Darcy Blake - striker?

mardi 30 septembre 2014

Just read this on the South Wales Argus website:

FORMER Wales international Darcy Blake, who ended last season at Newport County AFC, has sparked a row after turning out for his local team in the amateur North Gwent League.

Blake, still only 25, is currently without a club after failing to agree terms with for a contract at County after impressing on a short-term deal at the end of the 2013/14 campaign.

But last weekend Blake was playing for Tredegar Arms FC when he agreed to help them out of an injury crisis and fired a hat-trick in their 6-3 win against Pantside FC.

Perhaps we should have tried him upfront 😱

VIRGIN MEDIA CALLS FOR A INQUIRY INTO £600 TV BILL TO WATCH LIVE FOOTBALL

TV watchdogs are under pressure to launch an inquiry into the rip-off cost of watching live Premier League football on television, which can be more than £600 a year.

The pay TV and broadband company Virgin Media claims the way the Premier League sells the rights to top flight matches means armchair fans in the UK are hit with unfair fees.

The net result is that clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are sharing in billions of pounds from fans whose passion and loyalty is being abused.

Winter Olympics 2014 Winner: srs9jps

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)

3 In the second round the 4* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 16 or more, then a 5th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.

Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.

Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.

15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher

16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)

17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after

Train Ticket Prices

When did they get so expensive?

Just been having a look for the Utd away game- basically £80 return whether you go up Friday night & back down Saturday evening or Saturday morning/Saturday evening. That's booking 5 weeks in advance.

I don't get to as many away games as I used to due to work, but 5-6 years back when I went regularly was always prepared to pay a bit over the odds, but that is extortionate?

Is there an app or similar about that notifies people when the batch of 'cheap' singles go on sale to hub destinations across the country? Thought 5 weeks would be sufficient enough time to scour out a reasonable deal but obviously not!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAIDSTONEDEAGLE

West Country Eagles Website

Can all of you that have logged on and used the WCE in the past note that the website has been suspended.

In past years it has proved invaluable in making contacts in the West Country in order for Fans to share the cost of travel and match day experience.

However with our promotion to the Premier League Fan activity has dropped off .

There will be several reasons for this and one would be that the casual Fan can no longer just go to Selhurst to watch a match.

The website was set up to 'catch' those Fans and encourge them to link up with others so they might be more inclined to make the effort to travel the distances involved.

Ash & Ron thank all of you that have supported the WCE website in the past.:hi::hi:

Vincent Tan meets Jim White

Did anyone see the interview on SSN?

Jim White interviewed Vincent Tan on his yacht in the south china sea. Asked him a few things including about the new (nearly) manager etc.

Was asked whether he would make suggestions about picking the team and said no but he would ask questions if the expensive players weren't being picked to understand why. Which doesn't seem entirely unreasonable.

Lastminute.com

Morning all...

I have general question about 'lastminute.com' which may seem fairly stupid but, often I am...

Say you saw a flight/accommodation package that you were interested in, four months before the date you wish to travel, would it definitely be cheaper if you left it until two weeks before the travel date? (assuming it wasn't sold out)

I am asking because if you go on sites like this and search for trips departing tomorrow or this weekend, they don't really seem that much cheaper than the same package three or four months later.

Has anyone got any experience booking stuff last minute?

Thanks

Dave

Moving to Dorking.

Hi all

Dorking, For my Partner and I, has so far ticked all the boxes and more when deciding on an area to live and bring up our newborn baby. The commute in to central London looks like quite a trek, but we are willing to sacrifice our 20 minute journey to move somewhere that has some stunning surrounding scenery and the property seems to be a bit more affordable than most other areas close to London.

The only stumbling block that could sway our decision to move to the area is the over crowding of the rush hour trains in the mornings at Dorking (main). Being on an overcrowded train for an hour each way to London would not be fun, but could probably be bearable if there were available seats when getting on at Dorking

If there is anyone on here that travels in the morning rush hour-between 6 and 8 am- from Dorking to London, and could give any advice on the above, I'll buy you a pint of Cronx at the next home game.

Cheers

Simon

Has anybody had any success with this? Or horror stories.

Looking for flights for a trip home, and I notice they have an option where you can select a price you would prefer to pay up to 40% discount (yeaaaah), and leave it open to see if an airline will accept that price. A matching service.

You need to enter your flight dates, details and your credit card for instant payment, and if you are successful you get billed and sent an electronic ticket.

