Tesla Energy (Powerwall/Powerpack)

Quote:

The Powerwall increases the capacity for a house with solar panels, but can also be used during power outages. It can fit on the wall in your garage—to power your Tesla, of course—or the outside wall of your house. It’s about 3 feet across, 4 ft tall, and 6 inches deep. It comes with a 10 year warranty.

By pulling homes and businesses off the grid during peak hours, America’s electrical infrastructure would see greater stability. With enough people on board (and critical mass of adoption is obviously a ways into the future) we’d likely see fewer brownouts in our cities.

Another attractive part for consumers is that this kind of battery will give homeowners complete energy independence, allowing them to sever connections to utility companies.

Can we play possession football?

I know this has been touched on in the Jedi thread but the question is can Palace really play possession football in the Premier League? i.e. do we have the players good enough to out-pass other teams?

I wasn't Pulis's biggest fan but what I recognised was that he got us to play to our strengths, and until recently Pardew has done the same. However, it does seem like Pardew wants us to try and control the possession more in games, and I'm not yet convinced this is playing to our strengths as we simply dont have those types of players. The Sunderland game was proof that it's not how long you have the ball but what you do with it, and that seems to be our strength so I would like to see us stick to it.

Thoughts?

Suggestion: Adnan Januzaj

Out of favour under LVG, competing for the spots with the likes of Di Maria, Mata, Young & Fallaini. Only made a handful of appearances this season as a result, but clearly has talent as displayed last season under Moyes.

Although he just signed a long term contract earlier this season, but rumors are that he'd be available for a loan move next season.

Why not at Palace? Can play in the number 10 role behind Glen as an alternative to Chamakh.

Suggestion: Ibrahim Ndong

Massively random I know but I was in Marseilles on the weekend and managed to catch a game at the Stade Vélodrome. OM were terrible and lost 5-3 with France international forward Gignac particularly ineffective (a man that slow should not be constantly offside).
Of the players to impress was a young midfielder for FC Lorient called Ibrahim Ndong who was awesome. Good touch, strong and quick and looked to pass the ball quickly rather than needlessly dwell on it for too long like half the OM team. He is 20 and from Gabon and already plays for the national team. Recently signed a long term deal with Lorient but for only £500k or so. Might be worth a look alongside their forward Jordan Ayew who may finally be living up to the massive potential he showed when he started.
Oh and Sir Les was on the same plane as us so I guess he was doing some scouting for when QPR have to sell their entire team in the summer.

Kian Flanagan

According to this article from the express - vultures are hovering for our latest "wonderkid" - i'm ashamed to say i know next to nothing about him.

Can our academy experts such as Woosie educate me on him please?

Anyone know or recommend a company that makes bespoke enamel badges?
Hundreds online but I'd really like one someone has used especially if they are local. Cheers

Rumour: Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United circle Crystal Palace youngster

Quote:

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are showing a strong interest in Crystal Palace youngster Kian Flanagan.

The 15-year-old made his full debut for Palace’s Academy side only last month but has already attracted the attention of the best clubs in England. His status at Palace is clear, too, as he made his first appearance for the club’s development side against Colchester yesterday.

The majority of players in the development squad were born between 1994-96 but midfielder Flanagan was born in 1999 and is already considered good enough to play.

He signed for Palace from Southend, where he had been since the age of eight, as a 13-year-old, despite interest from Liverpool.

Flanagan agreed a two-year contract at Selhurst Park at the age of 14 but Palace face a difficult task to hold on to him.

Operating in the No10 role behind the main forward, Flanagan has impressed the scouts of the top clubs, who could pay £100,000 to prise him from Palace.

137:

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

will villa do a wigan?

With villa now in the cup final will their players lose focus in the league and drop to the championship just as wigan did. They have been hoovering around the bottom for sometime and their recent good results in the league have stalled as the semi approached. Personallt I would be happy to see one of the mid size teams drop. Villa sunderland or newcastle would do nicely.

Neither of the teams coming up will be able to attract quality players either

Good news for palace for next season.

If another lessor side were to come up via the playoffs it would be very sweet.

For all those old enough to remember or those interested in history today marks the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam war. The Emirates FA Cup

The BBC is reporting that The FA Cup will be renamed for commercial reasons. Emirates are allegedly buying a sponsorship of the competition. Previously it's been sponsored as "The FA Cup sponsored by Budweiser" or just "The FA Cup".

