BBS Crimes Against Grammar

samedi 21 juin 2014

I can't take it anymore. I can understand abbreviations and leaving out punctuation on tweets and I even can understand the occasional grammar slip up on the BBS. Hell, I've done it before and will do it again. But there has been a problem that has infected the BBS and doesn't look like it could end any time soon.

I don't know how many times in the last few months, but I've seen a proliferation of phrases like "He should of", "We could of", "I would of". :veryangry I know you are trying to type "should have", "could have", "would have"; but if you are desperately into brevity, use the contraction. "Should've", "could've", "would've". I know I can't be the only person that gets his balls in a twist about stuff like this.

And I wish people would quit saying "bald faced lie". What the hell is a bald face? It's a bold faced lie. For more reasoned grammar questioning, I'll hand it over to the current Mr Phil Brooks.