So, the cheapest flights I can find (return) are $1,500. I am thinking of offering

$1200. What are the chances? This is for flights late February.

Any experiences?

Only real question is whether to start with Campbell or Chamakh but with 2 in 2 I think Campbell will keep his place, plus his pace is better on the counter for away games.

James "General" McArthur

Early days but what a terrific player it looks like we have on our hands, I like the McJedley thread but thought "The General" deserves one of his own.

Seems like a great replacement for KG but seemed to play at the front of the 3 so I guess in future our forward line will be either Campbell or Chamakh?

Hello all,

I'm planning a bit of a football road-trip in late November, coming from the States. Planning on attending 5 matches in 5 days.

I was hoping you guys could be of help with respect to where would be my best bet in securing tickets for the match on November 23rd v. Liverpool.

Would greatly appreciate any assistance or any tips of any sort!

well done then Palace.

I thought I heard somewhere recently that Jedinak will be playing for Australia in a competition in January? Trying to think what Cup it might be? ...

This would be disastrous to our survival chances, so I hope he doesn't go.

First home win in the premier league ever..

Today's magnificent win is our first ever home win in September in the premier league. Another useless fact..:p

Palace Primer: One fact about Palace all new fans need to know

Firstly, what a great win today! The grit that this team plays with makes waking up at 7am and watching the game online from America incredibly enjoyable.

Being a new Palace fan (last year was the first year the Premier League was shown on US TV and Palace stole my heart), I'm interested in knowing what one fact/event/piece of information you need to know as a Palace fan.

I don't get a lot of the "inside" discussion or recognize the names of the past but I really enjoy seeing posts with videos/anecdotes about previous Palace glory.

So, what's one thing you tell all new Palace fans to get them up to speed on the team and it's history?

BTW, I've already converted my girlfriend to a Palace fan so slowly but surely, we'll have a great following in America.

COYP from California!:lux:

Well done Jules / NW / Coaching staff

As discussed in GBK, kicking the ball to our forwards was not working, throwing to full backs is a massive improvement.

Thanks

Next week, runners at corners and what to focus on.

Four things back to their best....

...in the second half today. Firstly our defence, secondly Jedi, thirdly Yala and last but not least the atmosphere.

Pulis who?

ps. James McArthur was shit hot today. Proper player.

McJedley

I'm really liking how our 3 central midfielders are establishing a very good understanding and partnership. 2 games in a row now where we have looked assured and solid in the middle. Keep this up and we may well just look quite comfortable at this level.

Well played McJedley :lux:

Convertible laptop/tablets. Recommendations please

I am looking at getting my daughter one of these. Preferably with a detachable option. Budget of approximately £600. Ideally a screen of no less than 13.3"

Would appreciate it if anybody could recommend best buy options for that budget please?

Probably going to opt for Windows OS rather than Android (she already has an Iphone for apps).

I am taking her down to PC World later, just to be able to touch and get a feel for them, but I'm guessing that their stock will be pretty limited and would not buy from there. Always find Amazon cheaper, once homework has been done.

Club statue and who would it be?

After watching a program about the embarrassment of Fulhams Michael Jackson statue and then seeing someone say Speroni needs one, it got me thinking who we like to see captured in bronze.

For me it'd be Julian without doubt. He's the full package: great player, nice fella, loyal and seems to love the club.

Best Loan Teams

Righto, was thinking about all the loan players we've had over the years and thought it might be good to try and find the best starting 11. Reckon a 4-4-2 is the easiest formation to fit players into. Obviously there will be plenty of similar players positionally but let's try and find the best of the best. I'll start as I think one player at a time is fair.

Obviously these dates vary but some months they have taken payment on 25th, others the 7th and on one occasion the 15th. And for good measure, they took no payment at all last month. I called the box office and they didnt seem to know why this was but I coughed up for the "missing" month.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Anyone able to give me some advice on the best places to park at Selhurst?

I've moved to the Family stand this season and travel in from Bexleyheath so ideally want to park somewhere that side of the stadium compared to where I parked when in the Holmesdale.

Ticket farce Newcastle match

mercredi 24 septembre 2014

It may be me maybe I've lost my marbles but did anyone else think tonight's admission to the ground a total farce?

Myself and family are season ticket holders in the main stand. We decided at the last minute to attend this evenig so expected to be able to turn up and pay.