What they're proposing is an actual name change, so it will no longer be called "The FA Cup", but instead be called "The Emirates FA Cup".

What is net debt?

Chelsea have a billion of it, Palace just a few million, but what is net debt? The Guardian published a guide to premier league finances today and the smaller clubs like WBA, Norwich and Swansea seem to have far less of it than their bigger rivals. To view the link you have to Register or Login

Are contracts worth the paper they're written on.

Having signed a new three year contract last summer, the club are now having to to offer Yannick Bolasie another new deal in order to hold on to him. WHY, when he still has two more years on the last one?

It makes a mockery of having contracts at all, and begs the question; are they worth the paper they're written on?

Showing a bit of class

If Chelsea to win the tittle against us in Sunday should we as fans show some class and stay to applaud them?
I have no real feeling about Chelsea , I hope we beat them of course but would rather use the opportunity to show yet again what great support we have and are. Therefore staying to applaud them as it is a great achievement to win the league would be the sporting thing to do.

Rumour: Daniel Congre

According to our colleagues at France Football, Montpellier defender Daniel Congré has been formally approached over a possible transfer this summer.

Congré, who has a contract extension offer with Montpellier until 2019 on the table, is looking at the possibility of moving abroad at the end of the season, with his current deal expiring next summer.

The player could be available for as little as €2m, with West Brom, Torino and Hellas Verona all also interested in the player.

Bolasie: Staying or going?

Despite Pardew saying that it would take seriously silly money to part with Bolasie, why is it that the thick-skulled media still persist on a daily basis that Bolasie can be prised away and quoting figures that amount to just a quarter of the money quoted by Pardew and if that isn't enough, they are conjuring up yet more and more clubs as being interested. Where does this media circus all end? I know that CPFC does not respond or bow down to speculation but isn't it time CPFC turned around and said "Enough is enough. Bolasie is going nowhere". Or is this what the fans are going to be subjected with all summer?

Pick a total losses figure below £200m......

......that Tony should settle for in order to hand over the reins of BHAFC to an owner who can bring instant PL success - as demanded by an increasing number of their fans.

I think Tony should try to 'sell' the club for £50m, making his hit a nice round £150m. Looking on the bright side, within 15 years of not making £10m a year losses, he would come out even.

Which goals would you shortlist for Goal of the Season?

Every year, Palace Radio has a competition for Goal of the Season, on which everyone can vote. However, before we can get to that stage, we need to compile a shortlist.

So I would be very interested in your views as to which goals should be on that shortlist

''And Leicester'' v Chelsea.

Theres a few rumours knocking about here in the East Midlands that Pearsons going to play a weakened side against Chelsea....absolutely criminal if he does in my opinion. We're on a roll and the moods tremendously positive both on and off the pitch so to start thinking and acting defeatest could be disastrous.

In the away end i posted a thread of our season from a couple of years ago,''Les and Admin''...we were trying to get promoted out of the Championship and doing well when up popped an FA Cup tie away at Huddesfield,Pearson rested a few players and we were lucky to snatch a replay,we went on a downward spiral after that so in my view....don't play weakened sides, especially when fans are forking out good money.......Everyone knows the quality Chelsea have but in my view if we have a go at them you just never know.

Have Palace fielded weakened teams, and what was your view?....

What does "Rich" mean in 2015?

To somebody who has nothing a person with £100k might seem rich. To others it may be a Billionaire? Personally I see it as someone who can live comfortably but not extravagantly having saved hard or perhaps had the luck to invest wisely.

A 4 bed house in a nice area of London, Surrey or Kent could be £750k. Add in another £25k for a car. £10k furnishings. Having enough savings to generate £30k a year would need another £1m @ 3% interest. So perhaps a minimum of £1.785m.

To own planes, multiple homes, boats would surely need tens of millions.

Interested to what people think Rich means?

Jimmy Hill

I did An Search, but couldn't see anything immediately obvious - in light of the BBC lauding Jimmy Hill as one of those 'sorts who changed football', I hit wiki.

He spent his formative years, like most of us, watching Palace. Is he one of us, or anything like that? I met him about 10 years ago as some Sales Award shindig in London, but his dull eyes didn't flicker when I told him I was Palace.

