dimanche 30 novembre 2014

I thinking of shipping out of the uk fur a few days for New Years Eve

Love to get a bit if sun, some kitesurfing would be a bonus. Anyone got any suggestions.

Thinking 3-4 days so mega long haul not an option

Crystal ball, villa at home

Not much time to get your prediction in.

Score, scorers and attendance please.

Suggestion: Robert Huth

Quality commanding defender, been out for 12 months with a knee injury but reports are he's nearly ready to play.

Stoke may be willing to let him go.

Be a bit of a gamble and odviously need to do a very stringent medical but if he is ok he could form a hell of a partnership with Dann

Winter Olympics 2014 Winner: srs9jps

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.

Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.

Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Cadburys Whole Nut

Bought a bar of whole nut yesterday, for the first time for ages. Was it my imagination, or was the taste nothing like it used to be? I couldn't really taste the nuts, the chocolate didn't stick to them like it used to, but most of all the overall flavour seemed like a cheap copy of the original.

Trouble in Swansea

A mate of mine stayed in Swansea last night and spoke to a few Swansea Fans who said a group of Palace fans were causing trouble after the game and fighting had to be broken up by the Police. Hunting

Last night I was talking to a guy who hunts. He loved what he did to the point he is launching a new App for hunters to find where to get the species they want to hunt. This guy lives and breathes it and then kills it, more or less anything that moves you can get a permit for. One stat he mentioned to me is that 3% of the population of the country i live in are registered hunters, and in western europe alone there are 7.5m registered hunters.

I don't agree with hunting too much but he gave a reasonable case as to the needs to do it, population control, preventing disease spread etc.. but that stat made me think, is hunting really that common? Are there any bbsers who hunt and if so what species?

Coffee machines Nespresso or bean to cup

We bought a Nespresso in January and it's brilliant you make a Nero quality espresso with less effort than a cup of tea.

The slight problem that we have is that you need to wash out the milk frother between each use even if you are making two cups together, we have burnt out 2 of these and had them replaced.

I have started looking at other machines and bearing in mind that Nespresso capsules are expensive considering a bean to cup machine and wonder if anyone has one of these. I am concerned about the effort involved in cleaning these and would like to know of the coffee is as good as Nespresso

Room and board next summer?

I don't know if anyone can help but I have a friend whose 19 year old Catalan son is looking at coming to England (or Ireland) next summer and needs room and board in return for work. (2-3 months)

Another option would be to get a temporary job and a room in a shared house I suppose.

If anyone could help I'd be grateful. Thank you in advance.

Left OR Right

I thought the Swansea game was fascinating. Lots going on and a real challenge for our entire team. Fantastic result.

Would love to know what everyone made of Kelly and Ward. Did we learn anything from having Ward back in his natural position?

I would personally argue that we have to look at who we are up against and rotate them accordingly. Of course, before you post it, we do need a natural left back in January, but until then, I actually don't think we get much more out of Ward at right back. Kelly did well in patches today at left back, but it's tough to argue for either play to play on either side. I think this can be a positive dilemma for us. I'm taking to Kelly a bit too, he seems to have real ability, just needs to work on the positions he gets himself into.

Tough call on what we do with the full backs, what would you go for? *****il January of course)...

Suggested Team and Formation For: Villa (Home)

-----------------Speroni-------------------

Ward-----Dann----------Hangeland------Kelly

-----------------Jedinak---------------------

-------Mcarthur----------Ledley--------------

Zaha------------Chamakh----------Bolasie

1) Ward should do better playing on right for home games where he can get forward

2) Zaha has to start. He was MOM in his last home game, and Puncheon has not produced since August

3) Hope Gayle is fit enough to take his place on bench because he is far more of a goalscorer than Campbell and we may need him off the bench if we need a goal.

Match Updates: Saturday 29th November

First point of order, West Brom's head injury campaign/clap on 9th minute for JA, its infuriating considering their handling of Jules getting elbowed in the head, an action that could have caused him serious, serious damage.

Some tough games to call today, especially when you look at who we want to win/lose. QPR v Leicester and Burnely v Villa would be best to end as draws. Hull continue losing and West Brom get nothing from their game.

Why are Jedi and Bolasie allowed to play for their countries in January?

Why are Jedi and Bolasie allowed to leave for their respective cups in January?!