I could not believe that upon arrival at the main stand We were first told to go to the box office ( I said why can't we just pay at the turnstile? Or buy the ticket at the normal ticket office? ) so, I duly went to the box office only to be told to get into the main stand I needed to go to the Holmesdale why I said I want to get in this stand ?

So I go half way round to the Holmesdale only to see a line a mile long with just TWO selling windows open!!!! so we queued and duly missed the kick off despite getting there 40 mims before kick off!

Oh and one last thing some guy who had turned up on spec as he was down in London working queued with us for 40 mins only to be turned away because he couldn't pay with a card. His last words.... " Call yourself a premiership club you are a joke" I have to say after 40 years as a fan I sadly have to say on tonight's arrangements I agree with him:(:(:(

Ticket Colletion

what was the problem with ticket collection this evening??

in the queue from 7.15 (with about 1000 others!)

missed the first 10 min?

Player Ratings And Reviews: Palace Vs Newcastle league cup

Pretty average performance really against a poor side, disappointing to concede 3 goals, physically we got outmuscled, we looked good when we played the ball quickly but this was few and far between.

I dont think anyone really staked a claim for a first 11 spot.

Hennesey 6 Great save 2nd half, nothing he could do about the goals imo

Fryers 5, looked much smaller than I imagined, a bit lightweight, cant see him getting near first 11 soon, dissapointing first look at him to be honest, didnt look a patch on Tyrone Mings.

Hangeland 5 on the ball neat and tidy but im afriad his legs have gone, once he gets turned or moved about he just cant get back into position, ship him out

Paddy 5 feet in cement for the 1st goal and then gave them a goal out of nothing with a stupid penalty, ship him out.

Marriappa 6 Physically looked strong, poor on the ball though

Bannan,6 a few nice touches here and there but his final ball/shot was terrible for someone of his quality

Williams, 5 buzzed about but as someone said too lightweight to play central midfield and no goal threat to play the number 10 role, loan him out.

Guedioura, 7 our best midfielder, looked strong and put himself about

Zaha, 6 funny sort of game, 1st 15 minutes he moped about not looking interesting, got to track his runners alot better he caught got numerous times, didnt think he had a great game but at the end of the day he won a penalty and got his man sent off

Doyle,6 no service, won a few nice headers but quiet overall.

Gayle,5 At times its like playing with 10 men, his overall play is quite poor and he doesnt get involved much but then he just looks really sharp in the box, needs to learn from AJ how to drop deep to accaept the ball into feet to and link up play, poor finishing

Subs

KaKai- great finish, dont blame him for the goal, theres no way you should have 20 yards free space infront of your own goakposts for players to run into.

AJ - tried to keep it simple but gave it away a bit, would have liked to see a flash on the old pace but unfortunately not.

Apologies if such a thread already exists but I could not see one.

Does anyone already own a smart watch? A Pebble perhaps or even an early adopter of one of the Android watches?

Personally I'm waiting with baited breath for the release of the LG G Watch R, looks a smashing bit of kit.

Battery life is always suggested as an issue but I would have thought that most like me take their watch off at night so charging on the bed side table is pretty convenient? As long as they last a full day of good use.

Unblocking a Toilet

OK, so my toilet is completely blocked. I've tried various methods to unblock it including going at it with a plunger, a wire coat hanger down there and industrial strength toilet unblocker (basically pure sulphuric acid) which while producing a cool reaction with the water, hasn't solved the problem. I'm beginning to think my little one might have flushed one of his toys down there. I've been quoted £120 by a plumber to remove the blockage which seems quite expensive and my landlord is refusing to pay as he says it's a problem of our own making.

So, I turn to the BBS for advice. Does anyone know of any methods that could save me shelling out £120 on a plumber?

Social Media Now Suppressing Rather Than Enabling Free Speech?

We all know that the wider media takes far too much notice of Twitter etc now - Scotland was a good example where based on number of tweets the Yes vote would have had a landslide while we all laugh at the faux outrage of the Mail when about three people tweet disapproval of something the BBC shows (last example was a woman with an issue with pulling her own hair out getting outraged when Dr Who showed the Dr plucking a hair from Clara's head - good story Mail!).