Just curious, really.

Celtic Nation and Norton United are Folding

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Quote:

Norton United, who reached the FA Cup first round earlier this season, are to close at the end of the campaign.
The eighth-tier club are opting to fold as they cannot afford to pay rent of up to £20,000 a season on their ground in Smallthorne, in the northern outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent.
Norton left the Norton Cricket Club & Miners Welfare Institute in December after a dispute with the ground owners.

Quote:

Celtic Nation dream ends as club prepares to fold
Celtic Nation have resigned from the Northern League and will play their final game, at home to North Shields, on Tuesday April 28.

Runners-up in 2013-14 but already relegated from the first division this season, the Carlisle-based club will fold.

Subject to ratification by the annual league meeting, the upshot of Celtic Nation’s decision will be that Brandon United, the bottom club in the second division, will be saved from relegation.

I put both of these up because it's two very different stories that both end the same way.

Norton are a little club who dreamt just too big and after getting to the FA Cup 1st round this year for the first time ever it's curtains for them losing £1,000 a game with crowds of 50 - 60.

Celtic Nation were founded in 2004 they got funded by an Scottish Millionaire Businessman in 2012 who promised them glory, they got some ex-pros in and all was going well until he decided that the play thing wasn't working and pulled all of his funding in 2014, they started this season with 4 registered players and were relegated.

Pardew's winning/losing runs

A mate of mine pointed out that Pardew was renowned for going on winning and losing runs so I decided to take a look at it..

This season at newcastle he won 5 in a row but followed that by losing the next three.

In 2013/14
Newcastle went on a run that saw them win 7 out of 9 but then followed that with 1 win in 8. Also that season they then won 3 out of 4 but then lost 6 in a row.

The season before that his newcastle side had a run where they only lost 1 in 8 but followed it with just 2 wins from their next 13. They finished the season with 4 wins out of 6 followed by 1 win in 7.

Is this something we may have to get used to at Palace?

Whats your live attendance to win percentage this season?

Bored tonight, so I thought it might be fun to see who is the luckiest/most jonahlike supporter to follow the palace this season.

Here are the full fixtures we have played in 2014/15: To view the link you have to Register or Login

I have seen 2 wins from 10 matches watched (Leicester home, Burnley away), giving me a score of 20%. (2 divided by 10, times by 100)

Keltic Eagle has seen 2 wins from 15 matches watched, giving him a score of 13.33% (2 divided by 15, times by 100).

If you can beat his score you are truly unlucky :)

Moving to Dublin

Recently got offered and have accepted a new job in Dublin. It's a massive opportunity that I couldn't really turn down. Plus, it's a salary staff job, which comes as a welcomes break from freelancing for the last few years.

I have an apartment sorted for two weeks courtesy of the new agency but will need something more permanent after that, but that can be sorted once over there.

Looking for advice on some other issues, like back accounts, mobile phone contracts, importing a vehicle - how long until I need to register it over there etc and anything else people can think of that may be helpful.

It's all happening very quickly, and I'm not sure where to start, but really looking forward to getting over there and starting the new job.

Well, it looks like some combination of Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 2, so I'll probably give it a miss again.

Is Ledley our most important player?

Discuss it's surely no coincidence that when we signed Ledley last year we instantly became a much better and more composed side. Whenever Joe has no played we have generally been poor yet when he and Mcarthur were in the middle we was absolutely superb. A vastly underrated player in my opinion and I believe he is the most important player in this team.

For me certain:( if we can get rid) Ramage, Garvan, Bannon, Guediora, McCarthy , Fryers, Price, Hunt

Maybe: Campbell, Hangerland, Mariappa,

Possible: ( but hope not) Gale, Delaney

Last time Palace had no corners in a home game?

I asked this question on another thread but can;t see an answer. Anyone know when Palace last went 90 minutes at home without getting one single corner? I can't remember it ever happening! :)

House buying deposit

A friend is buying a house, they've paid the deposit, contracts have been exchanged and a date set for completion.
A problem has a risen in getting the rest of the money and it is unlikely that it will be available in time for exchange.
Will the deposit be lost in its entirety or is it possible to change the exchange date by a few weeks.

If anyone has any experience of such a situation or genuine knowledge of what happens in this event I'd be interested in your comments.