I don't want to be a kill-joy and deny them the chance to represent their countries, but they are arguably our two best players right now and losing them for a whole month of games will be a HUGE blow for us and could decide whether we stay up or not.

Every team needs their best players. They are contracted to play for Crystal Palace, nobody else. We pay their wages, nobody else. There is absolutely nothing in it for us, for them to go away and get tired, upon returning.

If the cups were out of season, fair enough, but not when there are club games to play for?

I can just about fathom a team without Bolasie, with Zaha presumably slotting in, like-for-like, but without Jedi, our captain, who is obviously such a physical presence in midfield, I can't see us getting many points.

Once again, I'd love to see Bolasie and Jedi playing for their countries, but surely not at the EXPENSE of Palace!!

Special train

How would we feel about the above for one of the matches this season?

Not in the old point to point chartered service way - that is far too expensive and way too much of a financial gamble these days - but by pre booking a certain number of seats in advance on a scheduled service.

I've had a chat with Virgin Trains, which offers a 25% discount on the advance fare for large group bookings of 50 plus. Price aside, the key benefit I see is that if the match is moved for TV coverage and we need to change/ cancel, you get a 90% refund. Ordinarily the cheapest advance fares, i.e. The ones we all buy, are non refundable/ transferable. So we all lock in a decent price early doors, but are similarly entitled to get it back if TV mucks about with our schedule. A 10% premium for me is an acceptable hedge given that train prices rocket around 50% from the point of going on sale to when the fixtures are cemented around TV's whims and fancies.

Other benefits are obvious - getting to travel with fellow fans to and from the match, arriving in decent time for a few beers, direct service etc. It could also be tied in to POTD.

The aim of this thread is to canvass whether this would be something fans would welcome and take advantage of. If so, it's something myself and CPST are happy to look into organising. We'd give a trial run to it for the Stoke match in March (direct Virgin service from Euston), and if it was well received look to make it a regular occurrence next season.

Logistically it would require full payment before the tickets go on sale (early mid Jan). And therein lies the only potential snag - Virgin will not be 100% sure of the prices prior to that date. So we'd have to take an amount we could be sure would cover the max amount, and refund any difference. Or we could set-up a Kick starter/ Crowdfunder page with a ceiling amount.

Let me know your thoughts.

Donations and banners for Joyce True

After hearing the very sad news of Joyce passing away yesterday, we would like to do something to honour her loyalty, dedication and support she has given to our club. A lady like her represents what this club is all about.

Banners Pre Game:

We are not yet sure on what the club are doing with regards to a minutes applause/silence – but what we as fans are proposing is having a banner at the front of each stand displayed before the game. This will further increase the spirit and unity of the fanbase and will be a nice gesture to display to one of our own.

We will take care of the Holmesdale worded banner. Can we have volunteers from the Main Stand, Whitehorse and AW to produce a banner for their respective stands?

Donations towards the funeral:

We are currently raising money to give to a member of the family on behalf of the Palace fanbase which can be used for flowers or anything they wish towards the funeral.

England apologise for anti-IRA chant

mardi 18 novembre 2014

From the BBC:

"The England supporters' band have been following England home and away since 1996

An FA official had to ask the England supporters' band to stop playing during the friendly win over Scotland after it inadvertently provided background music to anti-IRA singing.

As the band played Follow England Away - a song it regularly performs - some of the 5,000 away fans began the anti-IRA chant.

Manager Roy Hodgson said: "I didn't have a clue what they were chanting.

"If anyone was offended, I'm sure the FA would like to apologise to them."

An FA official contacted the band during the first half to ask it to stop playing the song because it was providing the tune for the offensive singing.

Hodgson added: "I don't condone it. Hopefully they will behave themselves and not get themselves into a situation where their chanting is being criticised."

Police Scotland reported no football-related disorder in the immediate aftermath of the match and said they had not received any reports of offensive chants.

England won the match 3-1 with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain putting them ahead before Wayne Rooney scored either side of Andrew Robertson's goal for Scotland."

Absolutely blood boiling. We are supposed to be pro-IRA now?

SAD NEWS

I am sorry to have to report that legendary supporter Joyce True passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning aged 93.

Known by most people as 'Joyce the voice' her distinct welsh tones could be heard above the crowd from her position in the centre of the Arthur Wait Stand. She was a regular on coach 1 with her husband Doug until he was tragically killed in a traffic accident outside their house.

