As a club that has avoided relegation from the Premier League for the first time in our history, I'm wondering whether it is too early in Tony Pulis' time here to start setting targets for next year. The obvious one is that we again avoid relegation but should CPFC2010 be raising the bar.
Van Gaal is being tasked by the Man United board to challenge for the league title next year or at least secure a Champions League place. Fat Sam is being told by the West Ham board that he needs to finish in 10th place or higher. More laughably the Leicester owners want a top 5 finish within the next 3 seasons.
Personally I don't think we need that kind of pressure. The medium term aim must be to improve the infrastructure and overall quality of the squad rather than target say a top ten finish or a cup final. Boring maybe but given our history I can live with that.
