (another of my introductions) when he piped up... "Next year, for my birthday, can we go to a real football match?" "Of course mate, I can take you to see Alhaurin again or maybe even Malaga, how about that?"

He went quiet......."No" he said "I want to go to see Palace!"

Misty eyes made me stop and hug the lad.

Not getting email notifications

jeudi 26 novembre 2015

Not sure why, but I've realised that I'm no longer receiving email notifications when someone posts on a thread to which I have contributed.

Presumably I've accidentally clicked on something that has caused this. Can anyone kindly tell me what I need to do to rectify this - non-technical language please, as I'm a bit thick :o

Benjamin Clementine is a Crystal Palace Fan

I met Benjamin Clementine at the Mercury Prize awards the other day, he loves the Palace (see 7:30 min of interview on youtube titled 'Benjamin Clementine : interview vidéo Qobuz)

I was there setting up the lighting rig wearing a Palace top. To my amazement he told me his hit song 'Cornerstone' was inspired by his dream of becoming the Palace keeper... but he was so rubbish during corners and always relying on his defenders being tough as stone he would lock himself away and sob after games... he realised he would never be the Palace goalie.
I told him the Holmesdale fanatics should attempt a rendition of this track when we get corner against us. He loved the idea!

Sándor Torghelle - The Lord of the Air

I was reading another thread and old Sandor was mentioned. I took at peek at Wikipedia to see what he was up to these days.

I was amazed to find out that he has acquired the nickname "The Lord of the Air". For a striker who doesn't seem to have scored many goals in his career, this struck me as a bit much.

Does anyone else know of any other footballing nicknames that are more grounded in hope than reality?

Generation to Generation, Father to Son

We dedicate this display to the past and current generation of Palace supporters that have supported our club through thick thin, no matter what. Crystal Palace FC have a long proud history witnessed and experienced by generations spanning over 110 years. Sadly, not all will be alive today to witness the exciting times we’re now having as a club but they have all played a vital part in creating the Palace spirit that lives on today. A lot of us have that special Father/Mother/Grandad/Uncle who introduced us to Palace… so here’s to them!

Eagles of Death Metal Paris Interview

Sorry, youtube Eagles of Death Metal Vice. Heavy heart.

One of John Jackson's understudies

I had the pleasure of watching the game on Monday, well pleasure of his company not watching the game, of an ex goalkeeper called Steve Chapman. Nice bloke who lives near me in Spain, he said he had no chance at all at Palace while the great Jackson was there which makes sense. He said his hero was Vic Rouse who he stood behind as a lad and said he was the first ever 4th Division player to represent his county. Does anyone know when he was at Palace, I have a squad photo I can post but there's no year on it. Yes I know I can ask him but no idea when I will see him again and can't work out the year from the photo. I would think late 60s, Kember and Lazarus are in the squad.

Stop Calling the Linesman 'Lino'

There's nothing wrong with a bit of abuse when a linesman makes a bad decision, but why do some people insist on shouting 'LINO' at him? Why abbreviate a two syllable word with, er, another two syllable word which is actually an abbreviation for linoleum?

It gets on my nerves, along with people who stand up and remonstrate with the referee, complete with arms flailing everywhere after a bad decision as if they're actually on the pitch playing. Sit down you fvckwits, you're impressing no one.

I don't know which is worse. Maybe I should do a poll or something. Or a poll to see if I should do a poll.

The Man in High Castle

Anyone else watching this? Based on the book and set in a alternative future where Germany and Japan won WW2.

First two episodes in and it's very good.

Croydon First

I only just found out that the first self service supermarket in the whole of Britain was Sainsbury's in London Road, Croydon. And then Sainsbury's rose to bugger up our ground. Is there anyone on here that shopped there or their parents? How easy was it to shoplift? It must've been a tea leaf's paradise.

Croydon has been a first for many things like the first European passenger airport, which now is just all fields. Also the second ever McDonalds to open in the country, which isn't a first but shut it. It was also the first place I paid for alcohol, got pissed and threw up.

Must be a few more firsts.

RIP Cynthia Robinson

Sly Stone's trumpeter and mother of his daughter. That's her screaming at the beginning of Dance to the Music. I saw the Family Stone (without Sly of course) on Worthing Pier this summer - they did two other UK shows, one in Glasgow and Glastonbury. They were fabulous and Cynthia was great, full of energy and nothing like 69. RIP.