However, I have started to feel that social media is actually on the verge of limiting free speech - by virtue of some of the groups using it and their behaviour (small numbers, stupid people yes - but out there anyway). Three recent examples:

Andy Murray tweets support for yes - perfectly within his rights - someone tweets they wish he had died with the other kids in Dunblane

Several women start a campaign to get Florence Nightingale on the bank note and get threatened with rape

Today - Emma Watson makes a speech at the UN about equality (she is an ambassador for it) and the people who claim to have all the nude pics threaten to release some of her on the basis of what she has said (no proof any exist and she is not publicity seeking like most of the ones leaked but maybe she has some beach shots topless or something who knows)

Add in the seriously nasty use of SM by IS and co and you do have to worry that in the end, SM is actually starting to kill the very freedom and liberation of the individual that it created.

Makes you wonder where next in the interconnected world.

NDA Agreement Advice

My other half is a senior buyer at a well known high street store. Or at least she was.

She was called in yesterday and told that she was being let go and will be paid her notice. She will also be asked to sign an NDA agreement and will be paid an appropriate amount accordingly.

She was employee of the year in 2013 so understandably this has come as a bit of a shock. A new manager has come in to the business in the last 6 months and appears to want to make his mark and unfortunately she is one of the casualties. The reasons he and the HR department have given seem flimsy at best but it is now a case of trying to maximise the pay-out as much as possible. Can anyone recommend a solicitor that deals in such cases?

Haven't got time before I dash out to list out all the bonus point options we normally have for league cup (eg "win on penalties" etc) so just for this time we'll stick to asking just for Score, Scorers and Attendance. Result that counts is at the end of the game before any penalties, so you can say "draw" if you want

Questions From Newcastle Fans

Hi guys, me again, as you may remember, over at toonforum.co.uk, we like to ask opposition fans a set of questions to use in our pre match build up. Here they are:

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle in the Premier League?

2 – What do you think of Warnock's comments regarding the League Cup not being a priority and his plans to use it as a chance to give minutes to some players he hasn't seen yet?

3 – What young players could make an impact?

4 – Who is your most important player?

5 – How seriously are you taking the cup? Would you rather focus on the league?

6 – If your club was a footballer, who would it be and why?

7 – What do you think your chances of resigning Zaha permanently are and would you want him?

8 - How do you feel about the Pulis/Warnock situation? Were you happy with Pulis and is Warnock a suitable replacement?

9 – Although it seems okay at the moment, are you worried about Puncheon's relationship with Warnock? If it came down to it, who would you rather keep?

10 – Scoreline Prediction?

Palace Have Only Lost 4 Of Their Last 15 Premier League Games

Palace are 10th in the Premier League Form Table over the last 15 League games

with the following record

W 6 D 5 L 4

Just 4 defeats in 15 games shows how difficult Palace are to beat and makes a mockery of the doom and gloom supposedly surrounding this season portrayed by the media and some of our fans.

If you remove the recently promoted teams from the table then Palace move up to 8th place.

Does this mean that if you get caught speeding by say 3 of them you get a straight 9 points?

Going to be a big question over the coming months as we approach the general election and in light of the fall out from the Scottish independence referendum.

Is it really as simple as it seems i.e should English only matters be the concern solely for English MP's or should those Scotland still be allowed to vote on them ?

The White Horse

Is there any news on The White Horse pub in Selhurst Road re-opening? A mate of mine went past there during the week and it appeared the boards were being removed from the windows and the familiar old pictures looked like they were going back up? First away game coming up - questions on away match etiquette

dimanche 21 septembre 2014

Hi fellas,

Now that I'm at Uni there's no excuse for me not going to away matches, so I'm going to start with the match at Hull and try and go to loads this season.

Problem is I've never been to an away match before (never really got my shit together to be honest and was quite content just going to home games with my dad - need to up my game though!)

The last thing I want to do is piss off those of you that go to all the away games so if some of you could give me some pointers on etiquette that would be great.

Like do you sit at the seat you are assigned on your ticket or sit anywhere in the away end, does it matter which pub people drink at (like is there a hierarchy or something?), do most people get the club coaches up or meet up and go via train or whatever.....

Anything else you think I need to know, as I said I want to start going regular away games and not look like a complete novice.

Cheers,

Will

Suggested Team and Formation For: Leicester City (Home)

..................Speroni

Ward......Dann......Delaney...... Kelly

..................Jedinak

..........Ledley............MacArthur

..Puncheon...........................Bolasie

...................Chamakh

Subs:

Mariappa

Hennessey

Bannan

Fryers

Zaha

Gayle

Doyle

If healthy, Chamakh has to play. He is simply our best player. Although he flourished when he was brought back into the hole last season, after the display our 3 midfielders put forth today, and the chemistry between them, I would be very hesitant to break that up against an underrated Leicester side. Chamakh will be able to hold up play and provide height and work ethic up front. Gayle and Zaha on the bench for the final third would be brilliant depth.

