Speroni at first was basically written off after a few seasons where he didn't get a look in, but had his career completed changed when Warnock took over in 2007.
But I'd say Delaney is the one. A second tier journeyman who had just been released from Ipswich and was considering quitting the game completely. 3 years later and he's an accomplished Premier League centre back. I doubt that anyone ever saw that coming.
