Lee Chung-Yong - The inadvertent answer to our striking problems?

mardi 3 février 2015

After seeing many fans question the point of the signing of Bolton's cult hero Lee Chung-Yong, I had a good think about as to why he's been brought in here. Bolton fans have been saying that he's flourished this season in the 'number 10' role and is far more affective there than when deployed out on the wing. The harsh reality for any winger coming in to the Palace team is that they aren't going to get much game time considering we have three superb wingers on board already.

Yes, he's a versatile player, but perhaps he has been brought in to play in the 'number 10' role for us? Following the brutal injury suffered by Chamakh, it took no expert to understand the fact that we immensely struggle in his absence. Jordon Mutch was pulled into the fray far too early on in his Palace career and didn't look ready for it.

Perhaps Pardew has understood this and has decided that Lee Chung-Yong will be brought in to replace Chamakh, with Chamakh to be pushed further up the field to fill our clear striking void.

Lee Chung-Yong looks an exceptional talent and possesses all the technical attributes that Chamakh boasts and with what Lee Chung-Yong lacks in strength, he thrives in pace and mobility.

Yes, Chamakh isn't going to score an abundance of goals but you can put your mortgage on the fact that he will offer us that much needed aerial thread and endeavour that Sanogo failed to display last match.

Maybe the chances of us signing a striker hinged on the 'Chungy' deal, with Pardew knowing full well that Chamakh will be pushed further up the field?