Rumour: Crystal Palace draw up list of targets in keeper search

Quote:

Crystal Palace are in the market for a new goalkeeper with Alan Pardew not convinced any of the three senior goalkeepers in his squad are good enough, but a possible deal for Tim Krul looks unlikely, HITC Sport understands.

Alex McCarthy was signed for over £3million in the summer from Queens Park Rangers, but he was dropped in late September after the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Welsh number one Wayne Hennessey was drafted in to replace McCarthy, with Argentine veteran Julian Speroni not even considered, but still Pardew is not happy and has told the club’s hierarchy he wants a new number one.

Palace are willing to go with Pardew’s judgement and he is understood to have his former number one from Newcastle Tim Krul at the top of his wanted list, but The People understands that the Dutch international is close to signing a new long-term deal on Tyneside and it is likely he will rebuff the chance to move to the capital.

Instead, Palace are ready to do battle with Everton to land England squad goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who is currently starring for Championship side Burnley

The one time Manchester United trainee has impressed hugely at Turf Moor in recent seasons, but despite a huge desire to help Sean Dyche’s men back to the Premier League, as he is captain – he would find the lure of a move to the top-flight difficult to resist.

Palace are ready to make a move for him in January, but the Eagles are not the only suitors for the 29-year-old with Everton also keen on refreshing their goalkeeping department, with American veteran Tim Howard looking far from secure between the posts this season.

Directors Seats / Area Experience v Sunderland

Few months ago they ran a special £100 for seats in the Directors area for the Sunderland v Palace game.

4 of us thought, what the hell, be a bit different to have a posh palace experience rather than our usual AW seats.

Food
First off pre-match, a very credible 3 course meal in Speronis, and not a bad couple bottles of wine with the meal either.

Half time back at the table (thats where everyone in the red seats sod off to!!) we were given tea's/coffee's and filled rolls.

Post Match - back at the table, more tea/coffee and loads of pies, samosas etc being served til 10.

All in... def worth doing again in future - esp for toilets which didnt resemble a melted lake of piss!

Seats
Our seats were towards the back (padded with arm rests no less) ... pretty good view, though partially blocked by pillars with a couple of screens above our heads too. The screens were actually really useful as from our seats in the AW we cant see the big screen.

Being able to see replays etc was brilliant - though why they feel the need to keep showing adverts for Palace merchandise during the game is beyond me.

Would love to have a few of these screens dotted around the AW.

Atmosphere
Now... this is where it went a little wrong.

I know the game was pretty dire, but ive never sensed such a non-atmosphere at a palace game before. No singing (at all), people around us who had no clue whats going on - 'that suarez is pretty good' - was one choice comment and I felt utterly disconnected from the game happening on the pitch.

Also it was a mixed crowd as when Sunderland scored lots of people nearby jumped up - guess thats to be expected though as its very corporate and ive no issue with that, in fact was nice to see some people who actually were passionate about the game.

All in.... worth the £100 to try something new and would consider doing it again.

Main outcome was that it made me appreciate my seat in the AW far more and the feeling of being so much more connected to the game.

Childhood sayings

My 9 year old and his mates have started uttering the word 'safety' whenever unleashing a 'silent but violent' fart on an unsuspecting public. This unlocked a memory which had been buried in the recess of my mind for 30 to 35 years, in that we at school used to do exactly the same thing but I had completely forgotten about it.

We also had the classic 'Jimmy Hill' used as an expression of incredulity whenever someone was exaggerating their achievements or status. Often bastardised to 'Jim Jim' or 'Chinny reck-on' and of course always accompanied with frantic stroking of the chin.

Blue Peter brought us 'Joey Deacon' or just 'Joey' along with various grunting noises whenever someone was being a bit thick. Offensive and unacceptable behaviour but sadly it was common practice back then and the teachers and parents really only made half hearted efforts to stamp it out.

What others might I have forgotten about?

Capital Gains Tax - Italy

Dear all,

A long shot....

I tried a google search but answer is inconclusive.

Does anyone have any experience of paying CGT on Italian property? If so, is the process similar to UK - calculate the gain, deduct costs of buying/improving, consider reliefs and then apply correct % of tax depending on earnings?

Thanks in advance. :p

Bring back Eagles chant

We need to bring this back. For those of us who were there when it was first used, it was used throughout the game, even if we were defending a corner. Over the years it became just used when we were attacking , again mostly on corners. This is a powerful chant and is exclusive to us. To make it easy to start with at least use it when we get an attacking corner.