She will be greatly missed by many supporters who have known her distinctive character since the days of the old third division south.

she leaves a son Jim, daughter Kath and granddaughter Nadine.

Socks

I'm a big fan.

Not in the unsettling, stained rain mac and corned beef sandwiches way, but in the wholesome useful every day item and accessory manner. They are pragmatic, yet fashionable or fun.

And it's not just me. Dogs love them. Washing machines prize them as a delicacy. And the sock monster has built a thriving black market economy by holding them to ransom.

Socks are finally getting the kudos they deserve. For example, I actually saw two people at a wedding comparing their socks recently.*

Come on BBS, admit your (non-fetish) sock love. Regale your sock anecdotes. Show off your sock hoards.

*OK, so one of the people was me. And I may have instigated the conversation. But still.

Entrance music

Having a chat with the infamous ExiledStirling today, and for some reason we got on to the subject of 'Glad all over' and other club's entrance themes.

We all know the story behind our theme being chosen, but what are the stories and history behind other team's 'theme tunes'?

Here's a wiki list To view the link you have to Register or Login

I see Charlton still play 'The Red, red robin'! :D

Everton's 'Z Cars' is a weird one too; hardly inspiring. I think that was a response to Liverpool choosing the hit smash at the time 'You'll never walk alone', and Everton deciding to go with the hit TV theme instead. Destined to always be in the shadow of their neighbours ever since.

Are these entrance songs a phenomenon started in the 60's?

Did Palace come out to another tune before Glad all over? (I know in the early 80's we switched to 'Power to the Palace' for a season or two).

Match Updates: Belgium vs. Wales

Wales fans all over SSN predicting a draw/Wales win. Granted they've been drinking since 9am but I just can't see it.

They're improving (and have Gareth Bale) but the majority of their team are average at best. Only Bale and Ramsey would challenge for a place in the Belgian side.

2 or 3-0 for me.

How about trying Zaha up front?

Sounds like madness, and I am not saying that we should necessarily do it from the start, but why not give it a go? We could play the same 10 players behind him as last season, ie Speroni, Ward, Delaney, Dann, Mariappa, Jedinak, Ledley, Puncheon, Chamakh, Bolasie. So the only change would be Zaha for Jerome. Now I Know Zaha is not prolific, but his record up front, both for us and for the England u21s is not bad. He'd only have to be as prolific as Jerome or Campbell, and I think he could manage that.

The big reason I think it could suit us is that he is the next best thing we have to Jerome, in terms of style. He is fairly strong, he has the pace, and I think he'd scare the centre backs into making mistakes. Chasing after loose balls or balls over the top he'd be a worry for them. I'm not saying he'd hold it up as often, but when he was able to I reckon he'd be a lot more threatening. 1 on 1 against a centre back or even 1 on 2 against both centre backs with no support arriving would not be a problem for him, and it'd get us back close to the style we played last season. Thoughts?

The demon drink

I know some of you on here have in the past have given up drinking.

having been asked yesterday by my 11 year old daughter if I was an alcoholic I've resolved that I have if not completely stop drinking I must cut down my drinking massively. I don't think I'm an alcoholic but I definitely drink to much and too often and whilst really enjoying the effect of alcohol in making me for a time someone who I like more it's not real is it not is the camaraderie of my local so it's time to stop, any advice? I quit smoking through hypnotherapy does that work for booze

temperature logging

vendredi 14 novembre 2014

Hi

Another one of my more weird questions. I am keen to log temperatures indoors and outdoors as part of an exercise to get on top of our heating management (long story). I want an affordable/low cost way of capturing temperatures effectively and probably on an hourly basis but flexible on this.

I assumed that there would be an abundance of low cost options for this given technology and the zillion reasons I can think that this technology would be old and cheap by now. But I am struggling to narrow this down to something that looks like it works without spending a lot of cash (relative to what it is)

I want to be able to analyze the captured data on a windows 7 PC so that I can integrate it into other stuff I am capturing relating to this.

I have looked under data loggers, weather stations and shipping temp trackers and have struggled to find something that fits the bill.

Just wondered if anyone on here (unlikely I know) knows about this stuff or has something.

The nearest I have come in terms of functionality - albeit they come with more than I need - were the weather stations that capture it over time and some support data transfer but I was struggling to find anything for say £20 or £30 largely because they all do far more than temp. I will spend more but assumed it was worth asking here first.

