I know we are still an awful long way from reaching the Cup final, and am not in the slightest counting any chickens or anything (and am fully aware of how many good teams remain in the competition) but...
Myself and some friends have been discussing heading away for a long Weekend somewhere in Europe (most likely Italy). I'd been lobbying for late summer, but the weekend of May 14 was the favoured date. I agreed, before I realised it was the weekend of the final.
It seems madness to be baulking at booking flights or anything else at this stage of Palace's run, but then again, beat Stoke and we'd only be two games from the final...
I'm not massively flush with disposable income at the moment, so don't know whether to book now and then try to reclaim should we make the final, or hold off and book at a later, no doubt more expensive date when it's confirmed we haven't reached the final (should that occur). This latter option has the problem of messing with potential accommodation booking for the others. I don't even know how easy or otherwise it would be to claim a refund for flights, accommodation etc when it's not Covid-related (and there's some discussion of getting a couple of trains on the way out, which would presumably be even harder to claim back than a flight)?
Of course many people, especially those who might not get sport, would say just go on the trip and watch the final wherever you are, but come on: this is Palace and a potential FA Cup final we're talking about, which is clearly a very rare thing for our club (it will be a great trip that I really want to go on, but equally it's not a once in a lifetime holiday or anything like that). I simply couldn't comprehend not being at Wembley should we make it - especially in a circumstance like this, where nothing is currently booked; it's not like a long-standing engagement or a family wedding or anything is on that date.
So what would you do. Book? Hold off? Other?