CPFC Sydney Supporters V Brighton Supporters

On the 25th of October 2014, Crystal Palace FC Sydney Supporters will be playing on Brighton Sydney Supporters for the 2nd time in an event which has become an annual fixture for both groups of supporters.

The game will be played at the Kings School 87-129 Pennant Hills Rd, North Parramatta on Saturday 25 October with Kick off being at 10am.

Last year we lost 6-4 to a brighton team with an ex-pro ring in and this year will be no different with brighton expected to play with more ex-pros. At this rate we will be playing the Brighton first team soon.

As we seek revenge for last years loss the CPFC Sydney Supporters group would like to invite all Palace supporters in Sydney or Australia (or overseas if you're keen) to play/watch/support the game.

A post game BBQ and beers will be put on and give a chance to mingle with the opposition or not if you choose.

hope to see there.

Warnocks first three games

What i expected:

Newcastle away,lost

Burnley home, win

Everton away, dicking

In reality we got 5 very decent points, and in all the games we played some brilliant counter attacking football(apart from burnley boreing us off the park)

I was 50/50 on warnocks appointed, i was very much on the fence. However imo he has had a brilliant start too life at palace, and has now with this win the spirit and form from last year is definitley coming back again. I hope some of the warnock abusers are at least having a rethink.

Up the Palace.

Crystal Palace U21s vs Crewe Alexandra U21s

Can anyone confirm where the U21 squad are playing home games this season?

I'm assuming it's the Tooting and Mitcham United ground (Imperial Fields / KNK Stadium), as it was last year, but I haven't been able to find any confirmation online, and the one home game so far this season was postponed. There might be something in one of the home programmes (?), but I haven't been to a match this season, so can't check them.

The game against Crewe is this Tuesday (23rd September) and is supposed to be kicking off at 2pm. I'm looking forward to cheering on our youngsters :lux:

Joe Ledley Appreciation Thread

Just a word for who I think has been one of our best buys in recent years. Love his commitment, work rate, reliability and consistency. It was obvious that our midfield missed him when he was gone and I seriously believe he is the cog in the wheel of our team. He keeps everything ticking when he has the ball and draws defenders out of position for our wingers to expose them. Brilliant player.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Now first of all I have to congratulate Rose Wylie at 80 years old, for the recognition she has received, but although I am a lover of art, and modern art in particular, I just cannot see the merit in her stuff that warranted this award.

She says herself, that it is only in recent years that she has gained this recognition, and cannot understand why, as she has been painting in the same way for many years before.

It seems if you come up with enough verbal background bollox for an artist's inspiration for a given style and content, it eventually catches on and imparts some kind of added value to the work.

I visited an exhibition of modern art in Exeter recently, knowing very little about the artists themselves beforehand, and was knocked out by many of the paintings and collages on display. The BBC report is the first time I have actually seen Wylie's work and it left me rather underwhelmed. Sorry Rose.

Be interested in anyone else's comments, and if anyone on BBS actually paints art stuff, it would be good to see it posted on here.

Warnock Press Conference 19th sept

1) - injury news - will leave Chamakh til last minute - is an important player - wont take a chance if it means risking losing him for longer - has been training with us

2) on backroom staff - Kevin Blackwell helping on matchdays - brought Ronnie Jepson in to increase numbers

3) on players going out on loan - will watch lads agains Newcastle - am sure one or two will go out on loan

4) we can lend players for three months but have them back for 28 days - will keep them fit - good that we can loan them out til january - good to get them match fit

5) on Paddy McCarthy - wont be a shortage of takers

6) on Bolassie - cameback 24 hours before a game - its a squad game - he wil be important the rest of the season

7) good to have competition for places - imperative to have numbers

8) on record v Everton

9) on Phil Jagielka - has to be proud of what he has achieved - to see him play at world cup was a fantastic achievement thought he was superb last night v Wolfsburg - does a wonderful job for Everton - i remember talking to David Moyes about him

10) he is a level headed lad - wont be bothered by the criticism - would get in any team in the league

11) on Ross Barkley - is a wonderful player - works so hard - has done really well - is now reaping the rewards of how hard he works

12) dont expect Everton to rotate the squad - all level headed lads at Everton - none of them are above themselves - makes for a great dressing room

13) young England players all progressing through hard work - there are a few you can get excited about

Pubs showing the Everton game Sunday.