Music Piracy - Prison Sentence

So this is a slightly strange situation. I'm on another forum that's quite close knit, with just 30-50 regular posters, and one of those posters set up a website a long time ago which ended up basically being a place where people could share links to records hosted online.

The site became quite popular, but was then shut down in 2011 and he was arrested and charged.

He's had this hanging over him for a long time now, and the court case was continually delayed until quite recently when he pleaded guilty to 2 of the 4 counts against him.

To cut a long story short, he was sentenced a couple of days ago and received a 32 month prison term. To view the link you have to Register or Login

Now I know that file sharing is wrong, and I dont want to go down the route of this turning into a morality conversation, but that is an extremely excessive and harsh sentence in my opinion for someone who basically set up a website at a very young age and didn't police it or stop it being indexed by Google.

There are so many more violent, aggressive and intrusive crimes one could commit where the punishment wouldn't be anywhere near as excessive!

As a slight aside, his solicitor was beyond incompetent, to the extent that my friend only found out when he would be sentenced because a friend in Leicester sent him a photo of a newspaper clipping which talked about his co - accuser pleading guilty also.

Match Updates: Scotland vs Ireland

Tonight at 7:45 at Celtic Park.

Both Doyle and McArthur can share a cab back to Selhurst as both picked up knocks ruling them out of the game. Barry Bannan is in the Scottish squad.

Rumours that Roy Keane leathered some lad who tore pages out of his book at the team hotel the other night have yet to be confirmed. The Gardai & an ambulance were called but no arrests made. I imagine the fan won't be welcome in County Cork. Tearing pages out of Keane's book is akin to them as tearing pages out of the Koran at Mecca.

Massive tit and ex Man Utd player Gordon McQueen has stoked the flames for the match by slagging off McGeady and McCarthy for choosing to play for Ireland over Scotland - then lauds Wilson & Rioch for choosing Scotland over their native engerland.

Teams yet to be announced. I can see it being tight as both teams are fairly similar with steady players interspersed with a bit of flair here and there.

I shall be drowning myself in Guinness in South London as spare tickets for this match were rarer than rocking horse shite.

Crystal Palace's Fraizer Campbell has emerged as the best buy - cost-per-goal

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Crystal Palace's Fraizer Campbell has emerged as the best buy. The former Manchester United and Sunderland man moved to Selhurst Park from relegated Cardiff in late July for just £800,000 and has since scored three league goals. The 27-year-old netted in wins against Everton and Leicester before scoring in the Eagles' 2-1 home defeat by Chelsea, giving him an impressive cost-per-goal of just under £267,000 - the best return in the division. :lux::lux::lux::lux:

UNFAIR CRITICISM OF NEIL WARNOCK

I feel more than a little sorry for Neil Warnock at the moment. He has been getting criticism from some Palace fans due to our disappointing run and league position.

I don't think that criticism has been fair. Let's remember that no matter how he prepared the team, or what substitutions he made in the West Brom and Sunderland we were in part robbed due to the ineptitude of poor officials in those games. Had those games gone as they should, as the effort and football deserved, then the reward would of gone with that. None of that is Neils fault. Palace would be atleast 10th and sitting pretty if those games not been ruined by the officials.

Let's just give Neil our backing, pause for a moment before ripping into a manager that has taken over a job that there were no outstanding candidates. Taken a job that within 4 days he had to decide on recruitment and then settle a disapointed team, lift it and move it forward. Pulis left this club with no left backs, then stropped off into the hills.

I think that all that Neil has had to contend with in such a short space of time. The least we as Palace fans can do is cut the man some slack. Honestly would any of us, do any better, given the circumstances.

UK parliament to debate money creation for first time in 170 years

Why not encourage your MP to attend? To view the link you have to Register or Login

UK parliament to debate Money Creation and Society for the first time in 170 years. Here’s why your MPs should be asked to attend:

Parliament places huge scrutiny on how taxpayers’ money is spent. But for the last 170 years, parliament has ignored the question of how money is created in the first place. This will all change on Thursday 20th November when MPs will attend a debate on money creation and society.

Money creation affects almost every aspect of our lives and is directly connected to almost all public policy issues, including public and private debt levels, house prices, and rising inequality, but it’s very poorly understood.

A recent poll found that 7 out of 10 MPs believed that only the government can create money when in fact 97% of money is created by banks as /when they make loans, as recently confirmed by the Bank of England.

