Pulis Palace v Warnock Palace

mardi 4 novembre 2014

Whilst i was watching our spirited but fruitless display last night i suddenly thought if the team under Pulis played the current team what the score would be?

For me, the Pulis team would thump the Warnock team 3-0, and at a canter, over the passage of 10 games our water tight unpregnable defence under Pulis looks shaky, undrilled, lacking leadership and liable to conceed at any time (last minute goals are a sure sign of panic). At the same time our combatitive midfield has shrunk, do not track back- look lost and chase their tails, our wingers succeed more by luck than judgement and the forward line are on their heels and lacking any real service. The demise of the 11th place finish last year to where we are now is extreme, only at Palace!

To think that our current team have conceeded the most set piece goals in the league, this stat alone tells me everything about the frailty of our current team without question this NEVER would have happened under Pulis. These saved goals conservatively would have given us 7+ more points this season, building on our finish last year and pushing us safely into the top half.

Is it also any real shock that we have had a number of cast iron penalties turned down, dubious sending offs, lack of free kicks and no help from officials since Warnock arrived his persona and historical dislike of officials has subconsciously meant that they need to be dragged over hot coals before giving us anything.

This isnt a witch hunt against Warnock but in comparison to Pulis he is lacking in every department and we look a team accepting their fate as relegation candidates as opposed to throwing their bodies on the line and battling to the final whistle. The one slight glimmer of hope is that the teams coming up from the Championship last year all look out of their depth, lets hope that continues all the way to May as i do not see anything else changing in the short term under Warnock.