Edit: No, it isn't me.

How many points needed to stay up?

Subs:

One last chance. I'd love to give Chung a start, but who do you drop? Let's hope they work a bit harder.

Why has the general election thread been closed?

Seems odd. Was it a mistake?

Corner count zero

Corner count

Palace 0 - Hull 9

With Yala and Wilf tearing up defenses we usually have a decent corner count. I'm sure I can be proved wrong, but this is the only match I can remember with no corners won. And we're pretty dangerous on corners. Misfortune or a Steve Bruce tactic to keep the shackles on our wingers?

Bulk cardboard recycling

Very dull thread guys, but bare with me,

In the daily course of our business we accumulate quite alot of cardboard, which needs disposing of, we used to use sevenside who became DS Smith to collect this, and all was fine until they subcontracted our area to biffa.

We store our cardboard in a garage and it needs loading into a recycling truck by hand, biffa say they can offer us a skip or a bin to put it in, neither of which will work for us as we have no space for this.

My question is does anybody in the Surrey area know of a company who could collect cardboard without it being bailed or in a bin / skip. Or does anybody on here have a use for loads and loads of cardboard, I'm thinking gardeners, car breakers, the boxes are hike boxes so aren't of a particularly useful shape for much

Sorting out the pitch must be our number one priority

Yes we were total garbage today and yes it looked like they had already checked in at the Costa del Sol
But in a defence to our forward players, I get the distinct impression that they have all lost their confidence running and turning at pace because of the dreadful pitch.

This has to have something to do with our away form being so much better.

I know it is easy to say "it is the same for both sides" but that is not necessarily the case as our guys now expect to fall arse over head and as I say will or have lost confidence.

We have replaced it already once but getting it right has to be priority number one:veryangry:veryangry

Wilf almost TOO unselfish?

Over the past few games particularly Zaha seems reluctant to beat the last man and have a pop at goal himself. Today was a prime example. He outmuscled the Hull player ten yards inside the Hull half and started to run in on goal but rather than possibly try and get a shot away or push on into the box he squared it harmlessly to a Hull player who cleared his lines. He seems to do this quite often these days. Is it a confidence thing or riding to instructions do you think?

Chelsea Game In Los Angeles

Any meet-ups or suggestions where I can watch the Chelsea game in L.A. next weekend please?

Thanks

Today's minute silence.

As we all know 56 fans died and good today that we showed respect to these Bradford fans RIP. There is always one prick out there, whoever it was that shouted " anyone got a light"
Well you are scum. Real low life scum!! Did it come from behind the HF? :veryangry

Pigeons M.O.T.M?

Although one at back first half we sent an attacking 3 into their penalty area for entire 2nd half. Only criticism I'd aim at them was they were very narrow rather than spreading across the box. Discuss:p.

Player Ratings And Reviews: Hull (home)

Poll to follow, if you can be bothered to vote for any of them...

LONG BALL SITUATION

Personally I think we need to stop playing long balls up to Murray, as the other teams have now sniffed it out. I think we need to start playing the balls out wide to Bolasie and Zaha more, who can pretty much easily beat there opponents. And put good crosses into the box.

Kyle walker

#kylewalker that is all for now. I'll let you guys take a look.

Thanks Palace

Been a long time since I posted and only been in here a few times to correspond with a palace fan on private message, but just a quick thank you to the Palace fans that were involved in the REMF game at Lewes last night, not sure if they are on here but, the charity is proud to have you guys on board and over 12k raised on the night. Had some good banter with the players and fans during and after the game, which was played in a good spirit with no nastiest. Once again thanks and pains me to say, well done on your more than survival season, as looked at your squad and manager and thought nailed on for going down, you proved me and others wrong.

Yours in sport

As my son is going to be one of the mascots tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone knew if any of the players themselves once did the same, and if so, are there any photos?

Travelling Football Fans & Hotel Selection

Dear fellow fans,

I am a football fan and enthusiast and I love watching English Premier League.

Now I am doing a research for my Masters thesis about travelling football fans and hotel selection.

Please take a few minutes to answer this questionnaire below. It is completely anonymous.

You only need to have travelled to attend a game in this season and stayed at a hotel during the trip.

It will take you less than 10 minutes to complete. Please answer all 3 parts, the 1st will take about 5' and the rest less than 3'.