There is cross party support calling for a debate on money creation:

Steve Baker, Conservative MP for Wycombe, said: ‘I believe that this is a problem that is absolutely at the heart of our society and what is wrong with our economy. The organisation Positive Money has helped me to campaign on this issue… I want the debate to be on money creation and society to flesh out both the problem and the range of possible solutions.’

In a letter to a constituent, Ed Miliband, Labour party leader said: ‘I do welcome that such fundamental questions are being asked about how the money in our economy is being created and used, how our financial system can be more transparent and accountable and work for the benefit of the country as a whole.’

Nick Clegg, Liberal Democrat leader and deputy prime minster, wrote: ‘I do accept that there is a problem that not enough people, including policymakers, understand how new money is created. This is a problem for a number of reasons, not least that it can hamper attempts at effective reform of the banking system. The creation of money is a matter of significant public interest and we need to make sure it does not become an obscure and technocratic debate.’

Shame in the City: £2.6bn fine leaves London’s reputation in tatters

The feasting continues...

To view the link you have to Register or Login

In one of the darkest days in the histories of the City and Wall Street, six major banks were have been fined a total of £2.6bn by regulators. A seventh, Barclays, is still in talks over the size of its penalty.

The punishments came after an inquiry by watchdogs in Britain, the US and Switzerland into rigging of the foreign-exchange market. Over £3trn is traded daily on the international currency market, and the banks’ traders were found to have manipulated prices.

What was shocking, even by the standards of the scandals of the past few years, was what regulators portrayed as the arrogance of the bank employees. They formed groups and gave themselves nicknames such as “the A team”, or “the Three Musketeers”. They communicated with each other via chatrooms.

And.....Banks pay out £200bn over six years: a history of banking misdeeds and fines from Libor rigging and sanction busting to forex manipulation, a look back at the global banking industry’s offences and penalties To view the link you have to Register or Login

Cardiac Risk in the Young. Please read.

Hi all,

I know I haven't been around on here for quite some time, but I felt it necessary to make a reappearance after some tragic news involving a Palace season ticket holder and his wife.

In the early hours of Sunday 26th October, my best friend's wife suffered a massive cardiac arrest. James proceeded to give Marie CPR whilst waiting for the Ambulance Service to arrive.

Marie spent a week in intensive care at Croydon University Hospital. During that week family and friends of both James and Marie pretty much camped out in the hospital, giving as much love and support to both as we could physically and emotionally manage. In some cases people didn't sleep for 2 or 3 days. Others of us spent 10, 11, 12 hours at a time at hospital before heading home for some rest before starting again the next day.

On Sunday 2nd November Marie passed away. She was just 29. The news has left us empty, numb, confused and questioning everything. Marie ran a trampolining group called Anti-Gravity and spent all her time helping children and special needs pupils. To see the outpouring of love and affection for her from all those whose lives she has touched has been just amazing.

I type this with tears rolling down my cheeks.. I could not be prouder than I am right now for James. The way he has coped with everything has been nothing short of amazing. His strength and courage has been inspirational. Nothing prepares you for holding your mate in your arms after he's been told bad news. Nothing prepares you for going in to say goodbye to your friend for the last time. There is no manual for this. But the way James has been coping with this has helped us all cope with it too. He's been amazing.

As a result of this James wants to raise some money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). I know most of you don't know him or Marie, but if you feel like chucking a couple of quid towards this massively worthwhile cause, then here is the link he has created: To view the link you have to Register or Login .

Rest in Peace, Minty. We love you and miss you every day.

You wonder what a Club has to do to keep hold of players that are only interested in their bank accounts - surprise surprise a lot of these cnuts are French.

'Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, 25, has reiterated his desire to play for a "big club", with Arsenal set to renew their interest in the France international.'

What mnore can Southampton do, they're 2nd in the league. He is reitering a desire to play for a club that may well finish lower. That's got to be about money, nothing else.

Mine is about 54 beats per minute which I always think is on the low side, given I'm in my late 40's and a good stone or two overweight. I am relatively fit though (I run/cycle pretty regularly). I expected it to be more like 60-70 bpm.

Is it related to blood pressure (mine is very low and always has been)?

Would you support a convicted rapist ?

Would you still pay and support a player that had been convicted and served his time ? or would you refuse to attend any matches ?

Convicted rapist Ched Evans is a step closer to returning to professional football today after it was revealed he will start training with former club Sheffield United this week.