Does anyone know if any pubs in Bromley normally show the Palace streams? I know there's a sports bar (old Walkabout) but not sure if they show them?

Anti-Semitic flag shown by Partizan Belgrade fans against Spurs

I won't post the image of the flag in my post, but it is this news story.

To view the link you have to Register or Login

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said the anti-Semitic banner displayed by Partizan Belgrade fans during their Europa League tie was unacceptable.

The banner was an imitation of the logo from BBC comedy show Only Fools and Horses with racist words written on it.

Pochettino said: "This is a shame, very disrespectful and unacceptable. The club is aware but I did not see it."

The banner was on show during the 0-0 draw and European football's governing body is investigating.

Watching the team train

Is it possible for supporters to go down to Beckenham and watch the team train?

I know back in the day at Mitcham you could just turn up watch the training and meet the players afterwards not too sure about these days?

Premier League Player Stats

mercredi 17 septembre 2014

I live in America and my government has decided I can't gamble on sports because I'm a tiny little baby. [/rant] But I can play fantasy sports games for money. And one of these sites has added Premier League weekly fantasy contests. So, I'm going to play. And I've discovered that they have woefully overvalued crosses in their point system, not even successful crosses just crosses. (I'm not sure if they count corners as crosses) So, I'm looking to find which players have lots of crosses. But I have yet to find a website that has that statistic available, I can't even find crosses by team. Anybody know of a website that I can find that info? Does ManU still have 100 crosses a game, or has LvG rid them of that.

Backroom Staff

So we lost Pulis, Gerry Francis (and possibly David Kemp?)

Alongside Warnock, we have to make some top class appointments… A wise head, a top quality premier league coach and a future manager would be good

I see Jepson has joined so far… i hope there are more appointments to follow. Any ideas what we are going to end up with?

Terry Byfield

Congratulations to Terry - completed his 30 years at Palace today. Loyal employees are a rare thing nowadays. Here's to the next 30 :)

Did you know? Bayern are sharing a kit with Crystal Palace this season so both clubs can’t play on the same day.

New Everton stadium idea mooted

Whilst googling about our next opponents Everton this morning I stumbled across an online newspaper article about Everton’s brand new ‘new stadium’ idea. It was only 2 days ago -

To view the link you have to Register or Login

What amazed me was that Liverpool Council are so supportive. And bear in mind this is to build in the middle of a park (a bit like Hull have done). The council is even starting some meetings to smooth it over with the residents, and would chip in some money (not directly for the ground itself) as well.

The Council are also supporting Liverpool FC, who are nearly there on clearing a whole road (both sides) of terraced housing, so that they can double the size of their main stand. Liverpool council also supported LFC when they initially wanted to build a 60k ground in the middle of Stanley Park (a listed Victorian Park a bit like Crystal Palace park)

A world away from planning for CPP it would seem.

I do like Goodison, but even the biggest stadium romantic would have to concede that the views of the game are poor from a lot of seats, and to get rid of the pillars and improve legroom yet still have a decent capacity would be almost impossible on their current site. The proposed new ground is just a stones throw away from Goodison (so much better than their previous attempt to move to Kirby which is outside the city)

E tickets

Questions for Steve B or anyone else

Whilst booking my Newcastle ticket I noticed that the only ticket option was the paper one.

In the past there was an E-Ticket option where you could print off your ticket.

Was that idea disbanded ? I think also at one point you could have your ticket charged to your season ticket?

Not a moan - Just wondering.

Thanks

Jonas Gutierrez

mardi 16 septembre 2014

Quote:

NEWCASTLE United star Jonas Gutierrez has revealed he has testicular cancer.

The midfielder in an interview in his native Argentina, says he had a testicle removed after discovering a tumour.

Now the player, who went on loan to Norwich last season, is recuperating in Argentina after undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

In an interview with TyC Sports he said: “I detected a tumor in a testicle . When I confirmed the cancer, I went home crying.

“I came here and I assumed the costs despite having a contract with Newscastle. Money is not important. What is important is the health. I had to start chemotherapy . “I had the operation in Argentina, I removed the left testicle. I returned to England and Newcastle told me to leave.”

Wish him all the best in his recovery.