Managers' mouths

Maybe it's different here in the states, but generally team managers ('head coaches') here don't make such direct comments about personnel worth as "I'd sell Bolasie for 40-60 million" as Pardew was quoted this week... along with "Every player has a price." Their input is valued, but behind the scenes, in closed-door sessions and they rarely if ever make such public commentary.

Why would that person in that role have so much input to the business/finance side of the organization that he could confidently make those public comments? These statements, especially at this point of the season, are a distraction, a disruption and can tend only to cause friction among the players. For pete's sake, focus on the on-field issues and let the 'front office' do their job.

Suggestion: Antonio Cassano

Free agent since January because he hadn't been paid by his club since June the year before.

He admits he 'misses football'

Even Palace wages are better than nothing.

In a world in which Cambiasso plays for Leicester and Bojan for Stoke, is this such a far fetched idea?

£23 million profit from 1st Prem Season ...

Quote:

The club were promoted from the Championship in 2013, when they made only £3.5m profit on a £14.5m turnover.

Financial results for the year ending June 2014 show turnover rose to £90.4m.

"The improved profit stemmed mainly from increased broadcasting income, combined with prudent financial planning," chairman Steve Parish said.
Well, that worked out well. Anyone checked out the accounts which must have been released?

Palace in Saigon

jeudi 23 avril 2015

Just moved to Vietnam for the summer to do some studying and teach English. Wondering if any BBS'ers were stationed out here and interested in catching a game or grabbing a beer. Based in sunny Saigon.

Suggestion: Jay Rodriguez

Might sound like a bit of a stretch, but would it be worth trying for this guy in the summer? Before his injury he was on his way into the World Cup squad, and he may find himself out of favour on his return, especially with Southampton probably looking to further improve in the summer for a real European push.

There's always the worry of the injury recurring, but we took Kelly in similar circumstances and he's turned out well. I feel like Rodriguez would fit the bill of a great all round striker for us, or an inside forward with great finishing.

Out of our reach and a stupid suggestion, or someone we should realistically try to push for?

I would love to get a trade or retrain and wondered if anyone has an hands on experience of doing this at a later stage in life?

One draw back is I don't drive but I am starting to learn once I'm feeling a bit better which should open up more opportunities.

Safe If we beat hull

Surely we need to celebrate this. It's what we set out to do this season and a win this weekend will secure it. Just because we've over achieved and might be targeting top half now doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate achieving the original goal.

Saturday night will be a big one I hope!

Loyalty points (non ticket purchases)

Without wanting to start a debate on the pros & cons of such a scheme, what's the current position on collecting loyalty points for non-ticket purchases?

I hear examples of people being awarded points for club shop purchases. Was this ever officially 'rolled out?' And if it is up and running I guess we had all better start swiping our ST cards when we buy HT beers?

Best way of converting USD to GBP?

I have a USD balance in a brokerage account from my company sharesave. I stand to lose about £2k on a wire transfer direct to my HSBC account (based on a similar transaction that I made last year, hence not wanting to be shafted again), or about £1k on the 0.64 exchange rate the brokerage firm will apply to send me a cheque in GBP.

I looked into going via an intermediary like Thomas Exchange, but can't do that as the brokerage firm require that the payment is made to an account in my name rather than an intermediary.

Banks seem to be very secretive about the rates they'll apply to any given transaction, whether that be a wire transfers or to pay in a USD cheque. I'm obviously not expecting to get the market rate of 0.665 but 0.64 seems an excessive premium....

Lower Ticket Prices - TV Deal

Just saw this on the BBC news: To view the link you have to Register or Login

For the lazy few, here are the highlights: West Ham have become the first club to announce they will reduce season ticket prices as a result of the Premier League's record television deal. West Ham's cheapest adult season ticket that season will cost £289, down from between £620 and £940 for the 2014-15 campaign.

This is obviously more to do with the fact they realise they won't fill their new stadium at their current prices than the TV deal right? Will more teams start doing this thanks to the monster increase in TV money, or is this going to be the anomaly?

Either way its a good PR move for West Ham, as they could substantially increase their future fanbase if people are drawn to Premier League football at those prices. They are also vastly reducing their U-16 tickets to about £5 per match.

How big are Palace on Twitter?

For the first time ever (apparently) social networking site Twitter have revealed where each top flight club's followers are from.