More than 157,000 people have signed an online petition urging the League One club not to let him return after he was jailed for five years in 2012.

The 25-year-old was released from prison last month and continues to deny he raped the girl in a Premier Inn in his hometown of Rhyl, north Wales, in front of his friends.

But by the end of the week Evans will be training with Sheffield United, where he earned £20,000 before he was jailed, and is likely to be the final step before he signs for them permanently.

Petition to save Crystal Palace athletics stadium

The Greater London Authority are trying to bulldoze through plans to demolish the athletics stadium in Crystal Palace Park and, in the worst case scenario, replace it with just landscaping – and a primary school!

Please sign the petition on this webpage To view the link you have to Register or Login before 17 November if you are against the GLA proposals as well – there's also a link to the official website if you know nothing about them.

My personal opinion is that these plans have nothing to do with their stated reasons but are more Boris Johnson wanting to a lasting 'legacy' in rebuilding the Crystal Palace since the part of the park not subject to the 'demolition' proposals mysteriously matches exactly the portion the ZhongRong Group (part owned by the famously transparent Chinese government) want to keep out of public and local control for 125 years! Except for Boris & Friends, ZhongRong's intentions are being kept secret from everyone who will have to live with the aftermath of a community and park destroyed in the interests of money and 'lasting legacy'. To make things worse Seb Coe's company is also involved (To view the link you have to Register or Login ) – so much for an 'Olympic Legacy' for people living south of the river and beyond!

Locals, like me only have this petition to really show opposition so please support the cause.

Thanks

Houses of Parliament regaining credibility?

Great debate now on the parliament channel based on the promise by the government to have a vote on the European arrest warrant, yet seem to be reneging on it.

Both sides of the house far from happy and pointing out how it looks to the electorate.

Am awaiting for Theresa May to finally get to her feet to answer the accusations of parliament being treated poorly and dishonestly over this matter.

Pocket/Virtual Landline

Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing?

I'm starting a new business and need a virtual landline as I'll be moving around quite a lot in the next few years. I'm with o2 at the moment on a pay monthly contract and they've just told me they no longer offer virtual landlines to customers. I think they're having a bit of trouble with their suppliers.

EE seems to have a good deal, essentially a virtual landline bolt-on for £10 a month.

Any advice out there?

My Palace 'mojo' needs a boost.

Ladies, Gentlemen and even Soc.libs.

I need your help.

Always been a fan of the sort of the You Tube videos that people put together of Palace goals and so on set to music. What I am hoping for is some clever techy soul to splice together some smashing Palace goals (ideally many against Brighton and Millwall along with worthy others such as FA cup or league cup goals and things like Dougie at Stockport) with perhaps some great crowd shots of the HF all to a sound track of the Foo Fighters 'Everlong'.

A big ask I know but it all seems a little depressing at the moment and I reckon a big shot of Palace nostalgia put to a superb rock tune will lift the hearts.

Thanks. :)

Premier League Starts

2014/15 – 11 games, 2 wins, 3 draws, 6 defeats for 9 points

2013/14 – 11 games, 1 win, 1 draw, 9 defeats for 4 points

2004/05 – 11 games, 3 wins, 2 draws, 6 defeats for 11 points

1997/98 – 11 games, 3 wins, 3 draws, 5 defeats for 12 points

1994/95 – 11 games, 2 wins, 4 draws, 5 defeats for 10 points

1992/93 – 11 games, 1 win, 6 draws, 4 defeats for 9 points

Obviously last season was just fantastic after Pulis came in and the KM hard work before it. But interesting to note that we have not made our "best" or "worse" start and been relegated in every season.

Palace Fans behaviour on return train from Manchester

Just wanted to say that on the way back from Manchester on Saturday I was embarrassed to be a Palace fan for the duration of the train journey, the behaviour of some of the fans was an absolute disgrace. Hitting the ceiling, swearing continuously in front of young children, being loud / disrespectful to other passengers and intimidating any poor female that tried to pass through the carriage! The saddest part of all was that this behaviour was from grown men, not a bunch of teenagers who you would sort of expect it from........

Anyone else feeling disconnected with the club?

dimanche 9 novembre 2014

What with Warnock in charge and this take over seemingly imminent, lack of communication with the owners and no connection with the management does anyone feel completely disconnected from the club in it's current state? Hasn't felt like this since Jordan was in charge.

