I really feel sorry for the Greeks. It must be really galling to see this very important part of Greek history going to Russia.

I have seen the Elgin Marbles many times and have always felt a little guilt, and thought that they should be back near the Parthenon in the purpose built building the Greeks have prepared, in the hope that one day, we Brits will relent, and give them back.

We haven't looked after them that well, they were damaged I think by poor restoration some time ago in our care, and not forgetting they spent sometime under the sea when Lord Elgin's ship sank with them on board after they were chopped out of the Parthenon frieze.
