Player Ratings And Reviews: Bournemouth (home)

mardi 2 février 2016

Hennessey 6 Nothing to do really. Could he have done better for 2nd goal? Distribution good

Souare 5 Limited footballer technically. Out of position with regularity. Jury is still out IMHO
Delaney 5 Not one of his better games
Dann 6 The usual, and a goal. He's a goal machine, but don't sing it or he'll get turned inside out
Ward 6 Tried hard. Showed technical ability. Wanted to make things happen

Mccarthur 5 A non event, but should have been subbed sooner anyway as picked up a knock
Jedinak 7 The usual poor passes, but won lots of headers and tried very hard including runs forward. Should have had an assist

Chungy 6 Unlucky to be taken off. Neat and tidy and a good passer. Clever, and works hard.
Puncheon 2 Seriously, how many more games until he is dropped? Is he Pardew's lovechild? Slow and ponderous at all times. Loses it time after time too
Zaha 9 MOM he's on another planet compared to the rest of our players

Campbell 3 Outdid Puncheon, but that doesn't tell the full story

Subs:

Adebayor 6 Some good touches. At least he knows there is one player in our squad who can provide for him.
Mutch 5 One good run aside he did very little. Again.
Chamakh 5 He doesn't seem to care anymore. Good save for his chance but he should have buried it.

Pardew 4 He got it all wrong, as expected. Why did he let Puncheon stay on the pitch? it was a disgrace that he took CYL off instead. And starting Campbell? You've got to be joking. I'm still backing him 100% but he seems to have run out of ideas. The next couple of games will show what kind of bottle he has, because his favourite Jason Puncheon needs to be dropped. And as for Campbell, he shouldn't be in a Premiership squad, let alone ours.

Referee 3 He was embarrassingly bad. Not for any glaring errors or decisions, but he let so much go. So many fouls on Wilf. Honestly, half their team should have been sent off for persistent fouling. Wilf is a serious talent, and was far too good for them, but he had no protection from the referee. As a club we should make a formal complaint. I'm sick of the opposition being able to come here and cynically foul our only threat.

There will be the usual over-reaction, but those who slate the club's transfer activity may have a point. Because we have underinvested in forwards, and now are stagnating. Bournemouth deserved the win for their efforts. The covered every blade of grass and their forwards were dangerous. Big credit to them. But we are a far more talented team and we should be swatting them away when at Selhurst Park. Bolasie can't return quick enough, and we need to have a serious overhaul of the squad: Campbell, Chamakh and Mutch must go, and Puncheon should become a squad player. We will need 5 new attacking players, and that's before we look at defensive reinforcements. I think we will be ok but out progress has been stunted by a lack of investment in decent centre forwards, Connor Wickham aside. We have tremendous fans, great spirit in the squad and the best wingers in the Premier League. If only we had some decent strikers and we'd be right up there (as we were before Bolasie got injured). Let's not turn on the players or the manager, but let's hope the team on Saturday is picked on merit and not reputation, and that Pardew makes the 'difficult' decision: Puncheon must be dropped.
