I was stopped at the Swansea match for trying to take a bottle of Fanta into the Arthur. I had removed the cap as has been required since we returned to the Prem, but oh no, I couldn't take that in because the cap's been removed - for heaven's sake! I put the cap back on. Still can't take it in as the seal has been broken. I drink some to prove its not a Molotov cocktail or 500ml of pure urine. No, still can't take it in as 'it's the rules'. Since when? The Manure game, perhaps, to stop Our number 7 showing off?
I was told by a steward previously, under the old rule, that tops were not allowed on bottles as the bottles, if dropped or placed on the ground, are easily rolled underfoot and could cause an accident whereas an open bottle just crushes. It was a bit ridiculous as everyone knows that spare tops were carried in pockets and put straight back on inside the ground. Also, I don't recall a plethora of accidents when we were in the Championship and you could more or less take in what you wanted. But this isn't just a relaxation on the rule it is an about face requiring the opposite.