Collection for Bradford Fire Memorial on Saturday

As you may be aware, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Bradford City fire disaster in which 56 supporters lost their lives and hundreds more were injured.

The anniversary will be marked throughout the Football League and Premier League this weekend.

A minute silence will be held before our match and the supporters' trusts of Hull and Palace are hoping to hold a bucket collection at the stadium. In case this doesn't happen, and for those who can't be at the match, we've set up a justgiving page to raise money for the Burns Unit at Bradford University, which was set up in the wake of the fire.

Any donations - no matter how small - will be gratefully received. You can donate online here: To view the link you have to Register or Login

This is all been arranged as short notice as the CPST were only contacted by the Hulls fans who brought it to our attention (for which thanks) a short time ago so the bucket collection which would be inside the ground is looking a bit problematical - so does anyone here have quick access to either collection tins or collecting buckets and could bring them along early on Saturday? Any volunteers to shake them would be good as well.

Champions League Seeding Change

Good change I think... league winning sides from the top 7 leagues and current holders will be ranked 1st in the draw

Quote:

“For the purpose of the draw, the 32 clubs involved in the group stage are seeded into four groups of eight. The first group comprises the titleholder (top seed) and the domestic champions of the seven top-ranked associations in accordance with the access list (see Annex A).

"If the titleholder is one of the top seven associations’ domestic champions, the group is completed with the champion of the association ranked eighth. The other three groups are composed in accordance with the club coefficient rankings established at the beginning of the season”.
So if the top of the leagues don't change, next season will see these teams as the top seeds: Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Paris St Germain, Zenit and Benfica + the Champions League winner.

If they are one of the top 7 leagues anyway then the 8th league will be included - Dutch (PSV)

April 19th 1969 Promotion

46 years ago this evening more than a few glasses were being raised to celebrate our first ever promotion to the top division after coming from 0-2 down to beat Fulham 3-2 and secure runners up spot to Derby. :lux:

In the 46 years that have passed we have only slipped out of the top two divisions for three seasons and have spent 15 seasons (fingers X soon to be 16) in the top division, despite some desperate fiancial times that would have finished off many clubs. Given a stable financial situation and continued good stewardship all being well we should be able to celebrate in 4 years time the 50th Anniversary of that wonderful promotion day as an established top flight club :p

migrant drownings

How should Europe react to the number of migrants trying to reach Europe in boats from Africa?

Should we be rescuing them and mounting patrols to ensure their safe crossing, or should we in the delightful words of Katie Hopkins be viewing them as vermin and doing nothing to protect them.

Or is there a third way that involves trying to understand why people are so willing to risk their lives to try and come here for a 'better life' and work to ensure their better life can happen at home.

picking the bones: needing a Plan D

so a couple of times (less since AP's arrival though) this season we've played games where the other teams has shut up the ******* shop been dire and beaten us by the odd goal.

what can we learn and take from these games into the rest of this and next season.

1. don't concede first in games like this: it gives the other team no impetus to try and attack, they'll put a million men behind the ball and we'll be ****ed.

2. dont get frustrated: THE BIGGEST POINT, professional teams will kick you and nudge and do everything they can to put you off your game, get up, get on with it, don't get involved and pick up needless bookings.

3. be patient: keep the ball, pass it around, drag them out, play football.

4 physical presence: needing someone who can mix it and disrupt things to make space for clever players and neat touches.

5: Maverick behaviour: if they're camping in their own half do unexpected things, pick up the pace, shoot from strange angles try things that are unconventional. shoot instead of cross, aim everything at goal and play for scraps. get it on target make the keeper think.

any other thoughts?

kai kai at the double

Anybody catch his two goals for Cambridge yesterday

30 yard free kick and and the other from outside the box

Wonder if he deserves a run out for us at the end of the season once the football league has finished.

Think he could save us a lot of money.

The Pitch for WBA game

samedi 18 avril 2015

I'm surprised not to see a thread about this.

Bolasie slipped 7 or 8 times when on the ball in the first 30mins, Zaha a lot too.

Yet they water the pitch more at HT....

Wrong studs? No training sessions on that pitch?

The pitch played into the hands of 'play the way you're facing' types - like WBA.

