Just seen an excerpt in the mirror for an upcoming book '10 football matches that changed the world'. 1 match featured is Palace vs Chelsea in 1984, said that Chelsea's Paul Canoville came on to "a raucous, poisonous and racist reception". He ended up setting up Pat Nevin for the winner and post match Nevin spoke up about the racist abuse, supposedly the first white player to do so.
This was a year before I was born but I'd be interested in hearing fans own recollections of this.