When Palace are playing away it is also chanted on tube networks, as we get out of trains, or to hail other Palace fans. Lets get it back in the ground. I'll have a go from Holmesdale Upper on Saturday, but please join in. Its our identity lets keep it.

Discussion: Pardew transfers

With the January window coming I wonder what supporters views are on those bought by Pardew . Personally I hope we don't buy anyone unless they would improve first 11 , no more squad fillers .

McCarthy Not sure he was priority with Speroni and Hennessey here
Souare Jury out still seems bit raw
Mutch Not realy sure what he brings to side
Lee Chung-Yong Bit lightweight , never plays
Bamford Again looks bit lightweight
Wickham Injuries aside , not a goalscorer or mobile
Cabaye Good player but perhaps too much of our budget used .
Sako Jury out but useful bench player
Sanogo Never looked good at Arsenal
Ameobi Stocking filler I think

Still think we should have gone for bit more quality less quantity . Our performances last season under Pardew were impressive without the summer transfers . Puncheon was on fire seems to have gone downhill since Cabaye came .

Shared maternity/paternity leave

Not far off now for us.
Wondered whether anyone on here had investigated or even made use of the change in the law to allow fathers to share the year allowed for maternity leave.
Pretty sure the split is up to us, but wondered on pay whilst on leave, what to expect. My firm has a decent enough maternity policy can I assume paternity would follow suit?
Mrs is a teacher so her leave is OK for a few months then dropping to SMP for the remainder, which is doable, but would like to spend a bit of time getting to know junior, when he/she comes along and not make things difficult moneywise.

Been stewing on this for a while, read the govt Web blurb and still none the wiser...

Suggestion: Right back needed. How about Janmaat?

Joel Ward is not good enough going forward or defending at this level because he lacks pace. Even more than a centre back I feel that we need a new right back. Who would you go for? I like Janmaat. Decent in the tackle and pace to get up and down. Thoughts?

Woy cites "Lack of quality" in England squad ahead of Euros

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Who knew? Nothing to do with who he picks of course.

Quote:

Roy Hodgson: England boss plays down side's Euro 2016 chances

England manager Roy Hodgson fears "inexperience or a lack of quality" may be his side's undoing at Euro 2016.

Hodgson's team qualified for the finals in France with a 100% record and beat the hosts 2-0 at Wembley on Tuesday.

That side contained six players aged under 23 and Hodgson wonders if their youth will be an issue.

"You don't turn a guy who has played six or seven Premier League games and once for England into a Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard," he said.

"I do believe we will have the organisation, the discipline and the desire.

"If we fail it might just be because some of the teams that beat us have got that player or two who can turn a game."

Hodgson has been in charge of England since May 2012 and his team have only lost once in 16 matches since coming bottom of their group at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He is pleased with the side's improvement, but says the young players are still learning at international level.

"I believe in the players and, given the opportunities, can become a good team but we are young, we are inexperienced - nothing is going to change that," added Hodgson.

"When Paul Pogba came on for France there was a definite acceleration in the quality they showed - we have got to get players up to that level of quality.

"It's still six or seven months away and I'm optimistic, positive and hopeful. This group of players won't let anyone down in terms of their attitude and desire.

"If they do fail it might just be because of inexperience or a lack of quality."
What a prick.

Adam and Megan Brownson are high earners - but struggle with the cost of London life

By most measures Adam and Megan Brownson would be considered very affluent.

Their respective careers - in management consultancy and personal injury law - give them a joint income of £190,000. The couple also own two properties with a combined value of more than £1m, putting them in the wealthiest 1pc of households in Britain.

But the pair are worried about becoming “financially broken” as the sheer cost of middle-class life in London means they are stretched to the brink. They spend everything they earn – and more.

Rumour: Palace bid £10 million striker Islam Slimani rejected

According to the Observer's "Tales from the Tabs" (so presumably in one of today's tabloids) Palace have had a bid of £10 million for Sporting Club Lisbon's Algerian striker, Islam Slimani, rejected. I gather he is a 27 year old Algerian international, who this season has scored 9 goals in 13 appearances and last season got 15 goals in 33 - slightly better than any of our strikers this season. Anyone know anything more about him ?