I can't see the logic of making the top layer so wet with our players, especially against a Pulis side. It's as if the groundsmen are still working to Pulis/Warnock instructions.

Am I correct in thinking we may have to perform one of these for the Chelsea scum should they win the league (win their next two) before we meet them at Stamford bridge?

And won't we have to do the same for Slippy G for his last home game?

Please someone tell me I'm wrong on both counts :(

Suggestion: Davy Klaassen

Another top product to come from the Ajax academy. Following in the link of Eriksen and Siem De Jong, I think he looks the part at only 22 years of age. He plays in behind the Striker and scores goals, would he be a realistic capture for us? I think given the position we find ourselves in it would be a great opportunity to test himself on a bigger stage.

Maybe it's not a position where we need strengthening as we have a good strength in depth in that area. I do however feel he would be better than all our current options, and it's a position that if improved vastly improves us as a side.

Pardew signed Siem De Jong for Newcastle who unfortunately has been set beck with long injuries. Pardew said De Jong was the most technically gifted player he's ever worked with.

Could be a the type of signing that marks the transformation of the club to that next tier in quality.

banana barry - 'suspended by Bolton'

We all know Neil Danns is a knob but it appears, maybe, that him and Bazza may have had a ruckus in a hotel midweek.

Sorry I haven't started one of these for a long while and so may have screwed this up - but here goes (Where is GF when you need him :) )

Today's programme

A guy at my work asked me to pick him up two (not sure why) and of course I completely forgot.

Does anyone know if the club sell these? I can't find anything on cpfc.co.uk.

Thank Christ Pulis left.

It would be tough having to watch that turgid dross every week. I suppose it was just such a relief to see a bit of organisation last year that we were blind to the anti football on show. We saw it from the other sides pov today.

Recommendations on Seeing the Northern Lights

Mrs Selhurst300 has a significant birthday next year that ends in a zero and has indicated that she would like to see the Northern Lights.

I believe that this means more than a cheap weekend in Blackpool in the autumn and I would appreciate any recommendations BBSers might have as to when and where to go to optimise the chances of viewing the Northern Lights.

Deposit return following a rental.

We have just moved out of a rental property, we had damp and rotten windows and after asking the landlord to fix these (he assured us he would) we were then giving a notice of repossession by him.

We've cleaned the property and been checked out by the letting agent, but the landlord reckons we have not done it to a suitable standard and is now seeking quotes for the work he reckons needs to be done.

Over the last few years, I've cleared sections of the garden that were causing problems to the neighbours, had a tree professionally removed as it was dead and a danger, has to spend £20-£30 a month on moisture traps and crystals to remove condensation and purchased a Karcher window vac to suck up excess moisture from the windows.

What course of action should I now take? He is tighter than a knats chaff and I reckon he will get the most expensive quotes and we will not have any deposit left.

Can I make a counter claim for the work I have done?

Has the letting agent screwed up by checking us out and not saying they had a problem with the properties condition?

Is there anything I can do?

Our deposit is held by the deposit protection service.

Many thanks in advance.

134,400 racist and other discriminatory abuse of Premier League footballers

A reflection of the mental health problems in people

134,400 racist and other discriminatory abuse of Premier League footballers posted on social media this season

To view the link you have to Register or Login

An enormous volume of racist, homophobic, sexist and other discriminatory abuse of Premier League footballers and clubs on social media has been revealed in new research for the game’s anti-discrimination organisation, Kick It Out.

The search of Twitter, Facebook, supporters’ forums and blogs, using key abusive terms with players’ and club names, refined to identify direct abuse, found 134,400 discriminatory posts this season, from August 2014 to last month.

The research has also highlighted the huge number of abusive posts received by some individual black players, finding that Mario Balotelli, of Liverpool, was sent more than 8,000 discriminatory posts on social media, of which more than half were racist. Danny Welbeck, who moved from Manchester United to Arsenal in September, received 1,700 abusive posts, exactly half involving racism. Daniel Sturridge was sent about 1,600 discriminatory posts, more than 60% abusing him on the grounds of sexual orientation.

55th in the World atm

jeudi 16 avril 2015

On these rankings with a lot based on form and what league you're in. The 'MIGHTY' Palace are currently 55th. Bigger than AC Milan. :lux::D

Only six games left.

Looks so little on the home page. A yawning summer (winter here) here and no WC. What is everyone going to do?

