Jules' most important save

jeudi 14 mai 2015

Have been reading through the Jules' testimonial thread and the 2 year anniversary of the Brighton semi-final thread :D:D and it got me thinking, what was the most important save that Speroni 'the gentleman the legend' ever made for us? I stress the most important save as opposed to the best save. (Obviously I would say that it still has to be a reasonably good save!)

I'm sure I'm forgetting some but have narrowed it down to 4. So for me it would be between:

Troy Deeney - Playoff Final 2013 - I had resigned myself in that split second that he was going to score and was just waiting for the net to bulge, couldn't believe that Jules had managed to claw it away! At 0-0 that save arguably won us the game and got us promoted.

Ashley Barnes - Playoff semi-final 2013 - Thought it was just a let off at first, but that fingertip was not only a phenomenal stop, but it was absolutely vital to us winning that game and making the final. Being against Brighton made it all the sweeter!

Eden Hazard - Home vs Chelsea 2014 - I'm talking about the 1 v 1 late in the game, Hazard looked certain to score and make it 1-1 in a game we deserved 3 points from. That game kickstarted our miraculous run and gave us the momentum to batter Cardiff a week later and IMO was the game that transformed our season.

Luke Varney - Hillsborough 2010 - Start of the second half we were under the cosh, Varney was through on goal and Jules rushed out to make a top save. The save sort of went under the radar as it was early in the half but it was critical and a top piece of goalkeeping. A few minutes later Ambrose scored the goal that kept us up and possibly saved our club. Had Speroni not made that save off Varney we would have been 2-1 down and totally up against it. That save quite possibly kept our club afloat!

Like I said I'm sure I'm missing some. What do you reckon Jules' most important save* has been for us? Personally, I'm torn between Deeney and Varney. Although I love the Barnes save and the Hazard one was a huge moment as well!
