Hard one to believe now, but going through newspaper archive, it seems, Palace, just one year into their Football League journey (they had won the inaugural FL Third Division in 1920/21 after moving, with most other professional clubs from the Southern League in 1920.
The new Wembley Stadium is being built, but wont be opened until 1923 - replacing the old Crystal Palace venue as the permanent home of the FA Cup Final.
Here, in a report from September 21st 1921 in the London Daily News, suggesting that Palace (along with QPR) have been offered the new Wembley as a home venue. Palace, at this time are still playing at The Nest, near Selhurst Station and Selhurst Park has also not yet even been been begun to be built, although the land had been bought.
