Denmark wearing shirts with less visible logos:
This is not action, this is participation in the event you claim to be against but attempting to cash morality points. It’s the same with the arm bands England plan to wear, it’s meaningless. Real action would be a boycott where nations pull out. There is no sacrifice happening here, rather condoning of the event by playing. These shirts and arm bands wont make people in the region bat an eyelid, money will still be changing hands and the more teams toe the line the more it will.
It’s marketing, stakeholder capitalism, where brands attempt to buy your attention by leaping on morality causes while not actually doing anything about it. It’s still about money. Hummel still have their logo on it, even though it is less visible. In someways it makes their logo more visible. It’s marketing, not fighting causes. It was just a shirt unveiling. How many will they sell to people who will be against the world cup but will still watch every match, happy they are making a protest by sitting there in their shirt.
