There seems to be a recurring theme in the transfer forum. A player is suggested, there is an immediate response of 'it's not an upgrade on X' or 'are you going to drop X for Y'
I think this is the wrong way of looking at the transfers these summer.
We have a squad of 25 plus the under 21 players.
We should be looking at adding depth to the squad to cope with loss of form and injury. Also to give the manager more tactical options against tricky opponents.
I really enjoyed the stable formation of the last few months but we have essentially lucked in by Punch / Yannick hitting form and Dann / Ledley integrating with the team super quickly.
Finally, a larger pool of talent means competition for places and improved performances - this worked super well for Jules.
So, let's not view new players as replacements or thinking about who we need to drop to accommodate them.