"England starting to play like Crystal Palace"

Never thought I'd hear those word in my lifetime, but flicking channels I found the Sky Sports 'panel' discussing why Dann, Zaha and Punch aren't in the England squad. Dann they reckon should be but it could be because he;s not at a fashionable club. Zaha similar, but said he maybe had games where he was a 5/10 and games where he was a 9, so consistency was questionable (have to say of late he has been more 9s than 5s). Then, when they came to Puncheon they said since he had come inside he was more of a creator and should be in the squad because "England have started playing like Crystal Palace". That, and the whole discussion, warms the cockles to hear that when you think of recent Palace history.

Administration Query

I will try and keep it brief. I am a sole trader. One of my two main clients have just gone into administration owing me money. Said company have been asked by the administrator to carry on with the orders they have ongoing and to commence the new works already in the system.

I have an order for a small job which is due to start this Monday. My first reaction is to tell them to poke it but l don't want to cut my nose off etc..

They still have a full order book for the next few months so my question is
a) If l get a new order, issued by the administrator, confirming the price and terms of payment, is this legally binding(Maybe not the correct terminology?)
and b) can l/should l try and get some terms of payment agreed regarding outstanding monies or are they, officially, a separate issue (Not to bloody me they're not but l am dealing with faceless bean counters)

Any advice appreciated even "funny" quips. I need cheering up a bit.

AFC Wimbledon planning 20,000 at plough lane

Wimbledon have just sold their old ground to Chelsea. This represents Wimbledon moving to Merton and getting planning permission for a new stadium. It is also Chelsea getting a point of presence further east than Cobham.

All this activity on the fringes of our borders makes me slightly uncomfortable. The thoughts of a newly invigorated Wimbledon could dent our westward ambitions at a time when we want to expand our stadium.

On the one hand Wimbledon are small and likely to never get into the Premirer league. On the other hand Wimbledon have ambition, have been climbing up through the leagues.

what does it all mean ? do you care or are you not bothered ? what will the future bring ?

I believe in Miracles

Now on DVD so you don't have to go to Nottingham to watch it in a cinema.

Worth a watch particularly if like me you're of a certain age as it takes you back to football in the 1970s.

Going from division 2 mid table to winning the European Cup twice in less than four seasons will never be repeated and you have to admire Clough and Taylor for that but it was their zenith.

Obviously it didn't cover the subsequent boozing, weird behaviour, alleged brings etc and living on past glory for the next 15 years but if you draw a line in 1980 it's worth a watch.

Anyhow we fell behind twice, both goals scored by their diminutive ex Chelsea twat striker Leon Knight before Freedman's 100th & 101st goals for us levelled matters at 1-1 then 2-2 but the coup de grace was saved until the 90th minute when the ball fell to Jobi McAnuff who fired in a shot from just outside the area through a crowd of players to win it at the death in front of the jubilant Palace Fans :lux:

It was an early afternoon KO,live on SKY & unfortunately, due to Ill Health I wasn't present so had to make do with watching it on TV,So,any memories or tales from that particular day from people who were there that day to remind us??? :p

DIY advice

I'm defeated, this is something becoming the bane of my life and I need some advice.

I'm trying to refit some skirting in my bathroom after a bit of tarting up of the place and i'm struggling because

1. some idiot who fitted the shower, or designed the house, decided to run the waste pipe along the wall
2. some idiot who fitted the skirting board decided to use gripfill to do it, and then when it was refitted by another idiot they tore off all of the plasterboard with it.

I didn't know about '2' until I took it off to refit it myself, because it just looked crap.

So, here's what the monstrosity looks like

as you can see there's nothing on the wall to fit a new board to, and a full skirting board won't fit behind it properly anyway (hence it looks crap and needed refitting

I've struggled with new skirting so far and need some advice on what to do.

For the love of Palace, please help! :sob:

the relationship between Goalkeepers and their own defenders

watching the telly you frequently see 'keepers getting angry with their own defenders when a goal is conceded. It may be surprising how such an outburst doesn't happen more often.

Famously Peter Schmeichel said that his job could have been done by a dustbin because the defenders in front of his goal were so good.

You will often see for free kicks that the 'keeper has the best line of sight and manages the placement of the defensive wall. When a 'keeper makes 'man of the match' is it because of deficiencies in the back four ? Jamie Carragher ranted recently on Sky about the importance of defenders keeping a good distance from goal so that the keeper gets an early view of any shots on target.

Then there is the sensitive matter of players being able to hear each other in very noisy stadia. 'keeper often shouts "leave it" when he has the shot covered and will be furious if a defender ignores the instruction.

