This winless stretch has been painful to endure. There is no doubt that 10 games without a win requires serious self-examination, but what is so concerning to me is how many people have turned the BBS into an emotional, negative, irrational place. Pardew has certainly made mistakes (he made a ton even when we were winning), but he has done enough to earn our trust. 10 winless games (if you choose to ignore the FA Cup) may seem like an eternity in football, but it is still an extremely small sample size. Pardew has not forgot how to manage. The players are still giving it their all. We could still yet have a historic season. I know the silent majority have kept some perspective, but here's a friendly reminder for those that haven't:

  • Our 5th place position for the first half the season was a false position and one that was unsustainable. It has created unrealistic expectations. Although we played better during the first half the season than we are now, we took advantage of a serious amount of luck. Conversely, our luck on the field during this stretch has been poor.
  • Even in this 10 game winless streak we have beaten 3 Premier League teams in the FA Cup, all who put out strong sides. This includes two great away wins at Southampton and Tottenham. We now are a win away against Reading from going to Wembley for the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
  • In addition to our bad luck on the field during this stretch, our luck off the field has been even worse. Bolasie, McArthur, Sako, Gayle, Wickham, Ledley, and Puncheon have all missed significant time during this stretch. Replacing these players in January would have been near impossible. Most of these players are now back which gives us great reason for optimism for the rest of the season.
  • Despite all of this, we are almost certainly not going to get relegated. I have seen so many posts on here saying "relegation is inevitable" or "Pardew has to go if we have any chance of staying up." Yet, we are still 28/1 to get relegated. Is it impossible? Of course not. But it's highly improbable. We are 4 times more likely to win the FA Cup than get relegated.

We are rightly considered the best fans in the country. Now let's prove it.
