Now I haven't bought a FIFA game for a while because I'm a PC gamer not console gamer, I have a 360 still. I had 96, 98 and a couple of others, but I have played it round friends houses over the years, however this story is a big one for one of the big titles

Even though you have the greediest bunch of bastards in game making divorcing the most corrupt and greedy bunch of bastards in the non-political World I cannot see this as being a good thing. Even if EA have purchased loads of team and player info packages I can see this as sliding away in the same way as Pro-Evo Soccer long term, in fact, they'll have to compete with them but the licence, the player and team names, is the big seller. If FIFA decide to be the owner of this they will rake it in but I can't see a better game - it'll take some organisation to give it direction if they think that outsourcing from cottage software houses is the way to go.
PES will be high-fiving over this.
EA Sports reckon
.....well, for now, until FIFA push you out of that too fella.

Video games publisher Electronic Arts says it is going to stop making Fifa branded football titles. It is one of the most profitable brands in gaming history, but the cost of the licence was one reason why the decision was made to ditch the partnership. EA will continue to make football video games, but from 2023 they will come under a new banner, EA Sports FC. Fifa says it plans to release its own rival games, saying: "The Fifa name is the only global, original title." |

"In terms of things that they'll miss, players will notice only two things: The name and a World Cup piece of content every four years. Outside of that, very little will change about the things they know, and love about the current Fifa products. |