We are so lucky to now have Speroni, Hennessey and McCarthy all competing for a place. When defenders are up the other end of the pitch, and a breakaway counterattack happens, it is admirable the bravery keepers show in running off their line and taking on a sole striker far away from goal.

so what does it all mean ? what is the relationship between defending outfield players and their own 'keeper ?

Happy birthday Mickus

Happy birthday mate. Hope you are having a good one.

Cabaye - how good?

Watched the England v Cabaye game last night and have to admit to supporting our Gallic friend.

Forget about the impressive performance of Alli and the ludicrously biased pundits, Lord Cabaye would walk in the England team.

Once he went off uninjured, I was happy to favour the eventual winners but it just reinforced how lucky we are to have him in our side.

The club record fee seems like peanuts now!

The Crew Wild Run

The Crew Wild Run is a massive paid for expansion for the original The Crew racing game.

However it is also on the market as a complete separate title.

Basically it enhances the original's graphics, adds real time weather, adds new vehicles including motorcycles, monster trucks, dragsters and also has over 100 new challenges.

I can vouch for the bike handling being spot-on as I am using a Ducati Monster 1200 which I have heavily customized with parts won in-game.

The Wild Run expansion is not available for the Xbox 360.

The Secret Footballer: Access All Areas

mardi 17 novembre 2015

Is anybody else reading TSF's latest (final?) book?

He really, really doesn't like Pulis, it seems!

"If you’d rocked up to our training ground for lunch a few years ago you’d have sat down to boiled brown rice, rock-hard broccoli (allegedly steamed) and either plain white fish or plain chicken breast. A cup of sand would have done wonders for moistening that plate of food. Then when players began drifting off in groups of threes and fours to a local Italian restaurant in town, the manager introduced a £100 fine for those failing to have lunch at the training ground.

Now, when you have players on £30,000 or £50,000 a week, that isn’t a lot of money, and so some players, particularly the foreign lads who treated eating with an almost religious reverence, simply paid the fine every day to escape the food on offer. That’s over £2,000 a month from just one player who did not want to eat at the training ground, all in cash –and we had maybe five or six players who did that, all foreign. I always did wonder what happened to that money, but the players throwing it away never gave it a thought –it was a case of money just making their world move easier again.

The same manager tried to control every single facet of the club, pretty much to everybody’s detriment. The local journalist had to have his articles on the club scrutinised by the manager every day over lunch (unpunctuated prose over unseasoned food) before he could go to print. That is not unheard of, but it was sufficiently shallow and insecure to turn the manager into a joke."

Many other similar anecdotes.

Super Al and England

Whilst I hope he gets the job one day, I seriously hope he loses it again on the touch line between now and the end of the season, otherwise I fear (like many others) that Pards may become a serious contender for the England job. Fingers crossed he gives fat Sam a good kick in the balls next weekend, that should rule him out...:p

kids kit sizes

I wanted to get my daughter a kid's kit for Christmas. She's only 18 month but tall for her age.
She's 33 inches tall and 23 inch chest (ish). These sizes don't really tally with the size guide on the website and I wonder what size people would recommend?

The sizes on the website seem a bit odd to me - only 5 inches difference in height between a 1 year old and a 6 year old?

I assume the sizes are in inches...
Size Chest Waist Age Height 5-6 Years 26- - 5-6 47- 3-4 Years 24- - 3-4yrs 44.5- 1-2 Years 23- - 1-2yrs 42-

Am I being dense?

92/93 season paint splatter 3rd/souvenir kit?

As per the thread title (I may have the season wrong) i was wondering if anyone has seen one of these for sale or may even have one for sale themselves? Made by Ribero i believe. They used to have one on ClassicFootballshirts.co.uk but thats gone now. Even if someone could post a picture of that shirt id be grateful as Classic Football Shirts can then try and hunt it down for me.

Known as a rather horrid shirt by some admittedly, but i quite like the random 80's/90's shirt designs :p

Had enough of England ?

lundi 16 novembre 2015

The time has come I am afraid to give up on England. After years of under performance I have had enough .

The direct line Spurs players have to England was bad enough.

Scott Dann still not being selected was at least soften by at least he can't get injured on international duty.

The final straw came when Jessie Lingard got the call up.

Are you kidding Hodgson.

Come the Euro's I will be cheering on Wales and anyone who plays England.