I have the Copa America to look forward to. I have tickets for every Chilean game (National Stadium) including the final.

Chelsea ticket

Hi my card has been debited for my Chelsea ticket on my away season ticket but no ticket has turned up anyone in the same boat ?

Striking Distance

We learned on Saturday that Bolasie's prime range is about 6 yards. No problem. Let's hope he gets many, many more opportunities from close range. It's a lot better than seeing them sent airmail into the beer queue for beer.

My question is, who is our best player from distance? I say that in play it must be Puncheon. He seems most likely to get it on target from outside the box. Gayle has a strong leg too.

Set pieces it's obviously Punch or Jedi.

I don't need my goals scored from Matt Phillips range. I think most goals are scored from fairly close.

Also...who was the best from distance EVER in a Palace shirt?

Keeping it classy against WBA

Following on from the fantastic success of To view the link you have to Register or Login thread I would like to appeal to your good natures once more in the West Brom match.

Listen, I know this is a tough ask. I appreciate that feelings are running high. Pulis did the unthinkable.

He kept us in the greatest league on earth for the first time ever. He secured our future with a fantastic run of games.

I know this is not what we expect at Palace. I know we expect and demand crisis and failure.

But let's collectively step over this outrage. This blip in an otherwise unblemished record of failure.

Let's keep it classy against West Brom.

Who is with me?

The Holmesdale Cravatics

There seems to talk of a new group starting up at Palace, they go by the name of the Holmesdale Cravatics.

Does anyone know if any members post on here? Would love to get involved as I wear cravats to every match! Finally a group that I would fit into at Palace.

The account added me on facebook earlier and I've seen pictures of these lads. They look very intimating and I would like to know if I could find another cravat wearing buddy on here that would like to accompany me in introducing myself to the Cravatics. It's making me anxious just thinking about it, don't want them to "rough me up" or even worse strangle me with one of their cravats for trying to speak to them.

Newzoids ..What did you think ?

Worthy of being hailed as the New spitting image ?

Watched last nights opener and i thought it was very good, wasn't quite as irreverent as spitting image used to be, but then the restraints on being pc are higher these days so it will never be as wicked as they were. All in all though i thought it did a fine job and was pretty funny in parts..

Is there one being done today does anyone and if so, any links etc?

I'd also be interested to see theirs out of pure curiosity too if anyone also has a link to that.

TIA :p

Vote Balotelli- Liverpool player of the year!

Mario Balotelli is receiving plenty of votes in Liverpool's 'Player of the Year' poll on their official website - after it was hijacked by Manchester United and Arsenal fans. (Daily Mail)

Voting seems like a good idea to me, pity it was a Wanker/Gooner idea. I voted for Mario

Discussion: New striker

What are our options?

Babacar

Bamford

Deeney

Austin

I would be happy with any of those. Perhaps Deeney/Austin plus one of the others. I think Remy is probably out of our reach.

Civil Service entitlements

I'm not one to join in civil service bashing, but just got this.

I sent my brother a birthday message to Ofgem, and got a reply to say he is on shared parenting leave - I expected that. It said he would be back in the office at start August. 3 and a half months :lux:

Does that sound about right?

Suggestion: Cleverley

Would he be worth a look? Is he all that? Do we need him? I'm unsure on all these questions. Apparently Arsenal and Spurs in for him, although I find it hard to work out how he'd fit in their sides.

Would we be better placed giving Johnny a run? What about Lee Chung-Yong?

Newcastle 'ambition'

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Talk about subjectivity. If Palace had 34 million in the bank I'd be happy as hell.

Quote:

Newcastle had more than £34m sitting in the bank at the end of the last financial year, the club’s full accounts have revealed.

The club announced record profits last month of £18.7m for the 2013-14 season, but the full accounts registered with Companies House on Monday show that £38.6m was transferred into Newcastle’s bank account as a cash-flow sum – paying off a £4.5m overdraft and leaving £34.1m available.

The revelation has infuriated Newcastle fans who claim the owner Mike Ashley has little ambition beyond remaining in the top flight and benefiting from the lucrative Premier League TV deals.

Brutal AND stupid.

What is it with this sort of murderous moron and filming themselves with their ill gotten gains ? The sheer waste and vicousness of this crime is beyond any human comprehension...