We really need a pick me up.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Palace U18s 0-1 Swansea City AFC U18s

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Palace's U18s came into this match on the back of a poor run of form, despite a 7-0 drubbing of Barnsley last time out at Copers Cope Road, and Swansea executed a gameplan to perfection.

Corie Andrews was left with little protection from the officials but showed glimpses of why he is so highly rated. Saw a lot more of the ball than I thought but just not in the right areas or with much support.

They impressed so much against Juventus, Real Madrid and Spurs in the Premier League International U17 Cup that Juventus have offered them an opportunity to play again in Turin.

African Cup of Nations

I had a quick look for a thread already on this, so if there is one, my apologies.

Anyhow, Morocco is refusing to host it due to Ebola fears. As such, if CAF cannot find a new host ASAP, the tournament will be postponed and African players will most likely stay with their clubs for January.

Crystal Palace weigh up £5m bid for Scott Brown

CELTIC captain Scott Brown is set to be the subject of a £5 million January bid from Crystal Palace, according to reports.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock has had the former Hibs midfielder watched on a number of occasions this season, and is believed to be a big fan of the 29-year-old.

The Selhurst Park gaffer has reportedly earmarked the Scotland international as the key to ensuring Palace avoid relegation from the English Premier League.

If Brown joined Palace, he would join up with former Celtic team-mate Joe Ledley as well as fellow Scots Barry Bannan, James McArthur and Chris Kettings.

But Ronny Deila will no doubt be reluctant to lose his influential captain as Celtic eye progress in the Europa League.

Glen Roeder

Mail is suggesting that Glen Roeder will be our Director of Football . Reading SP comments about TP , maybe the reason he left was that SP does not favour a manager having most of the control on football matters where TP obviously does . Still doesnt explain wjy it was left so late before they realised their views were so far about though .

Staus of the Isle of Man.

Got an odd text from my mobile provider saying that we have been recently sending texts and making calls to somebody on the Isle of Man and that they have made a mistake in that they have not billed us for these, taking them as part of our normal allowances, but they will in the future.

Which is a puzzle as we don't know anybody on the Isle of Man. We have had a friend from Croatia over and have been texting her via her Croatian number but expected that to be charged as per normal along with texting another friend, via her British number, who has been in Antigua so is it possible that mobile companys route their services through the Isle of Man for out of country service ?

Will ring the company tomorrow to find out what is going on but thought that you clever sods might be able to throw some light on it first.

Rumour: Grant Hanley

Palace linked with Blackburn Rovers captain Grant Hanley in today's Sun paper. Warnock has had scouts watching him. If he's anything like Scott Dann then sign him up!

22 year old CB with over 100 games for Blackburn and 15 caps for Scotland.

Time to give Gayle his chance

After yesterdays miss by Campbell I feel that its time to give Gayle his chance.

He has done little wrong and just because he is young should not matter.

When I saw that miss my immediate thought was that Gayle would have buried that.

He made a massive difference at the end of last season and should be put straight in, starting with Liverpool.

If that does not work then we need a replacement in Jan.

One thing is sure we cant afford to miss chances like that again.

Suggested Team and Formation For: Liverpool (Home)

--------------------Speroni---------------------------

Mariappa-----Dann---------Delaney---------Ward

-------------Jedinak---------Ledley-----------------

Puncheon----------Chamakh---------------Bolasie

----------------------Zaha--------------------------

1) That's now our first choice back 4. I prefer Kelly to Mariappa, but that is tried and tested and should be the back4 until January barring injuries, and we should look to bed Kelly into centre back next season.

2) Puncheon to be given a chance as he links well with Mariappa. Bolasie to play as he was our MOM in this fixture last season. If he is off form, take him off after 55 mins NOT after 80 mins

3) Would prefer Gayle up front, but it's obvious Warnock doesn't want to give him any opportunities. Shows that those excusing Warnock with his subs because of injuries/red cards earlier in the season were totally wrong. We go 1-0 down after 65 mins. Change should have been straight away. He is still bringing on all the subs in the last 10 or 15 mins. It's ridiculous.

4) Zaha up front because he can hold it up, and is as good at finishing as Campbell - not difficult - and he works just as hard. If we need goals, Dwight Gayle is your man.

5) Close between Ledley and Mcarthur. Very similar players actually. Both defensively disciplined and decent passers, headers, tackles. Neither has the dynamism to take a game by the scruff of the neck though.

Would be interested to hear other people's thoughts