Disney world Florida - Advice needed

We're thinking of taking our family holiday next year in Disney world Florida. Having had a quick look on line it does seem quite pricey so I was wondering if anyone who's been there has any tips or advice on the best companies to book with. We have looked ourselves but there seems to be so much info online and some of it contradictory that I thought I'd ask the all knowing BBS.
There will be 6 of us in total and I will have to pay for the 4 children as adults (ages 25-16).

These are the questions I have (for now),

Should we stay on the resort with park tickets included or a nearby hotel or rent a villa? and buy the tickets seperately.
Any recommendations on sites for buying the park tickets as the ones we've found seem to have very little difference between 1 week and 2.
Is 1 week enough to fit in everything on offer?
Is car hire necessary?

TIA

150 police raids in France

Family Dogs

Really want to get a dog to complete the family but got 3 young girls (8,2 and 10 months) and need a calm dog

i know its the owners and how the dog is treated that makes it but we always had yorkies growing up and those little fu**ers nip and it hurts, one nearly took my lip off when i rolled over on it whilst I sleeping on the sofa

Missus wants a pug but personally i think they are fugly designer dogs or a bulldog as she grew up with them

I'm happy with a good old fashioned Staffie or Lab but don't want something that's boisterous and knocks the kids flying all the time!

So what you got! or recommend

Europes future.

I am more guilty than most of just focusing on what a Brexit will mean for this country but now with the EU having to face up to almost open revolt from many central and eastern European nations, with France mourning its dead whose only crime seem to have been to want to go out on a Friday night and enjoy themselves and with Merkal now rapidly becoming the most despised German since Hitler, what is the future for Europe ?

Where will the EU be in ten years time ? Forget the UK, we are out of it and good riddance but what actually lays in the future for it ? Can it survive in any meaningful way ?

Selhurst Terrorism Security

in the light of the Paris revelations that a suicide bomber tried to get through the turnstiles and detonated his suicide vest when discovered....i guess, sadly, this topic is now relevant.

We are in the Prem, often on live tv in the Capital , and hence a possible target for nutters intent on launching themselves to their pretend heaven with a whole clatter of pretend Virgins because these nutters couldn't possibly relate to normal women in a normal way while alive.

Regarding getting frisked on entry to Selhurst , sometimes it is thorough, sometimes it is cursory...especially if you are at the end of the queue. I am sure you will agree the airport security palava is a right pain in the neck. Madrid has some similar security procedures for travelling on the Metro. And so what is the balance between getting everybody quickly into their seats and keeping security tight ?

Sadly we now live in a world where the technology exists for anti-democratic lunatics to try to veto our civilisation. What advice would you give to policy makers at Selhurst ?

Testimonial for Sir Steve Coppell??

Sorry if this is the wrong place to start this thread,as apposed to Memory Lane, but With all the recent Man U Wankfest on the BBC,including them doing a 'Match Of The Day' type special for Beckham's charity game yesterday,in which Ferguson returned as manager of the GB & Ireland XI,why has our very own Legendary ex manager never been honoured??? :grrr:

After all Sir Steve did spend a grand total of 11.5 years,in 3 different spells & at 3 differing points in our history over the last 30+ years,in charge & he done it all,84-93 he built the team & club up from the farce of the Mullery era to attain our highest ever league finish,a maiden F.A. Cup final appearance & win the ZDS! ;) Shame it all went downhill after Wright left.

March 97-March 98 He done great in continuing Bassett's team into the playoffs & promotion, ultimately injuries & lack of squad depth & Goldberg's imminent arrival as chairman led to him moving 'upstairs' at the time.

January 99-July 2000 was for me his finest hour, ravaged by administration, players leaving, going on Strike (Miller!) He used all his knowhow & experience to lead us to 2 midtable finishes with a bunch of kids alongside 2-3 old pro's,a quite fantastic achievement!

We all know Sir Steve is a quiet, unnasuming man who hates the limelight & is totally not 'all about me' but I feel,25 years after the F.A. Cup final & 15 years on since he left us for the final time, that the man deserves to be honoured with a testimonial to thank him for all his efforts & achievements with us,he will be 60 soon & the sands of time are slowly slipping away as is the fresh memory of those years,So,I wonder whether anyone else on the BBS shares my view? & if CPFC2010 have ever thought about such an idea???

With our superb present & exciting future ahead maybe now is the time to pay some attention to the past & say thanks to our all time greatest manager???

why is West London so congested for Clubs

see the map, and explain why did west London get so many clubs all vying for dominance while other parts of london have a slighty more 'civilised' sense of separating one club from another ? Apologies map is not fully up to date. Solid yellow = Prem. Yellow doughnut is Championship. Halo is a nobody, like Millwall should read.

Millwall U21s 5-1 Palace U21s

Scoreline flattered Millwall but it was a very young Palace side with David Gregory the oldest at 21, with a few 19 year olds, 3 17 year olds and two 16 year olds.

Took Palace about half an hour to get into the game, by which point they were 2-0 down. We pulled a goal back through trialist CB Reis Greenidge which turned out to be our only goal.

Conceded almost immediately after the second half kicked off with a mix up at the back. Then they were pretty comfortable with their lead from there, scoring another two, although Palace were very good in short periods.

Aaron Bissaka already looks too good technically for the u21s but maybe not quite physically. I'm sure he will get a loan next season.

Luke Dreher, 16yo CM made his U21 debut and barely put a foot wrong, my MOTM. Played 75 minutes. I like him from what I've seen in the 18s.

Callum Sturgess played again. Must have played about 8 U21 games now. 16yo LB, good defensively and gets forward very well too. Think he's played more for the 21s than the 18s. Looks a prospect but very early days.

Lokilo was involved, set up the goal and looked fairly lively in parts.

They certainly missed the leadership, experience and combative nature of Connor Dymond and also Jake Gray and Luke Croll's experience.

Benzema/Valbuena Blackmail Scandal

Not sure how this hasn't been posted yet but:

Quote:

After being arrested and questioned by police in France yesterday morning for his possible involvement in a blackmail plot against fellow France international Mathieu Valbuena, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema has been charged today for “complicity in an attempted extortion.”

A source close to the investigation divulged information to AFP. The source said:

“Karim Benzema has recognised that he intervened with Valbuena at the request of a childhood friend approached by three crooks who had a sex tape in their possession. He said that he agreed with a childhood friend about what he would say in order that his team-mate would negotiate exclusively with him.”

AFP also adds that Benzema said he wanted to help his friend without thinking that he was doing wrong by Valbuena. Benzema is thought to have discussed the matter with Valbuena in October when France met up for matches against Armenia and Denmark.
A transcript of Benzema's conversation with the blackmailer is at To view the link you have to Register or Login

Whats wrong with 'The Football League', Ive heard they are worried about calling the FA and not the English FA should it sound arrogant but this is rubbish, dont you think the Italians/Brazilians etc call their own FA just the FA and not insert their country in it? Is this the same? Its the oldest league in the world why change it, it undermines the heritage if anything.

Its all bollox just leave things the way they are! Too bloody worried about what prople think the whole time when they dont actually care.

Toughest first 12 games

Aware the only games we have failed to win are against the current top 6 and we have played them all, i wondered how our 1st 12 games compared to the other teams.

Obviously this is relatively subjective and any methodology will have some flaws but i looked at the current position of all the teams each team has faced and averaged that figure across the 12 games. Therefore to anything under 10.5 means you have faced generally higher placed teams and had a more difficult start. Over 10.5 and you have faced manly lower teams and have had a comparatively easier first 12 games.

Measured this way Palace have had the hardest opening 12 games, followed by Everton and Watford.

Arsenal have faced tougher sides than Man City which may suggest they could take top spot between now and the midway point at Xmas as they will face teams lower down the table.

Southampton have had the easiest 12 games followed by Man City and Swansea.

Hopefully we can turn this into an advantage as we face teams lower down the division between now and Xmas and translate this into pints and a push back up into the top 6 but more importantly to 40 points by the end of January.

Best place to get a kitten.

Just over 18 months ago we had to put our beloved 19 year old cat to sleep. As a family we think we're ready to start again and have pretty much decided to get another cat or preferably a kitten.

Nothing fancy, in fact preferably a handsome moggy. I wondered if any bbs ers had any advice on where to go for what we need, or indeed have any pending as it were.

Obviously I know about Battersea and I'm keen to avoid farmed or pet shop cats.

What do you reckon guys?

Play like the away team at home?

There has always been a perceived home advantage in football, whether genuine or just psychological, and yet it seems that despite having one of the best home supports in the country we are better away than at home.

I've heard "experts" discussing this recently saying that we are a counter-attacking team and therefore playing away suits us, as when we play at home we are expected to take the game to the away team, but what in reality does that actually mean? Why on Earth do we have to play any different at home to away, especially if the away tactics work?
